I waited until having been a customer awhile to make an informed review. My dog has been boarded there and does daycare and unfortunately I'm going to have to find another daycare. The staff are lovely and it's affordable enough but I don't want to come home from a long work day and have to give my dog a bath every single time because he has been soaking in urine all day. He smells like a downtown street corner in July. The other thing is he comes home and just is clearly dehydrated. Like pulling me desperately to his water bowl. I've told them before to monitor this and it isn't being done. I'd rather pay more for better because my dog deserves it. 2 stars for price. read more

We love Dog Days! My lab puppy has been coming here since she got all her shots straightened out. She's excited when I drop her off and tired from playing all day when I pick her up. Not a peep from the pup all the way home and she sleeps well through the night. The folks that work at the facility are professional and genuinely care about the dogs they watch. They're also very accommodating to puppies and their need to take many naps throughout the day. Boarding with Dog Days is just as great as daycare and I feel confident my pup is taken care of when I leave her overnight. I'm so grateful to have found this place and it feels nice knowing my pup will grow in a caring and enriching environment. We'll be coming back regularly for daycare and boarding. read more

We are so glad we found Dog Days! We are Californians who were traveling to Oregon on a roadtrip and were bringing our dog along. However, there were events and activities we wanted to do in Portland that were not dog-friendly. We were looking for a dog-care for our Sadie, but lots of doggy daycares required prior meetings which we were unable to do due to our traveling to Oregon for the first time. Dog Dogs allowed our Sadie to come in the morning for a trial period to see how she interacted with the other dogs and if she was cleared, she would be able to stay the rest of the day. Luckily, she did pass and had a great day running around inside and outside. The staff was friendly, and accommodating, and gave information about Sadie's day that let me know they were giving good attention to their dogs. Would recommend again! read more

The last time my boy Stevie was there I brought him home to find he couldn't keep down water, he vomited several times and wouldn't eat, a first. He went from Urgent Care, to the ER to the hospital. Stevie had ingested something, probably cloth the vet thought, and we had to wait for it to process. He lost five pounds, going from 77 pounds to 72 pounds in six days, and was a very sick dog. I would give this place zero stars if I could. We had our dog stay for a few days and when we picked her up, she had a gash on her nose. The explanation was "it was probably due to a wire fence". That's it. So later I emailed and I got a call from the owner that my dog was probably stressed so she rubbed her nose on a wire fence. I had never heard of this before and our dog has boarded elsewhere and this did not happen. While this may be what happened, a call when this gash was observed by staff and more details and compassion at pick up would have gone a long way. My dog has been coming here for over a month now. Initially I was looking for a place to board her as I was going to be out of town for 10 days and it was recommended by a friend of mine. The complimentary evaluation was straightforward. My dog passed it and she's been going there once a week during the week and she's also doing weekend play dates. After a couple of day care sessions, I submitted my boarding request (my friend was able to housesit and watch my dog so we only needed to board her for one night). Michele wrote me back and said my dog (who was 5 months old then) had signs of separation anxiety and I needed to bring her in for some play dates so she gets used to the space and setup. I felt uneasy as a new pawrent and Michele called me in the evening (8/9pm) to have a discussion that was helpful and I extremely appreciated it. After more play dates and daycare appointments, Michele approved my boarding request and the boarding itself went well. She even sent me pictures when I was on my trip. Overall, my dog has a lot of fun there; the staff there are friendly and helpful. I really like that they have an outdoor area with kiddie pools (my dog's favorite) and that they have cameras. read more

My experience at dog days has been horrible, to say the least. The first week he was there he came home with a very long scratch on his back that they did not tell me about. He was constantly covered in his own pee from being kept in the kennels there for a long period of time. Also he got a really bad case of kennel cough; which I know is a normal experience for dogs in this type of environment. However they knew that there had been dogs at the facility with kennel cough and chose to not inform dog parents about the sick dogs. I was told that there were also sick dogs in the day care that they knew about and they let stay anyway because the only thing this place cares about is getting profits. When I came to one of the overseers of this business she was incredibly rude and condescending. I would not ever take my dog back there or ever recommend anyone to this place. read more

This places is new and so I was nervous about placing an older dog into the hands of people who aren't as experienced as the other options in town. Unfortunately, my dog was injured badly during his boarding, and when I returned to pick him up, he had been traumatized and is still acting out of character. I was not notified by anyone or called at any point after the dog was hurt. They didn't even appear to notice that my older dog had a large two inch gash across his face that had been bleeding for several days. When I asked what had happened, they blamed the dog. When I asked for more information, and asked why they didn't call me, or why they didn't call his emergency contact to see if someone could take him to a Vet the moment he was injured....nothing. Again, it was all the dogs fault and there wasn't an ounce of acknowledgement that it was wrong of them to let an injured animal sit for days without any attempt to call to the owner, or seek basic medical attention. While I understand that dogs will play and that accidents can happen, this is not acceptable - these are animals who need professionals watching after them, and people who DO SOMETHING if an animal is injured. THE DOG NEEDED VET ATTENTION, AND THEY IGNORED IT AND LET IT SIT IN PAIN FOR 4 DAYS! And now he has an infection, a scar and has been badly traumatized and is very unresponsive. The dog has never had any issues at dog parks for the past 7 years and has been going to various daycares and boarding pet resorts for many years with NO ISSUES. This place has even used pictures of him on their web-site to promote how happy the dogs are, but now it's his fault he was injured, and my problem for trusting them with his care. The staff are highly unprofessional, and rude, and they don't care about the animals or their owners - but they're more than happy to collect your $50 a day. F this place, they deserve to be shut down for their complete lack of knowledge on how to work with animals and protect them from harm, or help them after the fact. With so many other options in this town, this place should be avoided at all costs. If you love your dog, take them to a boarding place that has been around for a lot longer, and has processes in place to help any pet that might be injured during a stay. read more

