We stopped into Helen's Doggie Salon a few years ago after seeing the building from Euclid and finding it cute. We haven't been to any other groomer in OC since. Helen is an absolute angel who loves all the dogs who come into her salon. Her pricing is very reasonable for what is received. We always go with a puppy cut/ bath / nail trim / anal glands and for my small dog it's under $50 before tip (I believe pricing is based on dog size). My dog is a diva. A brat. Very fidgety. My dog never comes home from Helen anxious for a few hours afterwords like he has with other groomers. That shows that while I'm gone Helen is caring for and loving my dog. read more

My pup always looks great and the people there are very friendly and do a great job with the dogs.

Although the staff always seem to be visit when I visit, they manage to still deliver great customer device with a smile. Prices are reasonable and competitive with other businesses in the market. A complete basic trim service takes 2-3 hours from check-in to pick-up, more or less. Parking can be difficult if busy as there's only so many spots available. read more

Made an appointment for full service bath and half inch trim. Dropped her in on Saturday morning 9am appointment time. Asked for a quote they quoted me $80 plus $20 extra for brush out of a total of $100. This place did not even have prices listed, as I was given the quote by the lady in charge, there was a woman grooming a dog on the side, and they were arguing over how much to charge me more. They wanted to change me an extra $20 because my dog was "more work" at that point I said no because I am charged less at another salon for the same service. I was about to take my dog away and they accepted the job for $100. Came to pick up my dog she looked horrible, they butchered her fur ended up shaving her almost bald. They claimed that she was matted which is not true, If this was the reason they should have called me for approval to shave her bald. I didn't come for bald dog, I could have done that myself. On top of it my dog was bleeding from what I believe was the rough handling. They didn't even tell me that they cut hurt her. I didn't see this till I came home my dog was cut on her shoulder and her face. Ever since there's been new ownership, the quality has gone down. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, since picking up a new business isn't at all easy. But my dog & I miss Helen a lot. The shop seems disorganized, and my questions weren't answered over the phone. Walking into the shop, it took a while for the workers to figure out what to do, and none of this ever happened when Helen was still in charge of the store. Not to mention the prices have gone up by a noticeable amount. I'll probably go here once more, to give them another chance and see if time has helped them figure out the growing pains. But if that doesn't work out, I'll be finding a different dog salon. read more

We tried this groomer for the first time on both of our doggos and couldn't be happier! They were really quick and it's almost been a week and the girls are still smelling good and have a shiny coat! Came across this place on here decided to call see if they can do just nail trimming for my puppy. The lady who answered said she was available and it was only $7 this is for just trimming she didn't file his nails down. But for that price I was still happy with it. Who could beat that price!! I got there with my pup within 15 minutes. The place was clean with plenty of parking space and they lady I talked to was very friendly and took my pup in right away. You must wear a mask obviously since we are in covid it's required when you go in for dog services. Service was fast and my pup was happy. We will be back for future nail trimming. Groomer does a great job but does have an attitude. I been taking my dog for the past 3-4 years. For some reason our past two dog visits have been a mess. On the second to last visit she cut our dog behind the ear. I understand dogs could move but would of been nice if she communicated it to us. Last time I was their I told her they do a good job but I did find they had cut her. She got angry and said my dog did that on her own and they don't cut dogs. Which is impossible. I still left my dog that day and upon my return my dog was cut again and with a rash all over her skin. My dog is very stubborn and has separation anxiety but I feel like they handle him very well. This is the second time he's been here and he always looks so cute when I pick him up. The owner and assistants are very sweet, welcoming, kind and patient! My doggie also moves a bunch (so sorry groomers!) but I appreciate you ladies so very much! I should of posted my updated review months ago, but Helen is no longer there :( She is the main reason we used to go there, because she was so sweet and always made my dogs feel welcomed. Anywho, I took my dogs to get groomed, I noticed the person on the phone wasn't Helen, but I still went in. They told me prices, and I told them we used to pay a lot less than that. They asked how much, I couldn't remember so I showed them my online bank withdraw from the last time I was there. They said they would honor that same price. Great! (Thank you!) We waited and waited for them to call so we could pick them up. Finally, I called them and they said my little dog was giving them a hard time and wouldn't let them cut his nails. They sounded so frantic on the phone, so we rushed over there. Everything was an absolute hot mess. My dog was so scared. My husband had to hold him to they could finish. I don't get why they didn't call me if they were having such a hard time. That has NEVER happened before at any pet groomers! I have never had any issues with my any of my dogs. Something is different, and I don't like it. I have not returned since that one visit. read more

I asked the groomer not to cut my golden doodles long hair . I asked only his underside and bottom area only. When I returned what was supposed to be 3 hours was 5 hours later my dog was completely cut and extremely short around the face and his beautiful mane was now gone. It was uneven and in some places missing hair completely. I was always consistent in brushing my dog daily so he was not matted at all. There was no excuse why she decided on her own to cut. My dog is now constantly itching and pulling out his hair because now that it's so short it is matting. I am so horrified in his condition and when I asked her why she did it she just commented that she thought he should be. I will NEVER recommend this place to any person . read more

