Awesome experience. Derek and Russel were an awesome team. Fishing was slow, but that's how it is. We landed 2 dorado and lost 3. Spent a few extra hours on the water hunting for trophy fish but nothing was hungry. Make sure you understand that Hawaiian fishing is different and almost all trolling. It's a long boat ride, but the payoff can be huge. Just don't expect to be filling up with bait and doing any flylining, it's more of a wait and see fame. Boat is very clean and well taken care of. Gear is high quality and clean. Worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Had a great time with Capt. Russell, Derin, and Logan on a full day + plus charter. We landed 2 blue marlin and 2 striped marlin. We had 7 more knock downs. My customers enjoyed the experience and we'll definitely be back for more!!

I went out on this boat with my wife and her parents this past Tuesday. We had booked the full day exclusive charter +2 hours months in advance and met the crew at the harbor in Honolulu while it was still dark outside. Russell was the captain and a very nice but somewhat quiet guy. In addition to him we also had two deckhands on board to help with the fishing. The boat itself is a 50' Pacifica Sportfisher Yacht which had enough room outside for fishing and then had 2 bedrooms and plenty of space inside as well. After getting on the boat Russel asked us if we wanted to target the big guys or schools and we choose schools. After that we quickly headed out of the harbor and got our safety instructions and demonstrations. Our first stop was to find some bait balls and get some mackerel on board as live bait in case the lures were working on that day. The fishing for the makeral was to be done by the deckhands and while they pulled up a few fish, it was obvious that Russell wasn't happy with how they were biting for the day. I assumed it to be a bad omen but thankfully that wasn't the case. We eventually got to one of the places that he had targeted and with the live bait we quickly pulled up 11 Mahi Mahi one right after the other. It was like a game of musical chairs in the fighting chair because as soon as one was on the boat another was ready. They weren't exactly the biggest fish (maybe 8-14 lbs) but it was really nice for everybody to catch something. Once that was done we started going after the bigger fish for the day. Quickly after all the Mahi Action we had a Blue Marlin bite but he quickly got off the line. Thankfully not too long after that we got another bite and this one I was able to bring in. After a short but entertaining fight (I was on a lighter reel), we had the marlin on the boat (they already had a buyer lined up). It ended up being a 120 lb marlin and was absolutely massive. At this point we were maybe half way into our charter but things got a lot slower through the rest of the day. Even though we had already caught a ton of fish, the crew was constantly changing the lures hoping to get us that second marlin for the day. We only ended up having one more Marlin on and it got off the hook before we were able to fight it. Still, we stayed out for around 10 1/2 to 11 hours trying to catch that second marlin even though it never did happen. Whenever we got back to the dock we were able to hang up all of the fish and get photos with all of our catch. Even though in Hawaii the boat technically owns all of the catch and didn't have to share any with us, Russell ultimately allowed us to have the filets from two of the smaller Mahi Mahi. That was enough for two meals for our group of 4 and it was greatly appreciated. The bottom line for me is that I would recommend Magic Sportfishing to anyone looking for a good fishing charter in the Honolulu area. Russell and his crew were fantastic and all of us on the boat really had a great time!

The day started out ruff. We were waiting to see if the weather would clear. After hours of hard work from the captain and crew I landed the biggest fish of my life. Nobody caught any fish this day but we did! The cabin and deck was super clean. Air conditioning was nice. We had plenty of ice to keep our drinks and lunch cool. The staff was friendly and helpful. We appreciate you guys from Magic Fishing! Mahalo

All I can say is this charter did not disappoint!!! My husband and myself have fished all over the United States. This in my book was our best day fishing ever. I highly recommend the captain and crew from magic sport fishing . We had never fished for marlin or Ahi tuna . The guys took the time to go over everything, our fishing goals for the day. When we had the big one on hook they took the time to coach this beginner ! If you are on Oahu book with them !!!

Me and my fish! It's 574 pounds and 130 inches!

Once in a lifetime experience!!! Captain Russell and mates Jay and Austin made this adventure top shelf! Cpt Russell's skills and knowledge made it possible for me to hook and land a 574 pound blue marlin! Jay and Austin coached me through, nearly, an hour fight with that amazing fish, while the captain maneuvered the boat so I could land it!! What an incredible team that helped me with my once in a lifetime experience! The boat is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The crew was a joy to chat with and happy to answer any and all questions and they worked hard to make sure we had the best experience possible. We got lucky on this trip and they helped make it happen!! Thank you, guys!!

