The band was great. We didn't eat there as we had dinner beforehand at a close by restaurant. The drinks however, were TERRIBLE. There were four of us and each ordered a different type of cocktail. None of us finished our drinks. We didn't complain but for $18 to $20 a drink it was very disappointing. We most likely will return in the future to see another band and if the drinks aren't good, we will definitely send them back. Also, at some point during the night, my husband and the wife of the other couple stopped into the restrooms, both came back saying each greatly needed attention. read more

Thursday night (8-20-2026) was our first time to visit Doc's Houston Jazz club. The band, "We Want The Funk," was fantastic, made up of some of Houston's finest musicians. After reading the reviews for Doc's online (on Yelp, etc.) and seeing poor reviews of the food there (and also some reviews complaining about the service), we weren't expecting the food or the service to be very good, but we ordered dinner there anyway, and we were very glad that we did, because the food was EXCELLENT, some of the best food you'll find anywhere. And the desserts (which we both ordered) were equally outstanding. Our waitress told us that Doc's had recently gotten a new chef (who is obviously much better than the old chef who had been there.) This explains why our food experience was the opposite of some of the older reviews that we had seen online. And, the service was also the best you will find anywhere. Our waitress was very attentive, and checked on us often to make sure that we didn't need anything else. Staff members also made sure to keep our water glasses filled throughout the whole night, which we really appreciated. The service was outstanding, even though the show was sold out, with a full audience in attendance that night. The ambience of the club is also very nice. It's like going to an upscale, vintage jazz club. It's a great place to take a date that you want to make a good impression on, or to go out to celebrate a special occasion. But it is also is a nice place to go for a casual night out when you want to hear some great entertainment. We will definitely be back, and have decided that we will be going to Doc's regularly, looking forward again to great entertainment and excellent food and service. Doc's regularly features great jazz by the finest musicians in Houston, but also some of the best regional, national, and international musicians perform there as well. They also have some other types of music from time-to-time, usually jazz-adjacent genres (like the funk band that we heard there), so there are music acts doing shows at Doc's that will appeal to everybody. We visited Doc's Jazz Club for date night to celebrate our two year anniversary and it was a decent experience. The ambiance was amazing. I loved the low amber lighting and the way they had the seats arranged around the stage. There was still plenty of room for guests and staff to move around, and I appreciated that they weren't cramming customers into tables. I just love the fact that they allowed you to buy a table for two people and two people only. The service was excellent. Our servers were polite, humorous, and consistently checked on us throughout the night. Our water glasses never got empty, and they really did a great job staying on top of everything. The entertainment was great. We enjoyed the singing, tap dancing, and live music, especially the saxophonist. For drinks we ordered the Peach Serenade and Painkiller, and both drinks were just okay. We also had two dessert drinks at the end of the night. Unfortunately, the food was where the experience fell short. For appetizers we had the Short Rib Empanadas, which was basically a dry and flaky pastry crust with tasteless dry short rib inside. Based on the appetizer, we decided to share an entrée rather than order multiple dishes. We ordered the Baked Half Chicken, which came out extremely cold. It was also bland and dry. The chicken thigh had the texture of white meat instead of dark meat it was so cold and dry. It was served over green goddess sauce with a large amount of garnish piled on top. For sides, we tried the Bacon-Fat Brussels Sprouts, which tasted overwhelmingly like lemon, lemon, lemon, and more lemon. The Doc's Mac & Cheese, which was just a fancy pasta with cheese sauce and breadcrumbs. The Corn & Cream was easily the best thing I ate besides it just being regular cream corn. We also had the Grilled Broccolini that had the smell and taste of being charred, but was raw in texture when eating it. Before going to Doc's I saw a few negative reviews about the food, but I'm always willing to try a place for myself and form my own opinion. Unfortunately, our food experience confirmed some of those concerns. If you're looking for a nice date night spot with live entertainment, Doc's is worth checking out. I came on a Saturday evening. My date picked the seating time/band and I wasn't a fan but tried it to let that sway my review too much. Overall, it wasn't what I was expecting for a jazz club. It's more of a dinner with a performance. Our table was upstairs. We checked in and were shown to our table which had a stack of silver ware and napkins on it like they were still setting up. We confirmed if this was our table and they stated the table number as if we were to know what table they were supposed to place us. After looking confused for a while a waiter came and took the silverware and napkins so we sat. However, our table wasn't set. No napkins, silverware glasses. It took about 15 minutes for this to be rectified. Our waitress apologized and said she'd asked for no one to be seated in her section yet due to this. Anyway, service continued to be slow throughout the night. Our food came before our first round of drinks. I ordered a polenta mushroom dish and when I say it was BLAND. My water had more flavor. I mentioned this to the waitress who offered salt and pepper but I instead sent it back and got a Cesar salad with shrimp. Still not good but whatever. My date for the burger which was nothing special. The drinks were good. The bathroom was nice and clean. They have a small separate bar lounge upstairs which was nice. We were offered to stay for the next show and even move downstairs but we'd had our fill. I love an evening that calls for a dress code. My husband surprised me with a date night at Doc's and it was a great experience. Last night's feature came all the way from South Africa and he could play. The way his fingers moved across the piano keys was hypnotizing. Loved the way he got the crowd engaged. I was impressed with the band that played well considering they had an hour to rehearse and learn the routine. The food kept its end of the bargain. I started with the shrimp dijon and my husband had the mediterranean salad for an appetizer. For our entrees, he ordered the NY Steak with mashed potatoes as a side, and I had the catch of the day which was halibut and lump crab with golden potatoes and cauliflower. We enjoyed the entrees better than the appetizers. The shrimp dijon is a favorite but it was just okay to me. I wanted a sexy, non-alcoholic drink so it took the bar manager to step in and create something of his own. I felt considered, it was kind of him. He personally delivered it to my table and told me what he put in it. I could tell he took pride in his creation. I don't remember the ingredients but it was good. Paired well with my meal. The music, the room where Ella Fitzgerald once recorded a live album, the food, my date, a man behind the bar who took a request as a personal invitation, made this a night to remember. read more

