Bigger stores often don't stock C&R firearms, or won't let you inspect them to your satisfaction, or sometimes are even rude in their customer service, but by far, my experience at Horse Shoe Firearms has been extremely pleasant and has led me to purchase some great finds! The resident collector and salesman at the store is very knowledgeable and we often compare our recent acquisitions. One of my favorite past-times is coming in and having an academic discussion about WW2 Arisaka Bolt Action rifles with Colt here at the store, and it's nice to actually see and hold different examples he has come across available in the store. Their store is small, but they have a vast array of firearms and ammunition from modern to antique. If they don't have it, they can definitely get it for you, and their customer service in selecting products is second-to-none. After a few weeks I called on the status and was told I would get a call back by noon of that day with an update. No call. I called them and I was told that the part would be ready to go the following week on Tuesday. I called Tuesday morning at 10:50 AM; the part was supposed to be ready and I was told the part was not ready. I was not given a new time. I told the customer service representative that I needed to talk to the gunsmith. After a 3 minute wait, the store owner got on the phone and explained his gunsmith quit and when I pressed him about my part, he looked around and it was obvious it was the first time he looked at it since he signed it into his store inventory 3 weeks prior. The owner gave me some sort of BS response and said he would get to it. I told him I needed a time/date it would be ready. It is supposed to be ready tomorrow. We will see. The owner did say that he could not get to it today and if I wanted to take somewhere else I could. That was very nice of the owner to make that offer considering he held my firearm part for 3 weeks to allow it to collect dust and be forgotten. This so far has been one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever had the unfortunate luck to experience in Hendersonville, NC. I was lied too on several occasions and there was zero follow-up with the customer. If you have a gunsmith need, I would highly suggest taking your business to another company.

Today, even though the store's sign and website say they open at 9:00am, there was no one there to be found at 9:45. In times past, I've been in and been patently ignored by employees. Recently, I needed something on short notice and stopped in. I asked someone for assistance. He was stocking items and would not stop working on his little project. That person then made a call, spoke to someone who also decided other things were more important than a customer. Shop somewhere else. Don't bother with this remarkably bad store.

Which was totally untrue!! She did not identify herself but, let me tell you a story.... It all started yesterday Tuesday July 14, 2026. I went into the store looking for tops to workout in. Found three tops and proceeded to the front cash registers. There were 4 people in line before me. One elderly lady running the cash register, there was some sort of hold up .. I imagine it had to do with pricing of an item. The line started getting longer behind me. I looked around for another employee to ask if they could open another register. When I notice another elderly staff lady heading towards the front. As she's walking by me I ask her if she could open another register. She ignored me...walked right past me like I wasn't there!....so that wasn't pleasant...but I continued to stand in line . The customers that were at the first register were waiting for a manager I think. Not sure but .... The first staff member left that register and opened a new one, took the guy in front of me, but.... couldn't finish the sale because he only had a Card and for some reason the staff member could not get the cash register to go online. So we wait.... the other lady comes over all exhaberated and tells the guy he'll have to wait ... they have no idea how long it will take. This is when I decide I have to leave since I needed to pick up my husband from Phyisical therapy in town. Now this was not a happy workplace, you could feel the disdain the staff members had, not one smile not one apology that it was taking so long...nothing, so I turned around and put the three shirts ontop of a shelf that was in the isle leading into the registers. I could hear the elderly staff member mumble something behind me as I was leaving. but I didn't turn around. So, today I went back to the store hoping to get those shirts and to speak with another manager if there was one about the previous day. Another senior citizen, but a man this time, was running the register. I greeted him with a smile and asked him if he was a manager, he replied no.... I am a consultant, this place is awful we do not have enough help... he was about to tell me more when this RUDE woman walks up to me and accuses me of throwing clothing at her staff yesterday!. She then proceeded to take the shirts away from me and said she wasn't going to allow the sale of these items to me and told me to leave the store and never come back!!! WOW Just WOW Yes I will never go back but not because she told me not to, Obviously, based on all the bad reviews .. this store is run by poor management, my hard earned money will be spent at other more deserving establishments.

As far as service, the range staff is top notch! Friendly, helpful, quick, attentive, commanding when they need to be. I go often and they always do a great job! Now, the bad. The service at the main checkout is the worst ever. Sometimes, they're just ignorant, which shouldn't happen with a gun shop. Basic questions cannot be answered. Other times, they're downright rude and refuse to help. One example, I bought a certain ammo one week and came back the next week to buy more but couldn't find it. So, I wanted some help to make sure I wasn't overlooking something. The guy at the counter said all ammo was on the shelves and then literally refused to help me look. This should not happen in a small shop. Even big box staff is more helpful. As for the gun counter, overall they are helpful in attitude, but their arrogance can be so high that they don't help beginners with humility and kindness. Almost like, "Who would buy that? Or everyone knows this." I don't think they're intentionally being rude, but unintentionally not humbling themselves to the level of the customer to understand their needs, budget, etc. Overall, I go there often for shooting, but I try to buy everything elsewhere. They would do well to have a rep in the store who is there to help people in the store itself, like Ace H.

Poor customer service on replacement parts that were defective/poor quality…read more Barrel nut gave out on a simple reassembled after port door installation. Palmetto State has not shipped me a barrel nut for a upper reciever handguard. Customer service tries to "sound nice" but are not helpful at all. Very disappointed. A simple barrel nut replacement is all I requested and need. I even offered to purchase a barrel nut (they do not sell them) but this has been a nightmare. I believe they're absolutely interested in profit from customers on ver budget AR's, yet they're not interested in customers that need replacement parts on their cheap budget AR's--This includes their Sabre line!
