First of all, I wish I could do negative stars. This is the worst possible doctors office and their online check in system is a joke. Around 11am I set up an approximate time for 3:17. A couple hours later I got a text saying they pushed my time to 4:02. OK, I guess, but about 15 minutes later I got another text saying they pushed my time to 5:50. They close at 6. So even if I go in at 5:50 like they want me to, I won't be seen because they are closing. What kind of urgent care makes it impossible to be seen. I have this issue every time I try to be seen. Ive had to wait 6 or more hours every single time. My boyfriend was coughing up blood and still wasn't seen for 4 hours. The only reason I have to go here is because of my insurance. If I had a choice I would go literally anywhere else. The front desk people are incompetent, rude and inconsistent. They say one thing then turn around and change it in the same breath. That's only when the bother answering the phones in the first place. I had to renew my birth control and they said I had to come in and let someone look at my genitals and examine me, then take a pregnancy test before I could renew. I'm not due for a pap or anything. I refused and they still made me come in before they would renew it. I've been on the same birth control for over 7 years and I have never had to do that to renew it. I was completely appalled at the rudeness of the staff over the phone and in person when I came in. I don't like to cause issues or make a scene at all. They have always been extremely rude, rolling their eyes and refusing to tell me how long the wait is. I've never had a good experience here and I sincerely wish I could go anywhere else. This is part of a chain of doc-in-a-box storefronts that provide excellent medical attention without an appointment or a long wait. Their prices are reasonable. This is a good alternative to an overpriced emergency room. Obviously you don't come here with a heart attack, or a severed limb. When I walked in I was welcomed by Gabby with a friendly smile as she helped me with the check in process. I had a couple of questions and she was more than happy to answer them, I really appreciate that she took the time to do this. Once I was called by the medical assistant, Yosebet, she introduced herself and led me to the exam room where she took my readings. I really liked how she told me what she was going to do before she did anything. I felt as if I was in safe hands. The reason why I'm giving this Establish a 1 star is Simply because Their billing system is terrible meaning me my girlfriend came beginning the year we did pay. There was still a charge remaining 10 which in October equals to $128 And debt collectors were calling us. So they really should get their system checked or because this is their fault not ours. A $100 more because they don't know how to send you a bill instead they send it to debt collectors. Terrible place to do business with. read more

Went in twice cause I hurt my ankle and couldn't walk and it's 2 months later And i can still barely walk . All they did was take an xray and give me crutches. She didn't even touch my ankle or rrally do anything both times. All they said was stay off of ir and it will heal in 6 weeks which it most definitely has not. And now my bill is $300 after isurance. I was impressed last week when my fiancé came for his first visit. During that visit we asked for a refill of his blood thinners. He has several blood clots in his leg and had just run out of the medication. They called in the prescription but the insurance company needed additional authorization because it was a new prescription. I called them Thursday afternoon, Friday and today and was told each time I would receive a follow up phone call. I did not receive any information about the medication refill until Monday afternoon when I went to the clinic. It seemed like I was the only person that understood the severity of the situation. My advice would be to stay on top of your own health care issues because they won't. read more

Excellent location for Urgent care. We really love Dr. Gold and the male doctor also. I have never waited more than about 20 minutes. The support staff is very friendly with the exception of one person named Angela so I just avoid her. . I always get greeted with a genuine smile by the lovely ladies up front. They have been super helpful getting my kids illnesses diagnosed. When needed, we got a great referral to another doctor for a special medical issue. read more

