I had bounced around after the pandemic with one who was great at cutting my hair. Another who was better at coloring and highlighting my hair. And a third place where I got facials, brows etc because the previous 2 salons didn't offer these services. I've had 3 cuts and colors at Christie's and I look good. Leah who is the one I go to for brows, lashes, facials,etc is really good and she knows just what I like. Sorry but I have forgotten his name but the man who does massages there is fabulous. I have been searching for a new stylist since I moved to Maryland from Los Angeles. My hair is naturally a level 2, but I have a platinum balayage so it is so hard to find someone who I can trust with my hair. After almost a year of searching I FOUND MY PERFECT STYLIST! Rick was amazing. He did a perfect balayage touch up, color correction, cut, and style on my hair. The salon is super cute. From the outside it looks like a little house. There is ample parking in the front and back of the salon. The decor is upscale but very welcoming. I was offered a beverage, the bathroom was clean and stocked with high end products. It was a nice day and they had the windows open allowing a wonderful breeze to blow through. I will definitely be coming back. I already made an appointment for a couple months out. I have been going to Christie's Hair Salon in Glen Burnie for several years for color touch up and extension maintenance by Heather. I have always been very happy with my services and their staff. Yesterday at 9am I went in to have my brown hair colored blonde. Allie gave me a very thorough consultation. She was very concerned about possible damage. We agreed on how to go about it. She put a cape on me and sat me in the chair. She foiled my whole head. Heather arrived at 10am. She advised Allie with the process. It took 4 hours. I was very happy with the results and made my next appointment for highlights and extension application. I got home and my husband told me the back of my shirt was bleached. Indeed it was. All the way down to my waist. I returned to the salon and spoke to Christie, the owner. She blamed me for the damage. But she offered to pay for my shirt. I insisted that it wasn't necessary. I just wanted Allie to make sure she protects her clients properly so this won't happen again. I thought it went well and was looking forward to Heather finishing my hair later. Christie called me the next day and said Heather and Allie do not want to do my hair anymore and I am no longer welcome in the salon. And her final words to me before she hung up on me were, "We have camera's all around the building outside. Just saying." What the heck does that mean?!?!! I went in to get a whole new color and was feeling very nervous. I went from blond to purple. It was my first visit and my appointment was with Allie. As an african american with a lot of hard to color gray hair, it was a tedious process. I felt the need to do this review because Allie did a phenomenal job. I have gotten numerous compliments on my hair and it has only been 4 days. I was also worried because the only other experience I had with a non-african american was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. When I left, I was still quite unsure as purple was certainly out of the box for me as a 50 year old woman. I am in love with my color as well as my cut. Do not go here if you'd like terrible interactions with the reception staff, have your appointment be confirmed incorrectly OR call to confirm your appointment yourself. First let me say, Sammy my stylist is amazing and I'll truly miss visiting her and the owner Christie is pleasant, professional and welcoming. BUT, don't let that fool you! I've been going here for months, driving way out of my way because I'm loyal and found a great stylist but my interactions with Madison the receptionist has caused this salon to lose a valuable client, who refers and tips well. This young lady is unprofessional and rude on the telephone will not greet you when you arrive and does the bare minimum of her job. Every interaction I've had with this young lady has been horrible. I was on my way to my appointment today when I get a call asking if I was "ok" because I was late. I had to interject because for the second consecutive time I've had to call and confirm my own appointment. No text message or call was ever placed or receive by Christie's Salon. Well, needless to say another epic fail by Madison because she quoted me the wrong time. Another tick against her and the straw that broke the camels back. I will NOT be returning and I'll be telling each person I've referred my interactions and outcome. I go to the salon every 4 weeks to get my hair done. 1) I wear a shorter style that needs to be trimmed and shaped regularly and 2) I've had gray hair (gasp!) growing since my early 20's. When we first moved to this area, my amazing husband looked up salons and said I should try Christie's. Here I am 3 years later and still religiously go there. Of course Christie and her staff do an AH-MAZING job with my hair, but it's more than that. She has created an experience where daughter, Madelyn, also feels so welcome and loves to get her hair trimmed or a pedicure (she's 7!) . You know everyone when you go in, you are comfortable and can chat, drink a glass of wine if you wish (or soda, water etc) and relax. People spend literally hundreds of dollars for big name salons to get shuffled in and out with a decent hair cut or color job and not much more (this is my experience at least). I look forward to my once a month time with these ladies.....It's a community. They care about you and become your friends. Thanks Christie (and company) for being awesome!... and I ALWAYS leave with a beautiful color and cut or nail lthat makes me feel good! Unprofessional staff. They're obnoxiously loud. The salon is super small and very cramped. Parking is horrid and also small as they share a tiny house with another salon. I had to park in a neighborhood away from the salon to avoid towing. I had an appointment but ended up having to wait in their small waiting area that has a sofa. It is really uncomfortable as far as space. If you are claustrophobic - AVOID. The prices are high. The Japanese magic perm starts at around $300 when a different salon I went to starts at $125. The staff seemed unprofessional, loud, and inappropriate. I'm not religious but I overheard them talking about religion and atheism. I could care less what you believe but lets focus on hair, nails, and make up. I just found the staff to be annoying and unfriendly. UNPROFESSIONAL! Oh and a customer brought in her child. Most salons have a policy (or should I say better salons- real salons!) that children are not allowed. This place is a small mess! read more

