Went there today. Really excited as I remember that about 12 years ago I had a great Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve there. Well the place has been spiffed up, but the service stinks. I had a 1 PM reservation. They took me to a small table way in the back away from the action. After a while a waitress showed up and asked me if I had been helped. I said no and she well I guess I'll handle it. I said I would like to do a wine tasting. She left and brought me a wine flights sheet. Every flight as for two people. I asked if she had a flight for one person. She said no, but the pours were three ounces. I said well that would be 12 ounces of wine about a half bottle and I an not interested in getting drunk. Just want to taste. She said. well I could sell you a half flight where is pour is 1 oz. I said, wouldn't it be 1.5 oz? There is a $20 and $30 tasting option for you to choose from. The tasting room is fairly small and we didn't get a chance to check out the lower level motorcycle room. My husband loves his Italian "motto" (maybe he will buy me a VESPA for my birthday). We purchased a group-on and took our tour and wine tasting. We are not wine experts so this was a nice tour. Love the wine tasting and of course "le motto italiano". Looking forward to our next visit. It was a perfect afternoon, lot's of greenery and spent time going over all the different types of grapes, leaves, soil, harvesting, what makes someone decide to work at a winery and how the winery started. The wine at Doffo is pretty good (though vastly overpriced, as is all the wine at the Temecula wineries). $20 for a tasting is too much, especially when they won't waive the fee if you buy a bottle. Our tasting experience was not enjoyable, perhaps because our pourer was Samantha, who didn't seem to care about the wines nor us. We didn't get a menu, nor any explanation about the different wines. They were rude from the start. The daughter who was working the tasting room acted annoyed that we were there with the kids and that we had a big group (which shouldn't have mattered because almost everyone just bought a glass not a tasting). I purchased the premium tasting and for $20 I expected for her to actually tell me a little bit more than just the name of each wine. One of the kids bumped into an old rusted rain gutter and it separated from the top. The owner came out to fix it and asked us rudely if he needed to "file a report." Then the he actually said "wine and kids don't mix!" When I went in to ask if I could change my tasting to a glass because we felt uncomfortable and were thinking about leaving, the daughter rolled her eyes at me and slammed a $20 bill on the counter in front of me! I was shocked! I do not recommend this winery, especially if you want to bring your family. Its unfortunate because they really do have a nice setup for picnics and there was plenty of room for the kids to play, but it is obvious that they do not want children at this winery. I am going to start by saying I REALLY liked the wines here. They were pretty tasty. The staff behind the bar was also pretty awesome. Independently owned empanadas stand outside. WOO HOO. So why 3 stars instead of 4 or 5? There is really 2 reasons for it. The first is the decor and ambiance, not really my scene. Didn't like the motorcycles or the style of the tasting room. The second and more important reason, I did not like that they charge you for your tasting the second you walk in the door like you may run away at any second, before you have a chance to potentially pick out some wines, OR join the wine club. I also do not like that they do not comp your first set of tastings even if you do join. Especially since they request you take your first shipment with you. If this was not the case I would have become a member but instead I moved on and joined across the street. read more

