Final Product!

Amazing experience and human! Adam is the jeweler you want by your side for a unique DIY engagement or wedding ring from start to finish. The process with him is engaging and fun; he is an excellent teacher with methods that are easy to follow. Adam's experience shines through guiding us beginners, helping to possibly avoid common pitfalls, and he is patient when you miss his queues. Adam approaches his work with joy and integrity, always remembering he's working with people, not simply a transaction. He is transparent about costs. And he is forthright based on his experience. Adam is more than fair and reasonable in all respects. For my wife's engagement ring, which was more complex for a beginner, Adam informed me it would take longer and require more of his hands-on assistance. The result was a stunning, unique piece that my wife and I absolutely love. I can't thank Adam enough for his support and expertise in making this happen! I wish there was a better-than 5-star option! This is a way to be a human and do business, well done Adam!

WOW. What an incredible, amazing experience. I worked with Adam to make my fiance's engagement ring a few months back - a solitaire diamond with a french pavé. We just got engaged this past weekend, and my fiance can't take her eyes off of the ring. I'm so glad I worked with Adam to make this happen!! The workshop was about 6-7 hours long, and I enjoyed it immensely. Adam not only gave thorough instructions for how to do every step of the metal-working process, he was also really fun and enjoyable to work with. He was a great teacher, and enabled me to do almost everything myself - turning an ingot of platinum into a beautiful ring. There's a certain satisfaction with soldering platinum together with a high intensity torch and shaping it into a perfect circle yourself. The two things I did not do myself were setting the diamonds (which needs to be done professionally) and creating the prongs. I love that the ring I made is not only completely unique and special for my significant other, but is also more durable than rings that are cast (like the ones you buy in stores). On top of having the satisfaction of making this myself, I also knew that Adam would go to any lengths to make sure I was satisfied with the final product; this gave me a lot more confidence going in. You can tell he is truly an artist; he gave feedback on the design of the ring and was invested in making sure I was happy with how it turned out at the end. He was also very transparent about the pricing up front, and even passed on price savings for the raw materials on to me. The final cost of everything was very reasonable. Since we made the ring during the time of COVID, we both wore masks during the entire session and it wasn't ever a problem. We've told our friends and family about how I handmade the ring (with Adam's help), and they were just blown away. No one has ever heard of such a cool experience like this. My partner and I will now have a story to tell for the rest of our lives and a beautiful, special piece of jewelry to commemorate our relationship. Thanks for everything, Adam!!

Do not even think twice about booking a workshop with Adam! There's a reason every single one of his reviews are five stars. First of all, Adam is awesome. Given you'll spend 7+ hours with him, this is important!! He's so positive, welcoming, full of energy and has some really incredible life experiences and stories to share (also he's hilarious!). My fiance and I both left wanting to be friends with him :) Adam really goes above and beyond to make sure you make the ring you want, and that it's truly perfect. He's an incredible teacher, and explains the whole process, and why each step is so important, etc. Not only did we have a great time, but we learned so much. Neither of us are particularly crafty (and as I learned, I do not have a steady hand!!) but he was so patient and kind. We LOVE our rings. My fiance loves his ring so much, he walked out of the workshop wearing it and doesn't plan to take it off (he couldn't wait til we got married!). Book Adam, I promise you won't regret it :-)

Our finished rings

This was one of the coolest experiences and one of our favorite parts of wedding planning! I highly recommend it to everyone. Our bands mean so much more to us since we got to make them by hand for each other, and I'm sure we're going to be telling people about it for a long time! Adam was incredible to work with, his wealth of experience and care for his clients really shines though. You will be in excellent hands. He was also able to match my engagement ring color, which was a very yellow-toned rose gold, by mixing a combination of normal rose and yellow golds.

Mokume gane rings for 2 with the incredible instructions and help from Adam!

My husband wanted us to make these before the wedding, but we just hadn't made the time. Finally, 2-months after being wed, he made our appointment. I didn't realize it was going to be an all-day thing. But, with wanting mokume gane, we learned throughout the day what the process really was, and we weren't mad about it. Adam, first off, is a real cool dude. Funny, smart, and patient. Everything you want a teacher to be... I never did well in chemistry in HS but nobody cares. Adam explained everything we were going to be doing before we did it. And, as my husband and I are both educators, we totally appreciated and understood the reasoning. The overall process was not tiresome or boring at all. It was he opposite, rather. Yea, every minute wasn't action packed fun! But it was super cool to see the changes to the bar of metal that became our rings. We highly refer DIY rings and Adam if you want something personal and unique to you and your SO. Adam makes the experience that much more fun and special. My husband and I are satisfied with the experience and end product. Thanks, Adam for the experience and our rings that we'll cherish a lifetime...

