Fantastic place! We loved shopping in Duck, Nc. And we came across this in the little mini mall. We didn't feel like going out, so we picked up scallops, shrimp, and salmon. Called and ordered blue crabs as I was told they were #1 jimmies. We got home and the crabs were all super light and gray inside, not good at all and definitely not #1's. snow crab was good as were the steamed shrimp. read more

This is the best place to buy steamed shrimp from. I just got 2#s of jumbo shrimp, it was fantastic. I come here every time I come to Duck to get steamed shrimp at least once or twice. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Picked up dinner to take home...fantastic! Called ahead to order; friendly staff was great helping us figure out the right amount of food for our group. 45 min later we swung in to pick up our haul...dinner for 5, hot and ready to go at a very reasonable price. We ordered two types of crab, shrimp, hush puppies, and coleslaw. Everthing was great...the seafood was very fresh, the garlic herb butter was scrumptuous, and the hush puppies and cole slaw were a nice simple way to round out the meal. In late August Dockside sold us a bushel of EMPTY CRABS. When we got them home and dumped them on the table we noticed they were really light weight and when we got to picking them we realized that not a single crab out of dozens was full of meat. If they are in the seafood business they know that crabs that weigh next to nothing have no meat in them. Instead of pricing the crabs based on their quality, they knowingly sold us over $100 of worthless crabs. Very bad business - will never go back. read more

We stopped in and placed our order a couple days ago. Very nice displays and friendly staff. Called later and increased our order. We picked it up today. Again, very friendly staff, the order was all correct and ready as promised. Crabs, shrimp, clams and hush puppies. They even helped carry it to the car. Everytime I've been to Duck and Kitty Hawk, I've had the pleasure of experiencing food from Dockside. For starters, it is the CLEANEST seafood market I have ever gone into. It's so nice to walk in and not be bombarded by the smells of the ocean. Each time I've been able to choose from a wide variety of super fresh, impeccably clean, and extremely affordable seafood, among other options. Not only do they have great seafood, but they have delicious and homemade tomato pies, cream spinach, key lime pies, chocolate pies and tons of other options to go with your seafood feast. Yum, Yum!! The service is top notch, with kind and friendly people ready and willing to assist you in anyway they can. The owners and employees are knowledgeable about their products and can make recommendations to fit your hankering taste buds. I can't believe any negative comments about Dockside! I shop there at least once a week and have never had a bad experience! Everything is super fresh, beautifully displayed, and fairly priced. There's never even a fishy smell which further illustrates how fresh and clean everything is! In addition to their expansive fresh fish choices, they have a multitude of delicious family-recipe items including pies, salads, dips, spreads and more. Steamed shrimp was delicious, potato salad was pretty good but I wasn't impressed with the she crab soup. That might be because I am from Maryland but it wasn't something I'd get again. read more

We spent a week in Duck in late May and another in July. On each trip, we picked up dinner at Dockside several times. Reasonably priced shrimp and crabs, both were delicious. (Market price on our trip in July was $9 for a lb. of shrimp and $25 for a dozen crabs.) You can get sides, apps, and dessert too. We especially enjoyed the slaw and key lime pie. She crab soup, clam chowder and clam dip were all decent too, but the fresh shrimp and crabs are the best! read more

We purchased seafood three times while on a week long stay in the outerbanks over summer vacation. The first night we purchased gulf shrimp. The sales person spiced and steamed it for us for only a dollar. I have to say this is near the best shrimp that I have had. We also got a quart of the homemade shecrab soup --- loaded with crab meat and as a previous review stated a bit on the boozy side, but nonetheless delicious. The second night we order a fillet of locally caught mahi mahi that we pan fried with blackened seasoning, butter, and mango based on the suggestion of a salesperson. It was amazing. Very fresh, tasty, and perfect texture. The final night we purchased homemade oysters Rockefeller. Unfortunately we were disappointed. They used frozen spinach and the oysters were teeny-tiny. All in all this place is great. If we come back we will definitely purchase seafood from this nice little market, read more

Went in to buy dip and nted a bag of ice and was rudley told that they dont sell ice. Rhe woman was pretty rude and its silly because im there paying 12 dollars for two small dips and they cant give me a small bag of ice. read more

Got take out steamed blue crabs & shrimp, artichoke & crab dip, key lime pie for the 2nd year in a row. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious. Highly recommend and don't know how I will be able to wait another year to go back. read more

Previously frozen shrimp, not fresh...was told by one of the workers (appreciate the honesty though), tourist prices, bland hushpuppies (no seasoning, no onion, just balls of dough), and while the lady that rung me up at the counter was friendly the younger skinny guy had a freaking fit and was really rude to one of my friends that inquired about the seafood pots an hour before they closed. Next time a simple "we need two hours to make those" would suffice. If I hadn't already promised my friends back at the beach house seafood I would have put my $95 order back and walked out. There are plenty of other places in duck and kittyhawk to try I would not recommend this place and felt like my money was wasted. read more

So incredibly disappointed with the 2 dozen #1 crabs we got today. I specifically asked if they punched the crabs and was told no. All but 4 had punch holes in them. Of the two dozen, 12 were inedible, 6 with the meat total mush. Of the 8 that we ate, 2 were light but tasty. The rest we're just light. Consider spending your $60 else where...we will not visit again. read more
