Our Golden Retriever Sally is a big fan; an active 18 month old puppy, she goes to day care 3 days a week and spends all day romping with the other dogs. Yesterday we picked her up after she was boarded for 10 days while we were out of town and she was soft as silk from brushing. She was very happy to see us and spent the day chasing balls at the dog park and slept with us, but in the morning she set herself up by her crate where she goes to get ready for day care, and she was very happy to go back. We have been sending our dog to Doggie Do Rite for over two years. He started out going 5 days a week and over night stays when we traveled. Since COVID hit, he is only going 2 days a week. He LOVES going there. He is scratching on the window to run in their door before we pull into the parking lot. As a small dog, he has interactions with dogs of all sizes and feels safe and is comfortable with all of the staff. I work in the burbs but live in the city. So with an 8 hour work day and an hour to an hour and a half commute each way, the day was way too long for Jericho (my black lab grandpa). Bringing him to doggie daycare in the city would mean that I'd still be pressed for time if I had to stay late at work (and risk having him somewhere overnight - not an option!). Based on the two reviews here (albeit both older), the dog pool and the smiling, happy dogs on the Facebook page, I decided to bring Jericho here. They were more than accommodating with my schedule. They generally start doing evaluations at 9am but they made an exception and let Jericho come in at 7:30am to be evaluated. Since I only adopted Jericho two years ago and had worked from home during that time, I was unsure how he would react in that type of environment. So I was grateful that they allowed me to come in early in case things didn't work out and I had to bring him all the way back into the city before returning to the burbs for work. The first day was great. Jericho came home exhausted and passed out. However, he had issues on the second and third days. Being an old man, he gets tired easily and apparently very grumpy. Because of his two mishaps, I was scared that he was going to get kicked out of daycare giving me no other option other than to give a stranger keys to my house to walk him. Instead, the staff at Doggie Do-Rite worked with Jericho to come up with a solution and they kept my updated throughout the process. My pup now gets pulled out of the group for private nap times throughout his day to keep him from becoming extremely irritable. So far, this seems like this has been a good option for him. I know that if he ever does get kicked out, it wasn't because the staff didn't try. An added bonus is that I can pull up and they will unload and load Jericho without me having to get out of the car. They greet him by name when I'm dropping him off and they now recognize me (or my car) when I pull up to pick him up. They also let me know how his day was when I pick him up (good or bad, which I really appreciate since I worry he's going to have another grumpy-man incident). I know Jericho loves it there because he now recognizes the streets we take leading up to daycare and starts to get excited. Once we make the turn into the driveway, he starts wagging his entire body. When we pull up, if someone doesn't come out to get him immediately or if there is a car in front of us, he starts crying as if waiting 30 seconds in the car is the worst possible kind of torture he could ever endure. We love it there and will continue going for as long as they let us! read more

We used to bring our dog here for daycare. The daycare service was decent ... it wasn't the best place we've used but certainly not the worst. Their long hours were very convenient. We used this place until we moved away from Chicago. Fast forward to this week - I noticed a charge from Doggie Do Rite on my credit card statement (they had it on file and always charged me out at the end of the day automatically). That seemed odd since we moved out of Chicago at the end of May. I called them up and they said "oh, yeah, we forgot to charge you for May 10th so we charged it on July 28th." Apparently they didn't think it would be prudent to notify me that they were going to randomly charge my account two months after I stopped doing business with them. If you're going to bring your dog here, pay cash! read more

If you are looking for a loving environment for your dog to play while you are at work, this is the place! Doggie Do Rite is set back by an auto body shop, on Techny Road in Northbrook. This dog day care center is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. There is a large staff of wonderful dog-loving people led by Kelly and Stacy. The staff is available to tell you about your dog's day or offer advice. There is an in-ground pool just for right for dogs (check it out on their web site!); most days when I pick up my dogs they are soggy! There are discounted 10, 15, and 20 day packages for day care and discounts for additional dogs from the same family. They also have boarding facilities. I have yet to take advantage of them, but appreciate the fact that my dogs would be in 'day care' during the day and boarded in their crates for the night. They also have pick up and drop off service and a mobile groomer comes once a month. Our dogs love Doggie Do-Rite Daycare and come home wagging, soggy, and happily exhausted. read more

First off, you have to love a place that has an in-ground pool for dogs. It's not as deep as it is for people, but unlike facilities around here that have dogs clambering into kiddie pools, these people did it right. I took my dog there a lot when she was a puppy, for the first year that I had her. I credit them with helping socialize her so well. The dogs are always supervised, so they learn right and wrong around some excellent bipedal pack leaders. The owners talk online with many of their peers, and are often fostering a dog or two awaiting adoption. After my community opened up a dog park near me two years ago, I started taking my dog less and less, but if I got a puppy again, that dog would be going once-or-twice a week. It's a fun community there. I've been to a dozen dog day care facilities, and the indoor and outdoor facilities are top notch. The ONLY thing I'd like to see here is a webcam, but I trust them enough that a webcam isn't a necessity. One of the coolest thing I saw there was a Yorkshire Terrier just chilling around the other dogs. Not yappy, bossy, or fearful... just hanging with the other dogs. I'm sure that dog's owners are largely responsible, but it still wouldn't have felt comfortable if it didn't feel the people there weren't strong leaders. read more

Great experience with both daycare and boarding at Doggie Do Rite!!! This is an awesome place with an awesome team! We lived in the area for a little over a year and were so glad we found them. Our dog Rachel was a little anxious with other dogs. The folks at Doggie Do Rite took a lot of time to take her in, get her situated with a small group and little by little introduced her to the bigger pack. Rachel turned into the happiest and most outgoing dog you can imagine. She always loved going there for daycare and boarding. She couldn't wait to get out of the car to join her friends at daycare. When we had to move to California we had zero problems getting Rachel adjusted to her new daycare thanks to the great experience she had at Doggie Do Rite! Thanks so much! I highly recommend Doggie Do Rite. Our dog, who can be a bit shy and have trouble adjusting to new situations, loves it here. We moved to Northbrook last summer, and needed new daycare for her. They were terrific in helping her adjust, and now she get so excited when we bring her here. She comes home happy and tired. I love the convenience of the drop-off and pick-up service, so I don't need to get out of the car when the weather is bad. read more

We brought our dog odin there who is a high energy husky and they welcomed him with open arms and made our whole family feel comfortable leaving our fur baby there! I was so pleased with the care my dog received while boarding at Doggie Do Rite. This was the first time I ever boarded my dog and it was not my original plan. However, when plans fell through shortly before leaving on vacation, I heard good things about them, checked out the website and gave a call to learn more. While in a time crunch, they squeezed my dog in for an evaluation and had her in for some daycare to be sure she would be a good fit. Everyone I met was kind, caring and professional. I loved that I could bring her blanket and special toy to help her settle in. I left on vacation feeling good about my choice. When I picked her up she was bathed, and happy.
