Saturday lunch, partying 3. Got there about 1:00 and we had a short wait for a table. Here is what we liked: * Service was amazing. Believe Ava waited on us. Had a small issue with one dish and it was an immediate- "let's get that fixed". Friendly and attentive. * Cute and cozy feeling. * Lots of options beverage and food. *Got the mushroom fondue bread how. Came with scissors to cut the cheese "giggle". Was quite good. *The pickle fries were different, thinner than a spear so a bit crisper. *The iced coffee flight very good. Would do again. What could of been better: *The loaded Keg tots came out lukewarm at best. While they did take them back to remedy, they weren't the same after being microwaved. The tots should have been hot and crisp. * The martini flight was underwhelming and not sure it was worth the price. *The cinnamon French toast was good, but wouldn't say great. Feel it needs some gooey cinnamon brown sugar stuff. Overall, service was amazing. I would say above and beyond. We loved the environment and the food was good. Had a good time and would come back.

Loved the mimosa flight. The cranberry was the best! I had the chicken and waffles and that was so good too!!! Everything was made from scratch. The ambiance is bright and relaxing. Service was quick!

Hard working type family place; was empty when we came in for an early dinner but a few more people came in after and it's kinda cozy up in here nice you get passed the unfinished floors and weird separate bar set up. There's a separate wall that covers the bar top from dining seating on one side. Only open til 9 pm. Very welcoming workers however and really nice people. Seated quickly, since no one was here and provided a carafe of water an cool/ crazy drink cups for kids. Nice bonus for the rugrats. So quite the cocktail menu and a lot that I wanted to try. Got the bourbon smash and the coffee- bourbon cocktail. Bourbon smash was like maybe 1/2 a cup full so in two sips it's gone and a bit sour. The coffee bourbon "shot in the dark" was good! Dug that one. Food- started with the crab stuffed mushrooms and pizza balls. Not bad; didn't care for the sauce that came with the mushrooms but the pizza balls were decent. Also tried the stuffed pepper soup; good meat in it but watery. Next I had the pesto chicken sandwich; really didn't have any flavor/ bland. Nothing special. Also tried the cheese and bacon jam sandwich. Eh. Would have just preferred a bacon grilled cheese sammich. Overall, wanted this place to be a hidden gem but it kind of fell short of that. Really like the people that work here and it seems they have a nice field of locals/ regulars which is great. Just need to work on their culinary aspects to be truly great. And maybe finish the building off. Feels a little under- done in terms of style and setup, like a basement being finished in phases.

We reserved for a larger group on a Sunday afternoon. The space is really cute, and clean. Parking is behind the building. Noise level was moderate despite the brunch crowd. The server was kind, but harried. Some of the group complained that coffee refills took several requests. Another was disappointed that his French fries unfortunately came to him cold.... I ordered their Sunday soup-of-the-day, a minestrone. It was served hot and peppery. In addition, ground meat was added, kinda like chili. I LOVED it, but for those not into spice, I'd avoid it. The standout for me was the tasty Quinoa Salad. A warm, roasted butternut squash addition was the perfect thermal variant! My companion ordered the Quinoa Salad with chicken hicken, and raved as well. Highly recommended should you want to try this menu option on your visit.

It's nice with the natural light coming in and has many little tables to fit a lot of people. We got greeted quickly and sat fast on a late Sunday night. The service was fast and the food was good. The creamsicle mocktail was great id love to come to try the iced coffee flights another time. They have a good happy hour.

To start I got the pizza rolls and bourbon smash drink. The pizza rolls were very good, I could tell they made the marinara sauce in house. The drink tasted amazing and was very potent. As an entree I ordered the French dip sandwich with truffle fries. My lady ordered the gluten free penne noodles with meat sauce and meatballs. The french dip was mediocre at best, tough meat, hard to chew. The Au Jus was decent and so was the horseradish. But the meat brung my rating down significantly. The truffle fries were amazing perfectly seasoned and crispy. Would I come back? Yeah but not for the french dip sandwich...

Stepping out of 2nd and Charles and my family was ready for lunch! Cries of dismay as people didn't know where to go and a brief Yelp search was the salvation of my family as Square One popped up. And let me tell yah, this place is a delight. It's like the trendy cousin of Cracker Barrel, it feels homey but not in a yeehaw way. The staff were really attentive and were crushing it on a busy Saturday. The food was quite tasty. My line up of shrimp on slaw would have made Bubba Gump happy, and the sweet potato fries were just right. Sometimes sweet potato fries are floppy, limp, and maybe a bit moist, but these were well prepared and ready for me to absolutely smash. And smash them I did. If you are in the Great Lakes Crossing area, skip the lame chains and get your butt over to Square One.

This is the perfect brunch spot. Between the mimosa, cocktail or expresso coffee flights you'll find something to make your brunch memorable. Square one has a casual ambience with an excellent menu and wonderful weight staff. A great lunch or brunch or dinner day spot.

