A must-see for hat aficionados…read more Stopped by the north-east corner of Georgetown's downtown squad and visited Nathaniel's Custom Hats to see what it's about - and it's quite an establishment. The hats you see in the store start at around $500 and are all custom made. It's owned and run by Native American Master Hatter Nate Funmaker. He's been named "Best Living Hat Maker" by True West Magazine. Nate's hats are constructed on vintage equipment, including a 100-year old hat 'measurer' that you sit on your head to get exact measurements for the hat maker. His work reminds me of the hat my mother left me - it was custom made for her 60 years ago and still looks new. Most of the hats are Western style, with Stetsons and others predominating. First visit: dealt with new mgr that took over the store following impropriety problems. Second visit: another new manager saying that prior manager was fired for same. Third visit- ANOTHER new mgr, previous manager fired for same and accused of taking product orders-ours included! We have dealt with numerous people at managers level at LIDS corporate office trying to get a refund and find out what has happened to our proprietary artwork files and company hats. NOT ONE of the 5 people we have dealt with at LIDS has even followed up with us or tried to make this right. Huge waste of time and money and real concerns about our company product showing up who knows where. This company has real problems and is clearly not able to fix them.

So my last review was for my first and original order from Lids/Hat World at Lakeline. There were…read moretwo new employees who took over the store to "fix it" from other employees. We will just call them employee #1 and employee #2 J. Originally Employee #1 and Employee #2 were amazing and my first group order was done very well and I was happy. I made a second order (early July '15) with some adjustments (puffy vs. flat embroidery) within days of picking up my first order. This again was a group/bulk order and I was pleased with my original service and with placing this new order (except the price went way up for reasons unknown). BTW I had to "set up" an account in the store-gave all of my info, our business, etc- both times as they seemed to have lost my first account. The process took about 4-6 weeks for my second order mostly due to me having to have my logo readjusted for thread count "puffy/3D". When I dropped of the last file with the 3D logo I was told that by Employee #2 he would call me -probably in a week- to let me know all of these hats had been embroidered. I was working/traveling so when I hadn't heard within two weeks I called the store. New Employee #3 answered the phone and said employee #2 was out (for a few days) and no one knew anything about my order. Employee #2 did call me back and explained that employee #1 had quit and my order was missing and there was some "allegedly" this and that about employee # 1 and what had happened with my already purchased, ordered, and my company logo hats were gone. I was also told there was video tape of how/why my hats were gone and asked if I would even cooperate in prosecution and cooperate with the store in them going after the so called "alleged thief". Also, I was told that I was over charged by employee #1 and that the Regional manager would call me and credit my card as well as make a new order of all the hats (total 14). He even photographed my receipt to help in the process. Since we were starting all over I added a minor change to my logo....which took approx 2 weeks. During which time I had been in touch via text with employee #2. When this minor change was digitized I texted employee #2 and received no answer. I called the store and ANTOHER NEW employee said Employee #1 and Employee #2 were gone and they have no history of any of my orders. Darn good thing that I am persistent and I keep all my receipts. I called the corporate office today and spent hours on the phone with them going over all of this and according to them the local store did an in house order instead of one they could see which means more calls/digging. Also, apparently who I was told by Employee #2 that was a regional manager who was going to help me out with the over charge, explain how they were chasing down the "alleged thief", etc, does not exist-nor does this title in their company. So I am giving them a week to resolve at the corporate level and give me my money back...so I can start over with a new vendor as at this point I don't want them to have access to my logo/file or do my hats. A long Rant...but I feel better and now you know that this is NOT the STORE to trust your company logo/information with or spend money with!

First, let me say Cavender's is a huge, cavernous building with a plethora of items for men and women ranging from western clothing to boots and jewelry. I walked up and down the isles looking for that ideal western top. I saw sweatshirts, coats, vests, and jackets with fringe but no fringe shirts. I felt like a cowgirl with a gun and holster on my hip. I saw my first salesperson and I said, "Howdy partner, do you know where I can find me a women's western shirt?" Why not snap into your country sounding voice, when you are in a western store? He said, "No, let me get the woman sales repr." Obviously, my imaginary gun and holster did not evoke fear where I was quickly ushered to a rounder of fringe western tops to choose from. The female sales associate came out to help me, but she said she was not sure if they had fringe western tops and helped me to look around. There were a number of western designers to choose from like Wrangler and Scully. To my surprise, western prices have escalated since I bought my western boots. Unfortunately, I did not score my western satin fringe top but it was entertaining to peruse the store. Some days you get 100% of what you want, somedays 50% and somedays 0%. I was at 50/50, so I cut my losses and headed home. That western top would be great for a western-themed party, or to add to a fashion-forward look. I will continue my search.

I brought it back and asked to exchange the shirt but the store indicated that they couldn't because they didn't recommend removing the label. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I love Austin FC and the hundreds of dollars of merchandise I have bought have generally been high quality but this item was not. Worst of all was the lack of customer service - maybe I am spoiled as any other retailer will exchange goods if they are damaged. Not the end of the world and something that can be stitched up but this experience will make me reluctant to buy merch from the Verde store in the future.