So I have been twice, and doubt I will be back. Parking- you can valet in there lot $10 to $20. But they have a lot across the street that's free during the week. Unfortunately they charge for the same free lot on the weekends. Which is wack. Feels like a $$ grab. You can try your luck at finding street parking. This is a new and popping area. Lots of new businesses other there, including bar Eleven Eleven next door. Came here for the first time with friends for there Disney night, and second time for there R&B night with singer Prodigy. Lots of folks on dates, and some groups. Service- Both times service was lacking. Servers barely checking on us. Noticed they were giving extra attention to large parties. And even tables that sat down after us, got there drinks before they even took our orders. Then they tried to charge us 20% gratuity for a party of 4 when there menu said they charge for party of 6 or greater. We saw online that the give complimentary house chips to there guests, but when we asked they said they don't do that anymore because the chips come from Spain and it got too expensive. The Disney night we went the power went out, and they just did the show with no mics and there back up generators. They didn't even offer compensation for the lack of full experience. But to be fair when we brought it up with the manager. They agreed to allow us to come back on the house. So I appreciate them attempting to rectify the situation, after we asked. Drinks- the first time I got the El Diablo, I think $18. I got the peach serenade the second time $20. Both drinks were ok. The place itself is intimate, tables on two levels facing the stage. And the both jazz bands were nice enough. But the service will prevent me from returning. But try it out, maybe you will have a better experience. read more

