Different space. Different drinks. Same backlit menu. The space is Emma Jane during the day, which can be a bit confusing. The bar is less pretentious than the last location, but still a bit stifling. The service was great and we overall had a great time there, but the drink menu could be expanded. One very welcome change from the last location is they no longer blare music over the speakers. Instead it's a very pleasant environment where you can actually talk to your friends.

Was looking for a new cocktail bar to try before our dinner reservation on Friday night and came across Diversion. I hadn't heard of it yet but I liked the vibe of the website so I booked a 6pm reservation. Upon check in/arrival I realized that I had accidentally booked the reservation for Saturday night instead of Friday! The host asked us to wait a moment while he tried to see if they could fit us in. They said that they could and led us to a table inside. The bar was empty but for a couple of other people that walked in when we did but it had filled out a bit by the time that we left. Apparently the reservations are typically for a "90 minute experience" which I will admit that I am still a bit perplexed by because the menu is a la cart. After placing an order for a couple of the mini tinis along with a tequila and an order of the margarita lab shots, our waiter arrived with warm towels and complimentary glasses of hot dashi broth. Cocktails arrived promptly along with a small plates of snacks. The margarita lab shots were a fun little explosion in your mouth and the tiny tinis were good. My husband also tried the negroni before we left and said that was good as well. Overall this new cocktail bar still seems to be getting it's footing but it was cute and fun if a bit on the pricey side.

Very good service. The server and bartender were very knowledgeable and interactive with our party. Everything I had was very good. Loved the surprise samples they brought to the table.

We went on a Saturday night as a group of four and had about a 20-minute wait to be seated which was not bad at all. The cozy, intimate atmosphere made it worth it, and the drink menu was full of creative options. Service was warm and attentive, and I especially appreciated that our server asked about dietary restrictions right away. I tried the Culture Exchange cocktail and the Santanico mini-tini. My eyeballs and taste buds were very pleased with both drinks. My group and I were disappointed that we didn't get to try the Margarita lab shots (they were sold out hours before our arrival), but that's ok because that just means we'll have to go back again.

Apparently Diversión Cocktails has shuttered its doors. I'm not totally surprised. I visited Diversión twice over a five month span. As good as the drinks were, I personally thought they were overpriced. Diversión was trying to give upscale vibes with a speakeasy feel, but I think they fell a little short. 1st Visit: We had a reservation for three. My friend and I were running late. I wanted to let them know, but I couldn't find a phone number. I sent a DM on IG and never received a reply. When we arrived, I realized that a reservation wasn't even needed because it was not busy in there (on a Friday night). The drinks were pretty pricey. They were divided by Indulgence and House Cocktails. They had a very small snack menu that had items like caviar and charcuterie. The Indulgence menu was just that. The cocktails were very creative. The Pho Cup'd (read it fast for the play on words) was an unusual cocktail that looked like a bowl of pho. I had the Backyard Bounty and L'Armandine and they were both very good. The bartenders checked in on us in the beginning, but towards the end of the night, they took forever. My friend was charged for a drink even though she was told it was on the house because she ordered the last one. 2nd Visit: I came with my friend and her significant other. We again had a reservation, but it wasn't needed. Many reviews mentioned how the building looked sketchy on the outside (which was true). On this visit, the parking lot caught my attention because it was in worse shape. Weeds were growing through cracks in the cement and it just looked like it had been neglected. I ordered a drink from the Indulgence menu called the Glow + Tonic. The drink was very pretty and it came with a nice presentation from the bartender. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't worth $30. My friends enjoyed their drinks too. We only had one drink and then moved on to another bar in the area. It's always a bummer to see a local business close it's doors, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to check out some of their cocktails.

