They have tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground, plenty of picnic benches and seating around the park, a pool, and they have public restrooms. We enjoy walking around the park, watching the animals in the pond, and exploring the rose garden. There's a lot of green space which allows my dog the perfect opportunity to sniff around when he's tired of walking on the paths. I like that there's easy parking here, plenty of shade, and a large space to explore so we can enjoy a quick walk or a longer adventure.

Interestingly, the Sacramento Street Railway Company built the park in 1871 to attract people to take its trains. Then the park became a recreational area around the train line and continued to serve as a gathering spot for the residents in this neighborhood and the greater Sacramento community. Recently, we visited again to hang out with friends who wanted to meet up and have our kids play together and get out their wiggles while we chat and catch up. After the kids played for some time at the (new to us) playground, we walked over to enjoy the pond and to take a walk over to the Rose Garden. There's a path that surrounds the pond so you can get exercise with a view. We saw a lot of ducks and geese that day. Please don't feed them. They were friendly and very used to humans. After hanging out w/said friends of the fowl flavor for a few minutes, we walked towards the Rose Garden to enjoy the beauty of the roses and to people watch as they get their pictures taken and to hang out some more. Overall, I enjoyed visiting McKinley Park again, I really should come down here more often as it's a pretty great park, so big it takes up a whole city block and there's just so much nicely landscaped grounds, plant life, wildlife. It also offers a bunch of facilities to include a community pool, basketball court, a community center, picnic areas w/tables, several sports fields, plus tennis and volleyball courts. This was such a good deal compared to regular pricing. Regular pricing is so hight, even if you buy it from the A's themselves. We couldn't afford to go to many games if we play regular price. This was our 2nd game this year. We went to one of the first ones for the season and it was very cold and we totally bundled up to watch the game. I wore my fluffy jacket and had my hood pulled up. That was a really fun game. I belive that won that game. We also got a picture with Stomper. It's a fun picture as we're all bundled up. If you know me you I know I love selfie shots. They had one this tiem. Soon as you walk in after you checked in, got your sway in the middle of the busy through fair staff were right there assisting you in capturing the moment. They had a picture frame specific for this specific game. The gals working the picture frame gave us the frame and offered to take our picture. It was perfect. We look so cute together showing off our A's T-Shirts. Happy Hour was a flop. Soon as we took our pic we hurried over to the beer garden and got in line. They cut off the happy hour pricing 4 people in-front of us. We wasted all that time in line when we could have gotten our seats and had the over priced beer brought to us in a cold can. We've learned our lesson. Getting inline early doesn't ensure you will make the happy hour pricing. You really need to get here when the gates open to ensure you get the deal. Sadly we only got here 30 minutes before the game. We thought we were early enough, but apparently not. They lost big time. The nationals got 34 and we only got 4. We lost by a landslide. It was a really disappointing game. People were leaving in droves as time when on. No Fireworks?! When they have the RiverCats games they have them every Friday and Saturday or least that's what we though. Thus we assumed they would have fireworks. Last night. Boy were we disappointed as we stayed till the end of the game just to see the fireworks. Next time we'll ask as staff member so we are prepared. Chilly- It was 90 when we arrived and got to 50/60 when we left. I'm glad we wore long pants and brought a sweater. I wasn't as cold as I could have been if I were unprepared, but I wished I had brought my hoodie to be a bit warmer. Bathrooms- Unlike when we went to the SF Giants last month there were plenty of stalls here and there wasn't a wait. I am thankful for their bathroom set up. It's a breeze going in and out. Food- I went to the official park's vendor, not an outsourced vendor. My husband sent me for a hotdog. They only had once size at this location. A Stomper dog was $14. We saw later that other people got a smaller size, he would have been happy with the smaller dog. The good news that this dog was big enough to share. Though he drowned it in mustard, relish, and catchup. They didn't offer onions so he didn't smother the dogs with that. This wasn't my choice of toppings, but I was hungry a little so I gad some. The beer/happy hours experience was a disappointment, them losing the game was a disappointment, it was chilly out, the hotdog was overpriced. Without that said we're glad we got out. We'll be back next week for. RiverCats game. Hopefully that one will be better.

Wow ! It's been over 50 years since I last played baseball here on Nick Culjis Baseball Field ! Boy…read moredoes time fly ! I don't recall if the field had an name back then. All I remember that this was one of three baseball fields in William Land Park. After all these year the baseball field hasn't changed a bit, and I still can't hit the darn ball ! In 1983 , #2 Diamond was renamed Nick Culjis Sr. Baseball Field . Honoring Mr. Culjis for his involvement in local baseball and for his contributions to the City of Sacramento. Enjoy ! Batter's Up !

I love walking through this park. It's surrounded by the local neighborhood and is always bustling…read morewith activity. From walkers and runners, to kids on the playground and people taking advantage of the green areas. I love that there are so many trees in the area, so even when the sun is out there's a good amount of shade. The park has a playground, tennis courts, baseball field, basketball court, and so much green space. On our latest visit a stroll through the park was just part of our adventure, since it's walking distance from some great local businesses. We were able to get some fun outdoor time, enjoy some coffee, and do some shopping.

I have now traded running for working out in the gym, but will try to get back into running for more cardio. The last time I ran here was July of 2025. I try to do at least 1 mile Everytime I'm here. I ran here today and not much has changed-which is good. I was still able to complete my usual route, but it is always hard to get back into running after more than half a year of non running. This park is great for tracking without any tools or apps. One whole lap around the park is just over a mile. Lots of locals walk/run around the park. There's also one basketball court, 2 tennis courts, 1 baseball field and lots of grass areas for groups to play sports. I've seen flag football, soccer, rugby, little league and just people doing sprints and back and Forth. There's also a playground for kids to enjoy, which I've seen in use Everytime I come here. Overall, a good park with lots of activity and generally safe. I can't wait to come back more when the weather warms up.

Located directly on C St. and in between 21st & 22nd St's in the New Era Park neighborhood of Sacramento, this has been one of my favorite quiet parks in the area. On any given day, even on beautiful weekend days where the temperature is cooperative, this has always been a sleepy park. At times you will find kids playing soccer, softball/baseball, or other sporting activities. And then you will also get the typical families picnicking, sunbathing, and sometimes even barbecuing. But it has never been super busy like what you'd see at Fremont Park or Southside Park. The grassy area is green year-round (for the most part) and has enough space for people to play with their dogs. You will find a picnic area with three tables and most of the time, these tables are usually always available. For the kids and toddlers, there is a fenced-in tot lot with a small sand area. And additionally, you will find multiple trash bins available. Unfortunately, after the city faced budget cuts with several public parks back in the early 2010's, both the mens & womens restrooms have been closed. So if you need to go, you're pretty much out of luck. Now one thing that might deter people from coming here is that you will sometimes get questionable-looking people around here. Meaning that from time to time, there are vagrants and homeless people that sometimes sleep in or around the park. I have personally never had an issue and their presence has never made me feel uncomfortable visiting this park. And I have to respect that they are human beings just like you or I. Overall, Grant Park is a nice little park in a very quiet area of north Midtown Sacramento. Additionally, its close to the entrance of the American River Bike Trail and only a few blocks away from the Blue Diamond Almond Factory. Parking is easily accessible on any given day and its a place I enjoy to spend my lazy spring & summer days.