Super awesome experience, my fiance and i had, creating our wedding bands. From melting down the metal to the finishing polish and engraving we wanted. Loved that Adam explained from begining to end. We will always have a story to have with how, where and who created our bands. Thank you Adam Clark

My fiance and I made our wedding bands today with Adam and could not be happier - we had an amazing experience, learned a lot, and adore our rings. Adam is so knowledgeable and strikes just the right balance of putting you in the driver's seat while still making sure your rings come out perfectly. Thank you so much Adam for a fantastic day that we'll treasure forever!

This is Adam and he is truly a gem of a human being.

Adam deserves all the praise in the world. He is kind, knowledgeable, and a great teacher. He loves the craft but what seems to really motivate him is creating a human connection and helping someone fulfill their vision. I came to Adam because I always wanted to make the ring I'd give to my girlfriend (now fiancé). Adam gave me guidance about how to find and select a stone and was always up front about cost. Unlike so many other jewelers, I never felt like I was being sold on anything. Adam only seemed to care about helping me make the ring I wanted to make, based on the budget I could afford. I had an absolute blast working with Adam and I hope to work with him again when we are ready to make our wedding bands. Adam, you truly made the experience for me. I hope to grab a drink with you sometime to celebrate! All the best, Brian

Yes! Review #100! It feels special :D Adam is Utterly AMAZING! I visited him January 2020. I wanted to give my partner a special engagement ring, but it was so hard to decide what to get her because she's not into bling and really just wanted a plain band. I ended up finding Adam on Yelp and I am SO glad I did! He enabled me to Make my girlfriend's band, which made it So much more special than if I had just bought her one. I was also able to put a tiny blue diamond on the inside and have the inside inscribed with something I often say to her (the ring had to be sent away for the diamond placement and Adam had to do the inscription himself on a different day). The experience was incredible. Adam is Hilarious and really knows his stuff. I trust everything he says. If he told me to rub cheese on the band before soldering I would. I don't doubt his knowledge. We went through many ideas before I came up with one that was stable and would last many lifetimes. I proposed in June and it couldn't have been with a more perfect ring! She LOVES that I made it! We are getting ready to go make our wedding rings with Adam! (After COVID gets squared away).

My finished ring! Adam really helped in getting the final look of the ripples I was hoping for.

Making our wedding rings with Adam was a 100% FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!  I wish we had friends that are engaged right now so we could impress upon them how much they should do this! If you live in the SF area, consider yourself lucky to have this guy in your neighborhood.  We drove up from LA to see him!  There's only ONE other person in the state that we could find that would help you make your wedding rings and his reviews were hit and miss. If you're sappy like me and want your wedding ring to have more meaning beyond the inscription, this is ABSOLUTELY the way to do it.  It's an awesome touch to your rings that no one else will have.  When I tell most people that we made our rings, they'll often say that they designed theirs too.  Then I say, "No, no....we MADE our wedding rings."  Then they're confused how we made something that looks 100% professionally done.  You'd think it would cost more to make your own rings but it really ends up costing around the same amount as store-bought rings.  One might think you'd only be able to do this with lower quality material but that's not the case at all.  My wife and I both made our rings from a single bar of platinum and we'd requested Canadian diamonds (we love Canada) ;) Adam is so knowledgeable, friendly, fun and easy to chat with.  This is a HUGE plus because making the rings takes about all day.  And truthfully...you don't want to spend all day with someone you don't really enjoy being around ;)  Adam provides clear, easy instruction and lets you do as much as possible in making your ring.  He was also very helpful beforehand and let us know what design characteristics we would be able to do in the time we had. This review is VERY long overdue.  My wife and I just had our wedding a few months ago and we love our rings.  The fact that we made them together means SO MUCH MORE than just buying them and liking how they look. Honestly, doing this was one of the best and most memorable decisions for our wedding.  Adam was amazing and I can't recommend this enough!