The experience will blow you away. Make a reservation if you enjoy speciality cocktails and great service

been here twice now and the service is phenomenal. it's a great experience- so fun. I've tried all of the special shots - the margarita ones are super fun little bubbles but they taste mostly like mezcal (not bad but if you hate the smokey flavor keep in mind) the other two are super yummy and not strong alcohol tastes- the colada has a yummy passionfruit mousse. I love the kind of blue - like an espresso martini with a unique twist. the matcha cocktail with a beignet was delicious. the quiet life is a bit heavy on the bitter aperitivo. the among giants is like a strawberry marg spinoff. the cocktail menu is stacked with unique concoctions and robust flavor profiles. I'd love a couple of sweeter options (I'm not a bitter drink person) if I were to have any notes- i'd love to try some of the mini tinis but they sound very boozy - I like drinks where the alcohol is well masked and would love more options. i'm not sure if you can order off the menu, I haven't asked for fear that it would be an overpriced version of an eastside or lemon drop. my only qualm is the food menu- we tried the mini grapes (love) and truffle nachos and were surprised at how tiny the portions were for the price. the truffle nachos definitely had great truffle flavor which I know isn't cheap, but to call them nachos is a bit misleading - it's like 10 chips lol. come here after dinner not before! the menu changes often so i'll definitely be back as they continue to evolve ! all of the staff are phenomenal, so welcoming and the experience is very special. the ambience is lovely - quiet and candlelit (great for date night) with pretty r&b music like solange

When we arrived there was a wait even though we had a reservation. There were 2 parties ahead of us and we waited about 20 mins before we were seated. The dim lit atmospheres surrounded by lit candles is perfect for a date night and the wait staff is friendly. Once seated we were offered hot towels and complimentary shots of a Japanese tea that reminded us of a ramen broth. To start we had a round of margarita shots which comes in sets of 3. It was a different concept I've never had before it literally bursts in your mouth. For drinks we had the time piece, operation white flame, culture exchange and amongst giants. My favorite was amongst giants as it was on the refreshing side. My actual drink was the time piece cocktail which was made with mezcal the other ingredients help balance it out so the mezcal wasn't overpowering. The white flame operation cocktail had the best presentation you were given a card with a machine prior to your drink arrival. For bites we had Th e KFC or Korean fried chicken, Stuffed rambutants and truffle nachos. The truffle nachos is not a warm dish so after awhile it's overwhelming would prefer it a hot dish. The KFC was the best bites we had there came with 3 different dipping sauces. We also ordered the cosmo shots that come in a 2 piece this was made out of heavy whipping cream so it isn't as creamy as ice cream would be and the vodka is not overpowering. Overall a unique experience though keep in mind there is 90 minute time slot per reservation and reservations are highly recommended. They do say they accept walk-ins if they have tables available but when we were there, they had to turn around a few parties as they were fully booked.

This place looks like it's nothing from the outside but it is everything!! The bartenders showed so much hospitality. This place makes immersible cocktails, not your ordinary bar. I highly recommend also make a reservation. They ask you what you like and make you a beverage according to your tastes. Love it 10/10!

The outside of the building looks like it could be a strip club. Go to the door on the right side of the building. When you walk in, it will take a moment for your eyes to adjust. It is very dark and intimate. Once your eyes adjust, you can see that it is very nice and well decorated. I made a reservation, but it was early in the evening and probably wasn't needed. However if you come in later than 5:30, I would totally recommend a reservation. We were escorted to a dark corner of the bar. Unfortunately the music was a touch too loud for my taste and there was a large party talking over the music. We were handed menus and the menus are back lit. These menus light up. So cool. The cocktails are expensive. But this is for the experience and they are well thought out. I tried the Pho' cupped cocktail. It was served warm with pho broth, lime and jalapeño. It was really tasty and it really felt like a meal. It was nice to sip on the chilly day. My friend ordered the Smokey Old Fashioned. It was smoked and covered in a cloche and uncloched at the table. The area filled with a warm aroma of a wood smoke. We each ordered another drink. I had something that came with boba. Everything was really well thought out and tasty. Overall, this was a fun experience. Due to the cost of cocktails, this is a great first date or special occasion place. Not sure I would come here every week. I personally would like to have the lights turned up a touch, and the music turned down. It was dark and intimate but if I can't hear my date, that is a problem.

    Window facing seating. So beautiful.

I am so happy Diversion is back in a new location! The dining experience is unmatched and so unique. The staff was the absolute best. I was given a complimentary cosmopolitan shot for my birthday (lit candle included). I tried the margarita shots, the culture exchange, the vilanova ritual and the KFC chicken appetizer. 100/10 rating.

