I had been going to Alex for about six years and was very disappointed with my most recent haircut. I showed Alex a photo of the style I wanted as a reminder of what he'd done every visit prior...straight across the back for my fine hair. Midway through the cut, he started using thinning scissors. I asked, "what are you doing, Alex?" since I don't allow thinning shears used on my hair because I have fine hair and did not want that done. He responded, "just let me work," and continued while other clients were waiting for him, so I did not escalate the situation. The result was a heavily thinned out in the back that did not match what I requested or the photo I showed. I later asked for a partial refund, but Alex just said "Sorry, next time show me a picture." I replied that I had shown him a picture. Please see the attached photos...the first is what I showed Alex and asked for and the second is what he chose to do. Alex is a talented stylist, but based on this experience I will not be returning. The haircut I received may be the best haircut I've ever had. Not only did Alex trim my hair but he shaped my hair to accentuate my face. The man is a true artist. Oh my gosh. Five stars? That's just for places on yelp that are great. Alex's Salon deserves six stars because what he can do to someone's hair is beyond extraordinary! I went in with my old dry hair that had been destroyed by a very bad stylist it was fried frizzled. It basically looked like I had stuck my finger in a light socket, and it was just hideous. Albert Einstein's hair looked better than mine. Alex basically told me to sit back and be quiet and let him work his magic and work his magic he did. I wanted to have a certain color and not to have my hair cut and he basically just told me what I needed and when it was done, I just couldn't believe the transformation. My hair looks so silky and youthful, and somehow it looks longer than it did when I came in and he trimmed it a bit! He is worth every penny that he charges and probably a lot more. I had heard from people what a great job Alex did, but it's more than that. The word "great"does not describe it. I wish I had before and after pictures, but regardless the after pictures just show what a miracle he can do with hair. Every one of my friends gushed over my look and had to put their hands in my hair because it just looks that inviting and silky. Terrible highlight experience- took 45 minutes minutes to get a partial highlight and a blowout- just to look like I have tiger stripes in my hair. The lady blow dryed my hair with the highlights in the speed up the process. Alex didn't do my hair but he was extremely rude as well. I went to Alex and found he is very good and highly recommend him. He has a very unique and different approach to doing Hair and he's very quick at what he does but he was great at listening to my concerns when I wanted him to fine-tune my haircut a little more to my own personal standards as a hairdresser,. He was very patient and a great listener and didn't have an ego at all with me being very detail oriented about exactly how I wanted my haircut. He gave a great blowout to my hair and used a product that I have since bought for myself because it made my hair feel amazing. I would give Alex's Salon 5 stars for quality work. The young lady hair stylist, is lovely and very talented. But I am baffled as to why I was charged $40 twice for a wash/cut/dry, then next time the owner instructed her to charge $80 for the same thing then two months later $95. The hair cut took about 20 minutes and my hair is short. The website states wash/cut/dry is $85. $95 is just too expensive for a simple cut. Sadly I won't be going back. read more

I bought a Groupon to get a Brazil Blowout. I got exactly what I was looking for and more. Funny thing, was I checked out the sight after I bought the Groupon and found it is a special Alex runs, for $99 Brazilian Blowout on his website. So either way you know your getting a deal and will be, trust me when I say very taken care of and in good artistic hands. I was running 5 minutes late and called to update them of my untimely arrival and was greeted with a Alex the owner stating to me, "do not rush, take your time and be safe." From there on it just got better... Alex takes his time, he talks to get to know you and will not push anything on you, that you don or want. I received my Brazilian Treatment and thought I was done as I have had in the past. Now I know in the past I was ripped off a bit, because Alex took the time to put a Brazilian Treatment Mask on my hair, after he processed the Brazilian Blowout Treatment, blow dried and flat ironed my hair. Usually in the past after the Brazilian Treatment was on my hair with the same process as mentioned above is done the stylist is done too, but with Alex. He will got he extra mile to ensure your are processed properly and all within 2 hours, which if a Brazilian Treatment is done right that is exactly how long it should take. Not 45mins like I have also had in the past. To say the least but with great emphasis on how beautiful, strong, healthy, shiny, under control (with a little added volume, to boot) due to the Brazilian System that Alex uses. I even got to take home the Pure 100% Brazilian/Keratin shampoo, conditioner and once a week deep conditioning treatment. I too made a friend with Alex. Meeting him was very nice and he is a good communicator. He again, is patient and will take his time and make sure your taken care, and that your hair is taken care of even after you leave. He will give you tips on how to keep up the Brazilian treatment and make it last 3-4months longer then the norm 12 weeks, and of course being careful of coloring as it will strip it out!!
