Loved this place. Came out for the weekend visiting from LA and wanted to check out the local bar vibe. It was on a Saturday night, came in around 10ish and realized they were doing karaoke night! Karaoke host was the best and she can sing!! She had her people there and showed me and my sis and bro in law love and had a great time! Really fun bar with a very friendly bartender and friendly patrons. My mum and I popped in here to catch the second half of the Super Bowl and had a great time. We both had a lager and enjoyed the bean dip and chips provided by the bar. Also, the volume for the game was actually turned on, and after the game the music selection on the jukebox was great! read more

Loved the bartender more than one but 2 night time ones a lovely courteous pretty female her name starts with a D. & there is a tall gentleman has dark hair dresses stylishly with a tie usually. After just under a two straight years living in my apartment, my bestie and I decided a few days ago to finally go out to a bar and have some drinks and socialize! A former favorite of ours is the Dog House, so we returned and had such a great time! The customers are super friendly, half drunk, and seem to really enjoy the drinks, the food, and the music. You can order food right at the bar, it is prepared at the restaurant next door (a popular fish and chips joint with great fare) where it is then cooked up and served piping hot right in front of you... And it is always extremely tasty! Prices are very consistent with other great dive bars in the area. read more

This place goes through changes. At least the bartenders are still good. The problem now lies with supplies. Is it too much to ask for a bag of nuts with a beer? The fish and chips place is open next store- but not on weekends when there would be a pile of folks ordering food. Plus- they advertised bar b Que for Niners games. Well that lasted about a month. That would require Larry to get his butt off the bar stool and actually order some food. One time I asked on the day of the Niners game- " are you guys doing a bar b Que?" The response was Larry forgot to take the meat out of the freezer. I can tell you this there are 5 times as many people In the place when they do a bar b Que! We were in town for a conference and looked up local dive bars. It was perfect for us...good people...not pretentious and good prices on drinks of course. The best part was our bartender, Austin. Always a good time to sit in a dive bar and have an intellectual conversation while drinking. If you don't like dive bars...find a fancy place. Reasonably priced drinks. Overall, it's an acceptable dive bar close to home, usually with a mellow mature crowd except for the occasional blabbering drunk. Bartenders: Austin is good company. I've noticed this place along with some others in the area are really dying with showing welcome. The entertainment here has gotten lame and jeez lil uptight eh. The bathrooms oh man, what happened to them?? I use porto pottys at work and the bathrooms at this bar are worse. This place is quite, they do have a golf video game tho. Ha these people need to loosen up if they want more customers. I've had alot of complaints about me here for just having a good ol time. There shouldn't be anything wrong with that. I can't believe I've driven by here so many times thinking it was a shady, rough bar. It has a definite dive no-frills look from the outside, but the inside is actually rather clean and nice! As the last reviewer said, the bartender offered him chili. Well when I went, one of the patrons brought pretzels and bugels to share with everybody. This is definitely a FRIENDLY place in an odd way! Everybody was keeping to themselves, but you could feel a definite warmth about this place. They have the MOST interesting condom machine in the men's bathroom. It is a MUST see... They offer such delights as the French Tickler and Pandora's Box. You have to see it to understand what I'm talking about. There is only Budweiser and Miller Lite on tap which doesn't really bug me that much - it's dirt cheap and cold. The hard alcohol selection is pretty diverse. There's an old school cigarette machine by the front door (you never see those anymore) and that's really it. This is a place you go to get trashed in anonymity. Nobody I know (and I've lived in San Bruno all my life) has been inside except me. I'll definitely be back too! read more

DIVE BAR!!! The girlfriend and I decided to pop in for a drink just because of the name last Saturday night while staying in the area for the weekend. We stumbled upon a cast of barflys hunched over their very strong cocktails. The bartender was classic! She was hammered! Leather-faced, big boobs sounded like she gargled with razor blades. Anyways, we ended up people watching and playing the (horrible) juke box all night. Nobody bothered us and the people were nice enough. The crowd got much younger as the night went on. I've been to this bar a few times now. Each time has been a few months apart and out of the blue. The bartender and people in the bar have always been incredibly nice to me. Also I've enjoyed the music being played. I can understand the other reviewer's response regarding being served after waiting 8 minutes. Each time I have gone to The Doghouse, I have had to wait as well. BUT BUT BUT I must say... that I think when entering a bar, its not the bartender's responsibility to immediately serve someone new coming in. When I was a kid I used to shine shoes at this bar it's a great place and people have always been friendly to me. I remember English Anne who use to work at the fish store across the street use to frequent there and there was a bartender named Barry and he was a classic big old Italian bartender in the nicest guy who knew my stepdad Louis Giovannini. Aside from the smell of emphysema in the air, this is one of the better dive bars I've been to. By "better", I mean that you won't find a dead rat in the bathroom trash can or have your clothes reek of Lysol when you leave because the permanent stench of vomit was desperately trying to be covered up. I went here with my friends on 5-13-14 10:30pm'sh. We knew Amanda will be throwing her karaoke gig and want to check it out since we live nearby. The bartender is friendly and we ordered langunitas ipa $4 each and also stone ipa (what happened was the lagunitas ipa was sold out and bartender gave us stone ipa beers--surprisingly this one had a good flavor. This is mainly a dive bar for regulars but we decided to stop by here for an after work happy hour. The bartender doesn't exactly exude friendliness, but the drinks are fairly stiff and darn cheap. They don't have a lot to offer as far as premium stuff. Only Bud and Bud light on tap and only a couple of basic bottled beers. Average selection of hard stuff. Can't argue with the price though. Well drinks are about $3 and brand is under $5. And in this economy,, every little bit helps. read more

I've driven past this bar many times not knowing if they were ever open. The bar has no windows, so it was a little intimidating walking in for the first time. As I pulled the door open everyone's head turned to me and my girlfriend. We walked up to the bar and ordered a couple of drinks from the bartender. He told us that he cooked some chili earlier and we were welcome to some. We had a little bit with some tortilla chips, the chili was actually really good. The doghouse is a no frills bar, there are a couple of arcade games, no pool table, jukebox and a cigarette machine. This is a place that you go to drink, because really that's all there is to do there. They have two tvs which are usually tuned to sports. The beer selection there is lacking, they only have two beers on tap, bud and miller lite, but they have quite a selection of booze. This is a perfect spot to go for a drink and remain completely anonymous, I'll definitely be back. read more
