I rented 3 surf boards from the stand I believe is dive Oahu 3 according to my receipt. I myself have been surfing for 5+ years so took it upon myself to teach my girlfriend and younger brother. While surfing I choose a spot less populated to be sure we weren't an inconvenience for the lessons. While trying to help my brother the instructor of a group moved his lesson to where myself and family were surfing but further into the ocean. Not seeing they were there because I was helping my brother the instructor sent one of his students on a wave directly into my girlfriend. That student collided and hit my girlfriend off her board. The instructor than swam over and told me I couldn't surf there because a lesson was in progress And blamed me for my girlfriends injuries. I don't know how this establishment is run but I hope this maybe shines a light on the employees you choose to employee. read more

My wife and I just did a beginner scuba adventure with this company and they were GREAT! I'd only dived a couple times and was a little panicked once I got in the water but our instructor "Kent" I think, was amazing! Patient and comforting. The waves were choppy and the boat was moving. Kent kept his cool and kept me calm. Once that was over I was fine and the rest of the day was awesome! My wife also had a little trouble but they were great with her also! Chris our driver was cool. The captain was also very helpful and positive. Over all I would defiantly recommend this company. I am also a business owner and I was very attentive to how they treated us and the other customers. They treated us all with respect and a positive attitude. They also provided drinks and snacks which was a great little perk. The equipment was good quality and so were the employees! Thanks again!! Today I did a solo surf lesson with Jason. Having never surfed before I was really nervous but Jason was great! He took the time to make sure I was comfortable and understood everything and I had a blast when we got out on the water. Everyone else at the shop was super nice and helpful, and I am also very happy with the photos of my surfing. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in waikiki. read more

THEY LOST MY 9YR OLD DAUGHTER!! Don't use this place. Took 9 year old daughter for first group surf lesson. The instructor left her alone to take a teenager and an adult back to shore. When my wife asked where my daughter was he informed me he "was going back for her". Then he couldn't find her and returned to her after five minutes and said, "I don't know where she is... but she'll be here somewhere" For ten awful minutes my wife was running along the beach trying to find her. It was hell. She did find her and she was upset and scared. My daughter told her "he just left me.. I watched him take the other people to shore and I didn't know what to do..." No words to describe the idiocy of leaving a 9 year old alone in the ocean while you decide to bring the adult and teenager in to shore first. She is a good swimmer but she had no additional buoyancy aids and the waves were really strong. I can't recommend this place at all - they should be shut down immediately. The instructor 'Mike' didn't even apologize to me. Nada. No one was in charge, and no one was accountable. GO INSTEAD TO THE PLACE JUST EAST OF DUKE's (green umbrellas). They were fantastic. They insisted on private lessons for a 9yr old due to safety (wasn't even a suggestion with Dive Oahu!) and she had an amazing time. Staff was sooo great there. We returned for a second day and got all three of us lessons. Daughter loved it and they even managed to get me and my wife standing up (me sort of). These guys are the first you'll see on the beach but stay away....many more that are better within walking distance. read more

Rented umbrella and lounge chairs from the stand on Waikiki/Kuhio beach. Did so twice. Fine both times. Got a setup in the second row one time, and the front row the second time, both around 1 pm. Clipped a piece of paper on the umbrella to claim it. No issues. read more

This Place is the worst. One of their beach umbrellas blew away in the wind and hit an eldery women. Also, their staff was incompetent when it came to teaching my son how to surf. He offered odd tips that didnt work for my little guy. My son is athletic and he never was able to stand up. Overall horrible experience. read more

We rented four surfboards yesterday, and the team was all very nice and helpful as were the prices and quality of boards. What gives this company 5 stars is the customer service that proceeded. I figured out the next day I left my drivers license at the booth ( required when renting surfboards), and had gone back to the hut to retrieve it. After a little research, learned they had taken my license to the main office for safekeeping (about 4 miles away). The team saw that I was a little disgruntled, and before I knew it, the owner Brian Benton brings us to his truck and drives us back to the office to get my license as well as back to our hotel, as it was raining. Rarely have I ever experienced such caring of a customer's situation than I had today. You should know that when working with a company, regardless of their prices (although their's was competitive) that loyalty should ALWAYS go to the company that is willing to go above and beyond what is necessary. Bridget and Ellias are super helpful and welcoming. They have lockers for your stuff while you surf. They match you a board for the conditions. They let me hang up my shirt to dry after I came in for a water break. Ellias is the photo king of Waikiki. Ask him to take your pic! Thanks so much you two. read more

