I called 22 different companies in San Diego before choosing a contractor and from the start, I knew we were going to pick him. He was definitely top 3 most affordable. With his smaller company and no marketing side, you save so much overhead cost. His dad was a contractor, passing down a wealth of knowledge to go along with Steve's already lengthy career. His wife used to work in HR so even our unofficial estimated bid was incredibly detailed. Everything itemized and you knew where your money was going. You didn't just get this huge amount. Then in the actual contract, he includes a payment schedule. They use an electronic invoice service as well, making it easy to keep track of what you've paid. All laid out and professional. With someone being in your home for an extended period of time, it was important that we get someone we would be comfortable around our kids. He was great all around, great to talk to (that's how I know details of his family lol) and my kids are actually going to miss him and his crew haha. He's a tall guy but as nice and jolly as can be! Of course with any renovations, things can't be guaranteed because who knows what's behind the wall or under the floor. But he did the best he could to work with us when any unexpected cost came up. Financially fair in my opinion. We'll be using him again when we've saved up for our kitchen!

Do not use this man-I hired him and paid him close to 7K to paint my tiny mobile home and redo my…read morebathroom. The quote specifically said PREP and paint and he did NO prep and the painting was very sloppy (see pics) When I asked him to fix it he said it would cost extra. In my bathroom, I paid him almost a thousand dollars to install a bathtub and surround, unfortunately that obviously did not include trim or caulking. (see pics) I paid him $250 to install a vanity which of course did not include installing the top or the cabinet doors (see pics). I originally hired him to put in the new sub-floor, he was friendly seemed to know what he was doing however after he refused fix the issues and yelled at me, between when I had scheduled someone to put in the new flooring, we ended up with another hole in the floor (see pics) because he did not do it correctly. I was open to him coming back to fix the issues but I have not heard a word from him. If you disregard my advice and hire him, please take note that he will not give you quotes until the day of (like 10 minutes before he shows up so you don't even see it until afterwards) and the prices are ridiculous, that mirror in the bathroom was $100 to hang. It did not need any cutting and there is STILL plastic on it so I have to take it down and rehang it. Also, after repeatedly asking him to make sure the doggie gate was up when he went in and out of my house, he allowed my deaf and blind 16 year old dog out and thought it was funny (luckily my neighbor saw him and returned him). He also yelled at me for asking him a question (I don't think I've yelled at the person signing my paycheck) so he obviously doesn't like animals or other people. I would just stay away from this guy, he does sloppy work and doesn't even stand behind his in-writing quotes. Getting an invoice from him is impossible, his record keeping is as sloppy as his work is.

One of the drawer faces started to chip and they sent us a new one and Scott came right over to put the new one on for us. Overall he turned our nightmare into a beautiful kitchen. I hired Andler Building Company to replace my kitchen window, which leaked water whenever it…read morerained. They ordered a custom, new-construction window, and it fit perfectly. The installer did the job in a few hours, and it looks great! Amazingly, there was not the slightest bit of paint damage, so I don't have to repaint around the window! The window is double-glazed and argon-filled, with high energy efficiency ratings. Pricing was reasonable, with no surprises. Scheduling and communication could have been better. The job was originally scheduled for a Thursday, then rescheduled for Friday, and finally for Monday, with little or no notice for each rescheduling. The project manager (Sam) was always communicative and apologetic when he had to reschedule, and this wasn't an urgent job, so this was no big deal. I would happily hire the company again.

We had a slight issue with how our flooring had been laid originally and thought we might have to go buy another box to compensate, and Shawn and Manny were able to cut some of the remaining pieces to fit. Crisis averted! They redid some baseboards and re-ran our AC condensate line for us as well. Pleasant, efficient and everything looks great.
