If you are looking to get PADI certified before a trip coming up or just in general. I could not recommend Dive On it Scuba anymore. Allison, Mike & the team were incredibly helpful & friendly & able to make my tight schedule work. Diving may seem like a big scary new experience but the instructors are able to break it down and make you comfortable and confident through small groups while in class. You will go through 2 classes followed by 2 dives at a local pool to get adjusted before going into the open water. All in all in doesn't take up much of your time and you will find your self with a fun, exciting new hobby. My partner and I completed our open water diving certification here. I have no complaints and will recommend anyone that wants to get certified to do it here. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly. They really go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable in the water and have the skills you need to be a self sufficient scuba diver. Note that this does mean putting a little bit of work in. In addition to the course, you will learn how to clean your and maintain your gear and carry/transport your tanks. The course itself was very stress-free and they do a great job of monitoring conditions for open water dives to prioritize your safety. I'd suggest at the very least buying your mask and fins with them. If you don't already have gear let Allison get you sized right for gloves, boots, a mask and fins. My partner got all of her gear fitted by Allison and she had absolutely no frustrations or complaints during her dives. I used some of my surfing gear to safe a buck and I ended up wishing I just got everything fitted through them. read more

I got my open water scuba certification along with my nephew at Dive On It in September 2019. The classes were great and were held right at the store. The pool sessions were at the Cumberland High School right up the road. The open water dives were held at Fort Wetherill in Jamestown. It was very convenient, thorough, and both my nephew and I learned a lot from the experienced instructor Mike. The shop itself is very well outfitted. I bought all my gear from them. It is so much better to be able to go into a local dive shop and try things on, make sure they fit you properly, and compare them than trying to buy equipment online. The owners, Allison and Chris, are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are always very helpful in giving you their time and helping you to pick out gear that is right for you. They don't try to upsell you on more expensive equipment or things that you may not need. There are options of gear sold at the store for all levels and needs. You can also rent gear from the store if you don't have everything yet. On a side note, if you see any reviews from prior to 2017 know that they are from a previous dive shop that was located at the same location. It is under new ownership/management and the new store is very well run. I have shopped, rented tanks, and had my gear inspected at Dive On It several times since 2019 and have always had good experiences. If you plan to bring your face into the water with you, I would recommend that you don't buy your stuff online.  I did that and I ended up having to buy a new mask in the dive shop where I could actually try it on my actual face. Allison is wonderful, as is everyone there.  Great value for a SCUBA certification.  Rob Pelletier and Dan were very patient and gracious.  There wasn't nap time, but they feed you dinner.  A++ read more

I started shopping here again after a bad experience, because this place got sold and is under new management. I went diving with Allison, and she is a great instructor. I am currently taking my Divemaster through Diveonit and couldn't be happier with my choice. You become a part of a family when you start diving with Diveonit, not just a customer and not just a source of profit. The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable. If you're new to diving I would highly recommend coming here for your open water course, or if you are a seasoned diver, I would say this is the best dive shop around and is well worth the drive no matter where you're from! read more