Please don't take their lessons, especially if you have never surfed before. I think they are more focused on taking money from tourists but not on delivering a positive experience. I have taken their surfing lesson, and it cost me $125 for 30 min class (even though they told me the class takes an hour), and there was no safety instruction, so for your own safety, choose another company. This was my first time surfing and the experience did not live up to their advertising. Please don't waste your time, energy, and money on them. read more

I can't find the location for in front of Hale Koa but they suck. First we had a surf lesson booked at 10am. 4 of us. The slots available are 5. The other single person apparently booked a private lesson so they told the 4 of us could not go. Which is a bunch of garbage. We shouldn't be allowed to book if someone wants a private lesson. And if they booked after us, too bad. The way they handled is was so poor too. No empathy at all. We pushed back to the noon slot to show up to that one and get told the tide is too low and they don't recommend it. We walked 100 yards down to another one of their tents, same company. Asked if they had any surf lesson spots open, they told us they don't take same day bookings. Ummmm what? Do you not like money? The staff just seems lazy and no remorse for ruining your whole morning. We could've been doing other things with the rest of our group. We walked down the beach to Stoke Drift. They got us all in at 1:00 same day. Were friendly. We all had a great time. Screw Dive Oahu!!!! read more

We stayed across the street and surfed everyday, renting boards from Dive Oahu & Surf. Their boards and leashes were great and prices reasonable. Dalton was the man, and hooked us up every morning bright and early and got us out on the waves quickly. Kids had a blast surfing the Waikiki waves. We'll definitely be back. Thanks D! read more

We had a fantastic time with Dive Oahu! From day 1 of just rentals to a day on the boat of shallow reef dives, their service and equipment was impeccable. It is evident that their work is more than just a job - they care about the ocean, about diving, and about customers having successful and enjoyable dives. My wife was on her first official post-cert dive and had an incredible time all in thanks to Kent's patience and expertise and the professionalism and soulful spirit of the crew of Anger Management. The dive spots we went to were filled with sea life and beautiful reef, and the crew knew exactly where to go to find sea turtles, eels and best of all sharks. Create a special moment with Dive Oahu! I was looking for the perfect (and most private!) place in Waikiki to propose. While walking the beach, I came across an outrigger canoe parked by Dive Oahu. I immediately went and talked to the staff to see if it was feasible to get a private experience. Katie and Pat were incredible! Not only did they arrange a perfectly timed sunset excursion, but they surprised us by playing the Hawaiian wedding song, helped capture the memorable moment, and made sure that no one was around so that it was incredibly beautiful and romantic! The reason this review overwhelmingly deserves a single star is because of the utter lack of regard for the customers as people. I was sitting with my family on the beach in front of their hut in the sand for about an hour or two when this big tanned man with a beard approached us telling us the sand we were on was leased for the boards and we had to go. Of course this was no problem to us and we were happy to oblige and told them to wait a second so that we could finalize our flight tickets (leaving next day) and pick up our belongings. Less than 3 minutes after, shortly before we intended to leave, we were again approached by the same employee who aggressively told us we had to leave followed by several phrases with profanity and absolutely not family friendly. We told them we were about to leave and they insisted that the boss would come over and that we would complain after he hit us for not moving. The whole altercation became very aggressive and as an employee of an establishment he were acting completely unprofessional. I talked to the other employee there and explained to him why I was going to leave this review and he told me he completely agreed. There you have it, they agreed with me that they should be given this review. I would recommend renting from another location merely because they all provide the same products, but hopefully other locations provide better service. read more

If you are looking for QUALITY EQUIPTMENT, GOOD SELECTION OF BOARDS/SUPs and TOP NOTCH, KNOWLEDGABLE, COMPASSIONATE instructors you should take your business to DIVE OAHU AND SURF located on the beachfront of Waikiki beach. My 2 kids and I started the day by renting surfboard with Dive Oahu. The attentent was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. She hooked us up with a variety of sizes, we were set up quickly and out on the water. We went to catch some waves in the beginner surf area. My daughter and her board took a nose dive. The board bounced back and hit an instructor in the head. I asked if he needed help, he was not bleeding just bumped. The instructor then began lashing out at us, cursing and frightening my daughter. We paddled back in, she was in tears and nothing I could say would get her back on the surfboard. When we went to return her board we told the attendant what happened. When they saw my daughter and I so shooken up by this incident, UNCLE JASON came in to SAVE THE DAY!!! He instantly build rapport with my daughter knowing just how to speak with her, offering his assistance and having her back. He got us back in the water, brought back the confidence to my daughter that she needed to be safe and have fun out in the waves. Can't thank you enough! I walked over to a different stand only to see one off the staff members being completely disrespectful to customers and staff members. I believe his name tag said peace. It was a display of a sincere lack of prefessionalism along with showing a compete disrespect for others. I will not be recommending renting from that member.