A time was had!! To start the venue is very nice spacious and welcoming. It is two stories with a upstairs bar. We went on the 40/50s jazz night with the owner Doc Watkins. He is AMAZING!! An extremely talented musician, charismatic, entertaining and very very well versed on the history of jazz. The whole performance was great from start to finish. The drinks wonderful. And the standard overpriced $18-$20. The food was just okay. The Ceasars salad was good but not $18 good. Thee fries were excellent! The pizza and burratta just okay. I have only been to a jazz club once before, and that experience was fantastic. This visit was definitely memorable too, though for both good and bad reasons. From the moment you walk in, this place gives off a true old school Harlem Nights vibe. It instantly feels like stepping back in time. The atmosphere, decor, lighting, and overall energy create a classic jazz lounge experience that feels authentic and stylish without trying too hard. We purchased tickets online for the 6 PM show featuring David Caceres Orchestra with Kamil Bonner performing a one night tribute to Sarah Vaughan and Nina Simone. Tickets came out to about $100 total for the two of us. I will admit, that felt a little pricey considering it was essentially admission only and did not include dinner or gratuity. When we first arrived, our table was not quite ready, so they had us sit at the bar for about 10 to 15 minutes. We ordered a couple of their signature drinks, but unfortunately neither of them really impressed us. That said, the bartender was friendly, attentive, and provided good customer service throughout the wait. Once our table was ready, we were escorted over just before the show started and began looking through the dinner menu. This is where the experience became a little rough. The wait staff clearly needed additional support. After ordering another round of drinks, we went at least 30 minutes without anyone checking on us, even after the performance had already started. Our waitress kept walking by our table, and we eventually had to flag her down just to place our food order. We also repeatedly asked for utensils and were told they were coming, but they never arrived until much later. There was also a waitress in training working alongside the main server, and unfortunately it showed. She seemed overwhelmed and unsure of what she was doing, while the lead waitress appeared far too busy to properly guide her. The overall service felt disorganized and stretched thin. Oddly enough, once we finally placed our order, the food came out extremely fast. Honestly, probably too fast. Unfortunately, neither of us enjoyed our meals at all. Everything tasted bland and forgettable. I genuinely cannot even remember exactly what we ordered because it left so little of an impression. We both took a couple bites and pretty much stopped there. Thankfully, the show itself completely delivered. The music was outstanding. The band, vocals, instruments, and overall talent level were top notch. The performances mostly consisted of covers rather than original material, but they were done exceptionally well. It is definitely not a quiet or intimate dinner environment since the music is loud and immersive, but if you are there for live jazz, the energy is fantastic. We even had the chance to meet a few members of the band afterward, and they were incredibly kind and personable. There is valet parking available ranging from around $10 to $20 depending on the option you choose. This place gets crowded quickly, so I highly recommend making reservations and purchasing tickets ahead of time. Because of the strong social media buzz surrounding this venue, I do think the crowds will continue coming. However, the food and service side of the experience still need some improvement. If we return, we would probably eat elsewhere beforehand and come strictly for the music and atmosphere. The potential here is absolutely there. It just has not fully put all the pieces together yet. First experience wasn't bad, but also left room for improvement. Overall, the experience didn't fully reach the vibe or expectation for the evening. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as a whole, and the artist we saw was phenomenal. The service was spotty at best. Two people were coming by but didn't seem to be on the same page which caused confusion. Took 20 minutes too long to get our check which seemed to be common because I overheard another table complain. One server mentioned the show ending earlier than expected, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but still disappointing. My main disappointment was the food. The menu seems thought out and interesting, but the short rib was dry and the octopus was over cooked. The desserts were okay but nothing to write home about. Not pictured is a glass of red wine and a Carajillo. Nothing would have me wanting to come back. If I decide to come to another show more than likely I'll choose to just enjoy a cocktail. read more

