I fear I've found another happy hour spot that I will be frequenting! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upstairs definitely gives the ultimate post work happy hour vibe and I live for it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The upstairs portion gives more of a casual lounge feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And view from the upstairs rooftop just really sets the mood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was pretty good. Wouldn't describe it as the most over the top, impeccable service, but it was good all the same. Food and drinks were pretty good and flavorful too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The downstairs portion of the restaurant is also pet friendly (I believe).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cannot wait to return to this spot!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This bar has a fun lounge vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located in the heart of Rice Village, this spot if the perfect oasis for a date night, happy hour, or any other sort of meet up/outing The lounge itself is located just upstairs from Hungry's, and it's has the same management and even menu. So, if you want a more chill lounge vibe go upstairs, but if you want more of a restaurant vibe then Hungry's is also a Greta option[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Lounge shares its food and drink menu with Hungry's. There's a variety of entrees to choose from. The apps and pizzas are great for sharing. There is also a solid cocktail menu that includes signature and classic drinks. I'm a fan of the brunch menu and the mimosa flights When you are finished, consider taking a stroll through Rice Village. There's plenty of shopping, desserts, health/self care, and libation options in the area Some tips: Occasionally there are events being held in the Lounge, so, book a reservation or call ahead. Also, there is complimentary valet parking, or you can find free parking a block away of Chaucer Cheers!!

I celebrated my birthday in March at this location and everything was amazingly good! We had a party of 11, no problem for our waiter at all. Service was excellent, no delays or issues with any of the food we ordered. After we dined downstairs, we went upstairs for cocktails! I definitely recommend this place 10/10 on food service and ambience!

Wanted to change my venue for an afternoon of reading on a Sunday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I specifically wanted a nice patio and was directed here by Google.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For anyone who may be confused, it's directly above Hungry's, not a separate building. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With it being Sunday, it was very busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The seating was self serve and with that being said, there was a bit of a delay getting a waiter and I had multiple people involved with my order and assistance. I ordered the Chilaquiles and aperol gimlet, both of which, I enjoyed. HH is 3 to 6 daily but I opted to head home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute spot for sure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Upstairs Bar and Lounge is an attractive upscale casual bar with very good food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The indoor setting can be considered somewhat romantic while the outdoor second level deck is more casual with lots of TVs and high top seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a great cocktail menu with something for everyone or you can get creative with your request. We've had the same server twice and he did an excellent job with additional descriptions and opinions of both drinks and food. The food menu is impressively large for a bar and I've throughly enjoyed each item ordered over two visits. Don't be afraid go beyond the typical bar food, my exploration is just getting started.

Located upstairs above Hungry's restaurant in Rice Village. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Has both indoor & outdoor seating plus an indoor space with a glass door that could be used for private dining. I love the upstairs, outdoor patio. it's a nice size, with TVs & multiple fans, Dimly lit, nice vibe in the evening[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Food: Crab cake appetizer. 3.5/5, was not crab meat forward, more "bready" than I prefer & flavor was basic. Brussel sprouts: 4/5 they were good, the balsamic glaze made them My dinner mate got the gyro pita where the meat was very tender & tasty. 4/5 Spicy Mezcal Paloma cocktail was good. Not really spicy. I substituted OJ for grapefruit since i can't drink grapefruit juice. Service was fine, no complaints. Nice spot to pop in for a bite & drinks.

I wish I could remember the name of my pizza. It was sooooo delish! Definitely one of the best pizzas I've have! Ambiance was chill and intimate. Theres's an outside seating area as well but with the houston heat, we chose to sit in the inside. Service was prompt and food was fresh.

Came here for a drink and sat at the bar. Bartender was really nice and efficient! They have a variety of cocktails, wine, beer, and bar food. Cool vibe for drinks and appetizers. Love that they have Daou wine too - from close to home.

Came here for happy hour and it did not disappoint! We had the whole balcony basically to ourselves. Although it was warm, the balcony had shade and cooling fans which kept us comfortable. Our server took amazing care of us as well - she was attentive and gave great recommendations. They have an awesome happy hour - half off cocktails, $10 pizzas, and $4 off their appetizers. They also have daily specials on top of these and kids eat free on Mondays! I got to try a variety of cocktails - the spicy pineapple margarita was sweet and spicy - just enough kick to make it exciting. The Paloma was very smoky which brought out the mezcal flavor nicely. The gimlet was my favorite - I loved the herbal fragrance and flavor and enjoyed the grapefruit juice! We shared the brussel sprouts and wings. Both were amazing - the brussel sprouts were crispy, sweet, and dupe flavorful. The wings were well cooked and had great flavor. We tried the garlic Parmesan and the honey habanero. The manager checked on us and was very hospitable. I could not say a negative thing about this experience. We will for sure make this a regular go-to spot! Give them some love!

Upstairs is always a cute little vibe! Love coming here for happy hour especially on Sunday. Valet service is tip based I recommend doing valet there's not too many free parking spots in the lot and it's always packed. I always order the Spanish dip. It never disappoints, but of course you have to add a little bit of salt to it. I ordered the pepperoni pizza which was super cheesy. Love it! I always get the frose. They have the best frose I've ever had. Everybody I was with enjoyed their food!

One of my favorite places to come for happy hour because at the time of this review, they offer it daily from 3-6 pm. The bartenders and staff are super friendly. I really enjoy ordering the spicy pineapple margarita. The rosé on the happy hour menu is pretty nice as well. The food is consistently delicious. I really like the green chile shrimp ceviche. The hummus is phenomenal and their pizzas are pretty great too.

I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I asked for something tropical and not too sweet. It was pretty good but not as complex as the catch 22. My husband liked the jaded merchant better than the dew drop. He also was sipping far too much of my mocktail which speaks volumes about how good it was. Love the moody vibes, drinks, and service. So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

We Ubered over, so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. Ambiance (3.5/5): Five Central is big! There's a big restaurant, a cigar lounge, a huge patio, and more. While we dined at the restaurant, it seems like there's a ton to check out here. They often will host live music too as I saw some ads about it while I was in the restroom. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was great. She was friendly, attentive, and she went above and beyond. They brought me the wrong side, and I told her it was okay, but she ended up bringing me the right side a few minutes later. Which meant my meal had three sides instead of the two it came with. I really appreciated that! Drinks (4/5): Five Central has a good list of cocktails and more, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I went with a Shirley Temple lol. That brought me back. One of my favorite beverages as a kid. They were out of maraschino cherries, but we made it work. Food (4/5): We started off by splitting the coconut curry wings and the parmesan chicken bites. Out of the two appetizers, the chicken bites were my favorite. They were fried just right, crispy, while still tender inside. The sauce smothered on top made the dish. The wings, on the other hand, while flavorful, were a bit small. Still good though. With that being said, the star of the evening was my entree: the fried chicken. Fried chicken is either going to be a hit or a miss... here, it's definitely a hit. Crispy and well-seasoned on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Served with a sweet hot sauce, Texas toast, and your choice of two sides. I went with fries and mashed potatoes. The sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were a buttery heaven and the fries were crisp and you could tell they weren't frozen. It's a generous portion size, too! I ate half and took the rest to-go. If you're looking for some Southern cooking, with love, Five Central is an awesome spot.