This place is great! I've been there a few times, since I used to live close to it, and each time was better than the one before. Everyone there is great, (including the instructors) and informative. If you have a question make sure to ask and they'll help you, I'm sure. Although I live farther now, I can't see myself buying anything from anywhere else. Especially online. I wanted to support this local store instead of buying online so I decided to buy my wetsuit at this store on May 9th,2016. I was told it will come in A WEEK. After 2 WEEKS of not hearing from them (not even a tracking number that they said they will email to me ) I tried calling but couldn't get ahold of the owners. The assistant kept answering the phone and told us they will have the owners call us but never once did. On the 3RD WEEK, we were able to get ahold of the owner and he said that the wetsuit is in back order. (Thanks for letting me know after 3 weeks of waiting). I checked the JBL website and the size that I need is available so I dont understand why he said its in back order. A month passed since I ordered and paid for the item, I was told that it will be delivered that following Monday, June 13th. Monday came, still no call from the store. I called but no one answered, I tried using other phone and sure enough, someone picked up. I spoke to the owner and I found out that they messed it all up by ordering the wrong wetsuit. And on top of that, overcharged me $90 more for a wetsuit that I did not want. I was appalled when the owner said I was "essentially calling him a liar" after telling him that the item I needed was really available on the manufacturer's website. I was frustrated and extremely annoyed at how they handled the situation. I decided to cancel it and ask to get my money back. They refused to give cash and said they will give us a check after 2 days. Since it was only 5pm at the time and they're still open, I wanted to just go there so I can be reimbursed. But they said they do not have a checkbook at the store that day. Wow. After failing to deliver the order and being insensitive to the timing issues, the least that they could do is be considerate and not give me a hard time getting my money back. Since I am new to spearfishing, the unprofessionalism of the owner and poor customer service made it discouraging for me to enjoy the sport. The whole transaction happened in over a month and NOT ONCE did the owner bother to call and update me. I ended up disputing the transaction through my bank and I got the money the next day. I ordered the wetsuit online and it came after 3 days. read more

Wish I had read Ray's review before purchasing a dive mask at dive on it scuba. We had almost the same experience except We paid in cash and Matthew refuses to refund our money. He NEVER returned our phone calls or emails and only informed is the mask was in when I put a negative review on his Facebook page. We ordered the mask July 8th and he informed us the mask was in on sept 24. Said it would take 2-3 weeks; after 5 weeks, we called yet again and wife actually picked up the phone. She said mask was on back order. We asked her to cancel the order and she agreed-though Matthew and his wife deny this. so if that is a lie, why did they wait inform us the mask was in sept as a reply to a negative review? If asked, Matthew would probably say they did-ok show me your phone records and show me the receiving docs from the manufacturer. the only time we heard back from the shop was when I posted the above mentioned negative review on Facebook. Within 10 minutes, he posted a response that was so full of misinformation and out and out lies, I was dumbfounded. After he posted his response on Facebook, we went to the store to try and get a refund, Matthew became belligerent and accused my boyfriend of scaring his children, who were in the back room with their mother. Matthew threatened to call the police as my boyfriend said he would not leave without a refund. Matthew began recording the interaction so my boyfriend called the police. Matthew got no trespassing orders against us (as if I would ever step foot in his store again) AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT-horrible customer service and not trustworthy. Filing complaint with better business bureau and the attorney general's office. Oh, and Matthew also said he would file harassment charges if we continued trying to intimidate him. We are not trying to intimidate him-yep 2 people in their 60's are really scary-we just want him to do the right thing. Not sure if this posting on Yelp constitutes harassment but it is worth it if I can save one person from shopping at this place. You must be a good friend of the verriers as you keep talking about customers who are irrational people who think the world revolves around them. You are actually describing the owners. As a customer, I tried to communicate with the shop numerous times;they wouldn't respond until i put a negative review on Facebook. But you would know that IF you actually read my review and didn't just believe what the owners said. There's a reason why they're one of the top dive stores in the area. Unfortunately there are irrational people in the world who feel like the world revolves around them and cry when things don't go their way, or when they make mistakes and expect a business to pay for them. Sorry but that's that the way the real world works. I have spent many hours with the owners and they are extremely knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions I or anyone have pertaining to diving, even though I have yet to purchase a single piece of equipment from them in the year or so that I've been shopping around. Diving is fun but can also be dangerous so I want to be sure I trust the people who are going to teach me how it's done. Their staff is very familiar with the areas they take you to dive and safety seems to be a top priority. They have, or can get you anything you need to make sure you're ready for a fun and safe dive. Matt has proven to be extremely knowledgeable and experienced with his profession and has quality people that he allows to help his customers. I look forward to getting my certifications and diving with these guys often. Oh yea, the boat is pretty nice too. read more
