My boyfriend and I reserved private pool sessions and open water dive sessions with Dive Oahu and the experience was phenomenal. I had trouble learning a skill, but Jeremey and Chris were very patient and kept assuring me that I could do it. Dive Oahu is a 5-star organization that seeks to provide the best possible service to their customers. I would highly suggest diving with them whether you are looking at further pursuing your diving education or even if you're just passing through on vacation. You will not be disappointed by their staff or their resources! After several weeks of debating, I finally decided to do my Advanced Open Water/Nitrox certification with Dive Oahu after hearing from a friend about the level of excellence they strive for in all aspects of their operations. This was the best decision I could have made. From signing up for the class all the way through the end of the last dive, the staff were all extremely helpful and friendly! Our instructor Taylor, with his assistant Chris, did an amazing job at ensuring that all students clearly understood the learning objectives and making sure that we got the most out of each dive that we possibly could. Shelly, our captain for the first day of diving, was eager to help in any way she possibly could and used her knowledge as a Marine Biologist to better explain some of the sea life that we would see. During every dive brief, they made sure to use appropriate hand signs when discussing the sea life as well as the air limits they wanted to use for each dive. They used any opportunity they could to teach us more than just the requirements of they course. Thanks, Dive Oahu for a fun afternoon! We did the 2-tank shallow reef dive, which is very convenient if you're in the Waikiki area. The crew was very personable and professional, dive master Art took good care of us and knew where to look for the interesting critters. The small number of divers in the boat was really nice, too. My only complaint is that I felt rushed, but I tend to be a very poky diver who likes to hang out and look at stuff. And I get that the dive has to be paced for people who use their air faster. I would be happy covering less ground and looking more closely, though. read more

I've done all my training through Dive Oahu all the way up to Instructor level and find them amazing! My favorite local dive center! Lots of shops to choose from to get gear esp with all the tent sales they have, good discounts! Great military discount too. Boat diving is fun, they go out of kewalo basin in Waikiki. The Sea Tiger is amazing, one of my favorite sites on the island! It's a wreck to about 100ft deep. They have an instructor diving with you all the time. They are a very safe operation with all the staff doing very detailed boat briefs and monitoring their divers during the dive. They also have a huge dive club that goes out diving from shore which is fun and you get to meet lots of new divers! They even feed your every time a big BBQ lunch! Dive club gets discounts on everything, tanks are only $1 to rent dive club weekends. Boat dives are only $65, not bad for a 2 tank dive. Also you get a free dive on your birthday. If you live here, I highly recommend joining. If you don't I def recommend going off the boat to the wrecks! read more

Had a great time getting certified with them, not sure why other people had issues. Prices were reasonable, and all information was put out ahead of time through emails to remind people. The best thing was that they were very accommodating to my schedule (work in a hospital so my hours change constantly). They had no problem letting me finish up the days I had to miss. I went on the wreck then the reef dive. It was amazing. Visibility was great, staff was fun yet professional. Alli our guide was wonderful and was great at getting everything set up for us. She kept reminding us we were on vacation! She was so great at pointing out cool stuff we might have missed underwater. Our captain Jerry was hilarious but still great at his job. Saw tons of cool stuff on the dives but the sea turtle was the highlight. It was awesome! I would for sure dive with Alli again! read more

I never have a bad experience on these boat dives, and I've been out with them 3 times! Captain Neil is always so helpful and makes You feel very comfortable in and out of the water. I took the advanced open water course with Scott and had the time of my life! Again, he made all the divers feel very comfortable the entire time we dove and was very informative throughout the entire course. This past week we took my cousin, a non certified Diver on the discovery dive and again Francis and captain Neil were amazing! I went on the discover scuba trip. It was so awesome! the Dive Oahu captain and crew were amazing. The discover scuba trip is a great way to figure out if you will want to get certified. The two dive instructors were amazing, very friendly and very patient with us. Dylan was very very very encouraging and was awesome at keeping tabs on everyone underwater. He made sure to point out all the cool things that i would have other wise missed had i not stayed close to the dive instructor. He was more then willing to collect cool and unusual shells for us and give them to us to keep. It was so amazing, we saw two sharks, a turtle, a frog fish, tons of fish, and two eels. AMAZING dive today at the Sea Tiger. Not only were the reef sharks and turtles active at the wreck, a massive lone dolphin decided to hang out with us as well. Tiffany and Matt were great! Very accommodating and patient (first time diving in 7 years). Also very informative. They were able to get both dives in despite having to rescue a seasick guest from another boat and pulling a parasailing boat back to port. Would definitely recommend and use again. I won't lie I wasn't expecting much. I have dove all over the world and learned I hate the cattle car (or boat) dives and avoid the at all costs. I booked with dive Oahu because I ran out of other stuff to do for the day. I was pleasantly surprised. We did a wreck that was just great. A lot of times when you show up solo for a dive they keep you on a tight leash. Dive Oahu did a nice job letting me do what I wanted without being overly protective (although their computers are pretty conservative). The wreck had tons of life and vis was great. This shop was less than helpful when I took my Atomic T-1 regulator and octo to be looked at. I am visiting from Az and had some issues with my gear while diving so I found a local Atomic dealer thinking they would be able to help. How wrong was I ..... the man behind the counter took a look at my regulator, mind you he didn't even touch it and stated, "oh, you might just want to buy a new one, this is going to cost a lot". I brought it to his attention that the equivalent T-3 reg is $1,700. He then said oh, I didn't know you had a T-1. Had he actually picked up the regulator and looked at it, he would have known that. He then proceeded to explain that they could service and fix it but their only technician is now a captain and he doesn't work much. He quoted me 1 month or longer to return my regulator. I asked if he knew of another shop that could help me and his reply was " I'm new in town so I don't know". Way to help a customer Dive Oahu, I visit often and my daughter is local and very active diver, we will NOT be returning to your shop. I'm sure Atomic would not be happy either. read more

