She called Dixie Plumbing because her hot water heater needed repair. Instead of helping her fairly, the technician convinced her to replace the unit and charged her: * $5,830 for a 50-gallon hot water heater that typically costs $800-$1,200 retail * $475 for a catch pan worth $30 * $475 for an expansion tank worth $50 In total, she was billed $7,081 -- an outrageous price, far above the standard $1,500-$2,500 for a full replacement with parts and labor. She misunderstood the pricing during the conversation, thinking she was agreeing to about $700. This situation has not only caused severe financial strain but also emotional stress for my mom. I am sharing this to warn others in our community -- please be cautious and always get multiple quotes before agreeing to work. Had a shower ball valve piece break and so the running water couldnt be cut off. Techs show up and dont even take the handle appart to diagnose the issue. They instantly wrote me 3 quotes ranging from a "miscellaneous" for 1000 to the we fix showers not walls for 1900 and charged the company for 2 hours of labor when they were here 20 minutes tops. The service manager was contacted immediately following their departure. He stated he was driving and would look up the account when he arrived at his destination and would call me back. I indeed did not recieve a call back. Today, he called back at mid morning to not only point the finger at us but have the audacity to ask for my next plumbers quote to "stay competitive." If you want to stay competitive, you have to do the job first. Will NEVER call Dixie and will make an effort to let many know that they are over-charging frauds. Called Dixie out to look at tankless water heater that was throwing an error 11 and leaking. The guy quoted $7000 to replace, which sounded ridiculous right off back. The replacement water heater only costs about $1500. Had several quotes from other plumbers, and their fee ranged from $500-$750 to replace the heater and no service fee. Looking at the pictures and review posted from a previous customer, I'm glad it worked out for me to go with one of the other plumbing companies to do the work.. read more

Insanely Expensive! Called to get price to install 4 ceiling fans. Would not give me a price over the phone said a tech needed to come assess the job. Told me there would be $69 service fee to come give me a quote. They said the $69 fee is in addition to whatever the quote is and that it would not be applied to the cost of the job. After I told them to forget it that I would find someone else they waived the $69 service fee. A very nice gentleman came the same day to give me a quote. $1,250 to install 4 ceiling fans. Hello my name is Precious Stallworth and I called to schedule an appointment with Dixie based on the reviews I read. Kamron the technician came out and looked at the plumbing. I never heard back from him and had to call repeatedly to get the quote. Then finally I was sent an email with quotes attached and selected the 3rd one which was $1050. The issue was a toilet that wasn't flushing properly but instead he charged me to snake the line. He never went under the house to see what the problem was until today. Then he came back to tell me it would be 3,000 to 9,000 more. I feel as though I was robbed. Like my hard earned money was literally from me. The issue wasn't resolved at all. At a time like this, you guys should be looking out and helping people. It was heartbreaking and I cried. I'm not rich and I work a 9-5 just like everyone else. He showed no heart. What if someone did this to you or someone you love? But quickly quoted me thousands to fix the problem. Why didn't you do your due diligence and to find the problem when you came out the first time? I had three bathtub drains snaked by Dixie Plumbing and was charged $1,511 ($476 per drain + fees). The work took 30 minutes total. The price was quoted to me before the work started so I could have said no and shopped for a better price. I had to get the work done that day so I agreed to it. The cost was so egregious that I called Dixie later to see if it was correct. They said that $476/drain is their standard rate. I called other local plumbers to see if this was a typical rate. Their estimate was in the $100-$200 per drain range. The work that Dixie did was fine. No complaints there. But, the cost was so out of line for the work that was done that if I were to do it again I would not use them. I would call for price quotes from other reputable plumbers. read more

We had crap coming up in two sinks in basement. Young man wanted to charge us $1500 to snake sink. Wanted to take up toilet in order to snake rather than use clean out. He used a hand snake in a lavatory and told her it was clear. charged her $500 and we still have crap coming up in sink. Very poor customer service and very poorly trained plumber. Our hot water heater went on a Wed night. I called Dixie and they came early the next morning. Our technician, Tony was wonderful and then he quoted us the price. They wanted $10,000 to replace a hot water heater (tankless) and $5,000 for a 50 gal water heater (tank). Tony told me he was bound by their pricing, etc. Who in the world would pay these prices!!! I got Fenn Plumbing to come and put in a tankless hot water heater for 1/3 of the price for a tankless. YES, 1/3! This company should be banned! Such a pleasant experience. The technician was thorough and friendly. They send a picture of the technician prior to arriving so you feel safe. The price was expensive but fair for the quality of work and customer service. The office personnel promptly return calls and explain all costs. Our first experience was great so we chose to sign up for their yearly plan where they check your plumbing, AC and electric for a pretty good fee of course! Plumbing and electric appointments went fine. AC guy comes out and says everything is fine. A month later our AC stops working. Not only did I feel like the inspection either missed something or wasn't done properly, I was also charged a service fee and paid over $200 for a repair WHEN I WAS JUST TOLD IN AN INSPECTION EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD. I was not happy that I was charged a service fee for something that should have been caught a month prior so I called and was told I shouldn't have paid a fee and they would refund it back to me. 2 calls later and both times being told I would get a call back and I still have no refund a month later and nobody has called me back. We are cancelling our yearly device checkup and going elsewhere. read more

