What an incredible meal! This Michelin one-star restaurant absolutely delivered from start to finish. Here's what we had: 4 Insigney oysters, clams gratinated with lemon thyme, red tuna tartare in ponzu sauce, sea bass carpaccio with green apple jelly, squid with garlic, parsley, and chorizo, sole meunière, and a spiny lobster smoked with rosemary. For dessert, we finished with a chocolate soufflé and chocolate mousse -- both flawless. Every dish was beautifully executed, and honestly, this place puts 3 star Le Bernardin in NYC to shame. Every time I dine in Paris, I'm reminded that French restaurants here simply operate on another level -- the Michelin standards in France are just higher. The service was excellent -- attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere had that perfect casual elegance that makes fine dining in Paris so enjoyable. The lobster was a touch overcooked, but still very flavorful, and the sole meunière was absolute perfection -- buttery, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth good. All the raw dishes were impressively fresh and refined, and the desserts were rich and beautifully balanced. We didn't realize the spiny lobster was priced by weight because we didn't look at the prices...so when the bill came to about €1,200, we were a bit surprised -- but after laughing it off and tasting the rice dish they made from the leftover lobster, it felt about right. Everything, down to the bread and butter, side vegetables, and mashed potatoes, was spot-on. An unforgettable meal -- refined yet full of personality. Was very excited about this seafood-focused place but it was quite a let-down, I am afraid. On the positive side, the space is elegant and has a bit of an Art Deco charm to it. Outside of that, the service was beyond incompetent (pretending not to speak a single word of English, pretty much grabbing the appetizer plate from me despite a response that I could use more time, and despite the appropriate position of the cutlery, not removing the crumbs from the table, not bothering with cleaning up the dirty plates and dirty napkins from a table next to me after the guests left for at least half an hour, bringing the bread but not the butter, and the list continues)... The food experience was not consistent either: I loved the squid carbonara but the monkfish for the main course was like rubber, yet the side of seasonal veggies was delightfully fresh and reminded that it is still spring outside... In other words, go figure. But overall, I expected more consistency from a place that has claimed a spot on the Michelin list and charges accordingly. In my opinion, there are more humble but much more pleasant spots in Paris that understand and celebrate hospitality. read more

This seafood specialist is not new but it sure does deliver a complete dining experience. Located in the 7th arrondissement on the corner of a lovely park, the restaurant is quite large. It has a bar with an adjacent more formal dining room; both offer the same lovely menu. Not enough can be said about the restaurant manager Bob or the sommelier Sebastian. They provide the most gracious hospitality, spot on service with no pomp and circumstance. We started with the sardines and carpaccio. Although we were not expecting a sardine pate, it was delicious and pretty in presentation. The carpaccio was fresh, cut beautifully and extremely tasty. The star though was most certainly the squid carbonara. This is not a pasta dish; it is a bowl of delicately cut rings of squid in the most perfect carbonara sauce. The foam, the egg, c'est magnifique. The fish is filleted tableside and was cooked to perfection. The mushroom side was memorable because of the accompanying sauce. The potatoes were smooth but pretty standard. We were completely satiated with our meal but they provided mini desserts at the end and they were scrumptious. The wine list is super solid. We had a white chateau neuf de pape and were very pleased. We took the remainder of the bottle back to the hotel which was perfect to enjoy another day. I could literally dine here several times a week if I lived in Paris. It isn't inexpensive but it is wonderful. Would come back in a heart beat. read more

Had an amazing New Years Eve dinner at Divellec. Great way to end the year with this seafood driven menu with decadent ingredients including golden caviar on brioche toast, royal langoustine with caviar, followed by scallop on the whole shell with black truffle emulsion. Next dish was the highlight: blue lobster from Ile de Chausey with black truffles. Lobster was cooked perfectly and was really fresh. Devellec is well worth the Michelin Star, great service, and real tasty seafood. read more

Sent here by the concierge at Pavillon de la Reine. Beautiful room. But the service is..terrible. First, even though we were an early table they wanted to seat us right at the door at the worst table in an empty restaurant. On a Saturday night they couldn't offer cocktails because they didn't have a bartender. The food made up for a lot. The tuna appetizer was a major upside surprise. The bread poulet was perfect. However the Paris-Brest they served me was stale--I don't t eat it. They were not happy accommodating the one vegan in our party. For the money, what a disappointing experience. read more