I went to Christie's not knowing anything about her salon. I trusted what she suggested to do to my struggling thinning hair. It was a tad pricey but when I saw the finished results it was beyond worth it. I feel pretty for the first time in years. Christie squeezed me in on a traveling day and still took her time with me. While therex her nail tech let me know why my nails were thinning and let me know exactly what was needed to fix it. I made an appointment to see her too. For the salon being in Glen Burnie, a town I hate, it's is very beautiful and peaceful inside. And obviously up to the times and fashion forward. I already have my next hair appointment scheduled. This review is for lash extensions and the customer service. I have not received any other services from this salon. The customer service is A+. It's easy to make an appointment and the the ladies that work there are very personable and nice including the owner Christie. The salon is clean including the bathrooms. I have been getting my lash extensions done by Cass for over a month now. She is amazing. When I initially booked with her I asked several questions because I never had extensions done and she answered every question to my satisfsction. When I get my lashes done I nap some that is how relaxing the service is. Cass is very detailed and she takes her time. I never feel like she is rushing. I love having extensions. Since getting extensions I rarely wear a full face of makeup, which means sleeping in and looking glamorous even when I'm kick boxing. read more

SHE CHOPPED UP MY HAIR.. BURNT MY HAIR... TRIED TO STEAL MY PHONE!!! I just moved to the area and was looking for a stylist to cut my hair. Since I was not familiar with any hair salons in the area I went to Groupon to find one. I explained to the stylist that I was nervous and informed her exactly what I wanted (a simple trim). I asked to make sure that my layers are well blended and she tried to comfort me saying she would make it look good and that I would be happy. I then relaxed and allowed her to do her thing. When she was finished I was so upset when I saw my bangs! I wish I could have taken a picture. They were cut straight across and not blended to my face, just cut straight across in the middle of my face??? I then told her she needs to fix them, she cut more and more and still no luck, she tried to curl them to hide them and BURNT my hair.. LITERALLY! The owner had to come over and fix them. Christie fixed them to blend, but they are still different lengths and my hair in general is very choppy! I have hair that goes to my mid back and it just does not look flattering. I was not happy and she could tell. I decided to just breathe and let it be a lesson to not ever go back, until I went to leave and could not find my phone! I placed my phone on the stylist table when she went to wash my hair and when I came back I noticed an apron was over it and did not think anything of it. When I got up to pay I removed the apron that was on top of my phone myself and there was NO Phone there. I told her I placed it right there and could not find it, she told me to make sure I had everything and to not leave anything. I checked my purse thinking maybe I was forgetful... NO phone. I informed her AGAIN and she said that was strange. She then said wait what color was your phone? I said its a white iphone 5 in a blue case and she walked to a completely different side of the store and opened a drawer and took my phone out of the drawer... is this your phone?? SERIOUSLY? tried to steal my phone? She said " I thought it was the owners phone" who was sitting one table down from us. She did not bother asking if it were mine before taking it. I did not know what to say, I just paid her and left. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THIS PLACE! Christie the owner was nice and attempted to fix my hair, but stylist I had needs to be let go. Rundown: Scheduling: Easy breezy. Called and made a Saturday appt the Wednesday before. Ambiance: Meh. It's the basement of a house turned into a salon. Cramped, a little disorganized, and outdated...plus seeing the door open to the water heater and HVAC closet was just....offputting. Stylist: Heather was very friendly and down to earth. She listened to what I wanted, and gave it to me exactly that way. I wanted to be blonder, but not too blonde. Done. I wanted side part bangs that could flip to either side (they have a mind of their own, I tell ya). Done. Appointment/Experience: This is where they lost some star power. I was double-booked. You should never double book, especially a hair color appointment. Getting up to sit next to the other girl getting a million+ colors put in, as my color/foils sat....just didn't make me feel special at all. I suppose to get that special feeling, I need to pay crazy money. Wasn't offered anything to read, either. My fave part of any hair appointment, the shampoo with a little scalp massage, was crap. The receptionist tco me, and it was wham, bam, thank ya ma'am rushed. The bowl is right near the front door too...so you get a lovely arctic blast as each client walks in. My stylist's little boy was dropped off by the dad, after my shampoo. So as she was holding my wet hair up to cut it, the little dude would come over to ask her a question, and she'd let my hair go...then start all over. He was a very cute kid, but I don't go to salons to hang with the kiddos. Having my appointment repeatedly interrupted, when I'd already been double booked, was just a huge turn off. Not sure I'll be back. It's very affordable and I was happy with the results. However, I think I've been