Fish and Chips on Friday was excellent! Friendly fast service and cold PBR! Would like to get back here when I'm in town.

A nice medley of different greens plus cucumbers, cherry tomatoes etc. We finished up splitting a large espresso-cinnamon crème Brûlée. Our server, Connor was friendly snd attentive. This is a large bar-restaurant. Our service was prompt. However, I'm sure during busy times waiting a slower service might be expected considering the tough time for business owners to find help. The food and atmosphere would be worth the wait. If you don't have the time to relish this place, there are fast food restaurants near by.

As we were walking to our table, the smell of customers plates came at us and it caused my stomach to grumble and my mouth to water as I anticipated what was to come. I ordered the braised pork poutine as I've never met a bad potato. I was NOT disappointed. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The braised pork and gravy was lip-smacking, finger-licking good. I only wished I had a larger stomach so I could've eaten more. Hubby ordered fish fry and substituted his fries for rings. Both were fried perfectly. Slaw was more savory than sweet. Where the service was sorely lacking was with server communication. She checked on us frequently but every time we said thank you, she didn't respond. How difficult is it to say "you're welcome" or "my pleasure"? Maybe we're both just used to Texans where everyone is over-the-top kind. I worked in F&B for almost 10 years...you always acknowledge your customers, good or bad. We'll definitely return but how nice it would be to be acknowledged next time. After all, we're giving you our hard-earned money for not only food but also a pleasant experience.

We got the shrimp skewers and citrus mussels with the curry sauce to die for! We kept slurping up the sauce after the bread was gone! The garlic mayo complemented the shrimp perfectly. Overall verdict - highly recommend it for causal dining, happy hour or a special meal. Way to support local farms and businesses. Love the outdoor seating which is great in the summer!

Unfortunately our dinner experience was not good. We spent almost three hours at dinner waiting for missed drinks and missed food! Management please work with your servers. Educate them on the meals that are offered. Not knowing what is in a dish is ridiculous. Not telling us about the Friday fish fry (we found out after dinner). When a burger got missed on our order because of the server, have the kitchen rush on a burger instead of one person in our party of eight waiting 45 minutes for their burger while we all ate. Such a shame because our food was good. We just did not plan on sitting there for almost three hours! We wanted to have an after drink outside but it was too late. I worry for this place.

My favorite were the cheese curds because coating was crispy and well seasoned, and the Brussels sprouts because they were well seasoned and crunchy. I would definitely recommend PJ's and order from here again.

The enjoy in quotations is because what would have been a five star experience was knocked down due to the chips and salsa. The salsa was blah but still bordered on overly sweet, and the chips were funky. I mean they were so funkadelic that they tainted our enjoyment of the cheese sauce, and by all that is holy in the Cheesehead state, you don't detract from cheesy deliciousness with sketchy chips. So Mexico Grill & Bar, fix that flaw. Now, I had the Azteca Special and my husband went with the Burrito Fiesta. Both had the right perfection of flavor and were decimated: no to-go boxes needed. My husband also had fried ice cream for dessert. It's been years since he's had a proper fried ice cream that's actually deep fried that he almost cried with delight when they brought it to him. He devoured it in no time.

Chips and salsa were warm and just needed a good sprinkling of salt. I had the California special which included grilled chicken and shrimp with LOTS of veggies (carrots, squash, broccoli, mushrooms, and onions) in a cheese sauce and rice. The chicken and shrimp were beautifully seasoned and tender, not overcooked and dry. The salad was crisp with more fresh crunchy veggies and a nice sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Hubby had a steak and cheese quesadilla. Lots of cheese (see photo of cheese pull) and savory fajita steak. Service was thoughtful and had frequent checks for more water or any need we may have had. Atmosphere was friendly with lots of customers. We didn't have a wait even though we got there around noon. We will definitely return and plan on trying more options.