My fiancé loves Disney so I took her to a live acoustic Jazz show for their music. This building is apparently around 90 years old so the wiring is funky. The show turns from electric to acoustic with no visuals on their big screen because of this during a rain storm. Having said that, the staff and band pivoted and put in a great performance. The 90 minutes flew by and we had a great time. This place has some great appetizers/starters. I recommend you and your date just get 3-4 and split everything along with some drinks. I first visited Doc's in mid-April for a Disney show. Unfortunately, it was raining and the power was out, so as a first-time guest, I did not feel like I got a true experience of the venue. A lot went wrong that night, but I will say our server was delightful. I spoke with the manager, Sergio, and he promised to take care of my friends and me if we decided to come back. I truly appreciate him for keeping his word! We returned this past Saturday for the Prodigy and Felix De Leon Quartet show, and the show itself was amazing. The song choices were great, the crowd was into it, and overall the energy was there. I do wish the set was a bit longer (maybe closer to 90 minutes), because it felt like it ended quickly. Unfortunately, that is where the good experience ended. Our server this time (Jiovanni/Giovanni, unsure of spelling) was rude from the moment we sat down. We were genuinely confused because we had done nothing to warrant that kind of energy. He brought water but was very short with us, and when I asked for a straw, it took a while, meanwhile, the table in front of us (a party of 8) already had drinks and food (before I had a straw). We also noticed he was much more friendly and engaging with them, while we felt... like stepchildren, honestly. We had to flag him down just to place our order because he kept rushing past our table. When we finally ordered, we tried the Peach Serenade (so good!) and the short rib empanadas. The empanadas were decent, but for $18, I do think there should be at least four instead of three. Also, a deeper dish for the sauce would help. We noticed other tables receiving complimentary chips, which we were offered on our first visit but not this time. When we asked, he brought them but then told us we would be charged $8 because they are "imported from Spain." I am sorry, but they tasted like off-brand Lays, so that was... questionable. Another issue: the menu clearly states that parties of 6 or more are charged 20% gratuity, yet our party of 4 was automatically charged 20% as well (and only 3 of us even ordered food/drinks). I had to ask for it to be removed, which I did not enjoy doing, but the service we received absolutely did not warrant an automatic 20% tip. For reference, valet is $10, but there is also a free parking lot across the street on the far right. After two subpar experiences, I do not see myself returning, but I genuinely hope others have a better time and am very thankful to Sergio for giving us a chance to come back to Docs! read more

Wow, what a great experience and show! On this Saturday night I attended the David Caceres Orchestra Ft. Kamil Bonner. They were great! Its been a long minute where I enjoyed the music and the songs as much as I did this evening. The place has been open approximately since Dec. of 2025 so not that long. The website lays out well the menu, about, events and ticket/calendar so suggest checking the website out. They have parking if you get there early enough and valet too. Would suggest getting seating there an hour at least in advance so you can get your food in advance of the show. Regarding the menu, it has a great assortment of choices that ranges from appetizers, signature dishes, cavier if you feel like dropping extra money, salads, pizza and pastas, entree's and sides. They have a full bar for various drinks too. On this night I enjoyed their Shrimp Dijon composed of shrimp sautéed in a creamy Dijon mustard, white wine, and lemon butter sauce. Served with warm, toasted sourdough for dipping. My main entree was Filet Mignon 6 oz.1855 Black Angus Steak topped with a wine reduction sauce, mashed potatoes and shrimp. We did finish it with dessert Poached Pear in Pinot Grigio Aromatic topped with creamy blue cheese and toasted walnuts. Many other great options on the menu to try out. I have to say though the best part of the night was the jazz band. They really hit out of the park. Overly impressed, which is hard for me to get excited about things these days. Oh, and it wasn't so loud that it overwhelmed your eardrums. Service was great and funny. All the way from when we were received to food orders. Crowd was good and everyone was sat in a timely too. All that said, I would and look forward to coming back again and would encourage anyone to attend one of these events along with bring your appetite. read more

I came here for Disney night. They had a TV and I think they were supposed to play Disney videos in the background as they were playing. Unfortunately, it's an old bar and there was an electrical malfunction, which caused the TV to not work and also the electric guitars and that part of the band we're not able to be played. They did however, improvise, and we were still able to play via acoustic.. I would have really liked to see the full production, so I hope they do another Disney night. They did what they could and i still had a nice time. The short rib empanadas were very good along with the bruschetta. I wasn't a fan of the mini beef Wellington, though. The espresso machine was also down due to electrical issues so I was not able to get my Irish coffee. read more

I enjoyed seeing the band showcasing their talent of playing multiple instruments, and the singer was very talented as well as keeping the crowd engaged with stories. In the 70s while in College, Rockefellers was my favorite Live performance venue. I knew the best seats in the house, upstairs overlooking the stage with no obstruction. Well, I have found another spot that gives me that same view, Doc's Jazz Club. Dropped in to see Kyle Turner featuring TJ Moore. Kyle was Kyle, he's always the professional entertainer but that TJ Moore, first time hearing her perform and it won't be the last. Her voice and stage presence were impeccable. So if you are looking for a live Jazz venue, don't hesitate to drop by and get the best seats in the house, upstairs tables 7 through 11 no obstruction. read more