We were referred through another winery to come and check this winery out so we decided to stop by. The first thing I noticed were the awesome motorcycle museum that they have all around the winery. The atmosphere was so nice and relaxing perfect to come with your family and friends. If you're looking for great views this place is pretty amazing. Temecula Wine Country is a fantastic region. I've been dying to take a trip up to Napa Valley, but considering I'm a SoCal resident, Temecula is my go to place. Taking a long trip down the 15 North from San Diego, you're met with nondescript shrubbery and worn out buildings along the freeway. The closer you get, an oasis of green rolling hills emerges and you are greeted with a sea of vineyards. The lands are rural in nature with growers practicing sustainable farm techniques including an agricultural preserve called the Citrus zone. Avid wine tasters will find many "organic" wine varietals from any of the 35 different member wineries offered. Doffo stands out as a place with irresistible charm, top-notch service, and a tasting room that feels like home. Nestled on the Northeast border of the Temecula Valley, my friends and I stumbled upon this hidden gem by accident. I had arranged a limo service to chauffeur my close friends and me to 4 different wineries of our selection to celebrate my 23rd birthday. Truth be told I had chosen to have a tasting for us at Palumbo, but they were entirely booked. By my concierge's recommendation (and a quick stolen glance at Yelp) we were carried away to Doffo. Doffo is one of the few micro-boutique wineries in the region that is situated on 15 acres of lush rolling vineyards. Upon arrival we were greeted by a quaint place with a unique combination of old world and warm family charm. There are vintage motorcycles sprinkled outside and inside the winery making one feel as they're backup dancers to John Travolta during the song, "Go Grease Lightning". Upon inquiry I discovered that the family who owns this winery has a private collection of over 100 racing and vintage motorcycles that they're proud to share with their tasters. The 6 of us were led inside the bustling establishment and were immediately welcomed by cheerful servers. We selected our tastings, paid, and were ushered inside. There are two different tasting offered: the standard and the premium tastings. Anyone who knows me is well aware I am a red wine fanatic and the premium tasting included 5-6 tastings of premium wines (almost all reds) for $20. The server who took care of my group and I (God help me I can't remember her name, but she looked like Anna Kendrick) was friendly, hilarious, helpful, and overall awesome. I was incredulous to find out that it was only her 3rd day on the job! She was knowledgeable about the Argentine and Italian heritage behind the hand crafted style of Doffo's wine making and her taste was fantastic. The pour was heavy here, the wines were rich and tasty, and there were various snacks included in the tasting. We were given chocolate chips with our wines as well as a buttery, melt in your mouth, slice of fresh bread accompanied by a secret family made sauce with tastes of olive oil and pesto. Another awesome detail about this place is each person gets a paper that lists each wine offered per tasting with a section to write comments. I found this a useful mechanism by which to list the pros and cons of each wine, but also a fun platform to remember and personalize my experience. So pleased with the reds here I purchased a bottle of Mistura. It's a dark red wine with riveted flavors and rich concentration. It contains intense flavors of ripe fruit, spice, and a toasty oak structure. I could imagine pairing this wine with a prime cut of filet mignon and it will only run you $38. To complete my experience here, our delightful server collected a bunch of corks for all of us to take home as keep sakes, and followed us out the door to take countless pictures of us. Setting a new standard for wine tasting is the fabulous Doffo Winery. I was surprised to see their tasting price set at $20 (no glass) and their bottles ranging from $59 -$110, but as soon as I tasted the Cabernet I realized I was getting a deal. Every wine we tried was impeccable. We agreed to feel sorry for whichever winery we tried next because we knew they wouldn't hold a candle to Doffo. This is why I suggest making this winery your last stop on your tasting tour, you simply won't taste anything better. With one of the tastings our sommelier offered us bread and some homemade chimmichurri, we ended up buying a jar because it was scrumptious. The ambiance is individual as well, there are antique motorcycles peppering the grounds as well as the standard gorgeous winery view that Temecula has to offer. Of all the wineries I have been to, I insist you pay Doffo a visit, you will not be disappointed. read more

I had been intrigued by the writeup of this place in the Press Enterprise newspaper - small vintages and mostly reds. Decided to check it out. Drove up to what looked like a house surrounded by vineyards. Walk up and open up the door of the winery. It was packed, about 2:00p.m. on an afternoon on Saturday. The inside was far from being cozy like I expect at a winery. It seemed commercial and mainstream. I would call it the Ferrari of wineries. There was a "ferrari" cart to shuttle you through the vineyard outside, and all sorts of Ferrari and motorbike memorabilia from Italy. It was really loud and obnoxious. It had a Jersey Guido feel to it, though the family is supposedly Argentinian with Italian roots. The wine was nothing spectacular, and $10 for 5 tastings, or all reds for $20 is pricey. The wines were alright. The sauvignon blanc may be good for Mexican food - that's all I could think to pair it with as it had a jalapeno taste to it. The wines all had sort of strange flavors, and their sparkling white muscat tasted like carbonated water. And to top it off, all the hostess did was pour the wine, and did not tell or describe each. I've never been anywhere like that - I always like to hear that spiel, so it was strange they did not. I guess that's what you get when you go to the guido winery of Temecula. read more

