We had a horrible paint job DIY'd in our living room by home owners in the past. They left spots bare, spots on the ceiling, and chose a hideous purple-gray we couldn't get past. Using Yelp, we got a few quotes. DK Painting price was average because all 3 quotes were honestly the same price, $1000. We chose DK because he said he'd fix a crack behind the TV (that I didn't even notice), had fair reviews, and uses Sherwin Williams. After accepting their quote via email, an automatic appointment was made for that upcoming Monday. Luckily, I was able to put in time off of work, but I'm sure there is some scheduling leeway, within reason. Kris (the owner) communicated via cell, which was no issue. His calls/texts were always professional and concise. He was the one to paint the room, solo. Im sure it would have been faster with a larger team but he finished the walls himself in 2 days with a 24ft ladder no issue. He also took the blinds and replaced them himself, which was nice. During his painting, he did notice a corner of the windowsill molding (ew I know). He was kind enough to cut out that chunk and patch it with no extra charge. He also added some wall texture in a spot that was patched (and I again, never noticed lol). I'm glad to have found a good painter at a fair price, and I'd happily hire him for his services again. read more

Here's my timeline with DK Painting 7/1/19: I requested a price quote to have my garage door repainted. Paint on the bottom was peeling off and the HOA was all over me about it. I received 4 quotes by posting my paint job on Yelp 7/3/19: I emailed Kris (the owner) a picture of the garage and received a quote. I requested a date for the paint job to be completed. 7/8/19: I was contacted by Kris to schedule for the next day. (after the 4th of July holiday weekend) 7/9/19: They arrived at 10 AM as scheduled. The whole job was completed in under 1 1/2 hours. I was really happy with the communication from start to finish with DK Painting The garage looks great with the shiny brand new paint coatings and the HOA has removed the violation from my account. Overall, the rooms and walls painted look good. A few challenges with the service overall: - His wife showed up as well. She helped and did well, it was awkward it wasn't communicated that more than 1 painter will show up ahead of time. Would have been nice to know how many people was expected to show up, especially during the initial estimate I was told only 1 painter was needed. - The infamous shoes in the house! I don't like shoes in the house and considering they walked up and down the stairs, tons of foot traffic (plenty of clean up after they left) - They used my outside water without my knowledge or approval to wash their paint buckets. I wouldn't have had a problem if there wasn't paint everywhere. Paint was all over my decorative rocks. I could see the family on camera shuffling their feet to take the paint off the rocks, kicking them everywhere. The paint washed down between my home and a neighbors onto the street - He charged more than was originally quoted. Original quote $1050 (two spares, loft wall) and final charge $1160 (a spare and loft wall). Granted he had to buy two gallons of paint (I didn't have enough), but the initial quote had more walls painted compared to the service I actually received (changed my mind). SW's paint runs me approx $55 a gal so what was the extra charge for? I figured his overcharge included his tip. In conclusion, I think you can find better service at another company. He and his family was nice. Good walls but overall "meh" service. read more

I painted my bathroom with one coat of a yellow color that I hated. I also found that I really dislike painting and was afraid it wouldn't look good when I finished so I decided to hire someone (and changed my paint color). Kris was prompt in responding for my request for a quote. He wasn't the cheapest but he was very affordable and has great reviews so I hired him. Kris was professional and pleasant. He did a wonderful job painting my small bathroom and he finished quickly. I am so relieved that I hired him and the project is complete! The only downside is that he didn't have a receipt pad to provide proof of payment. I paid cash so he said he'd text confirmation of payment. UPDATE: he followed through and provided a text message verifying payment. Additionally, he didn't paint behind the toilet tank which didn't look good. Fortunately, I had a "tight spaces" brush that I had purchased when I had originally planned to paint by myself. I was able to paint behind the tank w/o problem. Summary, I love this painter but you'll need to ask him to paint behind the toilet tank. read more

When we decided to paint our house for the first time since it was built (1996), we thoroughly investigated about four different house painters. All of them looked promising, but we ultimately decided to go with DK Painting based on their existing ratings and the attention to detail exhibited by Kris when he provided an estimate on our house. Kris and his team did a fantastic job. They provided advice on paint combinations before we began the work, but also patiently made adjustments when we realized that we had made an ill-advised decision on how to apply the trim. The only less-than-stellar aspect of the entire experience was the limited correspondence we received as we faced a delay before the work actually began (one or two more emails to let us know what's going on can make a world of difference), but in the end what matters is the quality of the work, and we're extremely pleased with how everything turned out. In that light, I certainly would rely on DK Painting again (for the inside of our house, perhaps, because we don't plan to touch the outside for quite some time!). read more

I have been trying to remember the name of the company that I hired from Yelp and finally found the information since I am hiring another company for some interior work. I hired DK Painting to come paint my exterior fascia, they quoted me $1,000 for labor and materials. Kris (I believe, may have been another team member) came out in August and did the job. I have attached photos of the quality of work for your viewing pleasure. Not only did he paint my actual house once, but three times. When I asked about it before he left he claimed "that was there when I arrived." I will also include an image of my house before his visit, clearly showing it was not there. Also, I have included an image where he did not finish painting the fascia and you can clearly see the cut off from the front of the house. I wish I would have had them fix their mistakes but it's a bit late for that. I would not recommend this company. Poor workmanship and the attempt at gaslighting me was quite sad. I will have to hire someone else eventually to fix their mistakes. read more

Kris responded and met us the next day, as another person who was helping with our house (patching holes) created a disaster of our walls and we needed to repaint quickly to get our house listed on time. When there was a bump (i.e. the painter assigned got sick, Kris stepped up and worked on Sunday to help make sure we made our deadline). The price was more than reasonable. We were like everyone looking for a first-time painting contractor; a little concerned about what to expect. But can honestly say that Kris at DK Painting wildly exceeded all of our best-hoped expectations. Neither of us is a big fan of painting so we looked through Yelp for a company that would do our kitchen. This room had the original paint from when the house was built ten years ago so you can imagine how it looked. Kris gave us a very good price based upon the measurements and pictures we provided. He showed up on time, completed the job in 1/2 day, no spills, splatters & completely cleaned up so that the room looks better than new. As he was leaving, I mentioned that we received an HOA notice regarding the wood fascia outside the house. After a few measurements, he gave an estimate right then. That was good, but then after we casually mentioned hoping to afford to have the entire outside of the house painted at some future time, he worked up an estimate that was significantly below what we guessed the cost would eventually be. He and his assistants worked with us to select approved colors, and began work a couple days later. With their judicious taping, papering, drop-clothing (is that a word?), etc. not a single overspray or splatter. The house looks absolutely beautiful now. I'm not sure what else I can say other than if you need painting done, give DK & Kris a chance to bid on your work. You will absolutely be happy with the job from start-to-finish! read more
