Authentic greasy good ole American Diner. The go to items are the Whataburger and the Battered French Fries. When you enter the gravel parking lot and see the run down looking building, don't be fooled. Inisde hides good people and great food that satifies the soul. Come in with an open mind and embrace the greasy smells that will make you salivate. Solid establishment for a real non-commercialized burger and fries. CASH ONLY

I cant believe only 10 people reviewed this diner. Actually drive in too. We were blown away by the friendly people here. We saw this on yelp and went out of the way for this dive. The parking lot was riddled with pot holes and inside was kinda old. I think it all added to the nostalgia. As said before the meat is hand made, French fries hand cut, Cole slaw home made. The burger topped some of the best I've ever tasted. Everything was awesome. You just dont see these places just anywhere. I'd go back in a second. Trouble is we are from out if town. Thanks to these wonderful people at this diner.

I was in the area on business and stopped here because "it's a local tradition"; I expected to enjoy the experience more than I enjoyed the food. Well, I was definitely mistaken! I was a little confused when I first drove up. Since the parking lot is basically just a large dirt/gravel lot and others were parked all over the place, I wasn't sure where to park. I chose a space close to the building so I was out of the traffic flow. Before I could even turn off my car, someone was standing beside me waiting to take my order. I told him it was my first time and asked if there was seating inside (I didn't want to take my order with me and definitely didn't want to eat in my car). He said sure and went back inside. Once inside, the waitress came over and asked if I was ready to order. Clearly, they are all accustomed to regulars coming here and not having to look at the menu!! She went ahead and took my beverage order (sweet tea, of course) and I studied the menu. Since I was here for a burger, I asked the waitress the difference between the various burgers on the menu. My understanding was basically the size, so I ordered the hamburger steak burger (I really love hamburger!). I asked whether I should get a small or large fry: she suggested small because of the size of the hamburger steak burger. My fries arrived shortly before my burger. From other pictures on here, I knew to expect a batter/coating. However, I could never have imagined how awesome they are in person. I explained it to friends this way: if you've ever had onion rings, you know that sometimes there's so much batter that you barely know there's an onion in there. Other times, you barely notice the batter, so you get the sweetness of the onion but the slight crunch from the crispy batter. Well, that's the way these fries are. Not only at the fries here hand-cut on-site, but most places have to really cook the fries to get them crispy. With the light batter on these, the batter provides the crunch without drying out the potato on the inside. So you get a fleshy potato with a slight crunch on the outside. As you can tell, I became an immediate fan!! Then my burger arrived. I ordered it with mustard, chili, and slaw. When I first picked it up, I had to quickly put it back down...almost burned my finger because it was so hot (and the paper pouch it was in doesn't provide protection against the heat). When I bit into it, I started to smile. It had a nice char on the outside that was slightly crispy while still being moist on the inside. The chili was very lightly seasoned, while the slaw was nice and crispy. I went to work the next day and complained to one of the locals that she never suggested this place before then. I would without a doubt go back if I'm in the area again...if nothing else, I want more of those fries!!

Stopped in on our way home from the beach. We always try to hit a local joint, and this one did not disappoint. They do have car side curb service, but we opted to go inside. I had the cheeseburger (which was hand pattied) with chili & slaw. Yum! He got the cheese whataburger which was a larger version with let/Tom/onion also hand pattied. But the fries were the most interesting. They are hand cut and very lightly breaded. Cooked just right! I also tried the old fashioned Cherry Mtn Dew like you got at the drugstore fountain counter. It was sooo good! Will def stop in again, but would probably try the curb service next time!

Its okay. Not the best. Could use more flavor in the hamburger meat and more toppings because they are kinda skimpy but its okay

They have a large parking lot with numbered spots, so you don't forget where you parked. The decor is casual and unassuming. It is a large place, though. It can seat 220 guests and has both booths and tables. I dined here for brunch, but you order from the all-day menu. I read to go early to avoid a wait. Service was friendly, but the goal seemed to be to turn the tables quickly, so many customers left with to-go boxes. Well, I was on the road, so I couldn't go, so they had to wait for me to finish. I ordered the flounder with a baked potato, and it came with hush puppies. The food was really good, and I would have ordered dessert too, but I wasn't asked or even finished with my meal when the bill was dropped off. I liked my food, and the prices were reasonable. I don't like feeling rushed, though and like to enjoy my meal. Payment is taken at the front register. I paid cash because I wasn't sure whether they took credit cards, since that register was closed. By the time I got through the line and got change for the tip, people were already seated at my table. So I had to find my waitress to leave my tip. I might return again when it is less busy.

My husband is a wing connoisseur, and he ordered the 10-piece naked wings in buffalo sauce, and I decided to try the frogs leg. Both were excellent appetizers, and we ordered the Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries, and a shrimp quesadilla. Hubby loved his cheesesteak, and I can honestly say that the shrimp quesadilla was the best one I've ever had. We noticed lots of families eating and the waiter we had was terrific. Our server Annie was outstanding, very friendly and attentive if I were just reviewing the service this would be a five star review the only thing she miss was she charged me a credit card fee even though I paid cash, unfortunately the kitchen staff isn't doing this restaurant any favors the frozen from a box preparations give even old greasy bar food a good name. We started with the fried chicken skin appetizer which are delicious if you've ever had them prepared fresh by a chef instead of previously frozen from a short order cook with little to no training, they were horrible if I had only one request it would be to remove these from the menu. After going back and forth we both decided to order the Thursday Night Special - a fried Katfish fillet, fried pop-corn shrimp, fries and plenty of grease with a side of pre-portioned coleslaw - I have no words for this mess I think the cook dumped everything straight from the fryer to the plate without letting the old grease drain back into the fryer. I may be a little harsh on the kitchen but they have issues and if any of them noticed we ate very little of anything plated here and passed on the slaw. Fortunately we were just passing through so we don't have to return here or blame it on "they were just having a bad day" I could of spent my dough on losing lottery tickets and would have been happier, the food here gets a do not recommend...

I have to admit being a native NC resident from Lexington, so I have a stubborn bias. I didn't try very hard ever to like Eastern NC BBQ and have discovered it is the fault solely of the white slaw! Sunday the 17th I stopped in Lumberton and bought a chopped sandwich with the slaw on the side, order number 110 at 12:21. The slaw on it's own merit was tasty. I don't have a weird bias against white slaw, but it belongs with seafood only! such as paired with a platter of fried shrimp and oysters, maybe flounder too! So I still had a nice hot sandwich of BBQ pork chopped with no slaw, (red slaw is acceptable and preferred as a matter of fact) riding down the highway on the way home. Let me tell you I was impressed, pleased, happy, and converted! I am now a believer in Eastern NC BBQ. Now, I still prefer Lexington, (or sometimes called Western NC style) but I can say as long as that white slaw is left off then I am good to go and up for a sandwich of Eastern style. It had the slightly vinegar taste I expected, some decent smoke flavor, and a nice bit of peppery taste. My only complaint is the price was pretty steep at almost $7 with tax for a BBQ sandwich. I guess they're still close to $6 in my area, so inflation is what we're living with. But now I'm converted. Thanks Smithfield.
