What can I say? This place is top notch. After suffering from a considerable amount of hair loss due to Hashimotos and great stress, I was fed up. After researching reviews and testimonials of wig salons in my area, I settled on Abba, as it seemed like the most logical choice that would meet my needs. I drove from San Antonio to Austin to meet with Sal. I expressed to her my concerns and she quickly brought back some toppers for me to try. We tried on a couple and then finally decided on a length. Then we went through and picked a color. I needed a base color so that my hairdresser was able to dye it back at my regular salon. I waited a week and drove back to see and get fitted for my topper. We tried it on and I wanted to cry. I spend so much time trying to cover my thinning hair with headbands, bobby pins and Such, that I couldn't believe how easy this was. Waaaaay too easy. I knew immediately my new topper and I were going to have a wonderful relationship. Sal cut my hair and steamed it out, and showed me how to care for it. She made herself available for any questions should my hairdresser have in regards to coloring it. The entire shop was wonderful, these women really really rock. Please go here if you are looking for hair. I would like to add, it's been 3 weeks since I have gotten my topper. You guys! I will wear this piece even after all my hair grows in. I wore it for 2 days before i finally had to tell my group of girlfriends I was wearing a topper. They couldn't believe it. I wore it around my mom for a week before I finally had to tell her. I took the wife here because she wanted to look at their selection of wigs. It's definitely best to call ahead for an appointment, not just show up unannounced. There's a sign right on Kramer Road for the business, but it looks a lot like a residential home with a gate guard. There were four doors to choose from as none of them had any signage. This is definitely an upscale wig store and you can pay hundreds even thousands of dollars for the wigs here. You will be seated in a private room that is very well lit with a big mirror in front of you so that you can see clearly as to what you are trying on. BEWARE: The place with try and scam you. I went in this shop twice. The first time it was just as a walk-in, and I tried a couple of wigs on and was quoted a couple of prices, but I knew I had some insurance coverage so I decided I reach out to my insurance for the process. They contacted this place as it was "in network", and I told be my insurance that since I'd met my deductible they should be able to file the claim with my insurance and I wouldn't need to pay anything out-of-pocket. So I set up an appointment, and when I showed up I told the lady about my insurance. She said she did not want to file with insurance because in the past she has not been paid out and that I would need to front the cost and file with my insurance on my own. Then I tried on the exact same two wigs I had the previous time and asked for the price. She quoted me almost $1000 more than she had the last time. This lady is taking advantage of sick cancer patients and probably trying to commit insurance fraud (I wouldn't doubt that's the reason insurance companies are not reimbursing her in full). Needless to say I did not give Abba Wigs my business on principle. Just because I'm sick, does give you right to take advantage of me. Edit: for the record, my insurance contacted this store on my behalf prior to me consulting. They said you confirmed they were in network with my insurance. The accusation that I called you names and made threats to you is a complete lie. I was as respectful as could be given the situation. My two experiences, years apart, have been amazing. Both times, with different persons, but each immediately selected the perfect hairpiece from their inventory after just our initial meeting/greeting, like 5 minutes...love it! This most recent visit, December, was with the owner who was also very considerate with regard to our appointment time (approximately 1 hour) and skillful in personalizing (adhering clips & cutting) my new hair piece. I had tried a different wig salon/business in the years between my visits and although there were differences in setting/locations, comparing the service and attention I received moves me to give Abba Wigs the best possible recommendation. This place was a God send! I have hair loss from skin cancer on the top of my head. Tired to order some toppers online and they all looked cheap or the color was hard to match from the pictures. I had a terrific visit here and wish I had visited this place sooner. Placing an appointment over the phone was easy and the location is very lovely. The interior has the cozy feel and warmth of a home using gentle lighting which produce a calming effect. The staff was really welcoming and working with Bonnie was great. I always experience mild anxiety whenever I come to wig shops having a mixed batch of experiences in the past, but Bonnie instantly warmed the room with a positive sense of humor. She gave me a tour and showed me a room upstairs where an esthetician is going to be providing services soon. You get your own private room for consultations