I hired DJ Matt Riley for two of my events held at my home. The first was my birthday party, which he performed at the highest level and the second my Bachelor party. The Bachelor party became a sensation with all my friends and colleagues who showed up! For both events, he helped me plan and coordinate the time-lines and music choices. At the events, he played the songs and genres of my choice and then also improvised around them. He also happens to be one of the friendliest persons ever! Matt collects all of the details from early on, which may seem like a pain to a bride, but trust me, it's a good thing! I gave Matt various lists of songs to be played and when they should be played at the wedding. While this was no quick task, I really recommend that brides and grooms do this. Matt does an awesome job at mixing your music, adding in his own touches and songs, that all cohesively flow. He was also very aware of the guests and their preferences. I credit DJ Matt for making our wedding the best many of our family members said they had every been to! DJ Matt from the beginning showed he was a master. He did really great prep work - held several pre-calls with us, asked lots of questions to understand our style, and was very knowledgeable about songs and artists that would fit our vision for the night. He set up quickly and was at the wedding early. He was so friendly and attentive, and checked in with us to make sure we were doing well and were liking the music. He was an excellent MC too, pronounced all the names right, and did a wonderful job of announcing the little events in a fun way and also kept everything on time. He especially is great with kids! We asked him to do something for the kids, so he set up a music/play time at the beginning with hoola hoops and jump ropes. It was so much fun! With 22 kids at the wedding, everyone complimented how this was so unique and such a great way to engage them. In terms of music, he couldn't have been better! He kept the party going by reading the crowd, and always making sure people were having fun. He was the life of the party and got on the stage and led people to several group dances. Matt did the amazing job setting up our ceremony sound and DJ-ing for our wedding! He was professional throughout the process. Meeting with us at our desired time, having a documented timeline of our event (that he followed on the day of) and coming up to our wedding location a week before the wedding day to make sure everything was good. He was there early on the day of and had the sound all hooked up well before our guests arrived. After dinner we moved to a barn for dancing and Matt was ready. He had all our must plays and don't plays down. Finally, and I think most importantly, Matt did a wonderful job getting all guests on the dance floor. He was engaging and fun without being creepy or inappropriate. Almost every single one of my guests commented how much they loved the DJ! He definitely made the party happen. DJ Matt Riley DJ'd our wedding in October 2013 and IT. WAS. AWESOME! Matt was recommended to us by our wedding coordinator, and he was amazing. From our first phone meeting to the day of our wedding he was available to answer all questions, made both my husband and I feel at ease with our music choices and listened to what we envisioned for our wedding. We love all kinds of music and Matt was able to suggest and offer a wide array of artists and songs. He also didn't bat an eyelash when we told him that we wanted to play the A-Team Theme (helicopters and gun fire included) during our ceremony, or that our first dance would be to a song that he had never heard. Matt was the first of our vendors to ask us to develop a plan and schedule for our wedding. This seemed like a lot of work early on but in the end I was so glad he forced us to start thinking about it early. This really helped us determine exactly what we wanted our wedding to look and feel like. We also were able to use his schedules when talking to other vendors and planning the order of our wedding party. The day of our wedding arrived and everything went off with out a hitch. There were no issues with the microphones or the music. Matt played all the music we had requested and more. He was able to please everyone at our wedding, even those that weren't dancing. Any DJ can play good songs, but Matt would begin to play a song and run out to the dance floor, dance with folks who needed a partner, or lead the way in a group dance-off. That awkward situation where you don't know what to do when the song "Shout" comes on? Ya, that doesn't happen with Matt there. Had him DJ for a friend's birthday party in San Jose and he is the best DJ I have ever seen. From the very beginning of the event I was very impressed with the amount of energy he had. During the introductions I felt like a boxer walking to the ring before a fight haha, and he just has one of those speaking voices that gets you hyped up as he transitions into the next segment. The one thing that really sets him apart in my opinion is I have never seen a DJ get up and dance along with all the guests the way he did! He did the Cupid Shuffle, Gangnam Style, and the Macarena with the whole crowd! If you are one of those people who don't like to dance, he will make you want to dance. (Old people dancing alongside teens to "Low" by Flo Rida?!) Even when everyone had left and there were only about four people dancing he was on the floor busting his moves. He will play anything you want whether its current, old, disco, dubstep whatever... just make sure you let him know or have a list beforehand. He really brought the party to life with his energy and enthusiasm and I just had to meet and talk to him when the event was over. I told him everything I said in this post and he seemed genuinely shocked at the compliments. Very humble guy who seems to really enjoy his job. Could not recommend him enough! read more

From the moment we met DJ Matt Riley we knew he was the DJ for us. We were married on Sep 2, 2011 at the Chaminade in Santa Cruz and Matt did an outstanding job. We had over 25 children at the wedding and Matt kept them thoroughly entertained with various games while the adults were eating dinner. He brought jump ropes and hula hoops and played with the children so the parents could thoroughly enjoy their meals. Then when it came down to the real adult fun Matt totally took control of the music and was extremely energetic and enjoyed himself just as much as our guests. We could not have been any happier with our DJ choice. Prior to the wedding we had several meetings with Matt to plan the wedding. He was very accommodating and we met once over Skype as he was doing an event in Tahoe. Several of our guests (and children) commented on how much fun they were having because the DJ did a great job with the music and kept up the energy level all night long. In addition our guests commented on how much energy Matt had. If you are hosting an event where you want a lot of energy then Matt is your guy! The only minor issue was with the sound system during the actual wedding ceremony. We felt the mic's could have been a little louder for the guests to hear. We would not hesitate to hire Matt again.
