Food is good. Most of the staff is great. What i have a problem with is now if there are 4 people at the table, you are automatically charged an 18% tip. This is not right, as most of the time your forgotten because the waitress knows she gets a good tip regardless. Not right. And because they don't tell you about it and it's not very noticeable on the check, guess what, your double tipping. Won't be going back due to the forced tipping and lack of service from it. read more

We went to Dixie after seeing that another nearby diner wasn't opened yet and needed an emergency place for brunch. I am from out of towm and not used to the area. Dixie has a DINGY, run-down exterior but a clean interior. The food is like the food you'll get at any Waffle House or Denny's, but the prices here are amazing. AMAZING! I had an ice tea, no sweetener, with an egg white Corned Beef and Swiss omelette with hash browns and cinnamon toast. So much food for only $10! Yummy food and I ate everything. I can't say enough great things about the waitstaff. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive even though you just knew she was likely incredibly busy. Dixie is a nice hidden gem! read more

Went through drive-thru last night and ordered a club sandwich (no tomato) with coleslaw and a patty melt with fries. The club sandwich was okay, the coleslaw and fries were excellent. The patty melt left a lot of be desired. The bread was not toasted at all, causing the bread to be extra soggy - not a good taste. The meat did not look appetizing either. I have enjoyed several good items from Dixie Diner, unfortunately the patty melt was not one of them. read more

In the past the food was good but today it was terrible. The broasted chicken fingers were clearly frozen chicken fingers- cheap Tyson like crap. The loose meat hamburger was so spicy. The waitress with the odd large eyelashes was really rude. read more

This is my family and I's favorite restaurant ever. We eat here multiple times a week. It really can't be beat. I kinda hope it stays a hidden gem so it doesn't get too busy lol! I decided to give Dixie Diner a try when the first place I tried to go to was closed for remodeling. I didn't feel like eating in, so I got a carryout. I was debating between just the 4 piece broasted chicken or the dinner. The server told me they were having a special on a 4 piece white meat dinner that came with 2 breasts & 2 wings, so I ordered that, and I chose the salad and baked potato. The salad was of decent size, but rather ordinary -- head lettuce, a grape tomato or 2, a couple slices of cucumber & some onions. The baked potato was fairly large. I'm not sure if it was actually baked or microwaved & then wrapped in foil, but it was fine. The chicken, however, was definitely the star o the show. Two HUGE breasts -- one that had a wing still attached -- and 2 good-sized wings. Even after being in a styrofoam box for about 20 minutes (I still don't understand why restaurants put fried food in styrofoam, as it tends to steam the contents), it was still pretty crispy and hot. It was also nice and juicy, not too greasy and not overly-breaded. I will definitely remember this place the next time I want fried chicken; it's way better than either grocery stores or KFC. And based on others' reviews, I will try them for breakfast as well. read more

Myself and my family have been coming here for probably 20 or so years and I think its nice that they haven't renovated it into some modern gray and white type place. I like the older feel to it because it gives you that atmosphere where you feel like you're at home while at your local family diner. The food is always good, sometimes the hash browns aren't the best but it's okay because overall we really like this place for their breakfasts. My grandma also really liked the fried chicken dinners, not sure if they still have that but I'm pretty sure they do. Anyways, it's one of your local family-type diners with traditional American food. Very good place and the servers are usually very friendly and sweet. read more

We were in the area for an event and stopped in Dixie add afterwards for lunch. The service was very friendly and attentive. There's a lot to choose from on the menu and daily specials. We got a variety of breakfast items and chicken, along with a sandwich. The French toast was amazing, and even the kids portion was generous. They were unfortunately our of the cinnamon roll one. The broasted chicken was on point - crispy skin and extremely juicy on the inside. It's some of the best I've ever had, much better than that one local chain. The sides and soups are also pretty good and a big size. I would definitely stop here again if I was in the area. read more

I'm from out of town--house-sitting for my parents for two weeks. As their bon voyage breakfast, we came to Dixie Diner because they had had "a good experience." We had a great experience! Our server was Leslie, and she had a good sense of humor--and importantly, attentive to my and my parents' respective hydration and caffeination needs. The food was AWESOME. They both got cinnamon bun french toast. Those were a generous size and tasted amazing. I got chocolate chip pancakes, and my mom gave me her extra frosting on the side to put on my pancakes*. My side of ham was unexpectedly delicious too. Two pieces of juicy, thin-sliced ham. If I hadn't filled up on pancakes I would have finished the last couple bites. I'm often hesitant to go out for breakfast, but with my hubby coming down from Canada, I may have to bring him to Dixie. read more

I visited on a Friday around 2:30pm. Absolutely great service with very attentive staff, clean tables, and a low-key unfussy environment. Coffee was a little weak, but not bad. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs with hashbrowns and rye toast. Pluses and minuses - the steak and gravy was pretty good! I'm a little spoiled - having grown up in Florida, I'm -admittedly- quite scrutinous about pepper gravy - so I will say it needed a little more pepper, but that's on the table and easily remedied. Steak was crisp and not soggy. I was very impressed that the chef had the forethought to serve the steak balanced on the steak knife and slightly elevated from the plate. This keeps steam from becoming trapped under the steak and soaking the breading underneath. Hashbrowns, unfortunately, were pretty mushy and mealy. It was 2pm so maybe it was the very last batch from the morning rush - who knows. But I do respect, again, that the chef tried to mitigate this by cooking the gas browns really well and crisping them up as much as possible to offset the other texture. They really know what they're doing. In all, I'll likely come back but I'm still looking for my new favorite diner. read more

My husband and I moved to Waterford almost 3 years ago, and after trying some of the other local diners, the Dixie has become our favorite! The drive thru is so convenient, the portions are big, and the chicken dinners are better than Zehnder's! The staff has always been kind and courteous when I call to order, which I appreciate since I'm HoH. Some of our favorites are the Coney Island, the country fried steak, breaded mushrooms, and biscuits and gravy. They've been a lifesaver these past 5 months especially since I'm pregnant and crave home style food.