She is also a great tour guide; showing off the winery grounds from the vineyard, event spaces, and you might be able to see some winemaking in action (depending on the time of year you visit). There are some amazing spaces here for company parties or retreats, weddings, family picnics and reunions. On the weekends, food trucks make a stop here where you can enjoy gourmet food while enjoying your favorite glass of wine on the terrace. This winery was recommended to us by an employee at another winery, and we realized why as soon as we stopped in. It's a smaller place, which I love. I'm not big on the huge wineries like Wilson Creek and South Coast. Those places are like Disneyland. Doffo is small and has personality. The wines we tasted were all great. If this is the best Temecula has to offer, it pales in comparison to other wine regions in California. The tastings are $10 for regular tastings and $20 for premium tastings (which would be regular tastings elsewhere). The also charge $5 for the winery's glass, which is just plain weird. The actual pours were small! They don't use a measured pourer like other wineries do, but their pours were easily smaller than that of Wiens and Leonesse - the other 2 wineries we visited that day. Couple that with the expense of the tasting and I was severely underwhelmed. We were the only ones in the tasting room when we arrived, but by the time we were finishing our tasting a middle-aged couple had arrived. The difference in how we were treated compared to them was very noticeable. The server engaged them more and offered them extra tastings to help them choose (even though they walked out without buying a single bottle). Extra friendliness and extra tastings were not something we got - was it because we were easily 20 years younger? Their wines, while delicious, were overpriced even for a great bottle in Napa. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but I honestly don't know how you charge $49 for a bottle and not give a discount on the tasting - or give it free. (Something Sonoma and Napa wineries do, I might add.) The point of a tasting is to see which wine you want to buy. If someone buys a bottle, the winery should eat the cost as an operational/marketing expenditure. I would have bought a second bottle of wine except I was out an extra $20. The tasting room is quaint and the staff was nice enough, but they store vintage motorcycles and scooters in the room just adjacent and it smelled like motor oil. Not exactly what I wanted to be smelling while trying to experience my expensive tasting. I am sure it messed with the scent of the wine. Two words to describe Doffo: Buyer's Remorse. read more

The wines were really interesting and tasty for a pretty reasonably priced tasting. The server was also very knowledgeable about the wines and very friendly. I know that this is a small mom-and-pop operation, but when you are serving liquor of any sort you should make sure that you have water available and not just water for sale. Out of principle I did not want to have to pay for bottled water when according to California law you are required to have water available by tap for your customers. I am not a fan of Temecula or of this winery. Wines were good but they are totally over priced. This place is small and pretty basic. I did like the South American thing but that was about it. Felt screwed that we had to pay for tastings even though we bought a few bottles of wine. I should point out a couple things - you will probably notice that most Temecula Winerys charge for tastings because of the crowds. I guess I should not blame them. Also - Doffo is a smaller winery so when their stock runs a little low they will likey raise prices on the items they are low on. Lastly - if you like motorcycles - the owners decorated the place with vintage scooters and motorcycles which is way cool. We also got to taste some of their olive spread with a piece of bread after our tasting which was great. We purchases some. If you love red wines, empenadas and warm people, and dont mind paying for wines in the $30 to $100 range, give Doffo a try. ( You will have to bring your own empenadas or wait for the pick-up parties and member events). I raise my glass to Doffo and wish them well. read more

I have enjoyed a membership at this winery for several years. In my personal opinion, and if you drink red, this is the only Temecula winery worth repeat visits. I am a devote bordeaux drinker, and I rarely find other wines worth my time. (....Though I can appreciate that everyone has their own taste for wine. This is purely my own opinion.) bad business practices!!! we ordered two premium tastings and loved it. I agreed to join the wine club and was immediately told to buy over $175 in wine PLUS pay for our tasting fee... I asked to waive the tasting fee and they thought about it but eventually wouldn't budge or negotiate at all. the manager with the purple hair basically said she didnt trust that I would stick around even though I signed a contract guaranteeing I would pay for two additional shipments. I've been a longtime member of some of the other premium wineries in the area and have never faced such doubt as a new customer. they refused to comp a couple tasting fees for a $500 a year customer? no thanks. We visited Doffo in summer of 2016 and thought it was nice, and visited again this time in Nov 2020, during covid. We made a reservation at 4pm and were five minutes late. A kind golf cart man brought us to the general area from the parking lot, which wasn't far. The hostess was kind and tried to seat us twice, but reneged on our seating two times because another man took the seat, and secondly (the *real kicker*) because the owner *looked us in the eye* and told her to not seat us as she was about to, and to seat a giant group of frat boys instead, with no explanation. It felt like I was in a douchey exclusive NYC club from the 2000s like Cain, Pink Elephant, etc. Slower service is fine, and this is covid, but the owner's behavior speaks volumes. Then, the waiter ignored us for 15 minutes at least, helping people who sat after us, and walked by enough times that we had to ask the hostess to ask him to help us. The wine flights were fine, but we weren't given any real service to learn about any of them. if you want a sceney vibe and a cramped atmosphere, with everything slightly overpriced, but want to buy fake merch with motorcycles, go for it. It was a bit freakish how crowded it was as well, and ambiance wise, the patio is way worse than the vineyard facing area, kind of like a cement backyard with some bushes/motorcycles. We were dressed fine and came with a toddler, but felt like third class citizens. I don't need any special treatment, but I also don't need to feel like I'm being done a favor to visit your winery. There are plenty of other places to visit. Today we visited another vineyard, Robert Renzoni, with white glove pristine service, tasted lots of delicious reds and joined their club to just try more. read more

