Not very friendly. No smiles. No trying to make you feel comfortable. The doctors/optometrists are cool/good. So if we were to base this Yelp rating on just them then they'd probably get 4 or 5 stars. But as an overall experience, including asking questions to the front desk and trying to get answers, plus the dreaded extended wait time (they told me be there at 9 to fill out paperwork and that the official appointment was at 9:20 ; got there at 9, didn't get seen till about 9:45 for the first part of the visit [before you actually see the doctor] and I was out at 10:30 a.m.) 2 stars. $10 co pay due at time of visit. Eye exam is about $140, insurance covers about 40 something, left with $80 something to pay (I'm recalling vaguely), plus another billing fee I can't remember but I'll double-check on.

My prescription last year was perfect and I trust the one I received today is as well. Last visit he informed me of on set of cataracts.Today he gave me objective and subjective outlook of my situation, due to the option of waiting to do surgery at a later date. The information given was very clear, leaving the option up to me. I understand my situation as explained which is most important. I chose to wait for the surgery but he said I can change my mind and he will move forward any time I would like. For now, returning in 6 months. My exam started at the scheduled time, rare! He gave me helpful information for caring for my eyes properly and found that I was using the incorrect lenses for my eyes. He really knows his stuff. I would recommend him to anyone with eye issues.

Dr. Michael Mendoza is really good at his profession He's at FirstSight Vision Services Inc.(next…read moreto the vision center inside Wal-Mart) and does a great job at his exams and treatment, especially if you have eye issues like mine and require follow-up treatment. He was really patient and thorough in all of my exams and was really down-to-earth and has a great sense of humor. I was there for follow ups for about 2 months, getting checked on every 2 weeks or so due to issues with my left eye and the contact lenses i was wearing. He kept trying different contact lenses and different types of therapy to figure out what was wrong with my eyes and what contact lenses would work for me. I was really appreciative of the time and effort he put into figuring out what was going on. Some optometrists, especially the ones that work as Kaiser, which is my secondary vision insurance, are so quick to look at you, diagnose it (often incorrectly), and then give u some sort of eyedrop, (which didnt work at all for me by the way). After an experience like the one at kaiser, i was relieved when Dr. Mendoza diagnosed me correctly and i didnt need any eyedrops or medications whatsoever. He also provided me with an extra pair of contact lenses for free, as well as trial packs of solutions and coupons for different products. I'd recommend Dr. Mendoza to everyone for your optometry needs. You'll be happy you selected him!

On the level of skill, he makes an effort to make sure you have the correct fitting and checks several times to make sure you have the clearest vision. His office in Clovis is quaint and personalized for those who want to avoid the large crowds, while the Herdon office is high tech with gadgets and gizmos to check tonometry (glaucoma) etc that is open on the weekends (I believe) or was it Fridays that he's there. Don't quote me on that. The staff are great and friendly. Appointments have to be made in advanced as the office is busy (shared with others). I admire his skill in determining your contacts and eye prescriptions more than anything and feel like while there are a zillion optometrists, I would recommend him in a heart beat with confidence. So if you are looking to find someone who is good and trustworthy... head to Dr. Dill.

The place is very clean. Big parking lot. The lobby has a lot of spacious with chairs. Called the call center on why there was a wait, call center had the audacity to say it was barely 1:20 only and my appointment is at 1:30. Apparantly they'll send someone out because the person who was taking the test isn't there at the time. Waited until 15 mins, by now it's 1:45 and I had called the call center again. Finally someone came out. Apparantly she stated I am parking in the wrong stall. YET, my car was in front of both offices front door and either one of them came out. I was finally about to leave at 2. Keep in mind, I've been in the parking lot since 1:10pm!! So much for them waiting you to arrive 15 mins early, yet I made sure to be early because I did not want to run into this issue and they couldn't even get me taken care of in time for being the only vehicle!!!!
