This place is too good... we tend not to go to other establishments because we love it there so much. The bartender Tony works her butt off an makes the best martinis. The wait staff is great, very friendly and you can tell they all work together and it seems they like working there. Usually they have a person playing some music - it is perfect not too loud. Our go to orders - sliders, tuna, hot and sweet shrimp. We usually share and add something new each time. Sea Bass is awesome for an entree as well as the clams and spaghetti! Nice spot in Somers Point to have dinner! We were easily able to make a reservation over the phone for a Sunday evening. Service was very fast - I think we were wrapped up with dinner right around an hour. Our reservation was for 6:30 and it wasn't too busy when we arrived but it was full when we left! I had the chicken francaise. It came with the veggie of the day, which was something I couldn't eat due to an allergy, but they were great with giving me a few other options - so I chose the broccoli. All of my food was good. I also had a glass of Prosecco. I didn't see any other kids while we were dining, but we had my 5 year old with us. They don't have an official kids menu, but they do offer a few options such as chicken fingers and fries, grilled cheese sliders, and pasta. We opted for the chicken fingers and fries, and we had plenty of leftovers from his meal. Parking was easy - they had a dedicated lot. Next time I'd love to request outdoor seating - we didn't for this visit since the weather was iffy. We did notice their outdoor seating is covered though. read more

The early birds came with soup or salad, entree and dessert for a great price! My husband had a beef ragu over penne and I had shrimp with chorizo over pasta. Both were delicious. I was at the shore yesterday and my friend recommended Doc's Place - for the food and the outdoor deck overlooking the Marina. It was a lovely evening for dining outdoors and I enjoyed the atmosphere on the veranda. We had the Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer - Doc's uses fresh shrimp - the shrimp were large and tender. However, they were very 'moist' - almost as if they had been stored in cold water. My friend actually used her napkin to squeeze out water and said it improved the consistency. I didn't resort to that, but did enjoy them. We shared the Chilean Sea Bass and Lobster Ravioli, which were both on the specials of the day menu. The fish was tender and quite tasty, but the star of the meal was the raviolis! Large, tender raviolis in an amazingly delicious sauce, with pieces of lobster scattered all over the dish. During the height of the summer season, while some other restaurants are unbelievably unavailable, we always love the reliable and lovely dining at DOC'S PLACE! The service is great! The food is solid! There is a full service bar! Drinks are generous! But, best of all... IF you are lucky enough to dine outside on their deck.. then you have dinner & a gorgeous harbor VIEW! Our dinner for four, was smooth! Appetizers were brought out in timely manner, we love their sashimi tuna app, and shared. Others shared the wedge salad. Was in sommerspoint with family for a beach trip. This area can be pretty dicey with food but this meal was terrific! I ate there twice, The first time had huge martinis filled to the very lip of the glass, and tried a few dishes, flounder, clams, scallops(didn't love the sauce) clam pasta. Everything was great. Bravo to the staff and kitchen! We had an event here for work last night on the back patio with a group of about 40 people. It was a wonderful evening! The staff was running around serving drinks and kept us well hydrated. Orders were taken quickly and the food came out hot and timely. My favorite appetizers were the baked Brie which was served with fresh fruit and the steak tacos on the daily special menu. For my meal I got the filet cooked medium well and it was full of flavor and so tender you could cut it with a fork. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the perfect pairing. Food is bland. Someone should introduce the chef to spices or even salt. If you are over 70 and like bland rice and vegetables as your sides then this is your place. My Mahi Mahi was flavorless. I used the bread dipping oil to give it flavor and try to soften it again. The crab cakes are dry, you need a glass of water to get it down. The only dish on the table that was good was the NY strip steak. Sad since this is a restaurant by the water where you would expect good seafood. Also had appetizer of Burrata and Prosciutto. It should have read one thick dry slice of prosciutto topped with Burrata and the same flavorless red peppers that are sprinkled on all the specials. In my 40s and by far the youngest people eating here. Not worth the price. read more

Food & drink, prices were reasonable. Food were generous in portion & tasted great. Everyone was happy with what the ordered. Ambiance, we were seated inside which was decorated nicely. It was difficult to hear people from across our table because the restaurant was loud because of other patrons (every table occupied & people at the small bar) & an acoustic musician playing. The restaurant has a lovely outside covered deck but reservations were filled for that section, it may have been a bit quieter. I'd recommend Doc's! read more

Very good, but extremely expensive for the size of the portions, Crab new burg was great, but two Flounder Francaise entrees at over $40.00 dollars were very small portions. Rolls brought to the table had some burned on the bottom. Service was very slow, and the place is extremely noisy due to the close proximity of the bar to the dining area. read more

