Passed by this place sooo many times, looking for a great deck view. I am a Mainer and come to Belfast often. The 'family' restaurant threw me. Took a chance and stopped by on a beautiful Thursday. Holy cow! I was missing out. Such a wonderful view of the harbor from the deck. I got the dill haddock sandwich. I cannot stop saying "yum". Haddock cooked perfect, flaky, not heavy kept licking my fingers. I am not a fries person, but goodness, great crisp, fresh and had to nibble. My mom had chowder. She is from GA and absolutely loved it What a lovely, unexpected time. Can't beat owner/chef stopping by to make sure everything was ok As well as, passed through bar area. Not dark, dank or loud. Great friendly vibe with bar help attentive. Want to go back Can't say this enough. Was such a great unexpected surprise. Thank you from a long term Mainer. I will be bringing guests back. read more

Food is just okay, mostly fried. I waited over 30 minutes for a fried seafood basket. They were not even that busy. The waitress was friendly but never came to check up. The manager was useless and more interested in smoozing with the few bar patrons. I gave them a few chances but they are overpriced for just meh food and service. read more

I recently tried this place and will definitely return. I had read reviews which said the manager was useless and the food was meh. My experience was different. I did see the manager near the bar and took note that his physique was probably from staying at the bar too long. My waitress was amazing! When I ordered my food I discovered what else made the manager a plump, jolly fella. The food was excellent! I would also gain weight if I were there all day every day! The portions were just right! I did speak with the manager, he was very kind and nice simple man. I recommend! read more

My wife and I made a one day stop in Rockport Maine and decided to visit Belfast because it was recommended by the staff at our hotel. We weren't sure where to dine so walked around Belfast checking out shops and restaurants menus. We decided on Dockside and were delighted with the service and food. I had the pan seared sea scallops with Brussel sprouts and house salad. My wife had the Blackened Salmon Caesar salad. We were both exceptionally delighted with the quality and quantity of our food. Our waitress, Kate B, was one of the best servers we've ever had at a sit down restaurant. Suffice to say we thought Dockside had great service, great food, great atmosphere, at a great value, and we will dine there again when visiting Belfast Maine. read more

A few years ago, we had a really bad experience at Dockside - so we stopped coming for almost 4 years or so. Fastforward to 2024, and we decided to give the place another chance. Their menu has shrunk, but the food they have is delicious. Their scallop alfredo is amazing, and this is what I usually get there. Whoever cooks their food is really good at cooking seafood and burgers - they're perfect every time. Cheyenne (I believe that's her name), is an amazing person, and the restaurant is covered in beautiful paintings that we were told were painted by the owner. Glad we went back, its been our haunt now every other day to eat. If you want a place to settle for awhile, look out at the bay, and have good food and conversation, Dockside is where I'd recommend. read more

Food: Best wings in town if you like then hot. We get them breaded, nine in, with gators own hot sauce. They are super addictive. The blue cheese dressing is also some of the best in town. Outstanding service by Megan, a nice restaurant with beautiful views and pet friendly. The fries were to die for, we ask them to make them crispy and we loved them. I had the chicken salad with cranberries and it was delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant for lunch. Great service, lobster roll was good and onion rings were amazing ($24), love reubens and had the Haddock Reuben for a change of pace- was light and crispy and coleslaw is very tasty. We debated between here and another popular local place but heard their service wasnt that great. Service here was attentive and friendly. We chose wisely. read more

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. My husband and our two young teenage children dined here for lunch and everything we ate was absolutely fantastic. The fried shrimp, calamari and clam strips were the best (by far) that I ever had. The house made salad dressing was to die for (creamy garlic dill) and the fries were extra crispy and just perfect. All four of us left the happiest I think we've ever left a dining establishment. I don't normally write reviews but my daughter said that I "absolutely have to tell everyone how great their food is." We can't wait to go back and will be suggesting Dockside to anyone who will listen! read more