We did the 2-tank shallow reef dives (on the Anger Management boat) with one PADI certified diver and one discovery diver, and we both had an absolute blast. They picked us up from our hotel in a timely fashion, which really saved the hassle of trying to figure out where the marina was. On the dives, Anthony was a phenomenal instructor, providing both informative information for the newbie in our group, but also good refresher info for the certified diver who hasn't dove in a while. He calmed any nerves (I was very nervous!) and was upbeat about showing us cool creatures during the dives. We swam with multiple turtles and saw sharks! The entire crew was polite, upbeat and comical yet professional. We had some delays leaving the dock due to parking problems with other group members, but every thing was handled smoothly and our dive times weren't shortened due to the delays. 10/10, highly recommend. read more

Dove with them three times recently. I enjoy being treated like the adult that I am, so no issues setting up and checking out the rental gear. Boat was nice - not huge but a good dive boat. They are ok. I chose them over another company after a family member referred them. For $120 They do a wreck dive and a reef dive. The wreck was awesome. Lots of things to see and had a shark cruising the edges of the boat. The reef dive was alright. Lacking a little in customer service. Felt a little like they just wanted to get back to the dock. Had a nice day of diving with Ally, Jason and skipper David on November 27, 2013. We dove on the YO257 and in the shallows outside the harbor. We saw several small white tips, a couple of large sea turtles, eels, and a spotted ray along with the vast array of reef fish. For the first time, we had all rental gear instead of our own gear and everything worked out well. We booked through the Navy Exchange which was easy and included a military discount. Great experience! I was a first time diver and Riley was my instructor! He is a nice and patience guy. As a first time diver, I was really nervous and scare.. Almost didn't wanna jump into the see. But Riley take good care of me and being really patience teaching me how to dive! He answered all the random questions whatever my bf asked. Captain Neil also really nice! My wife always wanted to try scuba diving, but since I'm not a very good swimmer (just learned 2 yrs ago) and first time to the ocean, she was very hesitant. We finally decided to do it on our hawaii trip last week, and it was a blast! Dylan was a great instructor! He was very nice, patient and attentive. I recently received my advanced open water certification through Dive Oahu. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had so far. Captain Neil is a great captain, and provided years of experience and a wealth of knowledge. Kendall was our instructor. She is an amazing teacher, and really made the class fun. She broke things down into easy to understand concepts, and didn't hesitate to explain if we had a question. Safety was the number one priority of the team, and it made for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. We dove six tanks over the course of two days, and with the knowledge from the duo, greatly improved our skills. Overall, it was a great experience and because of these two, I'll definitely be choosing Dive Oahu for all my future classes and charters. read more

During my vacation to Hawaii with my boyfriend, he wanted to cross off activities done on his Hawaii bucket list, and one of them was scuba diving. I am a novice at swimming and was pretty nervous about this so when we were waiting over 10 mins past our pick up time I was hoping for an excuse to not go. We had packed towels, a change of clothes, water and lunch but after our experience, we realized we over packed. For future customers, you only need to bring a pair of shorts to throw over for the duration of the ride home. It was a different experience. Tiffany, Jesse and Payton are quite the team. I had great help from all of them as I was having troubles getting the skills covered. After that, we did our second dive and we saw lots of fish, however we missed the sea turtles. Payton helped jeep an eye on me as I would begin floating up from time to time and would guide my arms to help me swim better. Overall, I enjoyed my experience but I wish I saw the turtles. read more

Took my son for his first dive Friday. Matt and Matt were great. Spent a lot of time making sure my son felt comfortable with everything. They were both outstanding. I highly recommend taking your first time divers or anyone wanting a good instruction period with these two gentlemen. The dive spots where choppy, but once down the experience was unforgettable. Seeing a shark, moray eels, tons of fish, and huge turtles was an experience that my son and I will cherish. Can't say thanks enough to the Matts!!! read more