    Eggplant parm

This was our first visit to Square One. We were greeted shortly after we arrived by Bob the owner who was very welcoming and told us about the menu, particularly how almost all of their pasta is made from scratch in house. Our server was delightful. I would call her out by name but I can't be sure I am remembering her name....might be Kristina. Maybe Jacquelin? This is a challenge to come up with a star rating. If Yelp allowed half stars I would probably give it a 3.5. But, I rounded up as it's clear the owner and staff really want to make sure the customer is happy with their meal. I started with the French onion that is uniquely served with a scissors. Nice touch! The soup was very good....not overly salty as onion soup can be at many places. My only minor gripe is the croutons had a "flavor" or seasoning to them I didn't care for. Personally I don't think the croutons in baked onion soup need to be seasoned. I had the chicken parm. I thought it was nicely done with a side of pasta that was very good. One issue I had with the chicken parm is that at least in my opinion chicken parm should be medallions rather than a thick piece of chicken. That being said the chicken was tender and a nice portion. My wife had the eggplant pesto melt sandwich which she said was delicious. When it was served there were very few French fries on the plate and soggy and our waitress told her she would bring her more. Turned out that was the bottom of the fries and they had to make her more. She asked for them crispy and when they brought them the fries were great. Honestly, they shouldn't have thrown the handful of soggy fries on the plate originally. Our friends had the herb grilled vegetable fettuccini which he enjoyed, maybe a bit too much oil for his taste. and eggplant Parmesan which was sliced too thick for her liking. The server was happy to replace it for something else. Three of us had glasses of wine which were generous pours. Prices are pretty reasonable. This is a family friendly restaurant so be aware you might be seated next to a high chair with a baby so if that's not what you are looking for on a night out keep that in mind. All in all considering the lack of good restaurants in Waterford, this is a good neighborhood spot to try. Something for everyone on the menu and everyone from the owner to the host is very customer friendly. I have included some photos but somehow I forgot my chicken parm!

We went for a weekday lunch and it was delicious! Great fast friendly service. Enjoyed the iced coffee flight! My friend liked the blueberry french toast and the potato cups were great! Would love to go back and try more and try dinner. Loved there was shelf for families of activities and games.

    Iced Coffee Flight
    Christina H.

My husband and went here for brunch. We found the food and drinks to be beautiful and delicious. We got the chicken and waffle sliders, the Blueberry French Toast Casserole, the Ice Coffee flights, and the Espresso Martinis. If you're going, be prepared to pay a bit more, but the money is well-worth it. We left stuffed and had a great time. Our server was so sweet and cute. She took really good care of us and we suggested drizzling the frosting from the casserole onto the chicken sliders and she loved the idea! Very cute place!

    Cherry Salmon with Brussel Sprouts
    H R.

Service was great. All the staff were dressed in Dalmatian costumes for Halloween coming up. Very cute. What would we order again? Italian vegetable soup - Excellent. This has been cooking awhile. Flavors blended together beautifully. Cherry Salmon with Brussel Sprouts - My boyfriend loved it. Not too sweet. Flavorful. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Lemon Drop with Belvedere Vodka Bread with melted butter brushed on top What would we not order again? Baked spaghetti - It's very good. The sauce is savory not sweet. Meatballs are generous. Plenty of sauce and cheese. This dish seemed put together and baked to order. The meatballs, sauce and pasta didn't seem blended together for hours prior. So it tasted like I ate three separate things that were in the same bowl vs working together as one dish. It was good. Glad I tried it. It's more my preference on how I like baked spaghetti. I would just try something else next time.

What a unique "experience"/restaurant. When my friend suggested meeting at this place, I couldn't…read moreunderstand why we were driving 25 minutes to go here. She knew it because it has an extensive vegan menu on top of the regular one. Once I entered, it all made sense. It's pretty different. I would describe it as part restaurant and part, eclectic, retro, sassy gift/collectibles store. There is clutter, decor, and stuff to buy everywhere you look. Most of it has funny expressions, for example, socks/totes/pillows with quotes. And there's a lot of retro like toys/"stuff" for example mini Rubik's cubes, flower sunglasses, balloon dog keychains, and so much more. You kinda have to see it to totally get the gist, so I'll include a few pictures. As far as the food, we all enjoyed ours. I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes, which were filled with tons of blueberries and had a nice light lemon taste. They were quite fluffy and enjoyable. I don't know what all of my friends ordered, but they were happy too. I would definitely consider coming back. It wouldn't be a regular spot, but it's entertaining enough that I might stop in with someone who's never been.

The vibe inside was bustling but warm -- like the kind of place where everyone's a regular. We came in as a large group (didn't call ahead ), and they still made room for us quickly. The service was incredibly kind and attentive from the moment we sat down. I had the hash brown bowl with corned beef, green peppers, broccoli, and a side of gluten-free toast -- plus lemonade. Portions were generous, food came out hot, and I felt like everything was made with care (though a touch more seasoning wouldn't have hurt). My son and I already have our eyes on the French toast and omelet for next time. My youngest ordered it this time, and yes... I had to sneak a bite. Oh, and the decor? Full of vintage memorabilia that sparked memories from my own childhood. Such a fun touch! We left full, happy, and talking about our next visit. If you're anywhere nearby, go now!
