I am so picky when it comes to my dog. It takes a lot for me to commit to a daycare since she recently got trigeminal neuritis from trauma to the jaw at Dogtopia. The girls who work at Mother pupper are so incredibly sweet and take the literal cutest pictures and videos of the dogs. Willow even gets report cards and dress ups. I feel super safe leaving my baby at Mother Pupper. It's also super cute inside and out and Willow gets to play in a little pool which is pretty much all she cares about in life...water. There is no level of excitement that will compare to willow when she is told she's going to daycare! read more

I can't say enough great things about the Mother Pupper (previously Dog Gone Happy) team. We started Winnie with the Enrichment Group after completing a board and train with Rascal Training. She began as a very anxious and timid COVID pup, but continues to make so much progress each time she goes to the group! Winnie has gotten better meeting new people, is learning how to play and coexist around other dogs, and keeps building her confidence. I especially love all the Instagram updates from each session -- it is fun to see what she is working on and I love watching her with her friends (especially Taco!). The trainers do a great job meeting each dog where they are at and I can't be more grateful for their support of Winnie. My only complaint is there isn't another location down here in Oregon City so I could take advantage of regular day care options. Highly recommend! read more

This place is the best. We brought our dog Franklin here regularly and always knew he was safe and well cared for. We left the Portland area and have since sought similar care in other cities without luck-- it can't be matched. This experience made me realize I owed mother pupper (formerly Dog Gone Happy) a review. This facility is clean, the staff is great, owners are professional and knowledgeable, the care to number of dogs etc is thoughtful, and there is a lot of bonus fun content like report cards and photos. We decided to bring our 5 month old puppy, Robin, to the Bark Until Dark(first time ever visiting Dog Gone Happy) she's not really used to being around other dogs besides the other one that we have... we dropped her off and it was a super easy process. Robin seemed to have had an amazing time. She was jumping around and happy before she noticed I was there to pick her up! We've been taking our dog to Dog Gone Happy since moving from Eugene almost three years ago and we love it (obviously, our dog does too). We shopped around all over Portland for doggie day care. We toured at least 4 other establishment s (and researched more) before settling on Dog Gone Happy. What we liked about DGH is the emphasis on well-behaved dogs, reinforcing training, and ensuring that the dogs that attend each day are well matched temperament-wise. The training piece was huge for us. We invested a *ton* of time training our dog (I suppose it never really ends, does it?) and when we visited other locations, we saw the staff allowing the dogs to do things we would never let our dog do, like run through open doors without an "ok" and jumping up on people or doors. Those behaviors aren't ever allowed at DGH -- the pups have to work for their play time, as it should be! For example, before beting let into the play area the dogs have to sit and be released. I know some owners are concerned that their dogs will pick up bad behaviors at day care but that's *never* happend at DGH because the staff are always firm and fair alphas. The other thing I really like (well, besides the stellar staff, who ROCK), is that there is actually an outside space for the dogs. So many of the day care spots in Portland don't have outside space for the dogs to romp. Personally, I don't want my dog getting used to shitting inside! That's what we spent 6 weeks training him NOT to do. Finally, the space is clean, well maintained and the staff are uber receptive to each dog's needs. read more

Dog Gone Happy (DGH) is different from most dog daycares. They are exceptional. At risk of creating more competition for my pup, the amazing folks of DGH deserve some kudos, and people searching for a healthy experience for their dog deserve to know about DGH. As someone who used to work at a high end daycare, I NEVER thought I'd ever take one of my own dogs to a doggie daycare. The environment is extremely stressful for most pups, and folks who work the floor are often well intentioned dog lovers, but often don't understand dog behavior. The goal is just to manage chaos and prevent dog fights. And then there's Dog Gone Happy. They have created an environment that makes it possible for a variety of dogs to thrive. We recently adopted a young mutt who is sweet, anxious, and a ton of energy. We came across DGH searching for boarding options, and were intrigued by their unique approach to daycare. You can read about it on their website, but the proof is in my pup: she is more confident because she is set up for success through supervised play and structure; she is SO excited- not anxious- to arrive at DGH every week because she knows what to expect from the same humans and dogs (her pack!); and we have peace of mind knowing that DGH staff is reinforcing her training, monitoring her excitement, and prioritizing her well being- which could mean taking a break! This isn't fancy marketing hiding a chaotic environment, hoping your dog "likes" it. This is a mentally and physically engaging experience for your dog with some stellar dog trainers and staff. The customer service is excellent, the clients are community, and they've changed my mind about doggie daycare. It's truly more than that. read more