spoiled by other salons. we found this company on groupon. i made an appointment for 6 pm on 12/2/13. i told Tina that we had a holiday party coming up in four days and that i needed some layers for my hair. i had just dyed my hair (and told her this on the phone when i made the appointment) and she made a back-handed comment about the smell of my hair. salon hair colour does not smell any better, and if she was trying to up sell a $70 colour, she did a TERRIBLE job. she then insulted my bangs, which i cut myself. basically she was passive-aggressively lecturing me about my lack of professional hair care. she did, however, do a good job of layering the length and thinning my bangs. because of the groupon deal, my significant other wanted his hair trimmed as well. he is military and showed tina a picture of specifically what he wanted done to his hair. she assured us that she had her license for barber as well (which judging by the picture i posted, was a bold-faced lie in an attempt to make money) and could do exactly what he wanted. he also told her to not take any off the top. she completely ignored everything he showed and said and did an ATROCIOUS job on his hair, knowing that we have a holiday party to attend this weekend. she took hair off the top and butchered his hair. it was far too high on his head, it was ragged and uneven and just absolutely terrible. so much so, that he was forced to spend more money to go to his regular barber who was disgusted by the haircut. he even said to my significant other, "who the hell cut your hair ?" it was absolutely embarrassing. i dont care if a groupon is posted for a free haircut from Christie and co., we will NOT be back. the one star is partially because she actually did what i wanted, and because i cannot give 0 stars. i did forget to mention that while Tina made some pretty mean remarks, the other lady that was working the night of 12/2/13 complimented my hair several times, whether she did it because she genuinely believed it or because she was trying to preserve my feelings from Tina, i completely appreciated it. while I'm sure this company is nice, Tina was just pure awful. read more

Kristin took such great care of me! She took her time and was very professional. It's always scary going into a new place, but I seriously couldn't be happier. Where to begin...A little history. I've been a client of their's for YEARS. I started with a great stylist who ended up leaving the salon because she couldn't take the explicit language they used and their unprofessionalism. I kept her as my stylist because she was so fantastic; So for the next couple years, I went to her house every few months for services. She eventually stopped and that brought me back to Christie's about 2 years ago. I never felt comfortable being there because it's seemed like they were a big click, but... Mirela was such a great stylist, so I decided to suck it up and come back each time. Fast forward to December 2018. They were having a special on some products being 50% off. Long story short, they sold me a bottle of Paul Mitchell shampoo that was old as dirt. It wasn't even mixed in the bottle. I decided to contact Paul Mitchell directly through their website and provide the batch number to find out when it was bottled. In less than 24 hours, they got back to me, telling me the shampoo was 8 years old and has and shelf life of 5 years, soooo. Christie's sold me shampoo that was 3 years past the expiration date. Well, things happen and I'm a reasonable person, but... the level of unapologetic rudeness was off the charts when I came back to return it. The woman, Heather, acted like I was more of a nuisance than anything. Instead of taking ANY RESPONSIBILITY for it, she just pointed the finger at their Paul Mitchell sales rep. She took no accountability for the mess up; she didn't care that they sent me home with an expired product, or that I had to take an extra 30 minute trip to return it, or that she should actually be apologetic towards me as a client instead of treating me like I was just an annoyance. What did I get from them after all of this? An exchange for another shampoo. Yup. An exchange and a sigh. And not one, "I'm sorry." Not an ounce of empathy. Guess what I got from Paul Mitchell? Two free 33.8 bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Free. No questions asked. Oh! And Paul Mitchell apologized. The next time I came in, Mirela was really smug with me and actually blamed me for buying the expired shampoo. She said, "Well you bought a shampoo for curly hair and you have straight hair, so lesson learned, right?" I've never bit my tongue so hard. (The curly shampoo was the only one left on sale, so that why I bought it.) Then when I was paying, she got mad at me because she couldn't find a gift certificate saved under my account. Not my fault; they wouldn't give me a physical gift cert when I bought it. They just assured me it would be under my account in their system... Not my problem but she acted like I WAS the problem. Still, I gave her over at 20% tip as I always do. This brings me to today. I wanted to go back one more time to get a major style change (since I've been seeing Mirela for years and she knows my hair), and guess what? She FIRED me. Yes. I'm serious. I got FIRED. I had to cancel my last 2 appts but did so following their cancellation policy. I followed the rules for their cancellation policy and Mirela told them not to book me anymore because of it. I've never been treated so poorly by any business as I have with this one. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. You'll see what I'm talking about if you go there. You'll see the entire atmosphere is like a high school click. Oh... and whomever from the salon responds to this, don't try to pull the, "We don't have your name in our system," garbage because I've been in it for at least 6 years. (Yea. I've seen your responses to all the poor Google reviews.) I was a loyal client up until you all treated me like garbage for something that was your fault. Heather needs a major attitude adjustment if she's supposed to be fixing problems with your clients that your salon caused. You having her as a manager is laughable.