I attended an awards party and it was a private catered event. The inside is spacious and had a big elevated stage. You can sit floor level or up in the balcony area where there is a separate bar. Most seating has a good view of the stage. One of the managers Nick graciously helped me with freeing my bag from the embroidery on my dress. Somehow I managed to hook it across my dress and would've surely ripped it had I not had assistance. Service from the staff was excellent and they were efficient and friendly. The hostess got everyone sorted and seated. The food was delicious. I sampled the charcuterie and a pizza. The wine was also really nice. I had a red from Italy and they also had white wine available. The parking situation is close by with choices in a lot or some street parking. I'd love to come back on a regular evening for a performance next time I'm in Houston. read more

A friend of mine celebrated her birthday at Doc's Jazz Club, and we had an amazing time. The live jazz was exceptional, and the vibe and ambiance were classy yet perfectly chill. The service was great, and the food was good. Full transparency--we were about three shots to the wind, so I didn't get any food pics . My wife ordered the steak with mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts, and I stuck with a couple of French 75s while happily nibbling off her plate. Everything I tasted did not disappoint. The ambience, the food, the jazz band were all five out of five stars. Our server was also really nice and patient with us. We ordered the short rib empanadas, the beef Wellington, the pasta of the day, which was a Bolognese over Angel hair pasta, and a catch of the day which was salmon over a bit of vegetables. Price point for food and drinks is on the higher end. As for the one hiccup I booked a tiny table right in front of a fat pole that obstructed our view completely and I brought it to the manager's attention because when I booked the tickets, it did not say that it was gonna be an obstructed view. It was also near the kitchen and there was a lot of foot traffic in and out. Against a wall under a tv. The manager was nice and did resolve the issue and relocated us to an empty table eventually. As a venue, I loved the vibe of the music and being able to have conversation with the person who you are sitting with! It was a nice place, but you don't have to dress extremely fancy. I will say that the food was a let down, they charged $6 do sparkling water and the $28 charcuterie board was a let down. Also, the servers seemed to try and control the waitstaff in a way, as if the waitstaff didn't know where orders were supposed to go. I also felt like our server was a little too over friendly and kept checking in multiple times during the show, i understand a few times but it was like 10. Jazz is back and lives in Montrose! After a couple of the jazz clubs in downtown closed, I really hadn't found a place to enjoy. That is until Doc's took over the historic 1930's Tower Theatre building, which has undergone many iterations of businesses over the years from video store to Tex-Mex restaurant to name a few. Now I am glad that it is being revived with a musical jazz space that has been missing in Houston. My visit was for the soft opening, the first look that asks to be mindful as the kind of night where you stay open to the experience, knowing it's still settling into its own skin. They offer complimentary valet parking or self parking is also available on the side of the building. Additionally they do offer rider share with ALTO and 15% off discount when using their code DOCS15. The dress code I would say is business casual to dressy. It is good for date night, groups or solo to enjoy some jazz. Ambiance: 3/5 The vibe was very relaxed with the jazz band entertaining and keeping it looking classy. While the club is very nostalgic with its historic site, once inside, it felt very industrial and cold. I don't recall seeing any art on the walls nor any type of connection, which probably is only focused on the band. The reason for the 3/5 is because depending where you are seated, the kitchen can upstage the double bass and distract from movements where you're wrapped in the harmonies. There is no door separating the kitchen from the dining room, so at times the kitchen drowned out the music. Not sure if maybe placing a heavy curtain as they do in another historic venue in River Oaks does do muffle some of the outside noise would help. Service: 4/5 They did have a house full of servers and bussers being attentive and making sure everyone was taken care of. The busser kept my glass filled with the water I ordered, but wasn't offered any more water after I finished the bottle. Food: 4/5 Not sure if the menu is the permanent one as it did have "soft opening and the date printed on it" but based on what I ordered at this time: Espresso Martini: it was good, made with coffee liqueur but wasn't too sweet. Savannah Sling: was refreshing but was a bit watered with a lot of ice. It was boozy because after one, I felt it. I didn't have an entree, but did have a side of fries with garlic aioli, for the cost felt it was a bit steep for the the handful serving size I got. The garlic aioli was good and the fries were seasoned, but when I dipped the fry in the sauce, the fries lost their flavor. At the end I did receive a complimentary glass of champagne. Kim Prevost and the band were entertaining and enjoyed their show. I'll be on the look out for future shows, and excited to experience modal, swing and big band jazz. Doc's is refining its edges and finding its groove amongst the history, the music and the potential. read more

