I was coming back from Battle Creek VA after a visit with the optometrist there and decided to stop at the Hiemstra store in Kalamazoo on my way home. I ordered a pair of glasses with no issues, but I requested that their store send my glasses to the Paw Paw Hiemstra location as it is closer to where I live. I was assured they would do that. About a week later, I received a call from the Kalamazoo location letting me know they were in at their store. Again, I requested that they be sent to the Paw Paw location. A few days later the Paw Paw location let me know the glasses were in. The next morning I arrived at the Paw Paw location and checked in to get them and then was asked to take a seat...and there I sat forever. I watched as the store staff seemed to be channeling the DMV. They farted around, talked, drank coffee, and seemed to do everything but help customers waiting. There was one person on staff helping a customer, while the other two optical staff seemed to have more important things to do. They finally got around to me, and I got out of there, breathing a sigh of relief as one might after a visit to the DMV. Do better Hiemstra!

I purchased a pair if Oakley prescription sunglasses from Rx Optical/MyEyeDr. on 4/30/26. On…read more6/30/26 I cleaned the lenses with a standard lens cleaner. As always there was over spray onto the frames. The next morning when I picked up the glasses from my desk they fell apart (top right portion of frame). On 6/30/26 I returned to Rx asking for a possible explanation as to why this happened. Their clerk was confused stating "this is something not expected of Oakley products". I pointed out to her that I am the guy who never abuses his tools or stuff. I wore the glasses properly and cared for them properly. There was no logical reason for them to fall apart. The Rx manager suggested I should have purchased their $30 protection plan. I had to purchase a new pair of frames. On a whim I took the broken frames home and glued them back together and then sprayed lens cleaner on them over the course of two weeks. Sure enough not only did they fall apart at the original break, but also at the axis where the stem connects to the main frame body. Can I prove they sold me a pair of glue repaired frames no I cannot. Will I ever return to Rx Optical no I will not. I am forwarding a copy of this review to Oakley glasses. Tim E

Once I finally confirmed the glasses were at the location, picking them up became another issue because the hours of operation are inconsistent. I work during the week, and having different opening times almost every day makes the process more frustrating than it needs to be.