This is a great little winery to check out if you've got some time to hang out. I like that they allow you to walk through their vineyards and peek around, and there's a great picnic area at the top of a hill with a beautiful view. Gorgeous place to sit! I also noticed that they put in an area for weddings that's adorable. Service here has always been personal and wonderful, but I'm sad to say I haven't fallen in love with any of their wines. They aren't bad, just not my favorite. They're also on the pricier side so I have little incentive to grab a bottle. But the motorcycle collection is adorable and the ambiance for sitting outside with a glass is quite nice. read more

My GF and I have been going to Temecula for about 2 yrs now. Somehow Doffo slipped through the cracks and it took a reference from another winery in Paso Robles to get us there. We tend to lean towards the small or family run wineries; plus having incredible wines doesn't hurt either. The larger places (Wilson Creek, Ponte, etc.) can bite me. If I want to go to a winery that has the crowd of a nightclub, I'll go to a nightclub. We like the places that feel more like home and with friends. Doffo wines are some of best in the Valley. My fav is the 2004 Mistura. This is a must drink for all red lovers. Big and beefy, just my taste. I have to admit it, but there are whites I actually like on the list that I will do. Shockingly, the 2006 Viognier grabbed me. My GF is more of the white wino, but loves the reds here. She like the Syrah, Cab Sav Reserve (Awesome!!) and of course the Port. Marcelo and his family/crew have a rich family history and it shows in the wines. read more

Best Red Wine in the Temecula valley! I have been a wine club member Since 2007 I think... This is a small family operation and you will find Zulma pouring most days. There are tons of restored motorcycles in their tasting room. I love all their Cabernets and Zinfandels they started producing. We came here after leaving the DePortola Wine Trail because one person in our group is die hard Doffo fan. Now I'll give fair warning. Doffo ain't cheap. If you're thinking you're walking out with a $15 or $20 bottle, think again. But, since they were buyin', I was drinkin'. We got a couple bottles of something red (I don't know what it was but it was great) and headed outside to enjoy the cooling temps. We went pretty close to closing and they still accommodated our large party and were pleasant about it. I liked that. The only thing is that I wish they had some sort of cheese or charcuterie plate or something. I don't know why when I drink wine, I feel like I need cheese, a baguette, and olives. Definitely want to come back and check this place out on my own. read more

I love this winery! Every wine I tried had a lot of character and flavor. My all time favorite is the non vintage port. While we were there, the daughter was behind the counter in the wine tasting room. She filled us in on the history of the winery and her family (fascinating!) and also gave fantastic descriptions of all the wine we tried. Amazing wines, my favorites of all the Temecula wines I've tried so far. And it was the first one I had tried so I definitely set the bar high. Doffo makes excellent hand crafted wines, and they're known for their "Big Reds" with very bold tastes. The Cab Suav was my favorite, but I was also pleasantly surprised by their Port. I was never a big fan of ports, or any dessert wines before coming to Temecula. But I had heard very good things about the Doffo Port and I couldn't believe how much I liked it. Since then, I've also found several other Ports made in the Temecula Valley that I really like. I'm not sure what they're doing differently down here with dessert wines, but whatever it is seems to work. At $10 for a tasting, Doffo is absolutely worth a stop. It's one of the farthest away vineyards in Temecula. The only downside to Doffo is that they make such a small amount of wine each season (which is one of the reasons why they can make such good wines...kind of a catch 22). Therefore, I've heard that if you want to be able to taste all of their best wines, you need to get there early in the season. Otherwise quantities will become so low that they have to reserve the remaining wine for their Club Members (also meaning you should become a member to ensure you get a bottle of all their best stuff). Wines are also quite expensive, but totally worth the price if you want a great addition to your wine collection. read more