My fiancé brought me here to make our rings as a total surprise on Saturday. I had no idea how to make any jewelry before then, let along a ring. For those who also have zero experience: THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU! You'd be in the best hands coming here to diy your ring. My fiancé had already sent his design in beforehand to make sure it was doable. Upon arriving, the workshop owner Adam greeted us passionately, gauged our preference on the rings, and gave us an overview of the process. I have to say: we knew we were in good hands from that very beginning!! The day was split up into two parts roughly - 1) making your material (we picked platinum) into a ring; 2) finishings to make it smooth and shiny. My fiancé and I were making each other's rings, and Adam would patiently teach each of us how to proceed with each step. Even though the other would be watching Adam teaching the first time round, I found it very helpful still for him to patiently repeat the instructions again when the second person does it. Adam reads our mind somehow so that he knows when we are unsure of what to do, and doesn't give excessive instructions either! He knows we are both so new at it but yet believed in us in the process and managed to make us believe in ourselves :) The day went by fairly quickly and it was super fun! Imagine how gratified we felt transforming a platinum rod into rings! Our rings were FABULOUS - my fiancé is a perfectionist and even he agrees that the rings looked so amazing in any way that they are better than any store-bought ones, and they were just the way he had envisioned. In essence, Adam helped us to realize our dream rings! We are pretty sure that our friends would all be amazed after finding out how we made our rings and will be bribing us for this place's address. Also, Adam has many good stories to tell if you are interested, and definitely super knowledgeable (and not just about jewelry). So as an added bonus, we learned TONS at the end of the day.

The final product

We love our weddings bands. We'd gone looking for bands at stores and online and nothing stood out as exactly what we wanted. We still can't believe that the ones we made ourselves turned out exactly as we imagined and so professional looking. The rings are of amazing quality. What we learned was that commercially produced rings are usually made using molds, which leaves the gold porous. Here instead, the metals are pressed into shape, making the rings denser, heavier and stronger. I was nervous to spend a whole day in the workshop, but time truly flew by. There were so many different steps that the process stayed interesting. And I was surprised at how we really did all of the work ourselves. My fiancé can't wait to get married so he can wear his ring. Thanks Adam!

Adam is a real life version of the burly bearded guy you ask to craft you swords in your favorite RPG. He helped us every step of the way from picking the material to guiding us through the ring making process, not to mention that he's just a really cool guy in general who loves to talk. During the workshop, Adam essentially places you on a guided path and will tell you what to do and when to do the critical steps. There is very little room for goofing up the ring. We actually did end up running into some minor difficulties and he quickly applied a small fix himself, and then returned it to us to continue working on it. He really wants you guys to be in the drivers seat as much as possible, with him acting as someone who gives you directions. My wife and I had a blast torching, hammering, and sanding down our rings for each other and learning a some goldsmithing basics from Adam in the process. Our end product was a pair of white gold rings with each other's fingerprints on the inside. The rings are of professional quality (at least according to my friends who, after checking them out, are now interested in the workshop), are a better value than what you will get at a store, and come with an experience that you and your s/o will never forget. Highly recommend doing this, but book as soon as possible! On an unrelated note-- there is a bakery next door that also makes great pizza and I would recommend all who come to check it out for lunch during the workshop.

You do all of it, including cutting gold!

For a long time, I've made art but struggled with feeling like what I was doing was really creative. Michael, the owner and instructor at the studio, has transformed the way I think about the creative process through the avenue of figure drawing. His classes are the most meaningful part of my week. If you're looking for an instructional class focused on technique for drawing more accurately, this may not be the right place for you. Instead, the classes offer a new connected way of living--engaged with beauty both around you and internal to you. So much of the class is about unlearning not just how you draw but also how you value the creative process. It is the most challenging class I've ever taken and there's no amount of brute force I can apply to get it other than trusting the process and the instructor. Nonetheless, as frustrating as it is, there's nothing else I do that is more rewarding. It takes a lot of effort to strip away your aesthetic value system to get at the core of what you find beautiful, but if the result is a more meaningful existence, then that investment is priceless. Some practical aspects of the instructional sessions. Michael strives to provide only the best models to inspire you not to capture their poses but to feel something in yourself. The medium is stick charcoal and newsprint is available cheaply at the studio. The class is a lengthy commitment of 20 weeks of three-hour sessions but is highly structured and builds on successive lessons. Michael also allows you to make-up classes. Although there is a high upfront cost, for the hours of instruction and model time spread out over the weeks, it's a steal.

When I texted and emailed about my issues, Adam ignored me. No response (and have the receipts for it).