Please, if you care about your dog, do not come here. There is a very good chance they will be exposed to kennel cough & various other viruses/parasites. The building is not kept up to date and there is dried feces, rust, and mold in this building. There is a very good chance the employees will let your dog eat the other dogs poop and neglect your dog overall. The playgroups are not closely monitored and it is VERY possible that your dog could get hurt here. The staff is not properly trained to address any of these issues, including the owners. I am highly upset. If your dog goes here watch out and keep an eye on them. My dog went herr for less than 2 weeks amd has now brought kennel cough home to my other dogs and cats. This is going to be very expensive to treat with 5 dogs and 3 cats. I know kennel cough is common but when you have a group of dogs sharing space and water bowls, its imperative for the staff to keep an ear out for dogs that are potentially contagious and respond accordingly. I am extremely upset with their follow through on me informing them of this outbreak. If your dog goes here. Be sure the kennel cough is under control. Wow we love this place. It's so wonderful when you can tell that the staff really do love dogs, they work hard on skills, training and behavior, they're great with helpful, productive feedback, and you know that your dog has had a great day when he's been to Dog Days. They don't take too many dogs, which is rare, and even though that means that they're full sometimes when we want to go, at least you know they live their values and not just after the fast buck. That would be my one wish for Dog Days, is that they weren't so popular. The community of owners who send their dogs there are interactive with each other and you can tell that they love the way the business is run. We take our dog here for daycare and boarding and he loves it. We love it too for several reasons: the webcam (being able to watch our pup while we're away is wonderful!), the attention the staff pays to all the dogs (they supervise the play and are proactive about separating any dogs before they start problems and also clean up the potty right away), they are so compassionate with our dog and communicative while boarding! We're so happy to have found this place and our dog truly feels like this is a home away from home. read more

Dog Days has watched our senior dog many times in the past year and he loves it. The staff is fantastic, the dogs all seem to love it, and we have only had good experiences with the ~10 times we've boarded him at Dog Days. Recently there was an issue where we were boarding him with Dog Days while we were out of town for the week and he became very ill. The Dog Days staff went above and beyond what we would have expected just to make sure he was able to get to the vet and was comfortable until we could get home. Love Dog Days for my dog! I just adopted him and I enrolled him in a basic manners class and the trainers are fantastic! Due to a death in the family I had to board him overnight when I only had him a week and he was very well cared and loved. Now he goes for half day doggy day care once ot twice a week so he can play with all his friends! Owners and staff are great! They know the dogs by name and can tell you what type of day your dog had. They also have some plastic toddler play structures in their yard and a plastic kiddle pool which is fun for the dogs to play in and on. The cafe has wonderful drinks and sandwiches and is a nice way to relax. They even have a big tv screen showing the dogs playing at the day care. They also have happy hour there and while your at the cafe enjoying that they have free dog care from 5pm-7pm! read more

This place is amazing.. my dog jumps around in the backseat when we get close and sprints in the front door, every single time. I bring the dog here a couple times a month just to let him get some energy out and be social. Hands down the best play date/daycare/boarding place I've used. The stench that greeted me when I arrived should have clued me into the situation. Although I had a conversation beforehand about "boarding" my dogs, provided them with vaccination records, filled out their multi-page application form, and drove the dogs over for a 3 hour "evaluation", it turns out that they don't really do boarding. If you don't care about your dog, and just want your dog thrown in with a bunch of other dogs, then perhaps this suits your requirements. I didn't want my dogs running around in the noisy dog play room. I just wanted to board them while I was in the hospital. They declined to evaluate my dogs after all the effort I put into this, because they don't do "individual boarding". I have no idea what they do. Is it one big dog pile at night? I was told several times I couldn't stand in their lobby, and that I had to stand outside in the rain while I waited. My perception is that they aren't really running a business - certainly not one that provides a service to customers. read more

Our experience with Dog Days started out great--our dog enjoyed her time there and we had positive experiences with the employees. Unfortunately, when the ownership of Dog Days changed, so did its atmosphere. I showed up to drop her off for daycare and was told that we had been "eighty sixed" from the facility (those were the exact words used by the front desk employee). There had never been a clear communication that we had been kicked out and, despite having signed her up online many days previously, there was no advance warning. The unprofessional nature taken by both the staff and the owner (who I later spoke with on the phone), caused me to be late for work and to have to scramble to find a dog sitter for the day. We have taken our dog to many different daycare facility and never had any issues. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. read more

Dog Days is a dream come true! If you love your pup you really have to check these ladies out. I've tried Safe Journey, Sniff, Nature's Acres and now Dog Days and I've finally found the one. The staff here truly cares for your 4 legged friends - they actually take the time to get to know their needs and wants. It's such a relief to find a place that not only has a human sleeping overnight with your dog during boarding, but one that also doesn't cage them up for hours on end. Our two pups attended doggy day care while we were visiting Portland and the surrounding areas. It was their first time attending any type of day care. The friendly owner and staff were attentive, kind, and professional. We were able to bring our dogs in for their temperament evaluation in the morning and they were able to spend the rest of the day playing at their facility. The hours are great (close at 7pm on weekdays). When we picked up our dogs at the end of the day, they were tuckered out from all of their playing and running around. They have an indoor and outdoor play area. The dogs are not placed in crates. They are in the process of creating a play room especially for the smaller dogs, as well as adding the "puppy cam" to their website. They also offered a 25% off discount for our second pup. I love dog days and so does my pup. I was nervous bringing her to a doggie daycare because she has historically been very afraid of new people but she loved dog days right away! She can't wait to get out of the car and into the building and is so excited when she sees an employee behind the counter.
