The not-so-good: She recommended a specific over-the-counter dry eye product that she also sells from among a whole line of OTC eye products in her office. They're expensive. I don't care for upselling like this in a medical professional's office. Some dermatologists do this too. That should not be. It presents a conflict of interest. Peddling optional products in a shoestore, beauty salon or car repair shop is no big deal because those provide things that have little to do with health and safety. Eye health (and dermatology) are different. I don't like my medical professionals to get commissions by recommending certain (pricey) products over others...that they just "happen" to sell in their offices. I bought a similar product at Walgreens for a fraction of the cost.

After I checked in at the front desk I was seen immediately by Mark, the doctor's assistant. He took down information, assessed my problem, and dilated my eye. Dr Hicknor came in shortly and did the eye exam. He explained that I had a posterior vitreous detachment, but no damage to the retina. This is what was causing my eye floaters. Luckily got me no treatment is required. Will be seen for a follow up exam. I highly recommend this ophthalmologist

Only hope what he said was correct. No confidence in this practice.

I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes (the Covid-19 pandemic was beginning to spread). Everything was closing, including the surgery center in Portage. I was the last patient for more than 2 months. That meant my second eye surgery was cancelled. However, I was able to contact them if I needed to and get answers to any questions during that time. Dr. Joseph Doe had done my husband's cataract surgery and he has been very happy with the results. When the surgery center reopened, I was contacted immediately for my second cataract surgery. I am now on my third day after surgery. I have been back to be checked to make sure everything is healing properly. I am THRILLED with my 20/20 vision! Only inexpensive reading glasses required! Dr. Joseph Doe is friendly, kind, and reassuring as is everyone in that office! I'm 79 years old. I have NEVER SEEN BETTER IN MY LIFE! I highly recommend these folks.

I ended up being scammed by Richland eye care, scammed out of a whopping $300. I ordered a year…read moresupply of contacts through Richland eye care. The total was over $1,000. The reason I purchased a yearly supply was because of the $400 rebate from acuvue Kat informed me of. Saying it was a pretty incredible rebate. $400 rebate? Why wouldn't I purchase the year supply? Kat (along with another employee) told me all I had to do was go to the acuvue website follow the reward instructions and make sure I input a NEW email address. I did that. It did not give me a $400 rebate only a $100 rebate. Kat left me a voicemail saying "Jenny we talked about this, you must've forgotten, make sure you're using a work email or different email." I don't even have a work email because I'm a stay-at-home mom (hence why the $300 loss is a hard one.) I called kat back to inform her it's not an email address I needed, then they gave me two codes to input on the acuvue rewards website. I submitted all the necessary info. Still, a $100 rebate. Even if you use a new email- acuvue still has your information. You make a new profile with a new email address, you still have to input your first name and your last name your mailing address and your date of birth, using a new email doesn't do anything. So instead of getting the $400 rebate I was assured of receiving multiple times. I lost $300 and am only receiving $100. Not a single employee ever knows what's going on there and will steer you in any direction to get your money. Go elsewhere, learn from my loss!
