    Cod Bites lunch special

On the bay, the quintessential Jersey Shore seafood shack. Baked, broiled or fried. Staff here knows what taking care of the customer means. Menu is concise, keeping each item at its absolute best. Cash only, as it always has been.

Haven't been to smitty's in a long time. We went early to make sure they didn't run out of corn fritters to find out they don't service them on the weekends. What a disappointment. Their menu seemed basically the same but the written specials were much more limited than we remembered. They also didn't have the chowder we were hoping for. The place itself hasn't changed and our server was great. Lowered my rating due to missing items.

Always a pleasure to dine by the bay at Smitty's! Service, always with a smile! Great seafood dishes prepared to please! Many specials to sample. But you'd better hurry... they close mid September. And won't return til Mid May!

Clearly this is a little shack on the bay, so what u see is what you get. If you want some clams, clam strips, or chowder, belly up to the bar for a quick bite, but I wouldn't recommend ordering a fish or seafood meal. I just didn't find value in the meals here. I think the locals love it and people love coming back year over year but I'm not sure I understand the hype. For the same price, you can have air conditioning without bugs flying around your face in any little diner in these parts. But if you like that kind of thing, go before they close-two weeks after Labor Day.

My favorite spot at the shore for seafood. It's worth the long wait and cash only. Also go on a Thursday for the seafood potato skins they are no joke.

It's our traditional 1st visit of the season! It's the casual, laid back, vibe with good fresh seafood that does it for us! Love seeing the latest artistic drawings of the menus by the local children who come to eat at the restaurant. We loved our usuals, served very hot & fresh every time. All the servers are friendly & quick to get the food out. We'll be seeing ya soon! (BYOB)

Worth the stop! Checked this place out for a late lunch. The New England clam chowder was piping hot and filled with clams! We also tried the fried clam strip app and a fried shrimp po boy (a special). Fish was fresh, lightly breaded, and plentiful. Prices were very reasonable too for the quality and quantity! Service was quick and it appeared that everyone helped everyone with service. Cash only. The only thing that's missing is outdoor seating in the back, overlooking the marina!

Here are the positives: 1. The menu: They have a very extensive drink menu, with plenty of cocktails, including margaritas, canned drinks, and other specialty drinks. I wish they would serve more mocktails, but that's just me. 2. The atmosphere: This is an excellent place to enjoy the bayside views and hear live music, and it's even on a sunny day. 3. The service: This location has plenty of staff on hand, but you may have to flag someone down if it's busy. The food and drinks here are very good and compliment the atmosphere very well. I will say there are a couple of downsides: Cover charge: If you want to come here on the weekend, be prepared to pay at the door. The cost to come here is $5 per person, and while that may be alright for those who are vacationing here, it can become quite costly for locals. I really wish places like this offered a seasonal pass then I'd be back much more often. One of the more negative experiences I had was using the bathroom. I did have an incident at the Somers Point location where I locked the bathroom door and a member of their staff walked in on me and, at one point, banged a broom against the window. I'm not sure if any of their locations have some type of bathroom policy, but it didn't seem quite professional and felt very awkward. If you plan on using the bathroom here, make sure the door if completely locked.

This time we came to see our friend playing music in the bar area. The bar was crowded for 4:00pm but we found a table which worked well for us. I went to the bar to get my wife and I some beers and the bartender served us right away. I asked if we could get menus for the table and she sent over our server. He was great. He took our order quickly and came back often to the table to see if we wanted anything else. When I read the menu before coming I knew I really wanted to try the tacos. Between my wife and I we got to try 4 types: - Tuna: This was delicious. One of the best tuna tacos I've ever had. They used a nice strip of good tuna meat and seared it with a nice spice blend. - Mahi Mahi (grilled), Mushroom, Shrimp (fried): all were very good The only reason for only four stars was the price for the tacos. Compared to other restaurants that sell tacos they run roughly a dollar more than most establishments. However the quality of the tuna in my opinion does justify the higher price.

We assumed because this restaurant is huge and has a big packed parking lot that they really had something going on inside. But our meals and lackluster service proved our assumption wrong. We entered through the door nearest the parking lot, and apparently that was the bar. We were directed to two different stations before someone could seat us. Locals may know where to go for hostess seating, but a newcomers are confused by your massive restaurant and layout. Although we were seated without a wait, our server didn't greet us for a VERY LONG TIME. I asked a few of my many questions before ordering, and he was able to answer. After only ordering lunch specials and water, perhaps we weren't looking like a lucrative table, so it seemed service was perfunctory and we got delayed responses at every encounter. Even getting water refilled seemed a struggle. One lunch sized clam linguine and one broiled fish lunch special with risotto and pickled beets as a side. The clam linguine came with a nice price of toasted baguette, and three clams in shell plus more chopped. It was acceptable. The broiled fish was fine, tender flaky and lightly seasoned, but the risotto was heavy, gloppy, sticky goo. The plate was adorned with a tiny sad little lettuce leaf and a thin slice of lemon. The pickled beets were a nice change of pace, I will say. We didn't order dessert. There was a tremendous wait for the check, even though we asked for it before we finished eating. An unremarkable $36 lunch for us, we paid the bill, and after another very long wait got our credit card back and left. Not sure why this place has such good ratings, it seemed very average.
