Rented from DKD for two years before PCSing to another duty station. Fernando was very helpful with the application and moving in process. We moved to El Paso in October of 2019 we rented a house through DKD and never had any problems we even had a roof leak the day before Thanksgiving and they sent someone over right away to fix it we are now in our second home and getting ready to move into our third Only because the owners wanted to sell the houses I have had no problem with DKD or the maintenance people I would recommend DKD to anyone read more

I use DKD to rent out one of my properties and I couldn't be happier with the service. They found a renter in a little over a month, and while waiting for a tenant they repainted the inside and repaired whatever needed fixing. They don't charge you for the work until they find you a renter, which is taken out of your rental income. Although repairs are rare, anytime they're done, they use reasonable contractors and it never breaks the bank. Before using DKD my wife and I managed the property ourselves which was a constant headache. Now, my only dealings with the property are watching a check get direct deposited into my bank account every month. They make renting easy, cost effective, and painless. This company is terrible. We are a military family who rented from them for 3 years- we try to support veteran owned businesses but cannot recommend them to other families or homeowners. They are inconsistent in repairs - sometimes taking months to fix things. We had sprinklers that didn't work for months and the grass became ruined even though we were responsible for maintaining it. Their communication is the worst I've experienced. They have an emergency number but don't count on it being answered or messages responded to. You have to schedule your own maintenance requests which is fine but they make appointments and you never know if they will show up. Hard when you have to arrange to take time of work and then they no show on a regular basis. Fernando I found to be extremely rude. Our home was filthy when we moved in- appeared clean on the surface but food crumbs/toys/filth when you opened cabinets and drawers. We had to clean thoroughly before unpacking but were required to have it clean when we moved out. Move out was horrible- They actually list the tenants personal phone number on the listing for realtors to call and schedule showings. I was receiving phone calls weekends, nights from people requesting to see the house. Fernando said they were realtors and they probably were but from my perspective I have random people calling me at all hours and I have no way to verify who they are and they want access to my home. This is completely unprofessional, DKD should be scheduling and verifying these people. I am not here to do your job for you. Office staff very unprofessional and unhelpful. People would be scheduled to show up to view the house and then no show - again a huge inconvenience. Once they called to confirm a showing a couple hours before and I missed the call and didn't see the message ( I was busy packing and pregnant- sorry!) And then received threatening phone calls and emails that if I wasn't available for the showing I would be fined - I'm sorry but I already scheduled the showing. If you want to confirm maybe you should do that prior to the day of. Not everyone lives with their phone attached to them. Unbelievable experience. RUN from these people!!!! read more

I scheduled an appointment to view a home and I did show up 10 minutes late but when I got there, Fernando left an application in the door and left. I called the office and they told me to come back later that day if I wanted to see the home. Absolutely terrible! They deserve 0 stars. So unprofessional, extremely rude. Not military friendly at all, my husband had not received his deployment orders as they didn't know when the unit would actually leave the commander wrote up a letter for all families and they refused to accept it even after speaking to the commander. We had to pay and extra month of rent and forfeit our deposit. Not to mention the house was filthy upon move in. When we got to the new rental property, the keys didn't work in the door, but the moving truck was there so my husband had to hop the fence and go through the back door. Once we were in the house, we realized that the fireplace that was advertised on their website was not in the house at all. There were unpainted patches on the walls, trash ALL OVER the back yard, and the bedrooms smelled so strongly of cat urine that I had to leave the house. Ah. And the garage door didn't actually open. So I called them and they were horrible. They said that they were going to keep half of our deposit because they had to "compensate for the time the property wasn't listed on their website". They'll be hearing from JAG, and my family and I will be doing everything in our power to have them blacklisted. It disgusts me how easily they threw a young military family like ourselves (on a fixed budget, etc.) under the bus, especially when the guy claims to have "military experience". Trust me, call Isabel Chacon from Century 21 instead, she saved our butts after this horrible mess at DKD. read more