I took my dog twice and asked the lady to cut my dogs hair evenly and short but the lady always does it her way and changes her prices on me all the time. In a prior visit, our dog's treatment was good and done within an hour. I understand that based on certain days, some are busier than thers, so on my 2nd visit I wasn't surprised to be asked for a 2.5 hour wait time. I waited and called to check-up and was told they needed te another hour, which was odd becaise their hours state that they close at 3pm on Saturdays. so pm comes and goes - no call as promised. I tried to be patient but went over there anyway - I did not get to see my dog but was told she was in a dryer (?) and needed yest another hour. So now my poor dog is caged away in a strange place well beyond her normal routine for nearly 5 hours. Whether this is the norm with grooming shops, I don't know, but I fnd it incredibly rude and greedy to take-in business volume that you can't handle, make false promises and keep animals waiting unnecessisarily long in stressful environment. My family loves Helen and Helen clearly loves all the dogs. We have been to a couple groomers in the neighborhood and Doggie Salon is by far the best one we have found. I have taken my two mixed rescues to her a couple times now and I am always more than satisfied with the results. Both pooches are pretty timid and have separation anxiety from not only me but from each other. She really takes care of them while they are with her. She is always very patient and gentle with them. I usually make an appointment but there have been times where I have walked in for services and Helen has always accomadated. So today I took my 1 and half year old YorkiPoo Patrick. It has been over three months since his last grooming Poor Patrick was overdue. In the past I've been switching because when I would pick him up he looked miserable and he wouldn't stop crying through out. When I arrived today he was a happy camper. Lol I'm not really sure where you came up with that date and we've been back to the shop plenty of times after that and go to PetSmart in between, so please stop lying to cover up the rude service I received that day. If you read my post, I do brush my dog daily but not for the bs recommended time that Helen, your owner shouted at me. If I didn't take my dog to a groomers for the last six months, you really think I'd care enough to spend my time to write a yelp review this long? Hm, not really. I wrote this post to warn other loving dog owners that if they don't want a shave, don't come here. I'll call Petco (which I don't go to) what type of spray they use that you claim is very unhealthy for the dog because that is very concerning. Thank you for that tip. I've taken my tea cup yorkie here twice and we love it! It's conveniently located near my house, which helps how I feel about it lol. But aside from that I love the service. My yorkie had a few tangles and the lady combed them out. I was thankful because a shaved yorki does not look cute lol Both times she's taken me without and appointment and she's done in a timely manner. Update: I called the groomers today and of course they denied anything happened while our dog was there. Our dog now has a major skin infection and is on antibiotics after taking her to the vet. Her hair is now falling out all over the house. It's quite unnerving that this has happened, her skin was fine beforehand. If you take your dog here pet owners please be aware. First of all we've been there a few times before to get his nails done. For you to say you should've called for me to pick up. I stood there waiting for you to complete the service . In the past you never put a muzzle on him it wasn't necessary. He bled because he was hyperventilating. You should've stopped then. He was clearly traumatized and you should've stopped but you continued.. Even when I said to give me my dog. back. This particular groomer was the first time she worked on him and she showed no remorse or even apologized for what happened. He's been to the vet several times since then. I have proof. This place is great I took my puppy here for his first full on cleaning. Cut, bath and all they even cut his nails cleaned his ears and his butt. He did a great job. The owner, her name is Helen she was so nice! I saw them getting ready to open last week. So I check it out and I for sure was SO HAPPY I TRIED THIS PLACE OUT!! this place is the cutest little shop. It was nice to help out a local business who isn't too far and isn't too expensive either! For all that they did the money I paid for my baby was well worth it. Have been going there for over 5 years. I love Helen and so does my dog. Was totally shocked when I went this week and Helen was no longer there. I had called for an appointment and nobody mentioned that or that their prices had gone up. When I dropped my dog off they could have told me that the prices were now higher. I have a Yorkie and wanted a summer cut. I told them not to cut the hair on the ears- they did. I told them only trim her mustache but they completely removed it. They shaved everything and she was not matted . they even cut off her top knot that you never do to a Yorkie. Even her vet asked what happened to her. I was too upset to say anything when I picked her up and didn't want to say something while other customers were there. I hate the idea of finding another groomer. read more

Took my Mocca in for an overdue cut to prepare her for the summer time. I called in advance to inquire about the price and Helen was so nice over the phone, and even nicer in person. I knew that Mocca had a Dewclaw that was bothering her and Helen took care of that and Incan see that Mocca was relieved after the nails were trimmed away. The price was very reasonable. Have been taking my dog for a year now and was not very pleased with the service. I think it's due to the fact that Helen is not charged anymore and the staff has changed quite a bit. Before when Helen was there it took maybe 2-3 hours but I took my dog the other day and it took them 4 1/2 hours. I had called them after 3 hours I had dropped off my dog if she was ready and they told me in 45 mins she would. I called again in 45mins and they said they would call me to let me know when. I waited another hour for them to call me and they did not. Finally, I just got in my car to pick up my dog regardless if they were finished or not. My dog came home very very thirsty as they did not give her any water. In addition, when I picked up my dog there was a huddle of pet owners waiting for their pet outside and I can only assume that the service their dog was receiving was taking too long as well. In addition to that the haircut they had given my dog was hardly a haircut. They barely trimmed any hair off. And they didn't complete some of the things I had asked them such as brushing her teeth. Over the past year this never happened and I had been very pleased with their service. I know my dog can be a little anxious when coming to the groomers but Helen was always able to finish the job and provide excellent care for my pet. Therefore now that she is not here I don't think I'll be bringing my dog here anymore. I found a new place called Happy D's Pet Salon in Corona Del Mar. Highly recommended by a close friend if any of you who were customers of Helen want to try it out. read more

When we picked up one of our dogs after being groomed and her eye was closed shut. We took her to the vet to see what the issue was and turns out she had a corneal ulcer. Which is caused from a blunt force trauma or from being cut on the eye. So we know it happened there. We wouldn't be upset if they would have told us because accidents happen but nothing was told to us and that is a very serious thing. So I would definitely not suggest taking your dogs to this place. read more