and hair styling which was super. Bonnie was able to revitalize a piece previously purchased at another store and trimmed my hair too. So upset over the handling of my appointment scheduling. I called on Tuesday to make an appointment for Saturday. I made it very clear that I wanted my topper cut. They said I needed a consultation first, which I said was fine but that is want to make sure they could actually cut it too assuming the consultation went ok. She scheduled me for Saturday at 4pm. Saturday at noon. I get a call from the stylist saying she doesn't have enough time to do my topper because they close at 5. From the way this conversation is going, you would think I was the one who deliberately made an appointment without enough time. She tries to reschedule me but can't accommodate my standard work schedule or the fact that I'm going out of town on Tuesday. Now I have to beg another salon to see me Monday after work which thankfully they have been able to, probably out of the fact that they recognize they are essentially gaining a new customer. Could I not have been informed of this scheduling error PRIOR to the day of? Were those 20 extra minutes after 5pm that just couldn't be accommodated worth this experience? I have alopecia and it has gotten worse. I researched every possible solution. I even went to Bosley. So I made an appointment with Bonnie. She's amazing! She listened to all my hair needs. I tried different colors, lengths, and types. I tried 300-500 dollar toppers and they were beautiful. I chose a blonde human hair wig and I'll go back for a topper for the grocery store run. I think some insurance plans (tricare maybe) cover the cost if you have a medical condition. My insurance has a high deductible though. They let me take my time to decide, no pressure. Bonnie showed me how to wear, store and maintain my prosthetic. Best part is that my son didn't believe it was a wig. My in-laws thought it was a bold highlights hairstyle! My wig passed the Hispanic relatives test. I've worn it 8 days in a row and it still looks fresh. I definitely recommend Abba. read more

Brenda, Sal, and Bonnie are warm, welcoming, very professional talented in their areas of expertise! I ended up being here an hour and a half and received exquisite attention and left with stunning hair prosthesis (wig). As part of the purchase price I was carefully evaluated, provided multiple selections, then upon selection, hair was styled magnificently to my face. This was a remarkable memorably experience! Sal listened carefully to my hopes and expectations, provided multiple choices, and along with my husband who was present, ultimately supported and guided me to the perfect for me selection. Sal then styled my hair perfectly for me! She showed me over and over how to put on and position hair and also provided many wonderful tips and techniques. It was a fun rewarding experience! It is obvious to me that most, if not all, of these reviews are written by friends of the owner (if not the owner herself). I was charged $1299 for half of a wig, i.e. the wig does not cover my whole head. I came thinking that I had a bald spot on the back of my head. (After going to two different doctors, I was told that I have two cowlicks on the back of my head. One goes one way and the other goes in the opposite direction. I wish I had consulted a doctor before going to this place!) When the owner looked at my hair she acknowledged that I had a bald spot. I got a hairpiece that covered just the back of my head. My "special price" was $1,299. I took it home and could not fit the piece to the back of my head as it was too small. I even went back to the place to have her style my hair again so that it would look right for my special event. Long story short, I have been unable to wear it since then because it does not fit my head. Of course, they do not give refunds or give provide you with any alternative. SAVE YOUR MONEY! I can't say enough the ladies and ABBA wigs. They are absolutely amazing and understanding. I recently went through a divorce and lost a significant amount of hair and was desperate and depressed. I researched wig shops and found ABBA wigs. I didnt have an appointment made but need to do something. When I got there They could tell how down I was and took me in. They made me feel so welcome. Bonnie Friedman at Abba Wigs is so fantastic! I am going through chemo and needed a wig. Bonnie helped me negotiate with my insurance company to get them to pay for the wig. During the wig selection process, she made me and my friends laugh the whole time! She let me try on some silly wigs with long blonde curls and took loads of funny photos of us all. Then she helped me pick out a beautiful and affordable wig. After chemo started, I went back to get my head shaved and pick up the wig. Yelp won't seem to let my give Sal/Abba a NO star review? Sal is dishonest and disrespectful. I went to Abba, along with my mom and sister, a couple of days after my hair fell out due to chemo. I was very distraught and vulnerable. Sal represented herself as a alopecia survivor and seemed to be very empathetic. I had absolutely zero knowledge of wig construction, fitting, quality, pricing or types