We were visiting and I just kept seeing Diversion in social media. The concept is awesome and the drinks were delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more unique cocktails. Food-We did not order food(had an upcoming dinner reservation), but did order delicious drinks. Atmosphere - Where they are located looks sketchy but it's so worth it once you get inside. Our Uber driver even asked if we were sure this was the right place . We walked in to a dim speakeasy vibe. The menus were lit up so you could see well. We were the only customers there at our 6:30 reservation on a Thursday. Two additional couples came in towards 7:30. We sat at the bar chef counter, it was great seeing them make the drinks and just interacting. Service - The service was amazing. You can tell the bartenders are very passionate about their craft. They gave us more recommendations and were just very hospitable. If you've been to Aviary it's very similar.

We really enjoyed this place, and we will definitely be back! We almost drove past it at first, because it is a smaller, minimally marked building inside a massive parking area. But it was so nice not to have to hunt for parking for a change! The front door looks speakeasy-style with a door knocker, but we walked in and there was a sign that said please wait to be seated. We did not have a reservation but were able to get a spot at the bar as walk ins. They have these cool bar dividers to help you feel almost like you are at a private booth even though technically others are seated right next to you. Each drink is carefully crafted and designed, with an intricate presentation. The bartenders and mixologists were incredibly helpful and great at explaining and suggesting. Please check out the pictures I posted for each drink we got to try - we enjoyed them all! I think my favorites were the District 5 and the L'Amardine (topped with fennel oil - so interesting!).

Does this bar get busy on a Thursday night?

Not really. There are about 10 seats at the bar and 8(?) tables. Everyone is seated and the place is very intimate. So busy to them is still rather quiet.

It looked dark, clubbish, and fun (exactly what I was looking for) and I couldn't wait to come here. After a 25 minute Uber ride we were downtown and walking to our destination. At first we could not find it but thankfully a nice gentlemen showed us where it was. Upon walking in, darkness with these bright lights paved our way. We sat down at the bar, but realized dancing did not start until 10pm. The bartender came over and said to us "we have a speakasy behind door #3" we were like WHAT! Let's go. So, we walked down the dark hallway and pushed open door #3 (hence the name) to find this super cool speakeasy bar. Dim lights, really modern decor, comfy suede chairs and best of all, some really great cocktails. If you are ever in Downtown Houston, I highly recommend you coming here. I promise you will have the best time. We did not stay for dancing.

Friday after work during happy hour and the prices could not be beat, especially with their lobster bites (was sitting at about $30, and we got them half off!) Drinks were fantastic! I selected the "Golden Cadillac" that comes with a miniature bottle of Grand Marnier inside of it. Very good. My company decided on an array of appetizers for his "main course", while I went with their Fried Salmon (served with Mac and cheese, and collard greens). Omg! So tasty! The pepper was prevalent throughout, but it did not over power the flavor! I make collard greens at home (and learned from one of the best), and even I found theirs to be pretty good! My company selected fried ribs, along with the lobster bites, and crawfish queso dip, and their wings! I tasted what he got, and we both agreed that the wings were "off the chart" delicious with a beautiful straight off the grill smoky flavor! So good that he got another order to go! Lol. What made our experience there amazing was our server Ray (Rajean = think "the 90's TV Show "Living Single"..."smooches"!)...she was the best!! From her hello, to walking us through the menu (as first-timers), her recommendations, her energy, her smile, and her being very relatable. Loved her! My only gripe was the bathrooms, the ladies room needed attention (and could use a spruce all around). It doesn't help that it is a bit small, but yeah, they need to focus some efforts on ensuring it's upkeep. As for seating and parking, there is a bar area and limited seating toward the front of the restaurant, but it does extend to back of the house with additional seating. There is also patio seating as well. Because this place seems popular, it is best to reserve ahead to ensure your seating. Parking is very limited! They do however, offer valet (but at $20+). There is off-street parking, but be careful since this is a residential area and nothing is secure. All in all, I really had a great time and left with my belly full! Definitely worth checking out!