This small family winery produces 1500 cases a year. The family is originally from Argentina and seems to have a special affinity for Ducati motorcycles (one sits outside of the winery). The tasting room was small and busy, but we enjoyed the personal touch and the wine was solidly good, particularly the reds. There are wine crackers to help you clean your palate between tasting. They have a $10 tasting for six wines (whites and reds) and a $20 premium wine tasting (all reds). My friend and I opted for the $10 tasting, and also got an additional wine tasting from the Doffo's Yelp check in special. Damian Doffo who is getting married in a couple of weeks served us our wine, and also pointed out that they had purse hooks for our purses, which I loved because I don't want to put my purse on the floor. We first tried the 2011 Semillon, which I wasn't a fan of. We then tried the 2011 and 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. The 2011 was dry and fruity, kind of like apples. The 2010 was a little sweeter and had a more citrus flavor. I liked the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc better. We then tried the 2010 Mistura, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It was oakey and delicious. This one ended up being my favorite and I purchased a bottle of this for $38. Our two next wines were our free additional tastings from the Yelp check in special. The 2010 private reserve Syrah came in this interesting bottle that sits on its side - it was really tasty and jammy. We then tried the Casamiento, which is Damian's wedding wine. A pretty picture of the couple and their wedding vows are featured on the back of the wine. The red wine tasted young, like it would mellow as it aged. We then returned to our original tasting list, and proceeded with the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. We got to try the chimichurri, which went well with this wine. Our last wine was the Paulina sparkling wine. I prefer my sparkling wines dry, and this was a little sweet for my tastes. read more

We went to Doffo yesterday afternoon to pick up our wine shipment. The weather was awfully warm, and the place was a bit more crowded than it was during our first visit. However, we stayed outside with the owner's daughter (double points for remembering us after only one visit a couple months ago!) and met a fun group of guests. Wine was absolutely amazing, we were fortunate to get a number of tastes, from whites, to softer reds, then bold reds, back to their Sparkling Paulina (refreshing!) and finally, dessert (their port, which they are almost out of, by the way). Our experience was wonderful. We were able to switch out a few of the wines from our shipment with some of my other favorites and also purchased a box of their chocolates, because, well, why the hell not? Unique destination because it's a combination top quality winery and motorcycle museum. Owner Marcelo Doffo is a huge moto fan and has a huge collection. I was there for the wine and it's first rate. If you want to splurge as we did, buy a bottle of the 2014 Reserve Cab. This is cab as it should be--dark purple and smooth with notes of black fruit and chocolate. Also known for their Malbec, which is also full bodied and smoky from the aging in toasted barrels. read more

Must go! Didnt know Temecula got alot more of white wines than reds. It was bummer since we drink red all the time, but Doffo made it up for us. We went on 6 tastings in 2 days, doffo was our definite favorite winery. Heard they used to be private tasting only, good thing now they opened it to the public. A small family business with pride in their reds, they offer 2 tasting options. We were recommended to do their exclusive one which you can taste their signature reds from earlier folks there, and I will recommend the same if anyone ask. Couple things I definitely want to let you know: 1.) Motodoffo: super-easy-to-drink red, we battled with their reserved cab which we ended up taking a bottle home with us. 2.) Reserved Cab: super heavy bordeaux mix that makes you want to eat a thick steak all of sudden. 3.) Chimichurri & Olive oil: they also have those 2 available, olive oil was $20 and it was super fresh. 4.) Syrah: super thick their very well made one. 5.) Port: they had 2 dessert reds, forgot the other ones name but its okay because you will love tiego anyways. 6.) Motocycle Exhibit: backyard, you can check out their small exhibition. 6 different reds you get from this tasting, you will love all of them and will have a difficult time to choose at the end. What a treat starting off our Temecula winery tour at Doffo! We were in a group of 9 to celebrate a friend's birthday. My boyfriend and I split one of the regular tastings and one of the premium tastings. Our favorites were the Cabernet Sauvignon, the Fiori, and the Paulina Sparkling.
