Paul C wrote a review 8 years ago about not being told his dogs were sick. And just recently I have had the same exact problem. If I could give zero stars I would. My dog stayed for 22 days. I gave specific instructions on how medicine was to be administered and it was on the box also and they gave 3 times as much. I called to several times to see how my dog was doing and they said he was doing great. My dog was in good health when dropped off and had just seen the Vet. My dog could not walk by the time he was picked up. He had a UTI and explosive diarrhea in the car. He was missing patches of hair around his anus. (I suspect this had been going on for days and they let the explosive diarrhea go on for days and just combed out the feces from his fur to the point he has bald patches around his anus). I called and the owner finally admitted "Oh, I was wondering why patches of fur were coming out". And then admitted to me he was never given a bath after being in constant urine and feces. If you expect your dog will get medical care when it gets sick at this place ... guess again. I am guessing - by the shape my dog is in that this has been going on for at least a week - and I was being told he was okay. If I could upload the pictures, I would. When you drop off your dog, ask what they will do if it gets sick. When I called every time they lied and said my dog was okay. If they had told the truth, I would have had my Vet visit the kennel and prescribe him medication. (I would have set everything up all on my own. All they had to do was be truthful). Unfortunately, I finally looked at their YELPP reviews and two other owners have had the SAME EXACT THING OCCUR. (When the dog gets sick, they cover it up). Makes no sense. The first thing they should do is inform the owner. PLEASE CHECK YELP BEFORE YOU SEND YOUR DOG HERE. And if you do choose to send your dog here. Make sure your Vet does out of office visits/home visits. And demand they call you immediately if your dog gets sick and you can arrange for your Vet to come to Dog Mountain Lodge; because these people will not tell you that your dog is sick ... even when you call repeatedly and ask how your dog is doing. dogs had issues many times...smell really bad upon returning home, diarrhea, kennel cough, then fleas... a lot of cost for remediation after including vet & home. seems the overall hygiene of the kennel has gone down hill. read more

Idk where to start, my dog came back skinner, my dog was scared of my mom, my dog was scared of my step dad, like what y'all do to my dog their, I picked him up and he was a completely different dog, when I brought him home all he wanted to do was eat. Definitely won't be seeing my dog back again, and I hope others watch out for your dogs as well! read more

Our lab puppy Charlie just turned 10 months old and has stayed here 5 times. He loves it here. The first time was two nights. The second time, when we opened the car he got excited, tail wagging, and ran to the door. So much for missing us!Every time we bring him it's the same thing. He's so excited to be with the other dogs and he has multiple, supervised playtimes. We get the "sports package" so he can play even more. Everyone there is great: Dean, Krista, Emily, David, they're all so nice and accommodating. They clearly love their "guests" and treat them as their own. Highly recommended read more

We were visiting Bethel Woods for a Woodstock tour and didn't plan on 80 degree temps in the middle of the fall! After seeing such great reviews I called David and he was very responsive, and thankfully had room for my two pups that afternoon. Fortunately I had their vaccination records stored on my phone so I could send those over - save yours now! You'll never know when you need them. Terrific facility, and I was so reassured chatting with other people dropping off or picking up - clearly a much loved and trusted destination for local dog owners. First time coming here at the recommendation of many coworkers. A bit out of the way for me but my groomer closed because of COVID. Place looks very clean and organized. I was only in the office so I can't speak about the grooming room or the kennels but the bathroom is clean. (｡‿｡) Very nice people. Asked all the questions I needed over the phone which they were more than happy to accommodate the time to answer. They had an 11:30 with a pickup time at 2:00 but the dog was ready at 1:15. I was very happy and the dog smelled great. Of course she looked good too but was all worked up (probably a little freaked out cuz she had never been there before) but she went right to the owners and she wasn't afraid of them. That tells me that she would be very comfortable staying here if need be at any time. Their fees are very very reasonable. Half of what I was paying the other groomer. I believe I was being overcharged at the other groomer and their grooming fees are within alignment of what you would normally pay. Thank you very much! read more

