I've been going to Dogyard since it opened, and I had a membership until I moved to Wallingford in 2022. I don't visit as frequently as I used to (1-2 times per year now vs 1-2 times per week before!), but each time my husband and I visit it's even better than before. We're always impressed by the physical upgrades of the space, but this time the staff stood out more than ever before! The woman who checked us in remembered our dogs' names throughout the day and would say hi to them out in the yard. The man (manager maybe?) who gave our dog his overdue Bordatella vaccine (amazing perk that they offer that) was so knowledgeable and friendly. When a dog got hurt out in the yard, he was there immediately to assess the situation and calmly clear the area. Then he kindly took the dog and owner aside to do an assessment and figure out what was wrong. Over the past years, the staff have always been great with dogs, but this guy was a superstar. I'm assuming he's a vet tech because he was so knowledgeable and handled the situation so well. At that point, in addition to having a great time, I felt comforted that there was someone there who could competently take charge in case of emergency. And to top it off, he was so friendly and clearly excels in a customer service role. Every other staff member we encountered had a great attitude and a smile on their face. I'm just really pleased that this establishment has not just survived the over the years, but THRIVED and continues to work towards excellence and making their customers happy. Very expensive, $16 to enter. $12 for a can of wine you can get for $4.99 at the store. And they get that for even cheaper likely. Greedy. I offered not to tip because these prices are egregious and the business owner at those prices needs to be paying employees a premium. It's not the responsibility of the customer. This is why countries with high min wages don't tip, we need to adapt. I was schooled about how tipping us for the staff...I get that but it's the business owners problem not customers. This place is GREAT! What an amazingly fun spot. Large outdoor space with tons of tables, chairs, water features, rocks, pools, etc. Entry fee is $15 and well worth it. We spent an hour and a half there and we all had a great time. Our Golden loved sprinting around and meeting everyone. Live music and food too! Owners are engaged which is awesome. It was also super clean which was great. Make sure to bring proof of dog vaccinations when you come for the first time! read more

Loved this place. Beautiful, large space, clean. Lots of workers available so I felt safe. I felt comfortable for the safety of our pup. He is a small Havanese and gets intimated by large dogs. When we first walked outside, he was scared and ran straight away back to the door. Someone saw and immediately stoped us to say hello, ask if if was our first time and directed us over to the small dog area. He had a blast ! read more

Really unpleasant and uncomfortable experience. When I was standing outside in line to get a drink, the bartender told me that he saw me playing fetch with my dog with an outside ball and that wasn't allowed. Fair, I thought to myself, as a lot of dogs resource guard. My dog doesn't, but the rule makes sense. He then went on to tell me that it was "okay" but to be aware that if there was a scuffle that it would be because of the ball I brought. He harped on a little too long, but whatever. I saw the point he was making and thought it was cool he'd let me try out having the ball. Then out of nowhere he started chastising me and told me he saw my dog "already correct a husky." Um, yes, my dog did absolutely correct a malamute that was trying to mount him. The malamutes owner came to my defense and said his dog was being rude and trying to mount my dog. Crisis averted! I get a drink and play with my dog for about ten minutes. He's having a great time, and there's a golden retriever that sometimes gets the ball before him. My dog dumbly wanders around looking for his ball when this happens, and I wait by the golden for an opportunity to steal the ball back. This happens about four times - no worries, this pup just wants to play, too! At no point did any dog in the park snap for the ball. The outside bartender then comes up to me and says that the ball and my dog are creating an unpleasant environment and wants me to put the ball away. At this point I'm annoyed and embarrassed and I ask if I can get a refund and leave, to which he deliberates and then decides that's okay while repeating that he's "sorry I feel that way" in what I thought to be a pretty condescending tone. He refunded the entry fee, but not the drink that I drank less than half of. The girls up front were friendly and helpful. The space was cute, but maybe a little too many lights if you're trying to play fetch with the tennis balls they provide (I was afraid of knocking into one with the ball!) but I'm sure they look gorgeous when it gets darker outside. I really wanted to like this place and probably would have if the bartender had just told me to put the ball away at the beginning, rather than tell me I could play with it and then tell me I'm creating an uncomfortable environment when my dog is sniffing around looking for it. I hate leaving bad reviews. For most dogs this place is probably great, but I personally have never felt more unwelcome. read more

