    a half eaten sandwich

I am having a fantastic club sandwich and fries for lunch. This is probably one of the best clubs sandwiches I've had. I know you are thinking how do you mess up a club sandwich? The layering is pretty dang perfect and fresh ingredients. Pickles are outstanding and my fries were crispy and hot. My waitress is a pleasure to have and so attentive. Prices are beyond reasonable. We are repeat customers for sure. My husband loves coming here for breakfast too.

Walking in feels like the universe hit pause somewhere in the best way. Same feel, same energy, same kind of place you can count on without thinking twice. It's like being teleported back to exactly where you're supposed to be. And the food? Exactly what it should be. No pretending to be healthy, no overthinking it. Just straight, unapologetic comfort. I go there for one thing every time: the hot beef sandwich. Massive. Smothered in gravy... and I mean gravy everywhere. The kind where you don't just eat it, you commit to it. Fries? Those are getting dipped in gravy too, no question. It's excessive in the best possible way. The portions are out of control. You're not finishing it. You're not even pretending to. You're leaving with enough leftovers for the next couple of days and you're not mad about it. It's the kind of meal that feels a little sinful, but worth every second. You'll deal with forgiveness later. Hometown, no-frills, real-deal comfort food that hasn't lost its identity over time. And honestly, that's rare.

I even knew what I wanted before I got there, I love, love, LVE the Southern Omelette. My friend chose the Meat Lovers Omelette with the Flint Chili Sauce on the side. Additionally, we both wanted the Mega Cinnamon Roll French Toast. According to the menu, that can be added to any breakfast for $4.99. We're both Senior citizen. We typically eat part of our meals out then, bring the rest home to enjoy the next day. That was our plan for the Mega Cinnamon Roll French Toast. When our server presented the bill, I was taken aback by the total. It was almost $50.00; I just knew it shouldn't have been that much! I brought it to the attention of our server. (I wished I remembered her name; she was a sheer delight). She took the bill and said she would resolve the problem. Shortly thereafter, another young lady (I presume a manage), approached our booth in an huff asking about what we'd ordered. I replied the Mega Cinnamon Roll French Toast as I pointed to it on the menu with the highlighted Add to Any Breakfast for $4.99. We were told that since we were getting the French Toast to go, the $4.99 price was not in play. That didn't make sense to us. We only ate 1/2 our omelettes and we were taking the remainder of that with us. So let me see if I've got this correct. If we had opted to have the French Toast sent out with our omelettes, then requested to go containers, that would have been permissible? It seems to me, it would have been more financially prudent to make the adjustment (at least in this instance) instead of just canceling the French Toast. Before I could offer my logic, the young lady abruptly walked away in a huff while shouting to the kitchen staff, forget the French Toast. My goodness, what happened to the customer is always right? What began as a day of celebration turned sour within minutes. I haven't been back since. Yes, the food at Mega is yummy delicious, no denying that. The manger though, was so nasty and rude, I don't plan on ever going back.

Obviously I have seen all the people posting about their pancakes, and yes, they are the size of hubcaps. For real reals. The guy next to me ordered them and my eyes almost popped out of my head. But when I walked into this cute little spot on Agnes in West Village, right there on the wall, on one of those dark boards where you slide the letters in (I think they are called felt letter boards) were six glorious words: This Week's Specials - Fried Bologna Sammy. Well there you have it folks. Decision immediately made. Here's the caveat though, it wasn't your typical thick sliced baloney (yes, I know what I did there) with some American cheese on a bun. Nope nope nope. This was pan toasted bread, pickled onions, lettuce, cheese and her bed mayo that was nothing short of spectacular. I didn't know if I would like something more than what I usually had and I can emphatically say yes I did. Had a delicious cup o' Joe to wash it all down and honestly was the happiest fat boy in the whole wide world. The service was fantastic, the food was fantastic, the experience was fantastic. What more could you ask for ?