Everything went well here. Attended a birthday celebration for a friend. Hospitality was 100%.We were greeted at door. Reservations confirmed and escorted to our seat.Escort was friendly made light conversation and asked if it was a special event. Waitress allowed us to get comfortable in our seats and then approached to get drink request and leave menu's. You can tell when excellent training has been given to staff. The show was amazing Doc's does not have a bad seat in the house. The performers were mangling with quest before show started. I liked this touch, it made it fill personal. There's upstairs seating, angreat acoustics, staff posted near the kitchen awaiting full kitchen and bar orders. The chef made a special visit to our table to inform us he wasn't satisfied with the pork chop and would comp an alternative option. Asked his favorite, he highlighted the steaks or a pasta special. Once order was delivered he awaited our impression. It was rewarding delicious entrees and ambiance. We had dinner first and all our food was delicious--Doc's Burger, Grilled Broccolini, Shrimp Dijon, Mediterranean Salad, Fried Brussels, etc. Our server was Kimberly and she was great. Most people were dressed up nice which is refreshing to see. It was like stepping back in time when people put more effort into getting dressed. I wore a somewhat casual dress and felt just fine but if you enjoy getting spiffed up a bit, you'll fit right in at Doc's as it's a classy place. The staff is very nice and welcoming as well. Overall very pleasant night. We had the most delightful waitress, Lindsey, and sat center balcony for the first show. The wine was superb - we ordered the cab from the menu. (They have what looks as if it will be a good wine selection as well - although menus were not available yet. I'll be interested in seeing it next time.) We were there for the experience mainly which delivered. We were able to easily chat without distracting others. The music was the perfect volume - not too loud, not too soft. Next time, we maybe more likely to stick to appetizers & sides next time as we enjoy trying more things. The tartare was fresh. The ceviche sounded great but since we had tartare, that was out of the running for the main. We landed on the half chicken dish. It was pleasant especially with lemon squeezed on it but not exceptional. It was oddly smaller than anticipated & had very little visual interest. If its skin was roasted or there were sides, it would have helped with the aesthetics. We enjoyed the sauce so a little more of that would have also been beneficial. But again, we were there for the vibe & would go again. Kim Prevost had a great voice - we thoroughly enjoyed her voice and the band. I hope they also mix in some younger talent later on to draw a mixed younger/hip crowd. The crowd was mixed the night we went - which adds to the appeal. Keeping in mind, we were there for a soft opening - there are a few things that will likely be tweaked over time. One is that the overhead lighting upstairs will need to be taken down a notch. The placement of the lights are just in front of the table & overhead which is annoying for a person with glasses like myself. Dim them or consider floor lighting to enhance the mood. Finally, a place to go for dinner and music. We were just there a few days ago for dinner and a show of The Buena Vista music from Cuba. A classy place with great, attentive service and very good food. Generally, you go to a place like this for the music and hopefully decent food. At this venue you also had a diverse menu, both food and wine and what both my wife and I had was very good. I loved the Heirloom Carpaccio and Clams Casino. It was a full house and the seating around the stage is perfect and very professional. It reminded me of the Blue Note in NY. You can pick your table on their website, and it's accurate. Check out the upcoming calendar for the different kinds of music. March 3rd we are going back to hear music/ songs from famous Broadway shows. Loved the experience here for a girls night. The check in process was straight forward. Reservations are staggered to allow room for the servers to manage tables. The drinks were good and well balanced. The show was amazing and loved the backstory shared about specific ballads. I will for sure come here again to see a quartet ensemble. read more