Staff are friendly and super attentive to the pups so you can relax a little bit more than if you're at a regular dog park. I heard about this place from the daycare my dog goes to and was really excited to have some time at a bar with my dog! I don't go out much except to give my pup some additional space to run in the mornings and was looking forward to leaving my house for an hour or so. We registered, have all the right vaccinations, and then I was told I wasn't allowed in because I had a severe medical reaction to the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. I had COVID before the vaccine was available, but wanted the vaccine anyway to do my part. I wear a mask whenever I am not able to remain more than 6 feet from someone, and I signed a waiver stating that the business would be at no fault for any risk of being exposed to COVID. I have a letter from my doctor confirming I am not able to get any additional doses of the vaccine, that I am not at risk of spreading the disease, and can provide a negative test result. I was told I am not allowed in despite all these things. I am not at risk for having nor spreading COVID, and I'm so frustrated with this awful treatment that I won't be coming back even after COVID is over. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. The concept of a dog bar was something I didn't understand until witnessing it firsthand. There is a large bar here upon entering with an array of local beers, wine and ciders. There are tons of treats for the pups too. Make sure to have your dogs vaccination records handy as they ask for this upon entering. Once you're in the outdoor space, there is a huge turf area for the dogs to run around and mingle with one another and tons of chairs for the owners to sit and relax. My new favorite local dive bar. I always feel bad grabbing a drink after work and leaving the puppy home alone, so this is a great place to bring the dog and relax for one or two drinks without the guilt. She has a good time, and they're expanding their size to be half astro turf and half concrete. There's going to be a second bar and even word of a stage being built for some acoustic entertainment in the future. Treats and toys available in the main lobby for purchase are very attractive for the pups, and they have a nice little assortment of munchies to choose from to keep you satsiated while you're there. They have a drop in rate if you just want to try it out one day which is about $15 for entry for the dog, monthly passes for around $50 and a yearly just about $500. Dog always comes home a lot cleaner than when I take her to Golden gardens, which is not a substitute obviously, but it's a nice quick place to drop in after work and walking distance to the local Ballard area. The staff is also super friendly and very caring with all the animals. read more

Honestly, this place is great. My Ridgeback needed to be re-socialized before I could bring him back to bars since he had been attacked on multiple occasions, but not here! But now that my dog has been socialized again I gave dog yard a try and it's been wonderful! My only qualm, which is a little one, is I am on the monthly subscription and although it's cheaper to do a monthly subscription, it would be nice to also receive discounts on drinks. Subscriptions are guaranteed income for businesses and most of the time individuals just forget to utilize them OR that they are paying them. It would be nice to get some other perk for subscribing to the bar. Other than that, the staff is absolutely fabulous and all friendly. It's hard to imagine getting a staff member being atrocious in such a fun loving place but kudos to them for finding the right people and having the right culture. Highly recommended! read more

I took my very sweet, non aggressive Frenchie this evening- and he encountered a very aggressive pitbull, who bit him on the head. I've been nursing puncture wounds on his head and in his ear :( This place is a really great idea, but beware- despite having staff on hand, there are a shocking amount of people who come and let their dogs (usually big ones) run around with zero supervision. This pit was leashed, but had no business being in a park where unleashed dogs could approach and trigger leash aggression. I wish they had more staff to monitor and dish out warnings/removal of the inconsiderate fur parents...I find that I can't just relax and let my dogs run, for fear of them approaching another dog who shouldn't be allowed to socialize in a free play/no leash environment. read more

I went to see this place since Seattle article said this was one of the top 10 places for dog. I went in and the guy told me I need to have my vaccination records. Okay. Luckily I had them on my phone. Then they charged me a fee to enter with my dog. It took a bit, but he then told me the rules. We started to go in and then told me I couldn't go in cause my dog was not fixed. This was after he charged me and wanted my time. He said I would get a refund but maybe this should be known before you take your dog. Had I known this I would have visited one of the other 9 places that were recommended. Very disappointing. This place rocks! I love that there's a lot of staff, who are very friendly and watchful, so that it's less likely doggy altercations can occur. We were at the Dog Yard Bar recently with our two Silken Windhounds. It was a great experience for both our dogs and their humans. They had fun playing with the other dogs and we had fun hanging out for here beer and wine. The place was perfect for the dogs to play and socialize. The dogs and I highly recommend this place for a beer, wine, dog treats which they told me were yummy.