Especially if you are military!!!When we moved in there was a ton of dog hair all over the carpet in the entire house! We had no furniture yet as we are military and so we had to sleep on the floor and I have 3 kiddos. We called these crooks and were told someone would call us back and a day later nothing. So my husband calls again and speaks to Yvette she finally sends someone to clean the carpets. Fast forward to a year later and it's time to move out, we have lived on military base twice and have left the place spotless and have never gotten any deposit taken out because like I said we are very clean people. When it was time to do the walk through nobody from this company did a walk through with us. Instead they hired a painter who walked through the house alone and DKD took his word and painted whatever the man said and took $600 from our deposit!! We had pictures hanging in the living room and was told by these crooks that my husband had to fix where the nails were on the wall mind you these are tiny and barely visible. Because my husband had painted tiny spots where the nails were somehow we were charged $600! Are you out of your mind?!!!! The house was about 1,300 sq ft why on earth would you take $600?!! Did they paint the entire home?!!! Then my husband spoke with the owner of this company I forget his name and tells him how they are crooks and how they screw over military people and this man has the nerve to do a group text with us and the owner. It was our loss we left it alone but now we are homeowners and getting ready to move to another state and guess what? We won't be using DKD for our rental home! As a homeowner, I had a horrible experience with DKD. They didn't care about my property. When tenants moved out, not only did they use the rent money I was supposed to receive, but they also used up the entire security deposit on costs that were well above and beyond what would be a normal charge, and the jobs were done horribly! They tried to rent out my place with lots of dirt and grime all over the place, and that's after I was charged a major cleaning fee. After I was charged a ton for "spot painting", there was still holes in walls, mismatched paint, it was horrible. I had to pay someone else to re-do the work. In general, they also weren't quick to respond to any emails or phone calls. If I were you, I'd go a different route. read more

My family of 4 was stationed at Ft. Hood than the Army relocated us to here in El Paso. We stayed in a hotel until we could find a firm that will work with us to get us a place right away. We found DKD Realty Associates. We were there at their office to pick up a listing of homes available and we had the opportunity to meet with the owners and agents Fernando and Yvette. They were very nice and were eager to show us some houses. We were happy that they were willing to help us find a place asap. Six months went by and there were problems with the house. The air conditioner for some reason was leaking water, the disher washer went broken, and the handle on the garage came off. We contacted their office and left numerous messages. No one returned our calls. After work, I drove to their office (this is June) and spoked with the associate. She said she never received any messages from us in regards to any of the work orders. I was furious! What kind of office is this that you can't keep your messages in order. I told her to relate the message to Fernando and Yvette, we were not going to pay rent for July until these work orders get fix. A week went by, Fernando contacted me and said "they still need to collect rent and they will have someone come out and examine the air conditioner and etc." I asked Fernando why it took him a week to returned my calls. His excuse was I'm sorry but we are just really busy at the office. Which couldn't be further from the truth! From the time we spoke nothing got done (another week went by). No one came to the house. We went out of our way to hire people to come to the house and get things fix. After everything was fix, my husband went to their office and gave the associates copies of the receipts and told her, this is for Fernando and Yvette. They owe us money for taking their sweet little time getting to our work orders. I hired people to come in the home and got it fix. The associate was rude. If you must know who this associate is--it is their daughter and avoid any contact with her if you can!. At first impression She may come off as being caucasion but she is just as hispanic as her parents. Standing at 5'10 with short reddish brown hair and fat. She said, we cant be held responsible nor refund you for things you decided to have fix on your own. Looking at your work orders Fernando has someone coming to the house tomorrow. Really? So how come no one contacted us to keep us updated? We shouldn't have to call your offfice each and everytime. The way they do business is FISHY! If you want things done, you have to be on their schedule. My husband told her to relate a message to her mommy and daddy I'm giving my 30 days notice. We filed a complaint with Texas Real Estate Commission against DKD Associates and are looking forward to moving out in September. We would not be surprise if they decided to keep all of our deposit $1300 and try to charge us more once we move out. This family own business comes off as nice and eager to help you find a home that fits your needs. Once you're situated in the home, they can care less about you and the home. If I was the homeowner who hired DKD Realty Associates to manage my home I would want to know and feel secure that DKD Realty Associates is taking care of my property. That is what I pay them for. But the truth is people, Fernando, Yvette, and her children only wants your money. These money hungry people as I said don't care about your needs or the home. TAKE YOUR MONEY AND GO FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. YOU WILL REGRET DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM. If you have problems with the home KEEP ALL RECEIPTS and any necessary documents! Never have I EVER rented from such a horrible, unprofessional company! We have been moved out for a month now and still haven't received our deposit back. We were told "when we can we will get to it." Not to mention the worst year ever, we called them many time for several things that broke and they would say they'll send someone or talk to the landlords and then never hear back. Our fridge that came with the house broke one time while out of time, came back to all the food bad and bugs everywhere, called dkd and was told the fridge was a privilege and they couldn't do anything about it but also I wasn't allowed to unplug it for safety reason so I had to use renters insurance to get it fixed! I am surprised to read these comments about DKD. I am currently renting from DKD Associates. They have always responded to any of my needs, whether it be plumbing or fixing my air conditioner. When we went to the office to sign the lease, the staff was very nice and even had an area for our children to play and watch movies while we did the lease. We are a military family, and we would highly recommend this company to our fellow Army families. Our house was clean except for some dusty window sills, but we called them and they send the cleaning crew out to take care of it. The positive ratings on this company are highly suspect I wonder how many of the ratings are actually from real clients. I have had rentals for over 10 years and have had several property managers. This is by far the worst that I have tried. I tried then for a year and my property was rented for 3 months and required an eviction due to poor screening. They have a large inventory of vacant properties that are not moving. Their maintenance and repair fees are enormous, about 2-3 times the area's average, even though they say they are using outside contractors...which I find suspect. When my tenant was evicted, the maintenance and repair fees somehow matched up and was deducted from the entire deposit-which should have instead been sent to me since the tenant was short on rent. Please do not make my mistake by contracting with them. read more