One waitress wore a tshirt that said something like, warm beer, poor service, bad food but great view. We didn't try the beer but all else was pretty spot on. Maybe when I saw a patron leaving the restaurant who had no teeth that should have been a clue to turn around and walk out! Our hostess actually was an anomaly--friendly and accommodating. She wanted us to know that if we chose outside seating and it rained, she couldn't promise we could sit inside. Luckily the sun persisted and we stayed outside. Probably 20+ minutes till our waitress "V" came to take our drink orders and then later lunch. Overall at least 50 minutes from sit down to lunch. Lobster rolls were rated as average/poor, medium burger was well done and missing one ingredient. Stew and salad were served 40 minutes apart. We left cash as we didn't want to wait for the roundtrip credit card experience. All of us were wishing we had chosen the lobster pound just outside of downtown! Where do I start, when we walked in I asked if there was a gluten free menu, the hostess stated all waitresses know about the gluten free options. We sat out on the deck looking at the Ocean is quite beautiful. When the waitress delivered the menu she told me that they did have gluten free buns from Panera Bread, which is amazing because I didn't know they made make those. I asked for a hard cider, what she brought me the beer I thought it looked a bit funny when I took a sip I knew it was not hard cider. So thank you I'm going to be sick for a week I don't blame the waitress I blame the bartender. This was pretty good! I was skeptical after reading reviews but pleasantly surprised. We sat outside. The steamers were traditional, broth and butter separately no seasoning, no grit in the necks, my husband had an open faced crab melt he classified as "very good". We felt this was totally fine for a leisurely afternoon lunch. There weren't enough servers for sure (this leisurely), and they were incredibly busy, but the good food made up for it. read more

RANCID FOOD! We had enjoyed fresh, plump mussels at nautilus ( fabulous place using locally sourced ingredients) earlier r in the week so I decided to order them at dockside. The mussels stank when the waitress deposited them and tasted beyond fishy. I won't go into all the details, but the waitress was unbelievably rude . We were a party of one AA woman and 3 white women. The waitress dropped the creamers on the floor & then handed them to the AA patron and refused to change her side order from the vegetable to a side salad. REALLY? When I handed the plate of mussels back I told the waitress how sick that food could make someone- especially someone with a compromised immune system. She really didn't care and told us that the "chef" had said that the mussels were fresh as they had come in on Saturday . We were being served them Tuesday nite. Never again. read more

Took my buddy here for his first lobster roll and it was terrible. Not the worst, but not very good; small, lifeless, origin and time plucked from the nearby ocean difficult to determine, and the waitstaff, while friendly, didn't get the order right (no mayo!). I hate being negative about nice people but stay away Yelpers! Go back south on 1 and hit Red's Eats and have the best roll evah! read more

Very good restaurant in downtown Belfast. Excellent service and great food. We had a bunch of appetizers, fried mushrooms, cheese bread, and potato skins and they were all good. The cheesy bread was like a pizza with a bunch of cheese and herbs, no sauce, huge though. The skins were homemade and delicious. The mushrooms seemed hand breaded and perfect. The side salad was adequate, nothing special. The chicken wrap was very bland and lacking sauce. It was chicken tenders in a tortilla, could of used some sauce or spice in the wrap. Overall a great experience though. A little pricy, but the restaurant is right on main street in a touristy area, so what do you expect. read more

Not a pleasant experience on May 5th, 2019. Took entire family to get lobster rolls about 3 in the afternoon. Sat down and then we were told they didn't have lobster or crab. This was on a graduation weekend for Maine Maritime Academy. The food we did get was small portions and did not taste good. We will never go back. read more

I love it here. I've been coming here for over 20 years and it's still wonderful. The waitstaff are fantastic, many having worked there since I was a child. They all remember me when I come in despite the fact that I moved to Arizona three years ago and only come in once a year. This last visit I accidentally forgot my debit card. They looked me up on Facebook and sent me a message. Thank goodness since I was flying home the next day and driving to Portland that night. The food has always been wonderful, I highly recommend their calzones. The best thing they have to offer though is their house dressing which is a garlic and dill dressing. Trust me, order the salad with that dressing. You won't be disappointed. Finally the view. My favorite seating is on the deck overlooking the ocean. Absolutely beautiful. read more
