I haven't had a chance to become a CrossFit disciple yet, so I figured I'd leave a review. Please, ladies, do not feel intimidated to try this gym. From the moment I walked through the door, the gym owners were asking me about my expectations, goals, and comfort level. Not only did I leave this gym stronger--like, I actually could feel my hamstrings and glutes firing after one adjustment from my coach--I felt genuinely heard. I spoke to several of the women in passing, and each one gave me a friendly smile. Also, I was amazed to see that all four kiddos--all safely strapped into strollers and watching from the lobby--stayed content through the workout. I am not a mom, but I was impressed! Also, I hope that the sweet boy I met today is not the one being bullied by a grown woman on Yelp. He was very respectful while his mom was speaking to me, obedient when she asked him to wait a moment before unbuckling him from his stroller, and answered all my questions about his favorite dinosaurs articulately. I am excited and hopeful about calling this my home gym!

I was nervous when I first began here as I'd never focused on strength or skill work before, but they welcome people of all fitness levels. The instructors are amazing at scaling so you still see progress, but are staying safe. I'm four months in and already the strongest I've ever been in my life! 10/10 would recommend!

Worst place and smells like vomit…read more They are not knowledgable about anything relating to crossfit. The instructors are rude and do not understand how to talk to their paying customers. I was appauled that they are able to continue in business because of their selfish tactics. Who in their right mind would want to go to a place to workout and feel unsafe? I've seen the way they treat their employees aswell and I'm disgusted.. Skip this place and find some where else to go.

Went to 3 classes this week, each with a different teacher and OMG...can i just say a big OM!! They've got discounts for seniors and active military, a ton of props, a welcoming atmosphere and a delicious space to practice. There is a bit of road noise and only street parking, but I never had a problem - so go, you will be soooo glad you did! Namaste.........

So I emailed Felicia McQuaid who is a Reiki Master and a Yoga instructor and found out when her "gentle" yoga class was since I was a newbie. So I show up early to the class at 9:45 am on Wednesday and Felicia is out sick that morning and their recently graduated instructor Kristin was going to be teaching the class. Kristin was amazing for a first time teacher of the class, even though she admitted to being nervous. I can't wait to go back later this year and visit the studio again for another class. It's got me amped up to even trying a few classes back home here in Nashville. A must go to place if you go down there.

However, the best part of this gym is outside. The running track is surrounded by various workout stations. The gym is also along a running trail. Nobody answered when I called twice and I registered for a class online said I was in the books…read moreshowed up and no one was there. But then the owner called me back and invited me to the next class at a different location. Different stations around the room with instructions using bands weights and yoga/Pilates type movements, some cardio. Five minute intervals then one minute break. I got a good work out. Energy was pretty good, could've been more technical destruction by the staff and a little more individualized attention since there are only four of us working out. Id go again.

After the warm up fun we went through some great Snatch progression to ensure that our class was on point with with our form. I'm always happy to cover the ins and outs of lifts that we will be doing in our workouts; performing these drills makes me realize that for so many years I've been lifting all wrong and with no true guidance. Jacks hospitality was top notch and only surpassed by his coaching ability I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town. I highly suggest that if you are interested in becoming a healthier better "you" that you make Crossfit Above the Bar your first stop.

Crossfit Above The Bar was the only one of three gyms that I called and/or emailed that actually contacted me back. So they were the winner and I'm feeling really lucky that's where I ended up because it was such a great experience. Jack greeted me and got me set up quickly, then introduced me to Gabby and asked her to pair up with me and show me around. It was Saturday so we did a team WOD and it was a great workout. Everyone at this gym was so friendly and hospitable... I can't say enough about how great they were. Sometimes it can be a challenge just to walk into a box and feel like you're part of the crew, but that was not the case. From now on, when I'm in town visiting family I will make Crossfit Above the Bar my gym away from home.