Yaritza at Dive Oahu (Hickam office) worked hand-in-hand with me to put together a SCUBA Open Water Diver course for me and a group of teenagers with whom I work. She did a fantastic job, assisting with scheduling and initial gear purchasing, and was always there to answer questions. She set our group of 8 students up with two of the best instructors imaginable for working with youth--Kendall and Dave, and we were later joined by Ron. There is no way this course could have gone better or smoother. All instructors were fantastic and great at working with the 16-and-under crowd. This was AMAZING! First time ever scuba diving, we did the shallow reef dive. Once we completed the basic scuba skills and were comfortable underwater, we went to an amazing dive spot with sea turtles, coral reef, schools of fish and more. Our guide Tiffany was patient, informative, and professional. Captains Kendall and Matt were more than accommodating to the member of our group that didn't feel comfortable scuba diving... They snorkled near and hung out on the boat. Will recommend Dive Oahu to both visitors and locals any chance I get. read more

It was my fist time diving. My instructor was absolutely knowledgeable and experienced and made me feel safe. I started to have panic attack when my ears started to hurt and I almost gave up on the idea of diving. However, my instructor walked me through this discomfort and fear. Then l had the most amazing experience of my life. The whole team was wonderful, including the captan. I will absolutely dive with them again. I'm a local on Oahu, and while I usually just dive with friends, every once in a while I go out on a recreational dive charter when guests are in town and want some fun. Based on my experiences, Dive Oahu is 100% the best outfit to go with. I recently had a crappy experience with a different, smaller dive shop in Kailua, and it made me realize just how awesome Dive Oahu is. Even though I haven't been out with them for over a year, I felt karmically like I needed to go write an awesome review and let people know this is the right choice. REASONS TO PICK DIVE OAHU: Large, nice boats with amenities! Bigger boat means more options for dive sites and a smoother ride in choppy seas. Also nice that they have dock space, no need to wait for someone to bring the boat around, and there is plenty parking at the marina. Nice to have a toilet onboard, so you're not expected to just pee off the side of the boat. Good snacks and hot drinks! Storage space! The staff were all super professional and courteous at all times, and all were super stoked about the ocean and the diving. They were attentive on deck and in the water, and actually managed air for people. When the DM realized how much air I still had she stayed down with me and let me have a longer dive. How flipping awesome!!! This other lame company I recently went with never even checked people's air underwater, just went for time, and I had to come up with 1700 psi. So you could choose Dive Oahu and go have some great, comfortable dives with this smooth-running operation, or you could go with a different outfit where you stand awkwardly around the dive shop waiting for the van to leave 45 minutes late while the angry old man owner berates staff in front of the customers, go on a crappy little boat with folks that didn't check your certifications before taking you diving, watch them pressure a beginner to do things he isn't comfortable with, watch a staff member be aggressive with marine life on the dive (!!!), etc, I could GO ON. Dive Oahu is a professional operation offering quality like I would expect for destination diving and a large organization. They are absolutely the best I have experienced on the island. Dive Oahu, you guy should buy the shop in Kailua (you know the one I'm talking about, cough cough Aaron's) and turn that shipwreck around. It'd be nice to have a shop in Kailua that I trust... read more

I am an advanced open water diver with 11 years of diving experience and 400+ dives around the world including New Caledonia, Thailand, Caiman Islands, Curacao, Bonaire, Key Largo, Cozumel and other places. I did two 2-tank dives with Dive Oahu and I am very impressed with their level of professionalism and their top of the line rental gear. Last night (Aug 12, 2017), I did a night wreck dive and my own BCD (not rental) was leaking at the end of the first dive. Captain of the boat - Sheryl (I hope I got her name correct) gave me Atomic Aquatics BC1 BCD and B2 Regulator. This is a $1400 BCD and $800 regulator (not counting the price of the dive computer). This is a Ferrari of dive gear. I was not charged for using those items. Upon my return to the dive boat - Sheryl fixed a problem with my own BCD. During all my travels around the world, I have never seen such expensive rental dive gear. It is truly impressive. The dive crew is very experienced, courteous and friendly. The dive boat is large, clean, and comfortable. Bottled water, soft drinks and light snacks are provided. Restroom on the boat is very clean. Dive masters were always alert, asked me for my remaining air, and gave me extra bottom time when other divers ascended with a dive master because they blew through their air quickly. Upon return to the pier after a night dive, I stayed longer and made a small talk with the crew. I witnessed crew members thoroughly rinsing all rental equipment. Sure, this company costs a few more bucks than other companies - but in this case - you get what you pay for. Great job guys! Thank you and I am looking forward to diving with you again. All in all, if you value your life and want to have a worry free dive experience - go with these guys. PS I also purchased a snorkel and gloves at their dive shop. The sales people were friendly, honest and not pushy. read more

Dove the Sea tiger today with Alex, Pete and captain Randy. Had an amazing time, the crew was great, the water was clear and the wreck looked like something out of a James Cameron film. Highly recommend this dive company. Got certified earlier this month with dive Oahu and I'm definitely hooked, seems like I have had nothing but good experiences with this group from their tech guy Jamie to the open water instructor Art, everyone is extremely knowledgeable and eager to help their patrons.
