Great & professional customer service -- my wife and I are pretty new to everything and wanted to find some solid gear for some snorkeling on an upcoming vacation. The owner was a huge help, showed us a variety of options at different price points, let us try a bunch of masks on and gave a lot of useful advice and insight. When we settled on equipment, he cleaned and prepped everything for us at no additional charge, and even showed us some amazing videos from trips and dives he had been on. Super enjoyable chatting with someone who is obviously so passionate about what he does, and helping others to get into it as well. Highly recommend this shop! read more

I found Giant Stride while I was in the area for work, and needed to get my regulator serviced. To my surprise, they offered me same-day service! Being an instructor from Hawaii, I had never seen a shop with that kind of turnaround. Unfortunately my regulator had a crack, and I intended to dive before they could get a replacement in. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful as I debated which I would purchase as a replacement. While I ended up not able to dive with them on this trip, I know who I'm coming back to whenever I'm in Rhode Island again! read more

Do not believe this bad 1 star person. They probably were window shopping and employee didn't want to haunt them. I went there for the first time ever and only needed a mask strap. They didn't have the kind I needed. They had to order it and it came in two days. When I ordered he said if it didn't fit he'll take one off a brand new mask to make sure I have one for Hawaii. I bought three mask straps for $20 so it wasn't some big sale but yet they acted like it was. This place is amazing. 5 STAR ALL THE WAY read more

Awesome dive shop. Showed up a half hour before closing and was trying to decide on a freediving mask. Kept the owner 1 hour past the closing time and not once did i ever feel rushed. He had great stories about diving the andrea doria and the uboat and we sat for an hour and talked. By far the best dive shop in rhode island. Such a huge selection and if you want something thats not in stock. My girlfriend ordered a wetsuit and it was her in 4 days. Dropped my reg off to be service on a saturday night and i got a call on tuesday afternoon. They were closed sunday so a day and a half is the fastest turn around i have ever seen for my regs getting serviced. Highly recomend it. Red is actually a really nice guy . read more

I am a newbie when it comes to scuba. I just completed my certification at Giant Stride in preparation for some diving in Thailand. Everyone I encountered at the shop was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. It's readily apparent that Red (owner) and John (Dive instructor) have been diving for probably longer than they'd care to have me mention ;-) They know the equipment inside and out and do many repairs on site. The dive instruction was top notch. John did a great job conveying the concepts a diver should understand, the use of the equipment and still managed to keep it fun! read more

Don't recommend at all! The selection looked ok, pretty standard for a dive shop here. There was a big roped off section that said employees only or ask for help (something along those lines) which would have been ok if we had actually gotten any sort of service here. We walked in and there was a guy messing around behind the counter who said he'd be with us in a moment. 20 minutes later and were still waiting for help. We asked, but no additional acknowledgement of our presence was made. We left after 20-25 minutes, since we weren't getting any help and were being rudely ignored. It would have been different if he had been helping other people, but we were the only ones in the store! If they treat all customers this way, I don't know how they're still in business. Another customer walked in and he got a bit of attention, but all he needed was something at the counter, and counter guy I guess didn't mind helping people of he didn't have to leave his spot. The horrible service is a shame, especially since the "Ocean State" is severely lacking in dive shops. If we're in the area again, we may go back to see if they've gained some sort of comprehension of customer service, but I can't recommend this place based on what I've experienced here. Stay away and spend your money at a shop that knows how to treat people. read more

Sent here by Suunto when my computer failed. I didn't even buy it here and they worked very hard to get Suunto to make good on their guarantee. When they ultimately nixed this, the shop owner offered me great discounting on any non-Suunto computer. All of the guys were great about service and making sure I was happy. Nice place and they seem like they would be a lot of fun for a rec dive. Looking forwrad to summer to make some trips out with them. read more
