This woman is absolutely amazing! I wish I came here first when I got my hair braided a few weeks prior. I ended up bringing my daughter here about a month ago and it was the best decision I could've made for her. She was ready for my daughter right on the dot for her appointment time and she went straight to prepping. Not only is Aminata sweet, respectful, gentle, professional, and quite fast I might add, but she makes you feel right at home as well. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist! When it came to picking out the colour for the braiding hair, I actually always go with either a #1B or #2 for my daughter, but as the professional Aminata is, she chose a #4 instead, which turned out to be a perfect match. I had no idea! It didn't stop there though. She not only asked for my opinion; she also made sure my daughter was comfortable with the choice as well. I've never seen a stylist ask an 11 year old for a second opinion. Aminata made my daughter feel significant and gave her confidence since she was the one sitting in Aminata's chair. That's EXTREMELY important to me, because my husband and I are raising our kids to know that they matter and they have a voice. We teach our children to speak up and she gave that opportunity to my daughter without me even saying one word about it. Although she's closed today (which made me remember to write a review in the first place), I plan to call tomorrow to book another appointment for my other daughter. I really hope she does locks because my husband wants to start going to her along with my son after hearing about my daughter's experience. This has nothing to do with her as a professional, but I have to speak about her character. We had a long conversation about countless topics. Within those conversations, I've concluded that Aminata has a heart of gold! She's sweet, understanding, patient, aspiring and inspiring, and has the best intentions for our children and humanity as a whole. She spoke with a passion you can't fake. Inaccurate address on Yelp, google, Apple Maps - everywhere. She's the only stylist with 4 other clients when I did my consultation. She told me to txt her when I would like to come in and I did. I came in on a Wednesday and schedule my hair appointment for Saturday but I didn't hear anything back until the night b4 at 11:30...at that point I had already found and scheduled a different salon. I just think it's very unprofessional to communicate with someone the night b4 so late and think your going to do that person's hair. read more

I went to the studio for a full sew in. She was 30 minutes late and I was the scheduled first customer. While she did a good wash and condition, her weave was subpar. I have worn weaves many times and this one was the worst weave I have ever had. The front looked ridiculous with lace showing and a part that was off. I would not recommend her for this type of service. When I asked her to fix it, she did not seem to understand what was wrong with it. Her prices were way too high for this quality of work. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. I was booked for a 9am braiding appointment for my daughter, and she did not get in the chair until 12:20. The stylist blamed it on her 8am running over... THREE HOURS?! No call, no courtesy text or nothing mentioned about this appointment running over. I wanted to like this salon because there are so many positive reviews. The owner seemed sweet but there are. few big red flags. My hair does look good. I've been getting my hair done my entire life and have gone to many different stylists. This was the first stylist who burned my scalp with EVERY stroke of the flat iron. It got to the point that I asked her to please leave my edges alone because she was burning the hell out of me. She knew this was hurting me as she apologized everytime I jumped...yet she never changed what she was doing. It also took her several passes to straighten my hair to her liking. I counted 8 passes over one patch of my head. Then at the end she went over it again to style it. I am natural but even the Dominican salon does not use that much heat. Today my hair smells heavily of burnt hair. I am going to be livid if my hair is heat damaged. she had her kids in the shop and stopped often to direct them to do things or correct them. They were mostly behaved but I did not appreciate her stopping my service to direct her kids. I pay for a relaxing experience. When I called to make the appointment I was told it would be around 50-60 dollars. I paid 100 for some reason. I get times are hard but I specifically picked this salon due to price and reviews. read more

On Monday June 12th I was in need of a hair stylist. I needed to get my weave washed and styled. My hair dresser wasn't available and the other salon I called didn't do walk in's. I found Ami on yelp, called her and explained to her what I needed done. She said that I could come in at 1:30. When I arrived, she had 2 people ahead of me but made me feel ok with waiting for her. 1. She had Great customer service skills! She apologized for having me waiting, thanked me for being patient, thanked me for coming in and promised that she would get to me as soon as she was done. 2. She was extremely personable and shared her availability. She informed me that I could go on style Seat to set up appointments, etc... 3. She was humble and wasn't full of herself! She shared what styles she was good at it and informed me of what styles she can do on me. 4. I got a chance to sing along to some Gospel music! Nice worship time lol. Overall great experience! So... I recently visited divine trinity hair studio. I called and they were able to take me as a walk in which I was very very happy about but I must say I was told to come at 10:30 waited 2 hours just to get my hair washed... I understand that their were people ahead of me but I would've just came another day instead of waiting that long. Ami was excellent her customer service was amazing !!!!! Definitely made sure I was comfortable now the other stylist was just as nice !! Im not sure the other stylist name but she was the one that cut my hair not ami just to make that very clear ... and I'm not knocking her whatsoever just saying my experience!!!!I came in from a wash blow dry and trim... my hair was all the same length I did have some breakage but the way she cut my hair is really just horrible. I understand wanting to make sure it's all healthy but I would've preferred her to take only some off ,, one side looks like I have a bob in the front the other side is much longer I don't really want to have to give a hair stylist direction on how to cut my hair... like she should've just cut some off because If I was to get a silk press it would've looked a hot ass mess... like I was completely disappointed and asked her about it like why do I need to ask u why one side is much shorter than the other ! way shorter . Like I said I definitely understand the breakage but we could've just took some off instead of it being completely lopsided I now have to get braids for a while until the other side grows back to a good length to wear my hair down... now ami is great and customer service is to die for but I just got a bad cut but I wouldn't completely right them off all together !! that just wasnt the best trim ... I didn't walk out happy at all. Please tell your clients what your doing before anything because anyone would've been annoyed and she didn't even explain why it looked that way until I asked like ughhh !!! I'm still a fan of relaxers, despite the shift towards natural hair. It's very hard to find a someone to give me a quality relaxer--with the knowledge of how to do so in a way that doesn't damage your hair. Luckily I found Aminata and she did a wonderful job!!! I got both a relaxer and deep conditioning treatment (per her suggestion.) She even gave me my very first blowout! Ami is nice and personable, but was not completely forthcoming with me about the prices. I was told that it would be around $250 for goddess locs, but it turns out $250 was the STARTING price and the hair ended up costing me $300. Not only that, I told her and her assistant to make sure that they weren't tight, but I've had them for 2 days now and am still in pain, with red bumps and redness starting to appear in various areas of my scalp. When I asked her to redo some of the locs that were just too tight, she told me I would have to PAY EXTRA for the hair, in order to fix her blunder, on top of the $300 I had already spent. I feel like I've been cheated and scammed and am on the verge of tears. I wanted locs for prom but I used poor judgement in picking this studio. I have had cornrows, senegalese twists, and box braids all my life and I've never been in as much pain or had them as tight as these are. Yes, I am tender headed, but when she blamed my sensitive scalp for the discomfort I was in that marked the moment I decided I would never take my business to her again and regret wasting my money here. She doesn't know what she's talking about, and it's women like this that are the reason traction alopecia is so rampant in black communities. I got them done less than two days ago and I've already decided I'm taking them out tonight, as no amount of money, no matter how large is worth losing my edges and having bald spots. read more