To the individual that posted the "defamation of character" on Dr. Vu. It is apparent from your ravings that you have no clue regarding the medical profession. As a medical professional myself (RN), we are required, in order to protect our license, to assess all vitals organs of each patient we come in contact with. That's how many a people are saved because and abnormality is caught early. Considering the importance of the heart sustaining life...I would think you would want to know if something didn't seem quite right. Imagine if he didn't check it out and you walked out of the clinic and had a heart attack. I suppose then you would complain that he didn't check you out thoroughly with the thought process that "he's a doctor, he should have checked that out." Understand, those of us in the medical profession have worked extremely hard to obtain our license and we are governed. While granted, there are some sleaze balls out there. I have been seeing Dr. Vu for almost 2 years. He is genuinely concerned about his patients health and well being, very professional, very thorough,very respectful, and merely doing his job....and extremely good might I add. By the way....you have 4 chambers in your heart that must be listened to in order to detect any abnormalities. Unfortunately, for females, one is on or under our BOOB. Whether it be on it or just under it.....that is the reality of where it is located. Maybe if "he" had been a "she" you wouldn't have felt the same way. I started going here as a student and I just kept going here. The care is OK and they seem professional. I went in for a physical and got blood work and the next day the doctor called back and told me I was extremely sick and needed to go to the emergency room ASAP because I could die. I was scared, called my family, it was a mess. At the ER they retested my blood and I was fine. It was a mistake. I guess this could happen anywhere but I think people should know. read more

Had great service on my visit last week. The front desk was friendly and helpful. I was seen pretty quickly even with 5 people ahead of me. The area was very nice and clean. I loved the screen that shows how many people are ahead of me and the average wait time. Dr. Dawson was very friendly, she really took her time with me. Brought my son in to see Dr. Dawson for a minor issue and like always she was fantastic. Fast but thorough with amazing bedside manner.Gabby checked us in with such kindness and was so sweet during the whole paperwork/insurance and checkin process. The medical assistant, Isabelle was so nice and knew how to talk to my son to not make him so nervous. The reason for the two star review. Well, when we walked into the bank the two blonde medical assistants behind the desk gave us dirty looks right away. Once in the room you could hear them talking like they were sitting right next to us, this wouldn't have been such a bad thing but the profanities they were using were not only completely unprofessional but my young son asked me what f@#k meant. When we left they were just as rude. doctor Dawson is a great provider and our family was very sad to find out two of my favorite medical assistants (Karen and Jessica) no longer work there but sadly until the nasty girls no longer are there we will have to find care elsewhere. I went to Dr. on duty in Marina, saw Dr. Tortorice who was absolutely wonderful. While I had to wait a while it was definitely worth it! His diagnosis was right on target but it was his positive and supportive manner that was most impressive. I was tired and in a lot of pain with the mouth scores (allergic reaction) at the end of the day but when he looked at me with a reassuring smile and told me he would have me feeling a lot better by the next day brought a smile to my face - and he was right! I had a work comp after I felt in the floor and injured my nose; hurt my ankle, my hand, my front teeth and my back. I am in a big pain. Unfortunately I went last week to Doctor on duty in Marian, after more than a week to be seen by the emergency room. My nose was glued in the emergency room and again by another doctor. When I visited the Doctor on Duty, the only thing Doctor Gold did was removing the closure tape from my nose. She did not examine my foot or my hand or my back. She asked me to come next week. I had some concerns; she did not have time to communicate with me, so I asked my questions to the nurse who keeps going to and back to Dr. Gold. Yesterday was my second visit, I have been told by the nurse I should wait because I have no appointment "you came walk in", I told the receptionist to pull my file because the appointment was written in the official paper given to me and had sent a to my job. Finally they found that I have an appointment. I am still complaining about the pain in my front teeth, my foot, my hand, and my back. They did only an X- ray for my foot in the second visit. the Dr. waited for the second visit to ask for it, three weeks after my injury and then asked me to take off the ankle supporter ( Look like a cast) given to me in the emergency room. Still my back, my hand and my teeth did not examined I asked about a referrer to the dentist because my front teeth are hurting and numb, I advised by the emergency room doctor to see the dentist. Dr. Gold told me she asked the receptionist to do the referral to the dentist since the first visit. I understood, the Dr. did not ask them to do any referral during the first visit. Yesterday I was in the office of the doctor on duty; Doctor Gold did not give me time to communicate with her or to address my concerns, so, I talked to the doctor through a middle-person (the receptionist) who I asked what should I do for the pain I have . She went inside to ask the doctor and she came telling me" the doctor said "she will write a prescription for you in the next visit"! that means two weeks from now. I told the receptionist to give me a written statement about what the doctor said I asked, how can a doctor ask a patient to come after two weeks to take a prescription for the current situation?!!!! The receptionist went to the doctor and came back telling me "come inside and talk to the doctor. Finally, the doctor wrote a prescription, not two weeks later. She did not manage my pain from the first visit. Till this moment I do not get a treatment or referral to a dentist, foot doctor or Dr. for my back or doctor for my hand. The pain still as it was. What is the point of periodic visit each week or two weeks if there is no any kind of treatment? read more

