Fantastic experience. Had injured my shoulder and having so much pain in shoulder and neck. The PA who I saw, David Anthony, specializes in orthopedics and did different strength testings on me, he obviously knew what he was doing. (I had previously gone to the other urgent care in town for the same problem, and recieved sub optimal care there.) I've got to say that Doctors on Duty has a gem with this PA. He offered me a steroid injection right then and there, I was really surprised and so glad that my pain was taken seriously and I was given such prompt, courteous, professional, personable care and attention. He talked with me thru the steroid injection, (didn't even feel the needle, very gentle), and gave me a script and referral to PT. My shoulder already has better range of motion and the pain is improved. I'm a nurse, and work with a lot of medical professionals, and can honestly highly recommend this place. I felt cared for, listened to, and treated appropriately. Even the front desk staff asked as I left how it went. They actually cared to ask. Everyone in their office is awesome. I had to bring my mom in while home visiting as she had developed what was later determined an allergic reaction to something in her environment. We showed up shortly after they opened and there was already a projected 1 1/2 hour wait. However, they offer a texting service so you don't have to wait in the office as long as you can make it back within 25 minutes of receiving the text. We really appreciated that service as we live within a 10-15 minute drive of the clinic. Once we received the text, we stopped back in and it was time to fill out the intake paperwork. Mom was seen shortly after we completed her paperwork. Everyone from the front desk staff to the doctors on duty were friendly and professional. Mom was a bit nervous - I had joked with her about how they would just give her a shot in the butt and send her home (she hates shots). Well, a shot of steroids was exactly what was prescribed and mom was less than thrilled. I will say the staff did all they could to alleviate her concerns and help her relax. We were very pleased with the service Doctors on Duty provided. Once we returned for her appointment, she received a fairly thorough evaluation and was on her way in a reasonable amount of time. The staff out front took care of all her insurance while we were in back with the doctors. Check out was a breeze. I get it if it was a restaurant or a coffee shop, but when in need of medical care, this is the service and attention they give patients. I approached this clinic with trepidation..I heard about the long waits, and was concerned about a potential cattle call process. I did have to initially wait a while. But, what I learned was, after your first visit...you can call and make an appointment like any other doctors office. I would say the the registration process is perfunctory, efficient..but not unkind or unprofessional. What I found was, the minute I was brought back to see the doctor, I received excellent service. The intake nurse was warm and professional. Dr. Wilken was everything you would want in a doctor. Compassionate, an excellent communicator, and quite competent. Did I mention that they do in house x-rays? I find the convenience of this very exciting. Perhaps I am easily excited, but I love the efficiency of this. Bottom line, I absolutely recommend this clinic. Come with patience and a good book for the first visit and thereafter schedule an appointment for excellent care. read more

I have unfortunately visited DOD 3 times in as many weeks. Each time for a different kid with strep. Every time we have had an amazing, professional experience, the nurses are so sweet and I just can't sing high enough praises of Ariel Gardner PA. She is knowledgeable and great with kids and a ray of sunshine in my bleak sick kid momma world! She recognized me and made sure she was able to see my child (after she had seen a different one a few days before). Pro tip- sign up online before you go in, that way you don't have to wait long! All three times I went, I was in and out with a strep test and script in an hour or less! Thank you DOD for making this process as painless and easy as possible! read more

I love this location. Dr. Nilmeier is a great doctor. All the medical staff are great. Would give 5 stars but, one of the gals working at the front desk was not helpful. I was waiting on paperwork. Normally it takes about 5-10 minutes. Ended up being over a half hour. I saw her texting on her phone. When I asked about my paperwork she said she was working on someone else's paperwork. Last time I checked medical documents aren't sent via text. read more

Everyone I dealt with (I think it was four people in all) was friendly and professional. The nurse practitioner diagnosed my issue pretty quickly and transmitted prescription orders to my pharmacy (which, sadly, didn't fill them anywhere near as fast as I was told they would; that's the pharmacy's fault, not Doctors on Duty's). The only down sides were the fact that I didn't get see an actual doctor and b) the confusing online system for reserving a space (not really an appointment system) and for determining the waiting time. read more