DKD talks a great game but when it comes down to getting anything done for home owners Fernando does not look out for their interests. He's okay with providing mediocre customer service as long as renters are paying the rent on time. They perform any type of yearly inspections of the home to ensure that the tenants are keeping up the property. In addition they do not actively encourage tenants to sign leases and let them go month to month never collecting any extra money to entice them to do so. Fernando, rude, uninformed and less than conscientious. Called DKD and Associates today to get a bit of information regarding the particulars of Property Management. It was 1:40p and the receptionist that answered said there was no one available to answer my call until this afternoon. I told her it was afternoon -when could I expect a call? She said around 4pm. My immediate question was if it was my tenant and they had an emergency what would she do? After leaving my number...no less than 30 seconds later Fernando called and told me that they did not want MY business. Hilarious! I had no intention of leaving my home with a company that was out to lunch past 1pm with no competent staff on hand to answer a simple question or two. I am military and have been for 24 years. My expectations are high, but Fernando and his team lack the intestinal fortitude to adhere to basic customer service norms. Servicemen beware! I went to this site because of a couple of great reviews. Quite frankly I think those reviews are not real. You can see threads of bad customer service and entitled attitude throughout their reviews with Fernando popping up as a common thread. Dkd is the worst realty agency ever. Have no care or concern for military their families. They left the kitchen filthy and bathrooms filthy when we moved in. Tried charging us for them changing out a light chandelier. We had water leaks and damage in my infants room and in my other 4 kids room. They said they would do 200 dollars worth of maintenance. Came out and spray painted over the water damage. Never fixed the damage on the roof or the leaks. Had issues with the heater constantly breaking. Had to buy our own fridge for the house and asked us to keep it there in their property because they said it now belonged to them. Swamp cooler broke and no one would come and fix it. They said we would have to pay rent after we moved out until they rented it out. Do not see how it is our responsibility to pay for rent every month until they rent it out when we were only doing a month to month contract. No one ever answered the phone, when going to pay rent took over half an hour for someone to talk to me because they were to busy taking to each other and playing with their babies they brought to work. Had no concern for my issues at my house. Would never recommend them and would never rent from them again. read more

I strongly encourage you too look elsewhere. These people don't know how to run a business. All they do is scam people out of hundreds of dollars. We were charged extra for a mountain view in our home; we don't have 1 window that faces a mountain. We had problems from day 1. We had cockroaches at move in and were blamed for bringing the bugs with us. We had to pay for countless exterminator visits, not to mention how filthy the house was at move in. This property has a serious foundation problem and the back of the house has a huge crack in it. The roof is leaking and the ceiling is coming in and they refuse to fix it, we have plumbing issues that never got fixed, including a rotting bathroom vanity that they refused to fix. The floors are uneven and sinking in, in some places. The garage was closed in to make another room for square footage; there is no heating or air down there so in the winter it's too cold to use and in the summer you could die of heat exhaustion. I can't even let my kids in that room. PLEASE DON'T RENT FROM DKD, THEY WILL ONLY RIP YOU OFF. read more