I couldn't have been more happier with the quality of service and staff from the time I walked in the door to the time I walked out the door. The staff were polite, helpful and reassuring. They were able to answer my questions regarding my insurance coverage. We walked in without an appointment, filled out paperwork, waited for a couple minutes and was called back. The assistant that checked his vitals and took down more info on the reason we were there, was very nice and made my son feel at ease. The doctor was direct, to the point and we discussed the issue. He came back within minutes to give me the lowdown on the medicines and doses and we were out of there. I was pleasantly surprised that my son and I was in and out of there within an hour. That has never happened to me especially with an "acute care" issue. I am so pleased. I would recommend this office to any mom out there! read more

Ok, I have a fear of needles, NO I am TERRIFIED of injections!! To make matters worse, the pharmacist went on to inform me that the injections were going to be Deep Muscle (Long Big Needle in the behind) and would be painful due to the thickness of the injectable substance. No sooner had I arrived almost crying like a baby (I am a big 6ft man by the way) Angela took me aside and told me not to worry (I suffer from stress too) as she is the greatest at giving injections. I wish there was a website for people afraid of needles as she is truly Magic. It did not hurt one bit. If she moved anywhere I would follow as I have to have a shot every 2 weeks. One other thing, I was having issues with my insurance and could not get to the bottom of it. The bills were high and should have been covered and as I suffer from stress, I was freaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took the bills in to Angela Next thing I know, the bills have dissapeared, all sorted. Angela took care of all of them for me. She goes so far beyond the realm of customer service it is unbelievable. i had to wait over two hours in this place just to be seen by a hard to understand guy with a white coat, typing in my symptoms on a laptop that took 2 minutes. I highly recommend going to a different place for a walk in unless you feel like spending your whole day waiting, while everyone in this office socializes and has joke time while your sick and waiting for a simple prescription for antibiotics this place is a serious joke! read more

Was here from out of town and needed to have a minor surgical procedure done. Had called around to all the urgent cares in Marina and was told by receptionist over the phone that they could accommodate. All the others said they were not equipped. I headed in and was once again assured by the front desk staff that they could accommodate. Sat down and filled out all new patient paperwork. Heard the receptionist tell a patient walking in that there was not an actual Doctor working...just a physicians assistant. I again went to the front desk to clarify as I know physicians assistants can not perform surgical procedures on their own. The receptionist again told me that she thought they could accommodate but was not sure. I asked her to please go check. She confirmed with the P.A. that he would not be able to help. At this point I asked if she knew where I could go. She said possibly their Monterey office. I asked if she could call to verify before I drove there which she did and confirmed they could help. She told me to drive there. I had to ask her for the address as she hadn't told me that....she searched around for a card and handed me that. After driving to the Monterey office who were amazing I was told at that office that they should have also put me in the computer and preregistered me so I wouldn't have to wait as long. The staff at this office definitely wasn't knowledgeable of their procedures or respectful of people's time. read more

I'm not certain about the other doctors who may or may not work at this establishment, but my experiences are strictly with Dr. Trinh Vu. First, the good points. The wait time was minimal (10 to 15 minutes), the front desk personnel were polite, and the nurse/asssistant on duty was exceptionally pleasant and proffesional. Dr. Vu is clearly very passionate about his chosen proffesion. The bad points. Dr. Vu is NOT board certified. Feel free to check this with the American Board of Proffesional Medicine (ABPM), among other certification organizations. Dr. Vu has absolutely no people skills whatsoever in dealing with patients and is exceptionally difficult to communicate with. Twice now, I've been to his office, and I am in the process of looking for a more "personable" doctor, if one even exists in this area. My simple personal health concerns were met with a very loud and berating "lecture" that exceeded 20 minutes. The exam rooms are small, with no privacy screens that I've seen. In other words if you need to get undressed for anything, be prepared for the possibility being naked for anyone in the hallway/reception area to see (No, he did not knock or ask if I was ready...) At the very least, it was easy to obtain a prescription for an anti-depressant. Whether or not this was induced by my bad expererience - I'll leave you to make your own conclusions. read more