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT DOG GONE HAPPY We have been taking Roxy (our Boxer/Pit Mix) for 2 months and she loves Dog Gone Happy. Roxy loves them and we love them. But our love reasons are different! She loves Dog Gone Happy because she loves her playmates and she loves her caregivers. We love them because they reinforce her training, daily and she comes home completely happy and fulfilled... As a first time puppy mom, I scoured Yelp and Google for doggy daycare reviews trying to find the best place for our 6 mo. old goldendoodle. Dog Gone Happy is super close to home and on our way to work, but had very few reviews. Due to convenience, I decided to give it a try and am so happy I did! This place is the best. It was started by a trainer, so the thought put into the space and dog interaction is second to none. Our poor Maisy was going through a fear period when she started and rather than just say she wasn't cut out for daycare, the staff made a plan to help her ease into it. She loves her "school" days and can hardly wait to get out of the car when we arrive. This place is one of Portland's best kept secrets. I should be glad as that meant we could get in (since so many places have waiting lists). But I do want to be sure they get the recognition they deserve! read more

This dog day care is truly a wonderful place, and the only facility I toured that I felt comfortable leaving my precious pooch at. I also worked here for several years so I can say without a doubt from first hand experience that this place is the best daycare in Portland. They offer a totally positive environment for your dog, full of fun and play. You won't find yelling or spray bottles here. Instead staff work with your dog using things that your dog loves! One benefit of DGH is that your dog gets training everyday. They might learn to run into a crate, or practice coming when called. Good manners are reinforced. Staff work hard to create an environment that is both fun and safe for all types of dogs. The dogs are carefully screened and always under control. With a high staff to dog ratio you can be sure your dog is getting one on one attention. Staff also give out occasional report cards that are both adorable and informative. I saved mine from when my dog attended, and loved hanging them up when I got them. This place is clean! And I mean clean. A yoga class was even taught here at one point. Yes... A human yoga class right on the floor. It is practically immaculate. With the outdoor area, your dog won't learn to use the inside as a toilet, and even gets to play in a kiddie pool in the summer. The staff tends to stick around for years and years, another great part of the buisness. Staff is experienced. They hire great, educated folks with behavior backgrounds. I've been taking my dog to Dog Gone Happy for about 4 years and couldn't be happier with the daycare! It is such a wonderful place for my shy dog to go to be safe, play all day and be loved. She's made quite a few friends over the years and definitely looks forward to her "day at school" each week. The staff are dog lovers and are all every experienced and calm. My yellow lab, Buddy, really wanted to write this review himself but was having some trouble with the keyboard. Anyway, he LOOOVES Dog Gone Happy! I moved to Portland over three years ago and have been bringing Buddy to DGH ever since. We've lived all over the west coast in his seven years and have tried a LOT of doggie daycare options, so I know how to distinguish the good from the bad. In Portland I tried several places in the beginning, and I landed on DGH for a few reasons. First, they limit the number of dogs they'll take in a day, whereas other facilities will max out and beyond, and that can be problematic. Secondly, THE STAFF! The manager, MJ, loves each and every dog and works harder than anyone I know. She hires only the best, and Buddy has developed special relationships with some of them that make me a little jealous, frankly. I also like that it's an indoor-outdoor facility, whereas a lot of Portland doggie daycares offer either one or the other. And then there's the little touches... periodic report cards, monthly themed photo shoots, birthday parties. Buddy loves to spend the day there romping with his friends, and it's all due to the love and attention from each and every staff member. It's a load off my mind because I know he's safe and happy and getting the kind of human and doggie socialization that is so important, not only for a growing puppy but even well-adjusted adult dogs as well. I can't tell you how many times I've been at the dog park and the subject of doggie daycare comes up, and someone will inevitably say, "oh I don't need it because I work from home," or "I can take my dog to work with me." Well, I work from home and don't "need" doggie daycare either. But I always encourage those folks to consider it, to try it out at least once a week. And I ALWAYS recommend Dog Gone Happy! read more

Honestly, this place deserves 10 stars. I've been taking my sensitive but strong headed (!) young herding pup to Dog Gone Happy for almost a year and am thoroughly impressed. As time went on, they helped me learn more about my dog's social behavior and how they're maintaining a positive learning environment based on her unique needs. They have bent over backwards to ensure that my dog is safe, happy, and learning new skills. Not only do they cater to my dog, they also cater to me! As a knowledgeable and... I admit... high maintenance client, they have done everything they can to communicate directly and consistently as well as allow for collaboration of ideas. The staff are always friendly, optimistic, and respectful in their communication with myself and my pushy puppy. If I can relay a quick story to give you an idea of what I'm talking about... A month or two ago, my dog had been attacked at a local dog park and was dealing with some residual social fears and situation specific reactivity. After much back and forth (on my part) about how to move forward with her recovery, the staff and I coordinated a daycare schedule and plan that would help my dog in her emotional/behavioral healing. Everyone, from staff to managers, were involved in this coordinated effort. It can be a scary time helping your dog recover from the social and behavioral trauma of a dog attack. We are so lucky to have Dog Gone Happy's continued support. As someone who works in the animal health and behavior field, I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful daycare. I did a thorough inventory of daycares in the city before deciding on this wonderful place. It honestly is my dog's safe harbor and I couldn't imagine bringing her anywhere else. read more
