I'd give this place six-stars if I could!! First off, the location of this salon is phenomenal. Conveniently located in the heart of La Jolla, right on Girard. Tons of foot traffic to observe as I enjoy my service. Second, the ambience of this salon cannot be understated. Modern, cool, extremely artistic. You can see the pride in ownership and of the staff by the way they maintain this business. Location and salon aside, the stylists are incredibly talented, thoughtful and artistic. Passion and style seeps through their scissors and brushes. All staff members are professional, kind, and eager to help. I came in for a cut by Hannah, color by Jerrod and keratin tx by Dan. I walked in with extremely difficult hair. My hair is wirey and frizzy; it looks extremely damaged-- as if I put my hair through a lot of damage when in reality, I'm very low maintenance! I came in seeking a haircut and some golden tones to brighten my hair up for summer. Right when I walked in to this salon, I knew I was in the right hands. Jerrod was very attentive to my coloring desires; he took his time answering all of my questions and when assessing my hair. He was extremely knowledgeable about color. In just one session Jerrod was able to bring light into my previously dull hair. The process wasn't overdrawn and was very comfortable. It can be extremely hard to find the right shade of blonde for my olive skin tone but Jerrod did NOT disappoint. The color is perfect and the babylites give my hair dimension, light and much needed change. Next I had my haircut by Hannah. Again, she too was very attentive to my needs. She really took the time to listen to what I was seeking out of this cut. Hannah was able to bring my ideas to life and elevate them to the next level. I have never been able to rock a blunt, short haircut. But Hannah was positive I could. I was soooo surprised. She took the time to add dimension to my hair with layers. When I walk, my hair moves! I am absolutely thrilled with her ability to give me previously unobtainable results. Last, I had a keratin treatment by Dan. He was thorough and detail oriented. He took pride in ensuring every last hair had been treated. In the end my hair was blow dryed and straightened to integrate the keratin into my hair. The keratin Changed my hair texture from coarse to silky smooth! The keratin treatment really tied the cut and color all together. My hair was now manageable and beautiful!! I couldn't stop admiring it in the mirror. Dan checked over my hair cut, color, and keratin treatment and BOOM I was finished. The whole process was seamless from start to finish. I have never been one to care about hair but after this treatment I see my hair as the ultimate accessory. I will be sure to refer Dleux to all my friends and coworkers. I came in the other day to get ready before a work event I had...The end result? Exactly what I didn't know I needed. They gave me layers that frame my face perfectly, added movement and bounce I haven't seen in years, and somehow managed to keep the length I love. Dan nails my cut every single time. He makes the time to listen to your previous styling experiences and his experience and expertise are evident from first trim, to finishing touches. He is very detail oriented. He uses top tier tools for hairstyling, and offers high quality and natural hair products (shampoo, conditioner, pomades, etc...) which are essential toward the maintenance of your beautiful hairdo. I have never left a review before but I feel the need. first I want to say my blow dry was great. but I was so upset. I spend several months a year here and the salon is walking distance from where I stay so I figured perfect for a weekly blow out. I went had a great blow dry and made an appointment for the following week came back and when I went to pay the man at the desk charged me $10 more which is more than 20% more. I said last week it wasn't that he smirked said nothing and then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to schedule for next week. I think that is very bad business. I think they have a transient clientele because of the location by all the hotels and vacation rentals and he just pulled a number out of his head randomly. it's a shame because I never do my own hair and will go somewhere else from now on read more

I've been here twice now and I've been really happy with the experience and results each time! Dan is very friendly and I think he's really great at communicating what he's going to do and why he's doing it along with your thoughts, which I think is really important as I've been to places where the stylist just starts doing what they think is best or they just don't take the time to hear your needs or ask the right questions. I also appreciate that they carry small brand products with natural ingredients which shows that they take the time to select quality products and not just the most popular big brands. In terms of COVID-19 precautions I feel really safe and it's clear they have high health, safety, and cleanliness standards. I purchased their keratin treatment and haircut package from Groupon. I am very unhappy and pissed with the result. The first three days, before I wash my hair, my hair looks gorgeous, straight and shiny, no frizz. But as soon as I washed my hair with the shampoo I bought from their salon, my hair looks frizzy and dull. The whole process that I paid $250 for, was more like blowout service; you wash it, and it's gone! I called the manager and explained my situation. She said that keratin treatment would not straighten my hair, it only makes styling easier! That even doesn't work because after 3 times wash, even when I use straightening iron, it's nothing better than what it looks like before this treatment. If she's right, then this 1 star is for the whole keratin treatment concept. If she's not quite right, then they don't deserve more than 1 star. The photo is taken after the 1st wash. read more

I had a wonderful first experience here! Paige trimmed my hair and did a keratin treatment and she did SUCH a good job. My hair was a complete mess and she fixed my layers, made it so healthy and shiny, and most importantly made me feel so good! Paige is a magician and I can't recommend her enough. Disappointed. They really need to get their act together in terms of scheduling and respecting their customer's time like we respect theirs! Was visiting La Jolla for the weekend and got a 3pm appointment here for hair color and cut. Called at 2pm to ask if I could come a bit late as I wanted to grab something to eat, but they said no as they had a tight schedule. Fair enough. So I show up at 2:50pm to be respectful of their time. They were busy with another guest until 3:10pm... not a big deal. (although if they had told me that they were running a bit late, I could have grabbed a snack during that time!) Then they proceeded to cut my hair before coloring.... unusual? But they said it was based on their schedules... and that they'll only rinse my hair with water before the cut and shampoo later after color. Ok fine. The cut seemed ok - but it was bit hard to tell as they didn't blow dry it properly since I still needed to get it colored! Then I proceeded to wait for the person who was supposed to be coloring my hair. And waited. And waited. After 30-35 mins, I looked over and saw that he was trimming someone's hair - it wasn't even close to being done, and still needed to be blow dried. I lost my patience then. I did not want to spend my afternoon just waiting. I told them that I was leaving - and they just looked over and checked me out. No apology for the delay at all, or for the inconvenience. Not one word to show that they cared.. They also asked me to pay the full amount for the haircut even though I never got a shampoo and they did not blow it out / finish setting it. As I was checking out, I did use the Yelp offer of 35% off but paid a full 20% tip - which, in retrospect, I shouldn't have given the poor service I received. read more

A beautiful salon with a fresh and cool vibe (both people and place). I always score parking right in front (2 hour free parking) which makes my visits even better! Daniel has been cutting my hair for years and is so talented at what he does. He takes his time and makes sure you are 100% happy with his work before leaving. A perfectionist when it comes to getting your cut/(color) right. Love their basin/sink for washing hair too! It is absolutely the most comfortable one I've ever had my hair washed in.