My wife had perfectly planned a Christmas surprise. I opened my gift on Christmas eve morning and Dixie was supposed to come at 8 and install an accessory for our toilets. Instead of showing up at 8 he showed up at 8:30, and spent a good 10 seconds looking at the installation and said "that's not getting done today." He complained he was one man, and he had to work all through the holidays. My wife had told the person at Dixie that she wanted the job done today. She was assured it would be done, today. Instead they said they might be able to get it done on Monday. In other words, these folks are NOT dependable. When a business commits to do something at a specific time, and then refuses to go forward because they claim that it's Christmas Eve (a fact KNOWN when the appointment was set), that's both irresponsible and unprofessional. Dixie has spent thousands giving away plungers and other trinkets at different gatherings over the last year. I am not impressed with a free plunger. I am impressed by people who keep their word and do their job when they say they will. I will never call these people again. read more

I had a small clog in the garbage disposal. The technician charged $700 to take the P trap apart that took ten minutes. Save your money and find someone cheaper. The Dixie Care Plan is something they try to get you to sign up for, but if you don't have it for the entire year and try to cancel, all discounts are owed back apparently. I would not recommend them. I understand that they have "experienced" technicians but the prices are horrible. read more

They came out to repair my Dad's leaking plumbing. They charged over 2 thousand dollars for only 4 hours of work and didn't even replace the leaking pipes. They just rehung the piping and resealed it. Extremely overpriced. I do not recommend these guys AT ALL. read more

Dixie has very friendly, knowledgeable employees; from the receptionist to the technicians. I would caution anyone calling them for basic plumbing repairs to be very cautious. They utilize set pricing that can be extremely high even if you just need minor repairs. I decided to write this review solely for the purpose of informing anyone that is not aware. For example, I had two bathroom faucets that the hot water kept running. The estimate was to rebuild 2 Delta wide spread faucets for $1,298. I called Delta & discovered the seats from Home Depot were the wrong Delta part. They gave me correct ones and springs that corrected the issues for $10. I had several toilets with minor issues. Two would not flush all the way as the handle would stick & constantly run and one has a Toto bidet seat attached that was leaking on connector at base of toilet. All three estimates were $475 per toilet to rebuild tank instead of addressing the main issue. I replaced the handle on one and did some adjustments on the 2nd after watching a YouTube video - cost $25. I called Toto and they had an upgraded plastic fitting which would correct the leak. It did. $25. I had them look at my water heaters among a few other things, but just the $2,723 for those overall minor repairs was the eye opener. You are paying a Super Premium price which no doubt helps them with excellent marketing, nice vehicles, and great staff. No doubt they stand behind their workmanship and even have plans you can participate in to save off "standard" prices. One thing I know for sure, ALWAYS get more than one estimate on any job even if there is a service charge. Also, be aware that Dixie actively solicits feedback. I received a card in mail thanking me for choosing Dixie and to post a review or call them if they didn't meet expectations. As I said, great marketing and friendly. I am sure they do care about feedback. I ended up using another company for hot water heaters and other plumbing needs. read more

I've been dealing with Dixie Electric for over a year now and really appreciate them! They aren't cheap, but they do good work and are willing to work with all my issues. For example, Tony Maggio came out to do some work on my water heater in a rental. I was out of the country and didn't anticipate the problem, so I hadn't preplanned for him to come out. He came out quickly and the quote was more than I had in my account. He kindly told my renter that he was ordering the water heater (instead of telling them I didn't have the money). Then when I got the money, I couldn't get a hold of Dixie, nor could Dixie get a hold of me...something was suddenly going wrong with my phone's ability to make and receive overseas calls. To make matters worse, he had now done work and I couldn't pay for it because I couldn't get a hold of the office. He generously relayed texts back and forth between me and the main office until everything was sorted out.