Today we had a lot to do and couldn't bring our dog with us, so we choose to use the "day camp" option at Dog Mountain. We had visited once before and received a very thorough tour, and along with recommendations from several dog owners/vets we trust, we had no doubt that our dog would be safe there. Well, when we picked up our dog, not only was he safe, but he was happy, he didn't want to leave, and was so tuckered out that he is sleeping peacefully right now. We already have 2 more stays booked for when he will be staying overnight, and will utilize the day camp option in the future as well. The owners are super passionate about dog safety, and even the harshest critics I know, my daughters, were happy with everything and how their beloved pet was taken care of. If you are in the area, or are even a bit of a drive away, like we are (1 hour) both you and your dog will be happy. read more

Unfortunately the last two times I boarded my dogs here they came home with a variation of kennel cough that requires antibiotics. The most recent is very disturbing because I wasnt told that it was still a problem until I picked them up today and two of my three dogs started hacking up phlem and sneezing tonight which will require another vet visit and more money spent. HIGHLY recommend this lovely and safe venue for dog boarding. My large sheepadoodle has been there many times, for as long as a month at a time. The owners and employees could not be nicer or more caring. My dog probably would live there full time, if it were up to her. There is one stick she particularly likes, and she's often photographed with it. The dogs have healthy exercise and supervised play time outside every day. Owners keep a detailed chart of which dogs do and do not get along, and I feel absolutely confident my baby is safe when I leave her there. Owners are very responsive and accessible. I cannot say enough good things about Dog Mountain Lodge, the owners Krista and Dean and the staff. These people know dogs and run a clean well organized business. My high energy German Shepherd benefits from regular day care visits to help her work off her boundless energy. I am especially impressed with her improved socialization with humans She was a nervous rescue dog and came to me with a set of problems relating to strangers. She loves her human friends at Dog Mountain and looks forward to greeting them and getting good-bye pets as well. Pretty amazing! I recently had her groomed there and I was very pleased. Geo-thermal energy powers their kitchen, heating, air-conditioning and washing facilities. The rates are competitive with any ordinary kennel, but this one is extraordinary. read more

I cannot rave enough about Dog Mountain Lodge. While never easy to be apart from our dog Ramsay, that he jumps out of the car and runs right to the door puts us at ease. Dean and cast very clearly care about the animals entrusted to them, and Ramsay excitedly runs to all of them. Waiting for the guestbook photos to be posted is the best part of our vacations (besides the actual vacation.) The prices are excellent, especially if you are used to city prices. read more

I cannot applaud Dean and Krista enough about DML!!! Our dog Trixie is a frequent lodger, as we travel a few times a year. We had checked out a couple of dog "camps/spas/kennels" near Cochecton which is quite a drive for us (we live in Brooklyn so it's a 2 hour drive each direction at least) and this kennel was by far the best and left us with the best feeling. They don't charge extra for feeding your dog the food you brought (it seemed odd to me that another kennel would charge more because while I understand it saves the kennel time at feeding time, it also makes my dog sick to change their food). It doesn't cost extra to give your dog medication. They have many different packages, like weight loss where they'd work your dog out more. They also have a groomer so after playing in the dirt (yes dirt, not rocks or inside) they could be cleaned and smelling beautiful. We have used the grooming services and Trixie came back looking adorable. The thing we like MOST about this kennel is the pictures they post of all the dogs. Whenever we go away, we miss her and want to see that she's having fun. There will be NUMEROUS photos of her, not just 1. You can tell by looking at each photo which dogs my dog is playing with, that she's hanging out close to the humans in the pen, which toys she likes. All in all, this kennel is top notch and the price is worth the drive from the city. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for several years. I live about an hour and a half away. My dogs come home unchanged. We have used several places closer but our pets come home and don't eat for 2 or 3 days. We love this place. Would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of kenneling their pets. read more

Recently sent our puppy here for a week. It was hard to leave her because she's so young and we have never had to board any of our animals before but Dog Mountain Lodge came highly recommended from a few friends and our vet. I can't even begin to say how wonderful our experience here was. The pictures are great! I couldn't wait to check every day to see her playing with all her new friends. When we picked her up she was happy to see us but whined a bit in the car when we left like she didn't want to leave! We have noticed a positive change in her behavior..