I am writing this over my experience with them the last 6 months. When I was a CSUMB student, I was always treated very well here. I enjoyed the atmosphere and appreciated their customer service. Now, after my experience after these last 6 months I have to say my opinion is vastly different. Anna and Yvette who schedule all the appointments have a hard time remaining consistent about the things they tell their patients. Several times I have made same day appts with Yvette. This morning I called to make an appt as I fear I may have bronchitis or pneumonia and Anna snapped at me over the phone before I was able to finish my thought and said, We don't make same day appts! I work in a vet hospital which has its similarities and differences to human medicine. I can say that if I EVER spoke to one of our patients owners like this, I would immediately be written up. They are very rude, Yvette less so, but both of them are rude. The only people I can speak in favor of are Dr. Atkinson and Mulvaney who really did a great job addressing my back and work comp injury (which is why I've been there so much) and the assistant, whose name I don't recall, but she is tall, slender, with curly dark hair and is INCREDIBLY sweet and personable. She always made me feel better about ridiculous wait times even with an appt, and in general helped keep the mood light. Needless to say, due to the front desk reception and lack of consistency I will be trying a different location. read more

My first experience with Dr. Shelly Dawson was last Monday at the Doctors on Duty in Marina, CA. I was a walk-in without an appointment because I could not get in to see my primary doctor and my medical issue continued to get worse. Ana, the receptionist, greeted me with a warm good morning. I was called in to see the doctor in a timely manner. The medical assistant, Maria, and everyone there was completely hospitable and welcoming. I had nothing but a positive experience with Doctor Dawson and her office staff. Doctor Dawson answered all my questions and she set up for me to have x-rays while I was there. That was a blessing because the x-rays showed that I had Pneumonia. Although Doctor Dawson is not my primary doctor, she asks me to come in as a follow-up next week. Doctor Dawson is amazing and a caring person. She treated me as if I was her regular patient. My entire experience from the moment I walked in and walked out the door was wonderful. If you are looking for a doctor whose medical knowledge is encyclopedic, treats the whole person, and takes the time to be caring even while maintaining a very efficient office, then Doctor Shelly Dawson is someone you should consider visiting at Doctors on Duty, Marina, CA. read more

This clinic is terrible! I was prescribed a medicine I ended up having a reaction to, when I called in the next morning to tell them what happened and I needed another medication, I was told that I would need to wait for 3 days of taking it for "my system to adjust to it" before they would see me again. Why would I take something that my body reacted negatively to? They told me there was nothing else they could do for me for at least 3 days. I saw another doctor right away who was appalled at how they handled the situation and they had misdiagnosed me anyway. Lets not talk about how i went to use the restroom and there was piss on the floor as well as poop on the toilet, I promptly reported this to the front desk because i refused to use it and they sent no one and didn't do anything about it. How disgusting for a doctors office, makes it no better than a filthy gas station. They get one star for the polite nurse I dealt with. Other than that, steer clear of this clinic, please just got to the ER if you need to see a doctor asap. read more

P.A Jack Sperry is the most unprofessional person I have ever met! I come from the animal medical field and if you talked to a client like that you would be fired on the spot! After telling him over the counters we're not working he proceeded to tell me oh well. Then asks me to sign paperwork and I simply ask what am I signing and he slams he hand on the counter and says it says patient discharge with an attitude. I then proceeded to tell him he did not need to talk to me like that and he laughed at me. In tears from the pain of this sickness and how rude he was to me I asked to speak to the manager. She was very sweet and brought in another doctor names Dr. price who was very sincere and apologized. He admitted he even over heard the conversation and that is not how they want to run things. I have been here many times and never received such bad patient care! Jack Sperry also proceeded to try to start a confrontation when we were leaving with my husband. I'm happy they were able to fix the situation but I hope they fire that man! read more