of hair. I was looking for something that looked like the hair I had just lost. I showed Sal a recent picture. She promptly brought out a real hair wig that she stated had been made for a client who did not purchase it. She curled it and made it look a lot like my lost hair. She then plopped it on my head and said that it fit perfectly. I was so happy to look like pre-chemo me, I agreed to pay the $1,600 price. Keep in mind that I have not been able to work full time, I have high medical bills and I'm supporting a family of four. My husband is a disabled veteran. I wore the wig for a few hours that afternoon. It was very uncomfortable. I thought I just needed to get used to it? The next day (Saturday) I had an out of town ranch showing (I'm a real estate broker). After having the wig on for another couple of hours I realized I was not uncomfortable, I was really in pain! One of my coworkers gave me his hat so that I could take off the wig. I did not want him to see me hairless but could not stand the pain. Turns out that the side burn tabs on the wig (stiff triangular tabs) came down right on top of my ears, rather than in front of them where they belong. In fact, this expensive wig did not fit me at all! After my showing, I promptly tried to call Abba wigs. They did not answer even though I called during their advertised hours. Monday morning I tried calling Abba several times. They did not answer. My mom and I drove to Abba. The blinds were drawn and they would not answer the main door, during advertised hours. I tried all of the many doors to the place and found one unlocked. I found Sal's daughter inside. She was surprised that she had to talk to me. I told her how the wig was hurting me and did not fit me. She said that the wig was not returnable. This was the first I had heard of the policy as Sal had not disclosed it. Sal had me sign the credit card slip and slid the no return policy into the bag without mentioning it to me, my mom and sister. I told her daughter that I did not want the wig and was leaving it. I wanted something in writing stating that I had left it. She gave me a repair/clean slip. I was not interested in paying to have the new wig repaired or doing business with Sal. I disputed the wig charge with my credit card company. Sal protested my dispute and represented that I returned the wig in a state of filth and stink and that she had disclosed her no return policy. I am very sad that someone would take advantage of people in the most difficult and scary time of their life. I am offended that Sal represented that I have personal hygiene issues. Of course this is the opposite of reality. Sal is listed with Mastercard as a professional medical prosthetic fitter. This could not be further from the truth. I have since found a couple synthetic wigs that work well for me. I have shopped at several other wig stores in Austin. Serenity Wigs refused to sell me a wig that I liked because they said it did not fit me properly. I appreciate that. Pat Painter's Wigs replaced a wig that got frizzy. I didn't ask for a replacement only how to work with the wig. Franchesca at Pat Painter's wanted me to be happy and thought there was an issue with the wig. Franchesca is honest, empathetic and professional. If you are going through chemo, please do some research and buy from someone you can trust. I will be giving the wig good credit since it is beautiful and people don't realize it is a wig however, the owner has something left to be desired. Bonnie was helpful that it saved the day. The first time I went in the owner did not bother to help me what so ever and I left after looking at some wigs. Went to many other places but could not find one as good so went back another day. Again, Bonnie went out of her way. The price was quoted to me at $525.00 then I went to check out and that is what I was charged. They came after me when I was in the car and said they had undercharged me $100.00. Talked the owner and she said she was just estimating the cost (really) and said if I didn't want it that was fine but I owed her another $100.00 and that was it. I bought a wig there a discontinued Revlon Gwen and was charged $760. for it. I later saw that the wig online sold for $ 487, originally. Do your wig homework first to make sure the wig is really worth it-since washing it per their instructions the cap and hair length shrunk and it has shed a great deal. I did not have insurance and paid cash. I would not buy Revlon brand again. read more

I went to the shop as part of a wish with Make A Wish of Central Texas. My wish kid was starting school soon and wanted a wig that looked as close to her real hair as possible for the new school year. Not only did this shop make her a one of a kind custom wig from photos of her hair before the chemo but also donated the wig to her free of charge. Seeing my wish kid's face light up as she saw the wig was priceless. All the girls in the salon were warm and welcoming. They made us all feel at home and helped with care and styling tips. This shop is amazing. There are plenty of wigs to choose from and the atmosphere is high scale. You do not feel initmidated while there and the owner is truly the sweetest person ever.
