Carly is literally the best! I randomly got a haircut from her one day, and I've only been going to her for all hair things since. She's now cut, bleached, and mixed up custom colors to dye my hair multiple times for me. She somehow knows exactly how to translate my requests into perfect hair, and I don't make that easy for her. I'm never exactly sure what I want, but I am picky--I give her mismatched inspo pics and vague answers as to just what kind of haircuts I want, and she just magically does things perfectly. I'm at the point where I just tell her to do what she thinks is best, and she has never steered me wrong. Not to mention, she is just a very cool and nice human being, so the vibes while she works her magic are immaculate. So, yeah, Carly is just literally the best hair stylist I have ever had, and I 10/10 recommend her. I was looking for a local salon, as I've been going to Orange County to do my hair for years and wanted someplace closer now that I have a baby. I asked for a base and balayage. The colorist didn't cover my greys during the initial visit (I'm not sure why, but she toned them instead of using permanent color), so I came back a second time to get my hair fixed and this is what happened. She offered to fix it, but I expressed that I wasn't comfortable letting her touch my hair again (considering it was the second time I saw her in a few days). The colorist admitted to being embarrassed that my hair was the color that it was and offered to refund me the balayage portion. Instead, I got a snarky text the next morning and not the full amount she offered initially. An expensive reminder to always review someone's instagram and make sure they have experience doing hair for people who look like you. Happy ending to this story: I thankfully got my hair color-corrected by my colorist at my usual salon where they know how to handle thick Asian hair. read more

Stellar service for a very reasonable price -- and I say that as a New Yorker who has experience with steep prices at salons. Booking an appointment was incredibly easy; I sent a message over Yelp and received an appointment confirmation soon after. I first contacted Waylon asking if they had time for a cut and color fully expecting they'd only be able to accommodate a cut. However, they delivered and gave me an appointment the following afternoon with Dominique for both a balayage refresh and a cut. The salon itself is austere and filled with clientele -- and for good reason! Everyone working there was put together and friendly. I don't think I saw anyone who wasn't smiling and everyone seemed easy-going and charismatic. Dominique was stylish, a great conversationist, and very patient. We spent a few minutes talking about how much hair I'd need to cut off to truly start fresh and get rid of all the dead weight at the ends and what kind of blonde I wanted (a cooler, ashier tone). Even when I asked if we could go shorter after the initial chop and Dominique ended up painting my hair past the anticipated appointment end time, she continued to work methodically and took her time (and even offered me some banana chips to snack on! Bonus points right there). She's clearly a professional who cares about the quality of work she produces. The final product was better than I had hoped for -- my hair (which is naturally black and has been processed twice before) is finally the light, dimensional, shiny, ashy blonde I've wanted it to be! Dominique truly surpassed expectations and I couldn't be more pleased. I thought that was the end of it... but my Waylon experience continued to impress! When I got home, I realized I wanted the blonde to come up higher in the back. I got in touch through Yelp and once again, I received nothing short of stellar service. I've had a negative experience in the past trying to get in touch with another salon in La Jolla for a post-color touch-up, only to be ignored. Waylon, however, is not only professional enough to respond almost immediately, they were also able to squeeze me in the following day and Dominique worked her magic once again! Even though she saw me between appointments, she took her time to make sure everything was done properly and even gave me a great blowout at the end. She is a wealth of hair knowledge, and will be honest and realistic with what she can SAFELY do to your hair, and it always results in you feeling like a beautiful new person. I came to see her for the first time and said the dreaded words "black permanent box hair dye", thinking that I could potentially leave Khloe K blonde....she reset my expectations and educated me about the risks to doing that so quickly, considering what my hair had already been through. I've been seeing Hailey for over 10 years, and I'm so lucky to have her beautiful self create dimension in my lion mane of hair. Simply put, she is an amazing stylist who never disappoints, and I look forward to our visits every six weeks or so. She is extremely talented and meticulous, and I never go without a compliment from someone once I've seen her. I love her input and advice because she knows what she is doing, and in turn, I always love the end result. I've been doing hair painting/balayage/highlights for a while now, and I couldn't be happier. Price is worth every penny.