The food and ambience were very very good. Resturant is right on the water, you are in a enclosed plastic box so safe from any weather that may happen when they are open. We had reservations for 7pm. We were promptly seated. Great service. Drinks were good. We ordered calamari and spicey shrimp appetizers. Both were very good. Calamari was cooked perfectly. For dinner I ordered the duck at the recommendation of the waiter. Probably the best duck that I have ever eaten. My wife had spaghetti and clams. Huge portions. My daughter had crab cakes and our friend has salmon. The entire meal was very good. No room for desert. We dined inside but they do have outside seating available. I've driven by a few times but never took the time to go there. I've only been to Docs Place twice. Both times were excellent : service at the bar, and the table were both friendly, professional and attentive. the food was always fresh and salmon and crab cake cooked the way they should be. Salmon moist. Crab cake was medium size however still with large lump meat in it. The New England clam chowder is a hit at every table. Comes in a overflowing 10 to 12 ounce mug. You can tell they used heavy cream and fresh clams. Very little potato they have some corn in it, which adds a little sweetness, which, quite frankly, is perfect. My vodka martini with creamy blue cheese olives was excellent and the rocks are served on the side without asking. Very relaxing. Very surprising. Both times were very nice. read more

Being from the north shore of Massachusetts I haven't found one place in south Jersey that makes a decent New England clam chowder. Well that changed when I came to Docs. If you like the smell of Windex, this place is for you. A server constantly sprayed Windex into the air and onto each table instead of on a cloth. It definitely blows onto the food. She sprayed so much, it left tiny puddles on some of the tables- and the silverware went directly *into* the Windex puddles. Gross! Hard to taste anything while choking on the constant flow of chemicals. The tables aren't even glass! May I suggest they use food-grade cleaner instead. The theme for this place is that you get what you pay for. The inside smells a bit moldy/musty. The view of the bay is nice, but that's the best thing about this place (and the only reason why I didn't rate it 1 star). The food is diner quality or a bit below. The rolls are the tastiest part of the meal. Servers disappear for most of the meal unless- you guessed it- they decide to Windex all of the tables. read more

Appetizers of mussels in red sauce was good. Not a very large portion We had to ask to bread! Caesar salad was also good but they took the liberty of dividing it on the 3 plates. Portion was tiny. My friend and mom had flounder. The choices of sides were not too exciting. Snap peas or carrots I wanted flank steak but was told they did not have it. Ordered fish and chips. It came out looking like fish sticks. Good fries. Overall this place was too pricy to be mediocre. There's so much competition with restaurants that you need something to be different or outstanding. How disappointing can one place be. Group of 6 arrived for the before 5pm dinner special. Couldn't wait to try the stir fry-$16. Not bad which includes soup or salad and dessert. To start, the hostesses could certainly be nicer. If you try to request a table, they make you feel like you are lucky just to get into the restaurant. This is still the first impression of a restaurant and it was not a good one. The food was very good but they troll your table waiting for you to finish. they tired to take our food away while we were still eating. Went here with my mom for a cup of chowder and appetizers, and it was just enough! Bread was great! Very sweet and tasted very good with butter. Chowder was a 10/10! I got the Kobe beef sliders, very tasty. My mom got the shrimp tempura special, it was GREAT! The sauce was very tasty as well. The waitress was extremely kind as well! Never asked if our food was good (which for the price it wasn't spectacular,) never asked if we needed refills, or anything In general. When she came to our table she wouldn't even look at us when she talked, I guess we didn't fit the "description" of the typical customer that walks into the restaurant. We ordered a round of Mich Ultras and another waiter brought them to our table. As he passed by our waitress he stated "it wasn't hard to figure out where these were going." As if we were trash for not ordering some fancy wine. The same waiter also stuck his fingers in a wine glass to clean the rim of it before bringing it to the customer. So overal 10/10 wouldn't recommend. If you have tattoos, and are younger stay away. read more

I've been coming to Somers Point for years and somehow never managed to make it to Docs. We had an 8pm dinner reservation and showed up 15 mins early. Table wasn't ready (which was fine and expected) so we got drinks at the bar. I don't recall waiting much beyond 8 for our table, but our waiter was extremely apologetic. (Apparently the prior diners were there for almost 3 hours) They easily transferred our bar check (this is a huge pet peeve of mine when restaurants force you to settle up). We tipped the bartender and settled into our table. We ordered a few apps - burrata special was tasty. Entrees we're a mix from the regular menu and the specials. We have an egg allergy at the table and the waiter was very familiar with the menu and available accommodations. Everyone had excellent dishes. As solid as the food was, the real standout was the service. This crew was clearly well trained and familiar with traditional tableservice which was a real delight. Well, I must say the dinner rolls were very nice as well as the olive oil that came with it. The salad was standard fare and was acceptable. I had the salmon and my wife had the flounder with crab cake. My salmon was okay but the flounder was awful. I tasted it and it was not very tasty at all. The mashed potatoes were what you'd expect in a cafeteria, edible but nothing to write home about. The carrots were in the same category as the potatoes. The service was atrocious. If you ignore people and make annoyed faces you really might think of another line of work. I had to ask one of the bus people to get our waitress so we could pay and leave. If you make people wait because you're busy we understand that happens. Treating paying customers as if they are a bother leaves a very bad impression. Even an insincere I am sorry would have sufficed. Ambience was okay. It was loud and quite noisy but hey it is what it is... I don't give one star ratings because anyone can have a bad night. It happens. My experience was, to put it politely, less than pleasant. I don't think we'll be going back but I wish them well. read more

I made a reservation for a large party one month in advance for an outside table. When we arrived, an earlier, not as large party, was sitting at our intended table and took a long time leaving. We had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. Obviously, the restaurant can't to anything about this as it's happening, but better planning and reservation management should be investigated.