What a perfect addition to Houston' nightlife! We went on NYE so I don't know their typical menu but the food was unexpectedly great. The soup and sea bass were excellent. Our server also exceeded expectations, making the evening even better. The show by Tianna Hall was brilliant. Tickets were very pricy but that could've been for NYE. I would definitely return since it's such a great concept for a date or a fun group. The interior was more warehouse chic style than a posh supper club, but it didn't impact our experience. read more

This place is a whole vibe! The servers (I wish I could remember their names) were fantastic! The food was exceptional! I ordered the New York strip/lobster with broccoli and it was perfectly prepared as if I was in someone's home. If you're a fan of an Old Fashion drink you will be very pleased as I was. The ambiance this place provides made me feel very comfortable and that's including the fact that I was there as one person in a part of about 15 people. We all enjoyed every part of our evening there. The performer of the night was a talented brother, James O'Neal. Absolutely enjoyed his performance. His wife took the stage for a song and she was just as wonderful. We all spoke on how we will definitely be back again. read more

This is upscale jazz club and it also serves food. The minute you walk in you feel like you are in another era. People dress up, the service was excellent and food was great. We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer it was excellent. We also had the Wellington bites that were delicious but small. The empanadas were great also. The octopus was main dish it was a bit too chewy but seasoned well. What wonderful addition to Houston. The only thing is wine is very expensive for what receive. my husband ordered a bottle of wine that was recommended. He paid over $80 for the bottle and it retails for $14. I know they usually double the price a little bit more but this was quite a big markup considering all they do is open up the wine bottle. read more

We were so excited to come to Doc's! After reading previous customers' reviews, we didn't have high expectations for the food or the service, but expected the music to be great. We saw Rickey Davis. The band was amazing, Rickey did great, and the guest singer was phenomenal. Service/food wise... we were given water and chips. No one else came to check on us or take our order during the 1.5 hours we were there. We ended up getting Cane's after the show because we were starving. Like I said, we didn't have high hopes for the food or service, but it was worse than I anticipated. I would say to eat before you go, or be super naggy with your server or you might not eat! read more

I have visited Doc's on three occasions. I recommend this place for all music lovers. I absolutely love live music and each time the music genre was different and did not disappoint. The wait staff was full of smiles and very welcoming. I had the same server (BenniHanna) the second and third time I visited. She was amazing, very attentive, nice & polite. However, I would highly suggest they get a new menu. My first visit, I ordered the brisket ravioli. It either didn't have enough sauce or needs to be served with a sauce. My second visit, I ordered the burger and fries as a safe choice but I felt like I bit into a block of blue cheese. Last night, I ordered the steak and it was good but maybe a little less char. I know I will be returning, but probably will have dinner somewhere else. read more

Cool place, will definitely be back again. The only thing is the service is not the best and they will add things to your tab that you did not ask for. An extra water was added to our tab that the server brought when we did not ask for it and I don't like that. The waiter did take it off our tab when I told him but it shouldn't have been added in the first place. read more

Do you like Jazz? If so check out Doc's! Since a few choice Jazz spots have closed around H-town over the last few years (looking at you Ready Room) when Doc's opened I've been wanting to check it out. Went on a Friday night. They have two sets typically 7pm and 9pm. We chose the 7pm so we could eat there. Arrived around 6:30pm. Valet parking is right out front, $10 for backlot and $20 for front. It's Montrose so not unexpected and well worth it. The club itself is amazing, set in an old theatre. Extremely well done and remodeled. Table on the first floor second row. Prices ranges from $60-70/pp so not cheap. We got seated and got drinks going. Had a few lays chips to start which was interesting but appreciated and they were all eaten lol. We got the tuna tartar, beef empanadas and shrimp Dijon. All were honestly pretty good but not amazing. Band was amazing, ambiance moody and low lit perfect for the setting. Overall we had an amazing time and will certainly be back. If you're looking for a nice romantic jazz night check it out. read more