I would give them 100 stars! This place is wonderful! I called to see if I could make an appointment and they were booked but the lovely lady I spoke with (Maria) walked me through putting my name on line so I would be able to check in without being there. I asked for 3:00pm and she said they had 2:55pm. I took it. Maria also walked me through downloading the paperwork needed to check in and save time. My gosh, I got there and they made it so easy to see the Dr. The staff was nice, happy and genuinely helpful. It was packed but they were nice to everyone who came to the counter. The Doctor was amazing. I have a bug and he gave me a couple of samples, told me what to do and was so nice!!! I needed a primary care Physician and I found him! Had to get my finger stitched up here a year or two ago - the place was clean as opposed to some other urgent care centers in the area and the staff were friendly. We used the "hold your place" in line feature through the website, filled out all the paperwork at home and checked in upon arrival using a tablet. Visiting a new medical facility always takes time because of the paperwork and insurance info that must be communicated. These folks minimize that by providing for online scheduling, whereby you don't have to show up until they are about to get to your spot on the queue. Thankfully the intake person behind the front desk was one of the most cheerful, pleasant people I've run across in a long time. She was helpful and friendly, really setting the tone for my visit. Once the paperwork was done I waited about 10 minutes and was taken back to see the doc. The young woman who took my vitals was equally pleasant and friendly. When she was done it was just a short wait before the Doc came in. The Doc understood my situation, asked a few questions and prescribed a solution. I was grateful for her friendliness and professionalism. All in all, a good visit. read more

Saw my doc last week for a mild cold that turned into the flu right after he went on vacation. When I spiked a 102F fever and was drowning in my own snot, I tried DOD on Lighthouse. Delighted I could book on line, I got an appointment immediately. The office is clean, modern and the staff very polite and professional. The team who diagnosed and treated me could not have been better and after X-rays, antibiotic injection and breathing treatment in-house, I was given instructions for followup and prescriptions were waiting for me at my pharmacy. I have never been very happy with the local ER but this is where most recordings tell you to go, so to find a great clinic for conditins that are not real emergencies, this is a welcome addition to our community. I would not hesitate to use them again and thanks to the team who treated me with such friendly and professional care. read more

It was my first time using this urgent care facility. The entire experience was pleasant from the moment I walked into the lobby. The reception desk was staffed with friendly helpful people. Although they do not take appointments, they do allow you to schedule a time so that you can get on a wait list and arrive at the approx time they would be able to see to you. I was able to get in within 10 mins of my scheduled time. When I got in everyone was timely and very thorough. Milly Joseph was excellent. She provided very clear diagnosis and a great approach to clearly up my virus infection. I would definitely recommend it anyone that needs urgent medical attention. read more

WARNING! The absolute worst excuse for a medical office on the entire Peninsula. The blond girl who is the physician's assistant here is the most incompetent nimrod on the planet. I recently took my very sick husband here with symptoms of a fever of 102.1, chills, and body aches. She said it looks like the flu, over the counter medicine should do the trick. I came back with, could this be H1N1 and should he be swabbed and get Tamiflu. She said that there were no outbreaks in Monterey County and that she was not concerned. I also told her that we had been traveling for the past 48 hours and had been in 3 different airports and on 4 different airplanes so the fact that there was not an outbreak in our area meant nothing as we could have picked something up when we were traveling. She still assured me that NyQuil and other over the counter medicines were suffice. Well, here my husband and I are 4 days later and still feeling VERY sick (yes I am now sick). And what do I see on the news this morning....3 cases of H1N1 in the Monterey County area. Hmmmm bitch better recognize. This is how pandemic's start. Ignorant people who are not even trying to be proactive with stopping something before it starts. This woman could be the reason the H1N1 has made it to the Monterey Peninsula. She should be fired and that establishment should be carefully watched with regards to it's medical practices. read more

This office never answers the phone 9 out of 10 calls. If you need orders for other tests it takes days or weeks for them to be sent this applies to prescriptions that should be sent to the pharmacy digitally so get the hard copy during the visit. You will be left hanging after tests for the results unless you keep going in because no one answers the phone. Do not expect compassionate care in this Medical Sweat Shop as it is staffed with overworked and possibly underpaid burn outs working a miserable job they seem to hate. I find it hard to believe Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital owns this place as it is run like a clinic in a third word nation. You would be better served going to the community clinic in Seaside much more professional and the staff seem to enjoy providing medical care to the community. This review was formed over many calls, visits, tests, orders and results so not one bad day but a vast history of bad management and mediocre medical care that exists because no one is open on the weekend except the hospitals. I hope this location gets new management because it is needed in the community. read more