This was my first deep sea fishing experience EVER. After living in Hawaii for 3 wonderful years it was clear that I just had to do it. We booked a private charter and we were not disappointed. From start to finish the crew and captain were such a delight. We had a group of 6 people and every single one of us felt that it was a very personable experience. The water was a little rough and we had a few people that were on the sea sick side but the mike and braddah were amazing. They made sure that we were well taken care of. The boat is equipped with a bathroom, clean and spacious cabin and a full kitchen. We were able to move around the boat with no issue. First stop was to catch bait fish and we most certainly did. After that we headed to the high seas for some fishing. We stayed on the west side and cruised until captain found us birds! (Birds mean fish!) in no time we had fish on! Three fish on at once and that was quite a ride!!! Not 5 minutes later we had 2 more on! We were able to catch 5 total skipjack tuna! This was awesome! The crew kept the boat in pristine condition and made sure that everything was safe. It was great we didn't have to do anything other than enjoy the ride and catch some fish! On the way back we spotted a couple of whales which was such a treat! When we got back we requested to only take one fish back which they gladly cut for us. When we were in the harbor we saw a sea turtle and a stingray and were able to feed the turtle a little bit of our catch! Thank you Mike, Braddah and captain for such a memorable experience! I can't wait to come back and fish with y'all again!!

My dad and I went fishing yesterday with captain Russel and his 2 deckhands. We did a full day charter, and we had the best time. We caught a blue marlin (130 lbs), 4 striped marlin (60-85 lbs) , and a yellowfin tuna (80lbs) ! The captain and crew were extremely knowledgeable and helpful through out the whole trip. We have never caught so many pelagic fish in one trip! If you're trying to find a charter that will have your arm sore the next day then definitely go with magic sport fishing ! The captain to the crew were all outstanding.

**Start to finish an absolute class act** I decided to go on a fishing charter last minute and after looking at reviews and checking out boats I connected with the Magic Sports Fishing Charter. First off I called and spoke with Tracey and she helped square me away, she was extremely helpful and even took my call while she was in transit. Tracey confirmed there was "1 more slot" so we booked it. I received an email confirmation following my payment which outlined all the details for our full day trip (location, arrival time, food, etc). Once I showed up the crew was ready to rock and roll, led by Capt. Russell and First Mate Mike. Russell and Mike both educated us about safety on the boat as well as how the day will proceed (hooking a fish, reeling, etc). The crew was phenomenal during the high and low points of the day. During those high points you can quickly forget everything they told you at 5am while you have a fish on . Throughout the day Russell kept us on the fish, constantly eye balling for birds, movement on the water and talking to his network of fishermen. He says he's still looking for a job after 42 years of fishing but he's found not only a great business and hobby but a great crew to run the operation. The boat is in absolute tip top shape and during those low points we were able to play cards at the table, watch tv, listen to the radio and take a nap in one of the two bunks they have in the galley. Russell and Mike we both great conversationalists and as you can tell by the photo a happy crew who got on the fish thanks to Magic Fishing Charters.

Fish on!!!! We went out on Sunday 7/30/17 and this trip was nothing short of perfection!! We did a full day trip and we caught 5 fish including a 145 lbs Marlin and 4 Mahi-mahi. The boat is very clean and well maintained. Fishing gear is top of the line. To top this for our fishing trip we were greeted by the crew...Captain Toots, and deck hands Mike and Eric. These guys were so on it, making our day go smooth, enjoyable and did I mention..."we caught fish"...let's face it that don't always happen and that's why they call it Magic. We asked around and was told this is the boat to go on and they were right, it was a perfect birthday present for me. Thank you so much Toots, Mike and Eric, we sure hope next time we go we can have y'all as our crew. As the name of the boat say "magic" and these guys made our trip a magical experience. We will be back

Went for all day charter and had a great time. Darrin, Josh and Jay did an awesome job. We were there to catch fish and they made it happen! Thank you for a memorable experience.

