I haven't had a chance to become a CrossFit disciple yet, so I figured I'd leave a review. Please, ladies, do not feel intimidated to try this gym. From the moment I walked through the door, the gym owners were asking me about my expectations, goals, and comfort level. Not only did I leave this gym stronger--like, I actually could feel my hamstrings and glutes firing after one adjustment from my coach--I felt genuinely heard. I spoke to several of the women in passing, and each one gave me a friendly smile. Also, I was amazed to see that all four kiddos--all safely strapped into strollers and watching from the lobby--stayed content through the workout. I am not a mom, but I was impressed! Also, I hope that the sweet boy I met today is not the one being bullied by a grown woman on Yelp. He was very respectful while his mom was speaking to me, obedient when she asked him to wait a moment before unbuckling him from his stroller, and answered all my questions about his favorite dinosaurs articulately. I am excited and hopeful about calling this my home gym!

Prices are way too expensive, especially for what you get and compared to other CrossFit facilities in the area. CONS: * "Childcare provided" - out of the five times I went with my membership, the caregivers were only there for ONE session. When you're limited to a 45 min class, and 15-20 minutes of that are calming your infant, waste of money. * PRICE!!! - double what my husband and I are paying now; and our new facility provides round-the-clock schedules and childcare at every class. * Size - at several of the class times, if it's full, there is not enough space, you're packed in there like sardines. * Rushed, most places work with you to improve your knowledge and watch you meet your goals. It honestly just seems like you're a number. * Autopay - just be ready to have your auto-draft pulled out mid-month for the next month, and never on a consistent day/time. For people that budget and don't just keep spending money in their account all the times it's inconvenient. You never know when money will be withdrawn from your account. * In the two months that I had a membership there, attended 5 classes (with their mandatory beginners knowledge), it was over $500, save your money! PROS: * None that would keep me there paying $225+ a month (discounted couple/military rate) ‍ ***Just do your research and checkout CrossFit places not only in Navarre, but FWB, even Gulf Breeze. We are very happy we didn't settle; unfortunate because this was the closest to our home, but very happy with our new location, we see the difference.

Then they ended up at Midway Fitness at 6:40. Got a day pass and access immediately online and I was able to sign a waiver electronically. Members now and enjoying it!

I was nervous when I first began here as I'd never focused on strength or skill work before, but they welcome people of all fitness levels. The instructors are amazing at scaling so you still see progress, but are staying safe. I'm four months in and already the strongest I've ever been in my life! 10/10 would recommend!

Worst place and smells like vomit…read more They are not knowledgable about anything relating to crossfit. The instructors are rude and do not understand how to talk to their paying customers. I was appauled that they are able to continue in business because of their selfish tactics. Who in their right mind would want to go to a place to workout and feel unsafe? This place is a NIGHTMARE. I have been trying to cancel my…read moremembership and get a refund for months now. The manager herself Reyna, signed me up over the phone. She told me verbatim, that "since the last time I was a member (last year), the cancelation policy has changed and its a lot better now! It used to be so awful to get out of, now you can cancel at any time with no penalties." Which I then clarified, because last time I remember it being a huge headache to cancel my membership at this gym when I had to abruptly move out of town. Two months later when I attempt to cancel my membership because- 1. they are charging me $131 for my first month $99.99/$69.99 a month membership 2. there is never any staff at the gym for me the physically sign a membership agreement (still haven't done that by the way) 3. they never return phone calls no matter how many "messages they leave for the manger" or however many emails you send 4. how dirty and smelly the saunas are I was told by Reyna the manager that I need to be billed SIX TIMES before they will cancel my membership!! I then explained that when I signed up they told me I can cancel anytime without any penalties. Which I was then rudely met with, "I am aware, I was the one who signed you up." They she told me that they will not be canceling my membership "because that will get her in trouble." But I guess lying to members as long as it gets them to sign up is okay at this location. I was then given the email for Reyna's boss, Bianca. Whom I have emailed twice and haven't received a response from. I attempted to cancel in mid October and they just now emailed me a cancelation agreement, but refuse to answer me about a the refund they owe me. I am still getting billed $131. Avoid this place at all costs, I have the paper trails to prove it. ****EDIT: After months of back and forth they finally agreed to give me a refund for in the exact words of the General Manager Bianca something that was, "100% their fault for adding on the family member, and was a mistake on their part." After waiting and wondering where the refund was as I never received it, I reached back out only to be informed that they "paused my refund because she read my review afterwards!". Yep, you head that right. They are not giving me my money back, for something that they have admitting to being "100% their fault" (in writing mind you), because I left them a bad review. For things exactly like this. I requested the owners contact information, and their legal teams and have yet to hear anything. ****

After the warm up fun we went through some great Snatch progression to ensure that our class was on point with with our form. I'm always happy to cover the ins and outs of lifts that we will be doing in our workouts; performing these drills makes me realize that for so many years I've been lifting all wrong and with no true guidance. Jacks hospitality was top notch and only surpassed by his coaching ability I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town. I highly suggest that if you are interested in becoming a healthier better "you" that you make Crossfit Above the Bar your first stop.

Crossfit Above The Bar was the only one of three gyms that I called and/or emailed that actually contacted me back. So they were the winner and I'm feeling really lucky that's where I ended up because it was such a great experience. Jack greeted me and got me set up quickly, then introduced me to Gabby and asked her to pair up with me and show me around. It was Saturday so we did a team WOD and it was a great workout. Everyone at this gym was so friendly and hospitable... I can't say enough about how great they were. Sometimes it can be a challenge just to walk into a box and feel like you're part of the crew, but that was not the case. From now on, when I'm in town visiting family I will make Crossfit Above the Bar my gym away from home.

The small details like already having the workout squares set up before class starts, or the very welcoming Coaches paired with a gym that is immaculate makes for an experience that makes you want to come back. Beware if you are a chalk monster though, the gym was so clean I was afraid to use any chalk haha. The people were always nice and welcoming which is a big deal for me. The coaches were awesome! They did a great job explaining the WODs, giving scaling options and target ranges of where you should be in the workout depending on skill level. Overall, one of the best boxes I've dropped in to.