I came in with 103 fever and severe sore throat. Waited about 50 minutes to be seen. Folks were friendly, but I didn't feel like it was thorough whatsoever. I normally would've asked a lot of questions, but couldn't talk much. Was diagnosed with bacterial tonsillitis after a quick look -- which was affecting my throat, gums and tongue. Doctor spent about three minutes with me and didn't conduct any tests -- prescribed antibiotics for ten days. Two days later I had some questions about the course of treatment they gave me so I called back -- as I was able to talk at this point. The woman on the phone refused to help me or pass on my question. She said it was not their policy to let doctors talk to patients on the phone and I would have to come in and pay another $150 to get any information. Felt like I was just a source of money that could be shuffled through without any real quality patient care. read more

Came here because my elbow and arm are in severe pain from a fall. A long wait and rude receptionists - but that's a given. I had to get x-rays. And needed to follow up with the doctor afterwards. I just needed a quick and simple conversation about the x-rays. They make patients come in for a follow up visit and charge them again! They told me the doctor NEVER calls patients EVER. A real doctor's office does not charge for such a visit, and will typically call you if it's real simple. Not this place. Stay far away. read more

Today I needed a doctor after my vertigo flared in 115 degree weather over the weekend! It's was busy and the staff was super professional. All safety protocols were being enforced and everything was clean. I didn't feel great and they even offered me to lay down. There was a complete exam by the physician and her assistant stood by. After being told to show up around 1030 am I was finally seen at 130.I told the doctor that I needed antibiotics for flu and chest congestion as well as sore throat and asthma. When I got to pharmacy I was surprised to find that only an inhaler and no antibiotics were prescribed. When I called the office to inform them of this , I was told I could return and pay for another visit if I needed antibiotics. No thanks! Not recommended read more

I went here today for the first time and was really impressed. Everyone working there was extremely nice and professional. The doctor - Dr. Wilkins, I think - was very warm and seemed to really care, and I didn't feel rushed through like I usually do with doctors. Yes, I had to wait almost an hour before they took me back, and then a little bit longer once in the exam room, but this is to be expected at an urgent care setting. read more

I have never had problems with this doctors office in the 19 years I had been coming here until the past couple months. Today's visit was literally one from hell. I came in at 10AM as a walk in. The wait said it was 3 hours long and when I learned this I asked if I could be called when my name was next on the list. No problem. I was called back to the office at 1PM and was there within 20 minutes of the phone call. I then sat for hour while I watched four people go in front of me. What in the world is the point of having a call back system when it isn't accurate at all? I missed two classes and was late to work because of the inaccurate wait system this facility has in place. The office was much better before that damned wait list system. UPDATE: Katie from the office left a very nice message on my home answering machine apologizing for the long wait, explained that the wait system still has some kinks that need to be worked out and wished to make everything right. Katie, your phone call lessened the negative impact of the visit and I hope the wait system is worked out soon. read more

I had to bring my son in and while there was a little wait (not more than 30 minutes), we were a walk-in and it is an urgent care so it should be expected, we were treated kindly by all the staff from reception to the provider. Reception was nice and very helpful, especially since we didn't have insurance at the time. Once we were taken back, they made sure that my son was comfortable and settled before they did anything which made the visit that much more pleasant. We took our very sick two-year-old here on a Sunday night and were sent away with directions to the emergency room. There were only 2 other people there who appeared to just be waiting for someone. We were told that their current doctor does not see children (when the website clearly states that they do see and treat children). While we tried to clean up our sick son who had just vomited and was practically passing out from a fever, I watched as the staff casually chatted in the back office. read more

My experience was positive. Overall I am very happy with the level of care i received and the attention I was given. I made an appoint at 9am for 2:45pm. My condition was not serious just an eye thing but I needed medicine. I got there 10minutes early and still waited an hour to see the PA doctor Shelby. She was so nice to me and the antibiotics she prescribed worked wonderfully. It is important to me that i feel heard and she took the time to address all the questions and concerns that I had. I'm only taking one star for the wait but even then it's not their fault that they got slammed with walk ins at the same time as my appointment.