I'd give these guys 10 stars if I could. Booked the shared charter with Tracey who was extremely helpful and followed up on all the questions I had. Great communication! Solid top notch crew. Captain Chris, Mikey and Brewski were awesome. Always having a good time and working their ass off too. Nothing but great things to say about these guys. If you ever get a chance, you need to roll with these boys. At the end of the day we got three 70 pound ahi yellow fin tunas and a tiny guy that we threw back. Not bad for a winter trip. We even got to take home a few steaks. Oh yeah the 50' boat is fabulous. Boarder line luxury fishing boat. Kitchen, bathroom, a couple of beds to rock you to sleep like a baby until they call your number and the BEST A/C for those hot winter Hawaiian days Lotta charter fishing boats in Hawaii and I'm sure they're good, but these guys are the best IMHO.

Once we got out on the water, the experience was unforgettable. We swam with colorful fish and sea turtles, saw dolphins, and even got to see false killer whales. It was truly a great day out at sea. The crew was exceptional: Capt. Dani, Ben, Faavae, Kania, Roxanne, Kirra, Bernard, and Keely all made the trip special. Keely deserves a special shout-out! The crew provided educational facts, acted as lifeguards, served food and drinks, and even danced, making the whole experience fun, safe, and memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an incredible ocean adventure in Hawai'i. Great service, beautiful wildlife, and an outstanding crew!

This tour is very misleading online snd I want to make sure ppl know what they are signing up for…read more The staff was wonderful and very organized. But despite being called a "Dolphin and You" tour, there is only dolphin WATCHING from the boat -- no swimming with dolphins. They also only stop at one snorkel spot in shallow waters.m whereas most companies have you snorkel at 2. Maybe if I had never been on another tour, I would have thought this was good, but I'd only recommend this for people who want to mainly watch things from the boat and not snorkel. I honestly saw more marine life where I live in OC. On a previous tour with a different company, I swam in waters where dolphins were swimming all around and underneath me -- it was a core memory, and I was hoping to recreate that experience. They also don't let you swim very far from the boat, which made the experience feel overly restrictive. Because the website is not clear I will lay down the iternary: 6:00am pick-up from hotel (about 1.5 hrs to get there) Restroom stop at Fareharbor 1 hr dolphin watching--basically your just on a boat 1 hr snorkel--will see sparse fish 1 hr return--will give you sandwich and water cups no water bottles, temporary tattoo offered Return to hotel: another 1.5 hrs to drop everyone off etc Kind of waste of money $180+ and my precious vacation time. Also, be wary of the reviews. They offer incentives for leaving one. Sorry, but as a Yelp Elite, my honest opinion can't be bought.

MANA sunset cruise from Ko Olina - the absolute highlight of our trip!!!…read more We are no strangers to Catamaran excursions - trips in the British Virgin Islands, Greece, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. By far, Captain Travis and First Mate Taylor were exceptional, leaving no detail to chance. We were warmly greeted with a drink and were given a very thorough safety briefing. Both were meticulous in their duties to their craft as well as to their guests. The catamaran was immaculate, an outstanding demonstration of the care and maintenance it receives - impressive for a 2008 Cat. Thanks MANA and crews for your care and concern. We had only 5 of us aboard ( they allow a maximum of only 6) which really enhanced the experience. As we got underway drinks were served and then came what I thought was going to be a sampling of local snacks. No, it was a full dinner made by Taylor that was some of the freshest, best food we have had on the Island, followed by a dessert second to none. The other guests dietary restrictions were taken into consideration and we sailed (and for a portion of the trip we were under full sail & not motoring) around with soft Hawaiian reggae playing. The two hours flew by.... We were regaled with stories of the Islands and some very interesting facts. Sure there are less expensive, far more crowded sunset tours... but NOTHING compares to this one. It was worth every cent. When we return we will have already booked this trip before we board our again! Do yourself a favor, splurge on a really personal Hawaiian experience and book this trip. You will be richly rewarded & have memories for years to come! There may be no traffic jams on the extra mile... but you will find on this excursion, Captain Travis & First Mate Taylor are on the extra mile & demonstrate what the extra mile should look like! A very important note - we recommend if you are coming from the Waikīkī area that you plan on leaving early and planning a light lunch at Ko Olina - the Monkeypod, or one of the restaurants in the hotels. The traffic leaving Waikiki in the afternoon is horrible in the afternoon and could take several hours to navigate to Ko Olina.
