I came to this event for Sip & Swap, where you bring your own plant and swap it with others. I loved the idea and had never been to North Park Nursery before, so I was excited to visit for the first time. The space itself is huge, with plants everywhere, from the left side to the back to the right side. They also have stickers, cards, and all sorts of plant-related items. All the plants looked really healthy, and there's a wide variety to choose from. The event even had drinks, like an agave drink, which was free. The vibe was great, and there's outdoor seating where you can relax and admire the plants. Prices range from about $20 to $70, depending on the type and size of the plant. I especially loved the section in the back called "plants that need extra love." These plants are 50% off, perfect if you want to rejuvenate a slightly struggling plant, and they even come with a vase, so you can care for it on your own schedule. They also have pet-friendly plants, which is great if you have dogs, cats, or other animals at home. Overall, I really loved this place. If you're a plant person, I would definitely stop by if you're in the North Park area.

They picked plants that did not thrive without thought to sunlight and temperature. After this issue was brought up to the owners wife, she did not rectify that situation and wanted me to pay for the arrangement again, that is very unfortunate since I like to support small family businesses. I had also used them for yard maintenance which they did halfheartedly, just blowing leaves and debris and doing the least they can. So after giving them a chance and talking to the landscapers/gardeners and not seeing any improvement of their work, I decided to find new gardeners.

Our instructor, Aurora, did a quick demo and then we were left to create our pieces. We had 3 balls of clay (give or take a half pound each ball) to work with and you get one free piece firing included with the class, and additional pieces to fire are $10 each. It's pretty autonomous but if you need help the instructor is there to assist you. After you create your pieces, you pick a glaze and then clean up the work station. The class is 90 minutes and it goes by quick, time flies when you're having fun!! ---- Overall: had a fantastic time creating pieces that will hopefully be functional ware, a great date idea, I can't wait to be back and try out their open studio times

Our class was on a really nice day, and for a super reasonable price, we got 1.5 hours on the wheel, which felt like the perfect amount of time. The wheel throwing class is either indoors (behind the plant shop) or in the back (half exposed garage). We were in the back and it was a good amount of space for our group of 4 people. There were more couples next to us as well. Also, I loved that they allow you to bring outside drinks to enjoy while creating, making it a fun and relaxed experience. Our instructor was great--attentive when needed but also gave space to explore at your own pace. This wasn't our friend time on the wheel, but we were with friends who were new to wheel-throwing, so he assisted when needed. I can't wait to see our finished ceramic pieces! Whether you're a plant lover, an aspiring ceramicist, or just looking for a unique experience, Botanica is definitely worth checking out. After your session, it's a good excuse to explore the streets of OB - especially on a very sunny day. I'll definitely come back another time.

I usually buy soil for my plants, but this last visit I needed some wood chips for my orchid, and when I asked if the bag that I saw came in a smaller size, they had a little bit left in a bag and they gave it to me!! I only needed like a handful for my single orchid and that just made my day! I then needed some soil for my indoor succulents and they were helpful helping me pick something out. I was convinced these delectable fruits would remain a treasured memory, until I found Organic Wild. It's a super small, family nursery; literally they have filled every inch of their home with exotic plants. Every. Single. Inch. Unlike the other local big-time nurseries where you are under threat of a serious hand-slapping if you so much as touch these plants, here you are encouraged to smell and touch. They bring out samples so you can even try them (leading us to literally double our initial spending budget)! The most charming part is how you can tell you are dealing with people of passion vs money-driven corporations is how they dislike wasting seeds. Many of our plants we purchased had some volunteer seedling. By this means, we added everything from a baby macadamia tree to mystery seedlings that we eagerly await to identify. We can't wait to go back. We are now permanent customers!