This is the first Michelin star restaurant I've ever been too, so I had my hopes up very high and it still exceeded my expectations. The dinner consisted mainly of seafood so if you're allergic or don't enjoy seafood I don't recommend this place. They had excellent service and the way they would present the food was an experience on its own. For example my boyfriends aunt ordered the rum cake and they brought down this big droplet and had it filled with rum then graciously poured it over the cake. For the sole fish they cook the fish whole and remove the bones and serve it on a plate beautifully for you. They have a wonderful selection of wines and I'm so happy I had a chance to dine here! We enjoyed the meal of a lifetime here. The sommelier, Claude, and the entire staff were incredible. From the moment we entered the beautiful yet approachable environment -- one of those places that epitomizes the French meaning of ambience -- we felt welcomed and comfortable. The staff guided us through the menu and we decided to go with the 6- course carte blanc (the chef's suggestions), pairing each course with a French wine. Claude, the som, paired each wine perfectly, accentuating the flavors of each course and describing the history and origins of each bottle. To start, we were served a delicious amuse of tempura fried calamari, and gambas, then treated to our one of our absolute favorite dishes ever - a scallop carpaccio with golden caviar (a signature dish of the restaurant) as well as a dish of crispy wrapped and fried langostín (so tender they literally melted in your mouth). Next came the frog legs... See our attached picture for the impressive presentation (they were served on a "pond" with Lily pad garnishes!). We don't typically enjoy a frog legs and but Claude recommended these highly and we were glad he did. They were very tender and easy to eat, and the moistest we had ever had. We also enjoyed the crispy wrapped bluefin tuna, served rare, and while we enjoyed this and it was delicious overall, we did feel it could have been served a tad more rare and with a touch more salt. One of our absolute favorite dishes was the seared scallops served on the half shell with a potato and leek foam and fresh truffle. This was not as light as a dish as it sounds. It came with three large scallops and the potato leek sauce that they rested upon were deliciously rich and hearty. Each gallup was topped with a generous slice of fresh black winter truffle. Out of everything out we would both recommend this dish the most. For our final and main course, we were served two entrees -- the bone-in monk fish tail topped with green olives, and - rolled Dover sole topped with black truffles and hearts of palm, and an accompaniment of ricotta ravioli with beurre mate. These were all delicious! Finally, for dessert, we were treated with a wonderful chocolate soufflé, perfectly cooked, hot and with a perfect consistency, and a fortified wine from 1980 that was truly spectacular. Everything was so special and truly delicious at Divellec, but it was the staff, the overall execution, and especially the sommelier that made this experience so memorable. Our poor french unfortunately limits us from remembering the names of each of the incredible wines that Claude recommended to go with each course, but I promise he will not let you down so should you choose to go the same route. They were some of the best pairings we have ever had, and made the food taste that much better! We absolutely recommend Divellec for a night in Paris that you will never forget! read more

I have had dinner here many times in past and enjoyed it. Not sure if ownership changed but two weeks ago had miserable meal and service. Totally uninspiring and wildly expensive. Rude host and amateurish service. Cold food and was told we could not sit in one half of restaurant because it was slow thus that side closed. When we left they had sat two tables there. I can see why casual bistros are so popular. Sadly a poorly run restaurant and can't imagine long for the world. Don't go save your money read more

My favorite meal in Paris. They only do seafood but it was amazing executed and the service is friendly although we did have to get their attention a few times. I think the menu changes often as the dishes were different from the reviews I read. My favorites were the oysters, mullet ceviche and the blue lobster. We also ordered a bottle of wine from by recommendation from the sommelier and it was very reasonably priced for its quality compared to some of the other places we have been too and paiRed perfectly with our food. The best meal I have had in a long long time! The service and food here are both top-notch. My mom has food allergies and our waiter was extremely well versed on the ingredients and preparation for each dish and recommended several items for her. Each dish we had was well thought out and there weren't any superfluous ingredients that you find in similarly upscale restaurants. The seafood is definitely the star of each plate. I am no expert in French wine so I took recommendations from the sommelier and I was very happy with each glass he poured.... maybe a little too happy by the end of the meal. My wife and I travel the world and love salt encrusted branzino (loup de mer in French). We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and the concierge recommended Divellec. The restaurant did not disappoint. My wife had the tuna tartar appetizer and she said it was amazing. Their wine list is great and definitely manageable - 1er and Grand Crus as you would expect. The chef is young, having recently purchased the restaurant from an older chef that retired. The service was great and friendly. If you like seafood, this is a great stop on the Left Bank in Paris. read more

My husband and I went on a 2-week trip to Amsterdam, Paris and London, and our adult daughter (who speaks a little French and knows a lot about food) flew-in from NYC to join us for the Paris "leg." She organized our Paris tourist itinerary, including a Saturday (7 October 2017) lunch at Divellec...and it was perfection: delicious, beautiful, and lovely service. By far the best meal we had on our trip: pricey, but worth every penny (euro)! And although Divellec was elegant, it was also friendly and comfortable (a few locals showed up at the bar at @ 2-3PM in jeans). If I had one complaint (not specific to Divellec, but in general), we Yanks don't understand tipping practices in Europe. I spent the entire vacation feeling that we were under-tipping, and never moreso than I felt at Divellec; in general, we were advised that a "token" tip was enough, but it never felt right. read more
