Buckle up, folks, because I'm about to rave about dLena! We held our staff luncheon there yesterday, and it was hands-down the best dining experience we've ever had as a team. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed dLeña. We ordered takeout and our dishes arrived on time. We got the Atún tacos (smoked chili crusted tuna / poblano tartar / citrus cabbage) and the broccolini. The three tacos were delicious, with the tuna cooked perfectly (rare), the cabbage providing a fresh element, and the poblano providing a nice smokiness. My only recommendation would be to reduce the amount of tartar. The broccolini was well-cooked and seasoned although a bit overpriced at $10 given that there were four stalks and it was only seasoned with smoked chili, olive oil, and sea salt. I went to dLeña for my Birthday and the food was delicious. I had the Maryland crab guacamole and the empanadas. I also had the margarita. The drinks were good but they are sooo small. The service was good and the food came out pretty fast. After dinner, we went downstairs to the live three man band. By the way, they were pretty good. Today I was traveling for business and decided to drop in here for lunch and I feel like I discovered a foodie's dream! All of the dishes and drinks were perfection! The staff was very friendly and the food tastes as good as it looks! My favorite dish was the Guacamole Bonito ! The tuna and guacamole were perfectly seasoned! One of my favorite spots in DC. The ambiance is amazing, the downstairs lounge is a great hidden gem that serves a full menu and their mezcal flights and tomahawk steak is a legendary pairing! Dleña always has the best food! Ordered the birria barbacoa tacos, enchiladas, skirt steak, tuna tartare Guacamole and the salmon and everything was flavorful. Very pretty drinks as well. The 3 dishes were more than enough food for both of us, the lamb shanks come with different sauces/salsas and tortillas. The service was honestly very bad, our server checked in with us 3 times the whole dinner but nonetheless it was very busy and we tried to be understanding. The ambiance was beautiful and the restaurant is huge and very nice but packed! I very much recommend the ribeye and lamb shanks and i would come back. Hands down, one of the best speakeasys in DC. If you love jazz, this is your place. The intimate space is warm, cozy and has live music. The drinks are superb (passion fruit fizz). The service was very attentive and helpful. But the food was only decent. I expected more. The rib tacos were 3/4 cheese and did not have very much meat. It didn't feel very authentic. Overall it's a good date night spot but has a lot of room for improvement. I also recommend all restaurants seeking 5 star reviews to offer complementary bread with butter. i really enjoyed my experience here! yesterday was my first time trying dLeña. the atmosphere is very aesthetically pleasing & the employees are super friendly. i wasn't really hungry so i only ordered the maryland crabcake sliders w/ fries to eat. they were extremely good! the crab cakes came w/ 2 different sauces on opposite sides of the bun, lettuce, & another topping that kind of resembled slaw of some sort. i could've did w/o the sauces, etc but it was still good w/ & w/o them! the bread used for the sliders was toasted to excellence. soft with little crisp & had a quality taste. i was surprised that the french fries were seasoned when they came out because restaurants don't usually do that. i was extremely satisfied. my boyfriend ordered the chips & salsa as our appetizer & the dLeña burger for his meal. he says the burger was great & very flavorful. i wasn't a fan of the chips & salsa. the chips were bold tasting & a little salty. it reminded me of a salty dorito. but the quality of the chip was great. & the salsa tasted homemade. for drinks i ordered the infamous "mercado" which came with the cute pink hisbiscus & rosemary foam & orange inside. my boyfriend ordered a strawberry margarita. i'm not a big drinker so i wasn't a fan of the mercado but his margarita was amazing! we ended up swapping drinks LOL. i couldn't taste the alcohol in the margarita which was perfect for me. it was like a refresher with lime. i also got free dessert for my birthday! i will be going back to try other things soon! read more

Wagyu steak was salty... but for 53 dollars... definitely would have expected more given you can get a MUCH larger steak for same price. Enchilada was good. No complaints. Desserts were fantastic. My second visit here was fantastic and a nice refresher from the first one. As I walked in, I was greeted by the hostess, who was cordial and immediately sat us. We were sat in the nice u-shaped booth this time, sectioned off from the other guests, which felt intimate and yet, still gave a great view to the rest of the restaurant's beautiful decor. We were shortly greeted by our server, who took our initial drink orders, then left to peruse our menu. Based on what we liked on our last visit, we ordered the same Casa mango margarita and Mercado Margarita (which has tequila, passion fruit, lime, and hibiscus-rosemary foam), Ceviche Amarillo, and Queso Fundido to start. The drinks were ever so tasty, and a sight for sore eyes. The ceviche, basking in mango and orange slices, was chilled on ice. The queso fundido was served with blue corn tortilla and salsas. Nothing short of marvelous at this point, with attentive service throughout our experience. For our main course, we wanted to change it up and shared the Short rib al Carbon, which if it wasn't already neatly arranged atop a rib bone by the slice, it would've fell right off the bone anyhow with how tender the meat was. It was juicy, and had just the right amount of flavor, and was paired with Bibb lettuce, sauces, and their pickled vegetables. At this point, I was plenty full, but still had a second stomach for dessert, so we finished our meal off with our usual favorite of creme brûlée's, which at dLeña, adds espresso as a twist to the classic dessert. Our food arrived at lightning speed, with excellent staff checking on us. The service matched the beauty of this place, and I was so impressed with my visit.
